Different generations have their own unique interests and preferences, and sometimes it can get pretty hard for one age group to understand the other, especially when we’re talking about the things they love.
Let’s take Boomers' obsession with minion memes and printing, for example. It seems that Millennials and Gen Z can’t wrap their heads around it and tend to poke fun at them for it online (OK, Boomer).
Most likely, this teasing will never change, as there’s more than a 60-year age gap between the oldest and youngest people from these generations. That’s a wide time frame to catch up on for the older ones, so we shouldn’t be surprised when something they like seems outdated or random to the youngsters.
As 2023 is coming to an end, we can’t think of a better way to send it off than by looking at some funny and unusual things Boomers absolutely love. Our Bored Panda team has collected the top ones that you might not understand right now but perhaps will end up raving about when you get older. Who knows, just like Boomers, you might start loving a really good leather phone case.

I'm a millennial, but I do that. Some things require attachments or are too long. And some people don't check their email often (like me), so you have to tell them you sent an email to get them to check dinner rather than later. Is criticizing an entire generation for something not done personally a thing now? It must be a thing now.
I check email about once a day. Texts pretty much when they come in. So, yes, let me know if you emailed me something. Also, I get a huge amount of junk, and the spam filters don't keep up.
Load More Replies...Boomers would be tempted to correct your spelling and syntax, for example “send you an email,” not “and email.”
Yup, but boomers also know that typos happen, they make enough of their own ;-))
Load More Replies...Gen X here, if you don't text me to say you have emailed it - you might as well send carrier pigeon.
Also an X, and I check my email at least twice a month.
Load More Replies...I regularly get texts from people at work that require long uninterrupted responses. I send an email then tell them check your email. Not everything needs to be a freaking live chat.
New gens LOVE to have difficulty determining the difference btwn generations.
I'm a boomer, and if you don't text me and tell me you sent an email, then i may not read it for a week.
In all fairness, I’d sacrifice a bit of speed if it meant interacting with an entity with an actual personality.
Yes of course. It's more effective than sending an e-mail that can be ignored by the reade
Load More Replies...Humans can actually fix a problem. Chatbots or an AI interface can only say, "We can't quite understand what the problem is, please describe it again" before eventually telling you they'll send you to a representative for help. Instead of losing those 5-10 minutes of my life, just gimme a human in the first place.
Even worse, chatbots just say "see our help page". It's not on the help page, that's why I'm calling in the first place.
Load More Replies...GenX, and same here. A real person can usually at least try to address your problem while bots will just run you in circles if it's not something they're already preprogrammed to deal with.
Load More Replies...Not exclusively a boomer thing. I detest talking to the automated systems. Just give me a person who gets paid to help me with whatever I’m calling about and let me get on with my life already.
Plus automation robs humans of jobs, and robs the company of any small remaining bit of humanity
Load More Replies...Yes, because I don't ring to pay my bill or check my usage, I have either freaking issues or questions....and NO i do not want to wade through your list of 2000 possibles issues and go thru the 50 steps to resolving, if I'm even remotely confident that I got the right info in the 1st place, which it always turns out I'm wrong and have to eff around all over again anyway.
I’m not a boomer. Born in 83. I identify as a xennial. For some things I’m perfectly okay with the robots, but legit- if Ima take my time to call for an issue it’s because it’s an issue a robot cannot fix. I need to speak to someone. Preferably someone that speaks English.
Boomer here, what I just "love" is when you are told, it's easier to use our website. So you log in, answer a few questions and BOOM! it takes you in a loop back to the original page, so you answer a few questions...... and.......guess what? I'm looking at you Sky! Edit, yes I'm a happy Grumpy Old Git!
I don’t know if this is just a problem in parts of the US, but there is a rash of “skimmers” installed into self-serve gas pumps. These are electronic cards that intercept your credit card info when you pay at the pump. For this reason, I always get a printed receipt, which is the best protection to offer the credit card company when disputing a charge due to stolen credentials. I guess Boomers are more aware of what can go wrong.
