And this time it's about rude people, who just cannot ever feel satisfied, mainly because of their huge sense of entitlement.
You know the saying 'beggars can't be choosers?' It turns out it's wrong! Some people, when receiving generous help with their everyday problems by strangers, choose to push for more instead of showing some of the deserved gratitude. And these people, my friend, are just the worst. While some of the helpers decided to kill them with kindness, others delivered the best comebacks for the ungrateful.

They were probably told by their parents growing that they could have everything they wanted for the asking. My parents taught me I had to wait for my birthday or Christmas. Or wait until I could afford it. I didn't get an iPhone until this year because they were too expensive, and even then, it's not the latest model because it's WAY out of my budget's reach. And I live in Canada, so health insurance is not a problem.

With some of these posts I sometimes wonder if they are real, but something very similar has happened to me, too. Client points out that another provider, who is less qualified, is cheaper. I point out that if they’d like to pay the lower rate, they need to go and see somebody who is less qualified and charges lower fees. Client then points out that the reason they’d much rather see me though is because I’m better qualified. We then each repeated the same argument several times, until I finally terminated the conversation.

When I regularly had sidewalk (garageless) sales I always priced things at the lowest, most reasonable price I could afford. I posted a sign stating "All prices as marked. No negotiating." When someone started dickering I'd point to the sign. If they decided that didn't apply to them I'd start raising the price. I even had a store-type pricing gun so I could change the price as I spoke.

People don't understand that smaller tattoos use the same materials, only the ink amount is smaller, but the disposables will be used and discarded as well. I can understand checking for discounts if doing more than one tattoo at a time, as only one set of materials will be used, but still, it's the artists choice to give discount or not. Not to forget that it's not because it's small that it might be easy. I don't have tattoos (not brave enough), but I follow several studios and have several friends with varying levels of details on their inks, I know that a "complex small" might take longer to do than a "plain" big

This is correct, i pay my tattoo artist £90 an hour, plenty out there for £50 - £70 and hour but my artist specialises in the style i have, why would i want to pay a little less and risk it not being as awesome as my guy?. Ultimately, you get what you pay for.

Well, I understand, they paid them really low... but I thing they cant expected tips like something natural... Im also dont have a good paid job, and not getting a tips either... When i go to the lunch, im propably dont have a big amount of money, I cant give extra money that i dont have to someone, just because his boss dont paid him enough... Nobody give me that money for free... Yes, If I will go with all my friends to dinner, spend here many hours and the waitress will served us, and be at the hand all the time, then she/or he will get a really nice tips. But for came to my table, get order and give me drink, food and bill, than no.

Unless the service is really bad you should always tip in the US. The servers make less than minimum wage and survive off tips. Not everyone has the luxury of being able to demand a higher salary, for some people the prospect of being fired isn’t worth it.

My husband and I were on vacation in Vancouver. We were walking towards the waterfront to see a hockey game when I hear a guy yelling on the corner. "Does anyone have a dollar? I won't lie to you..I'm going to buy a beer with it because I've had a bad day and need a beer! And if you want to just buy me a beer, that's ok too! In fact I'll go have a beer with you if you want! But if you don't want to have a beer with me..a dollar will do!" I walked up to him, gave him $5 and said "I like your honesty..for that..you can have my beer." And he smiled and said "Thank you Darling! You just made my evening! Bless You!"

I hat people that beg for no reason. At least here in Berlin, you can't beg with a child in your arms. Usually it's a very 'ignoring' city and noone cares what you do or wear, but this immediately prompts people to call the police.

I never give anything to beggars anymore because of this. I've had people say they needed money to eat only to: downright refuse food because they wanted money, ask for very specific food from an specific place, actually turn around and try to sell the food I gave them (in my face), curse me for not giving them money/not giving enough, try to put things like soda and chips in my shopping cart and ask to pay for them, among other things... Also had a kid once refuse the pack of cookies (only food I had in hand) I was trying to give him because he said his mother would beat him if he brought anything other than money. Not to mention they won't even look at your face... treat people like walking ATMs. Of course, not everyone - there's some guys who live nearby that I always give rice and pasta and other things and they're nice guys who help keep the park clean and safe, but you get the idea.

