They say beggars can't be choosers but not everyone got the message. Unfortunately, far too many people try to lowball you on Craigslist, constantly demand things of you they're not entitled to, and even complain when something they just got isn't good enough, even though it's free. Seriously.
There's a whole subreddit dedicated exclusively to these folks. It's called r/Choosingbeggars and since its creation in 2014, the online community has grown to a 2.3 million-big army, constantly shaming those who believe the world owes them just because they're living in it.
Loyal Bored Panda readers might remember that we've already covered this subreddit (here, here, and here), but it has featured so many new cases since our last publication, we just had to release a new one.

Artists and just freelancers in general appear to be dealing with choosing beggars the most. Author Len Cristobal thinks their ridiculous offers sometimes come from what she calls distance.
“People rarely see artists, their sleeves rolled up and hunched over a desk, studying various elements of design, principles, software, methods, materials, trends, histories, and relevant industries in order to hone their craft, find opportunities where their skill set is needed, and produce sensible artwork,” Cristobal wrote. “There are people who believe that artists deserve low pay because their work does not require technical skills — as if art is produced solely by impulse, vanity, or some internal dissonance.”

But the subreddit r/ChoosingBeggars features many examples where scrooges seem to be aware of what they doing. Like the parents who use their kids to guilt-trip professionals, saying their family's holidays will be ruined if they don't get that $2,000 sofa for $75.
These acts might also have something to do with human nature. Psychologist and decision researcher Eva Krockow, Ph.D., for example, said people experience a pleasant high after receiving a freebie in an expensive world where we frequently have to pay even for visiting a public toilet.
I guess nobody will be able to avoid such clients while working in a people-oriented industry. So I guess the only thing we can do is make funny posts and laugh about them. Otherwise, all of that pain that comes from interacting with them would just be a waste.

A friend does "companion care", exactly this sort of thing. Companionship and household assistance for elders who need someone to help out and keep an eye on them. She charges about $1000 a week for day work, double that for living in, requires days off, and others in her field charge much more.

I started babysitting when I was about 12. I probably had 5 different families that I sat for and they paid me around $3 an hour. This was in the 70's so that was a lot of money. I bought my own clothes and supplies for school with the money that I earned.

Minor compared to these, I had a close call with one CB last year. There was a game I really wanted someone was selling on FB Marketplace for $15. Now, I know I live out of the way for a lot of people and I know people know it's risky to meet up at personal addresses, so I offered to meet her somewhere public. She said she had to go to one area in town, anyways, and I could meet her there. Take note of that detail. It was the day I was going to meet up and I asked to confirm the price was still $15, she said yes. Then a little while later, about an hour before I had to leave for my bus (would have taken 2 bus rides to get to the location she would be at.) and she said she wanted me to pay her an extra $5 for the gas and went on how fair it would be to compensate her for having to drive all the way to that location. Now, $5 isn't exactly a huge, huge deal to some. But.. case in point, I ride the bus. $5 is less than it would cost me to go there and back home, with a transfer. I cancelle

My mom just had a cb the other day! She listed a huge amount of fabric on Facebook marketplace for like $100. It was probably $1000 worth of fabric. This lady keeps asking really nit picky questions for three days. Finally buys it all. Like 3 hours later she messages mom to complain that some of the fabric IS from JoAnn Fabrics. Mom never said none of the fabric was from there, and it’s like lady you got a fantastic deal on this stuff, why are you messaging mom to complain that some of the fabric is from a store when you knew it was a mixed lot?? You’re not getting a refund, stfu.

And most of those posts here are so wasteful.. guy got free energy drink he doesn't like? Pour it out. Even tho he could give it to someone. Some person selling something says they would throw it in trash before selling for cheap.. People are too spoiled with consumptionism and capitalism
