It's in the Bible in the sense of, "Here's a rule: don't do this thing" rather than a story where somebody actually does it. That said, there are a heck of a lot of upsetting things that people actually DO commit in the bible...

Read it again, it does not just list the crimes, but also the punishment that is to be administered for those crimes. Yes, no stories, but that does not make the Old Testament any less brutal.

No you did not, but your comment was, "'Here's a rule: don't do this thing'...", omitting the punishments and proceeding to mention the Bible's stories; hence my reply. The punishments from Leviticus are just as upsetting as some of the stories found elsewhere in the Bible. Also, in my experience, Christian fundamentalists who use a version of the Bible with the Old Testament and believe it is the literal word of God; are more than willing and capable of doing some horrible things to people they believe have sinned.

That makes no sense whatsoever. Leviticus lists biblical crimes...the crime is horrific, the punishment is horrific...so what if it is not in story form? Are you really that childish? Does everything have to be in story form for you to wrap your tiny little mind around it?

The topic of something being horrific wasn't brought up until you mentioned it. Also, The only reason my tone in my first reply to you was angry was because your first comment to me started with "read it again", assuming that I hadn't read it or that I was stupid. You picked this fight and now you're trying to make it my fault. I repeat: f**k off.

If I were to say to you, "there's murder in this book I got from the library," you would assume that the book actually depicted a murder as part of its plot. You wouldn't expect that the word or concept of murder were just brought up and mentioned and that's it. B******** is not "in the Bible" in the sense of, depicted as part of the "plot", but it is mentioned in commands. Since your wording did not make that clear, I thought I would, in order to be helpful to people who were not familiar with the reference. You've got some kind of hair trigger to think that was a slight. And now, I am not going to spend any more of my time or energy on an intellectual fight with an unarmed person. Ta-ta.