Where I live, this is a major problem. Don't give them money, they are buying drugs. Taking advantage of well meaning people is despicable. I wish the city would put up these signs at all the corners where they "work." They are allowed to beg, but there are rules. They disobey these rules, and thumb their noses at the law.

@BusLady...not all of them buy drugs. But I still would not give professional panhandlers a dime. I will give money to people who are creative..as in the couple that was playing guitar with their dog next to them. Their sign said "Making our way across the USA. Not asking for anything but a smile. Have a wonderful day." I stopped and asked if their dog had eaten today. They said no..none of them had. So I offered to get them food. Came back with a few things for them and the pup. Then gave them some money for their next meal. They said their goal was to get to New Orleans so they can try to get into playing at some of the night clubs. I wished them luck! I saw them the next day walking down the Hwy toward South Carolina and Georgia. I hope they made it.

This is kind of what always goes through my mind when I see someone begging. I am sure there are a lot of people out there who are genuinely in need of help, who really ended up on the streets through pure misfortune and would give anything to get out...and then there are people who *choose* to beg because they can relatively easily earn a lot more that way than by actually working. Some of them actually having their own place and whatnot but just choosing to do this. And then the whole gang-like formations with women with kids who are probably not their own, fake pregnant women, 'dying of hunger' people who'd refuse food etc etc...tbh the worst of it is probably that it's nigh impossible for a passerby to tell one from the other and people who genuinely need help might not get it because no one will believe them:/

This happened where I live. A group of homeless people used to hang out in the parking lot where my dad worked. They were harassing customers and a few times the police were called to try and move them, but couldn't becuase the car park was public property. One day corporate came to visit and when they saw, they offered them jobs, help witg housing etcetc. The beggars said no, said they'd have to pay tax on it and that they made more money begging! After that they were made to leave the premises. But my city - Leeds, England - has gotton crammed up with homeless people and you can't tell who's fake and who's real.

Begging is big business in most cities around the world. I’ve seen beggars working in shifts, with their back pockets heavy with jangling money. I’ve even been approached by the same woman three times asking to for train fair to three different stations because she “got off at the wrong stop and now can’t reach her friends”. I’ve stopped giving money but I do buy them food or give them my lunch.

The panhandlers in certain parts of my city admittedly rotate street corners in the beast locations so they can all benefit. I see the same group in the same locations every day. They also admittedly make a bunch of money doing this. They probably take home more than I do working. I donate to organizations frequently, but rarely will I hand someone on the corner money because of this.

And those who are really destitute aren't even allowed to those locations, because the organized gangs of professional beggars chase them away. So if you see beggars at a busy location, you can bet that they are professionals, making significantly more money than the average employee. Those who are really in the need, aren't allowed to beg there (or are allowed, but they are employed by their "bosses" and have to hand over all their profit for a fixed and usually very low sum they can keep for themselves)

It should not be up to the customer to make up a person's living wage with tips. I personally am a good tipper and I tip everytime because I have waitresses in the family, however, establishments should start being required to give their staff minimum wage. I dont understand how in 2018 places still don't have to pay more than $3 an hour+tips. You know places like Red Robbin (which is one of the company's that only pays this amount to waitresses) has enough money to pay their staff minimum wage.

Nothing surprises me anymore... One day I gave some furnitures for free, they were in mint condition. I was contacted by someone who asked if I could deliver them. He was living 70 km away from my place, I said I could but it would be 20 euros since it wasn't my van I would use ! Which is a VERY fair price to deliver FREE F-ING FURNITURES. He said I had no heart, I told him to go f**k himself. Seriously, I don't have patience anymore !

We were emigrating to another country and we had to get rid of things quickly and the stuff we were selling (brand new lamps, heaters, new tea sets, curtain rails, brand new gifts.. etc) were all at a ridiculously low price, like 1 or 2 euros and this woman who came to see the stuff was trying to get the price even lower and on some things she ended up paying only 50 cents and later she called back saying that her husband thought it was too expensive and that she wanted her money back to get it for free. We didn't have a lot of time but we weren't that desperate. BUH-BYE!

My husband is a web developer and works for a company that will not take a web design job unless the client is willing to drop at least five figures on it. As a lawyer, I am constantly contacted by friend/family and people I haven't seen since 2d grade, with a "small legal problem" that shouldn't take much time and could I do it for free? I did it for free for many years. Then I started saying - "sure, and I'll keep track of my time, and you can return the favor by spending that much time cleaning my house or working on my yard."

The friends and family thing is the worst because they they sometimes think that because they are your friend or family that they are entitled to free services from you not understanding or accepting that what they are asking is the equivalent of going to their place of work taking some of their product necessary for the job and not only telling them to foot the bill and that they won't be paid for their job while you were there. She didn´t have to remind me of paying. I paid for her job even before the day she told me to. That´s why we are still good friends after 17 years.

As an amateur photographer, I see where they are coming from. It's an insult just to assume you will do it for free. You are giving up your own time not just taking the photos, but printing out the images, (Which isn't cheap, by the way) and cropping and framing/presentation.

Single mom here- my kids and I had 2 lawn chairs and a pool float for a few months when they were in middle school. When they were 2 and 3, we didn't have a couch. I slept on a pile of blankets so they could have beds... would not have turned those down! Wouldn't have been able to pick them up though....

I loved my ugly couches. :) My first one was $10 and it was yellow with flowers but did the job very well. My second couch I was able to get for $80 from goodwill. It was a burnt orange color, but it was the most comfortable thing in the world!!!

My house has always been full of mismatched furniture and I love it. When I first moved out of home, due to it being a quick escape of an abusive family, I had nothing but my clothes and my dog and very little money so I relied on the kindness of others. I was given or sold cheap furniture and kitchen stuff, bed etc and I was so grateful I think I cried a dozen times just thinking about it. I used to have milk crates as tables and to put clothes in and still was just happy for what I had! Now I'm not in such need, but I still like having mismatched furniture, I think it adds character to my house. People like this idiot and all these idiots are the reason why every genuine sad story is doubted!

FFS -some people!! My phone broke and I was going to be without one for several weeks while trying so sort out a replacement via insurance. I bought a low cost phone for £12 - which was perfectly adequate for calls, texts and even photo's. (keeping it as an emergency spare).

My local food pantry stretches to help people out, and recipients are so grateful!! Also, most of this OP's items are shelf stable, non refrigerated. If her she has a child 5 or younger, and can VERIFY that she QUALIFIES, she gets WIC (Women, Infant, Children), which would provide milk, formula, juice, cereal, dry beans or peanut butter. Ok, let's break down the costs here, as best as I can guess: Turkey, at $2 a lb, assuming that's a 10 lb turkey (it looks pretty small), $20. Loaf of bread, $2, two boxes of stuffing, $6, bag of oranges, $3, bag of apples, $3, bag of carrots, $2, can of cranberries, $1.50, can of green beans, $1, bag of potatoes, $2, box of chocolates, $3, box of cookies, $2. Total $45.50. That's for one family. Can safely assume that each food bank helps several hundred families, and if they give each family the same thing, that quickly adds up. Idiots should stop and think before posting their nonsense all over the internet.

If you need help, especially during the holidays, find a food bank. Reach out to your local churches. A lot of churches host a Thanksgiving/Christmas dinner and all are free to come. For the food boxes, you usually don't have to provide proof of income, you just fill out a short form to apply. You don't have to be a member, you don't even have to be a church-goer. I'm agnostic, but I see no reason to tell them that. They always pray with everyone before we leave and I let them ( It's the thought that counts). I have gotten food in the past when, technically, I made too much money to qualify for assistance. But I had bills pilling up and I just needed a bit of food to get through the month. I know what it's like to struggle. We could all use a little help from time to time.

You got a flipping box of chocolates?! And you're pissed about juice?! My food bank doesn't give out chocolate like that. If yours is anything like mine, you don't get juice in Christmas or Thanksgiving boxes. You know what beverage we got in our Thanksgiving box? Milk! Granted, we did get butter but it all depends on what people donate. Butter is expensive. And it's pretty random what goes into those boxes. Our free dessert was key lime pie which isn't very fall like for the Pacific Northwest but hey, it was free! Be grateful for what you get. And you don't have to accept everything. I often pass on the table of mostly wilted lettuce. And if any food bank gives out actually fresh veggies, it's not in my neighborhood.

I was in my Biology Profs office the day after we took an exam on how cells metabolize nutrients. I ask her what grade I got. She says 109. If her father was truly dying, then it shouldn't matter who's on the bus with her. When we were broke and jobless, my husband got a job through an old boss of his. It meant riding a greyhound for 4 1/2 days across the country. But he did it because he needed the job to support the family. You do what you have to do for the people you care about. Obviously she doesn't care about her father that much if she's unwilling to "slum it" to see him before he dies.

How can any of you judge this when you don't know the situation at all? For all you know it could be an Amazon warehouse, where workers pee in bottles and get carried out on stretchers. The idea that "any job is good enough" is un-defensible. Every job should have decent pay and conditions, and the fact is that many employers refuse to offer this, and then act as if it's unbelievable nobody would want their job.

And then of course some customers today were getting upset after hearing that we don't do Black Friday. Yes, we actually pay our workers LESS than minimum wage in order to afford going half-off of everything. I feel like younger generations have completely lost a grasp on how friendships work? Firstly the general public owe you nothing (outside of basic respect as a fellow human) because you've given them nothing. Secondly you build friendships by investing your own time and emotional energy into relationships with people that you like. Only once this has really become established are you entitled to put out feelers and ask if they'd be prepared to do something to help you out for free. Your chances of a positive response are so much higher because you've already done stuff for to help them out, but even then you are not entitled to a positive response, they are still allowed to say no to specific things.

Also don't ask for a friend's discount. Most decent guitar lessons cost $80USD for 45 minutes... Most dedicated players take paid lessons at least every 3 days. I've been learning for over 2 decades. $9706.66/yearly in private lessons. Thank f**k for highschool music programs. This doesn't include equipment... My current guitar and amp combination cost over a grand and that's the low end of "mid-range" gear.

It's fine to request a donation to a good cause. I donate regularly and it usually results in free publicity and new paid orders I would not otherwise have gotten. What is NOT OK is gracious acceptance of turn-down. It made the requester look bad and embarrassed the cause.

The ring that My Love gave me was around $30 from Kmart. I wasn't expecting anything, and this wonderful blue jewel was slipped on my finger minutes after my basic training graduation. I was so shakey from just seeing those eyes again, touching those hands again, it was a wonder that it didn't go flying across the hall. I had that ring up until we finally moved back to our Home state last year. We haven't replaced it; perhaps one day we will. We're closing in on 15 years, now, and those hands still have one another, which makes a more beautiful circle than any ring.

I worked for a fine jewelry store and once helped a customer that dropped $1500 on fresh water pearl earrings, necklace and bracelet for his girlfriends birthday. She was back two days later returning all of them saying "I told him I wanted a Persian Cat for my birthday. But of course he gets me this junk instead." I leaned into the manager after she left and said "Probably because he knew a fine set of jewelry doesn't need to be fed or brushed. Plus the jewelry doesn't leave hair and hairballs everywhere and won't destroy your furniture by clawing it and crapping all over it."

Wow, this bringing in of people in need. I remember I had one buyer online who tried to tell me the tablet I was selling was for her sick mother she cared for. After a few dialogues she lost the story and told me about something else. Being confronted with the incosistency, there were no more replies. Depicable people who want to give you a bad conscious.

As a metaller who has been to many concerts including Marilyn Manson, we, the metal community, would not be happy with a little kid at a metal gig.We don't endanger peoples lives (except each other in the mosh pit), we would advise her to leave if we saw this. There's a guy in my neighborhood (the Haight Ashbury) who wears a wide variety of nice clothes and shoes (including $200+ Timberland boots), clearly has a place to bathe, and holds up a sign that says "Anything Helps." The first time I saw him I told him about the food bank where I volunteer but he has never shown up. Now I'm always tempted to ask if the words on the sign include telling him to get off his a*s and get a job at any of the many stores advertising for help around here.

This guy looks like a guy my husband knew who was a professional beggar. He begged for six months out of the year in a northern city, and then as soon as it started getting cold he retired to his snowbird home in Florida. He told my husband he made $60,000 a year -- in the 1970s! If you do it right, I guess people are dumb enough to support you in a better style than we can afford!

If one lives with his/her parents it's probably because this person can't afford to live alone. This is not a "millenial thing", it's a human thing. Not having enough money is as old as humanity; living with ones parents/family is nothing new either. What is new is this prejudice that adults who live with their parents are somehow spoiled, immature or a failure. The truth is our society is a failure. People are struggling, don't have nowhere to go and have to put up with alienated parrots who think they are above financial problems.

Drawing is never easy, especially when it's for others — no one is a mind reader. Plus, let me tell you — good art materials are NEVER cheap! Plus, art requires patience and time, something not even money can buy. If you can't respect art and believe that it should be done for free, then go ask some toddler to draw it for you or something.

I used to babysit when I was a teenager. I had one woman who paid me about 1/4 the going rate and another one didn't pay me at all. Needless to say, I never babysat for them anymore. And they both had the nerve to ask me to babysit again!

I had three houses on my street that needed babysitters. When I did a good job, the work came more frequently. Soon I had times that overlapped and I negotiated a deal to watch the houses of all three kids at a single families home..usually the home of the first family that called. The mothers were really good about paying me..and although I gave them a discounted rate. (I charged $5 per hour per kid normally..but bumped it down to four with a full house.) One night one of the father's comes in to retrieve their kid. He picks up the sleeping child and goes out to the car. I expected him to come back and pay me..he did not. When I told the hosting mother what happened...she called him and said "You forgot to pay." I heard him on the other end of the phone saying "You guys pay her?!?" The woman finished the call, turned to me and paid me what he owed. His wife called me the next day to apologize and to offer a bonus for watching the kids..and having to deal with her husband.

I've been babysitting for around 2 years, and Its harder to babysit than a lot of people think. I love little kids (they're adorable!), but lets be honest, I have to change diapers, get food spit all over me, and keep siblings from killing each other. I could never ask for a better temporary job, but I could also never babysit for free!

We had a neighbor with four little MONSTERS who she could never get a babysitter to come back a second time. In those days, the theoretical going rate was 50 cents/hour, but most people paid more. Her kids wouldn't do ANYTHING I was told to do with them, like get them to bed, ran around jumping on and off furniture, yelling and screaming, and then when she finally came home -- late! -- she paid me 50 cents/hour to the MINUTE. Guess what? I joined the list of babysitters would would never come back! At least she had the common sense not to ask me. If the kids had behaved, I wouldn't have been so angry about it, but who wants to watch four monsters for five or six hours for nearly nothing? Not me, certainly!

Wow, I remember offering my friend babysitting her child so that she could be free and relax instead of being a mom 24/7! And she literally FORCED money unto me. Even brought her belief in Jesus into it to urge me to take it... What's the point of this comment? I have no idea. I guess a testament to her character because this person above seems super entitled and *even I* wouldn't do their babysitting for free. @.@

I'm like that with my friends. I already have 4 of my own and all their kids are about the same age, so it's more like a play date than a babysitting "job". If anything, it makes my life easier because my kids are playing with friends and not fighting with each other! And this way, maybe I can ask them to watch one or two of mine in a pinch, tho I always feel so bad about never having money to offer. :( It sucks being poor!

Because your other choice is Uber or a Taxi. I had this happen with a friend. She asked me to drive her son to an audition 116 miles away. I said as long as there is some compensation. I pick him up, we drive to his audition. Now I told him I'd waste time going to see a friend and then I'd be back to get him. He says "Ok." Ten minutes later he's ringing my phone saying he got the audition day wrong and could I come get him. I ended up canceling on my friend..drove him back home. We get to his mom's place..he hops out and says "Bye." and goes inside. I got out..knocked on the door and his mother answered. "I said I wasn't doing this unless there was compensation." She hollers for him. She says "Give her the money I gave you this morning." He says "You gave that to me!" She says "Yes! To give to her!" You expect her to drive you all that way on her dime! Give her the money!" He reluctantly hands it over and she apologizes. She never asked me to drive him again.

My longtime tattoo artist will do the commissions free after you have had a few hours paid with him, i have had 16 tats done so far by him which is around 34 hours of work and i only paid commission for the first two, he charges £90 an hour which is more than a lot of artists but i love his style and thats the style i have, you get what you pay for.

I had a similar experience like this on eBay--I was selling 3 brand new, still-in-package sets of Hello Kitty lights (on strings, like for Christmas or around your room), and some lady begged me to knock down my price and hold them for her until she had the money so she could buy them for her daughter's birthday party. I agreed, but she kept stalling and stalling, and I told her if somone wanted them for the full price AND PAID FOR THEM, I was going to sell them to the other person. Well, that's what happened, and of course, *I* was the bad guy for ruining her daughter's birthday party, because she PROMISED her daughter she'd have them. Maybe I'm wrong, but I have a hard time feeling bad about this.

I was living in the US and used to see a lot of veterans at intersections holding cardboard signs asking for money or means to go on with their lives. I always felt so deeply sorry that they had to endure a war, literally having their lives on the line. One day I found a guy who looked older. I pulled down my window and handed him a $20 and said "Thank you for your service, God bless you". He faltered. Looked me in the eyes, but accepted. No 'Thank you'. As soon as the light went green, he banged on the side of my car 3 times and yelled "Go away! You're stealing our jobs!". I was shocked. I had been relocated from my country to the US *by the North American company* where I used to work because my specific skills were a fit for the position. I was not 'stealing' anyone's job. I feel so sorry that Veterans have to go through this, after all they have endured. They should have proper social and health care. His rage was not against *me*. It was against the lack of dignity he deserved.

A "friend" came over and told me a sob story about how he was going to lose his car because he gave all his money to charity that month (yea, right). The man is able bodied, so I offered to help if he would agree to help me paint my house. He signed a contract that detailed hourly rate & all. He worked off about half the money I gave him in advance. Then he skipped town without a phone call, an offer to pay at a later date when he was back on his feet, or an apology. The jerk had the nerve to call me up ten years later saying he was moving back in town. He said he needed a place to stay. He said he needed money to rent a storefront and open a business he wanted to start. Hmmm...He didn't ask for help, he just told me his needs. I was supposed to leap to the rescue of the poor dear. This guy only expects the best out of his friends. Funny how he won't give so much as a phone call in return. I told him to give me a call when he was settled in, and we could go for coffee ...

Once I stepped in at the last minute to teach a cooking class when the regular instructor was stuck in traffic. When he thanked me I made the mistake of saying "no problem!" which he interpreted as "no need to pay me!" 4 hours I will never get back