As someone who works at an FI: That's not how any of this works. We're going to be basing decisions on the backend details of the allegedly fraudulent trtransaction. The only time I want your receipt is if you're disputing the amount charged to your account vs the receipt for your transaction. Not for a transaction you didn't authorize or for a double charge.
Load More Replies...You bet. I am going to need that printed receipt when I go to return defective items.
Some of us boomers try very hard not to be 'old school', actually. Having grown up in the IT industry, from the time when there were only mainframe computers with punch card programming and huge, wasteful green bar paper printers, I've adjusted very well over the years. I could go on - and tell you about the days when ATMs first came on the market, and most stodgy folks said they'd never catch on. Hah! Almost fifty years later, and recently retired as an IT project manager, the changes I've made to learn new technology and processes would make your head spin. So, yeah, I can not only swipe a card, and can tap it, too, and I can say no receipt needed cause I monitor my online banking like a hawk. So don't give me that old boomer insult and lump us all together. Just like other generations, some are more flexible and able to adjust to change. I would love to be a fly on the wall forty years from now to ask you how astonishing the rate of change was for you and your peers.
I've never deposited money at an ATM. Is that an 'old person' thing? We insist on all our bills and receipts on paper, if a bill arrives electronically we know it's just another scam.
Load More Replies...And if I need a hard copy, why waste my paper and ink? Let the establishment pony up.
Of course! I stick them onto A4 paper and give them to my accountant at tax time
Uh, yeah? So I can easily return something without hassle. Just present the receipt without having to rummage through my phone. Oy.
Maybe Boomers, who are older, have a much greater chance of having been scammed at some earlier point of their life. Once you've been scammed, well you don't like it. A "real" receipt is a useful thing.
Nowadays, Boomers mostly have fun poked at them online for their conservative views and their love for everything they’re accustomed to. But along with the random things they enjoy and can’t let go of, they currently have a lot of influence on the world.
This generation makes up a substantial part of the population, especially in developed countries. As the third largest age group in the U.S. (recently surpassed by Millennials and Gen Z), they still continue to have a significant impact on the economy, the world of work, and consumerism.
Wrong! This is an issue for folks of all ages. As a road warrior, I mostly encountered them in airports rather than entering a store. To cope, I nicknamed them 'the Obliviots' in my mind. They are the oblivious idiots that have no concept of what's going on around them. Glad to have all that in my past now as a retired boomer.

Load More Replies...Some of us are looking for who has a gun and where the escape routes are,
I prefer to find an open/unoccupied area before planning my next steps.
Well you are talking about two things: boomers are used to fewer people in any public space so not used to having to make room for all of you, and, taking time to appreciate life as it occurs around you, something younger people do not spend enough time doing as they are always in such a hurry. I guess to get to the 'next level' or take advantage of the time savings of digital devices.
Even worse, is at the exit end of an escalator. Apparently they expect whoever's behind them to walk backwards while they figure out where they want to go next.
Thats not only boomer, my husband of 54 and my son if 16 do the same and never seem to think if people around them
Situational awareness. It's a good thing. But it's existentially impossible to stand in one spot without being in someone's way. Checking out the new environment. Looking at the phone. Comparing merchandise on the shelf. "'Scuse me!" & sidle through personal space.
Not a Boomer and do the same damn thing. Mainly because I don't consider people who are Tik-Tok famous "celebrities."
Same. Not a boomer, don't know (or even care) who most "celebrities" are these days.
Load More Replies...Probably because the mass production of celebrities does not reflect talent so nothing really memorable about them
Yep, most of them may be attractive, but looks do not represent talent, as you said. Not to mention that, thanks to so much plastic surgery, many of them look a lot alike.
Load More Replies...I’m Gen z, but I have no idea who half of these “celebrities” are. Boomer at heart :)
I'll avoid blurting out and exaggerated "WHO?" But that doesn't mean I know who those people are.
Because there are way too many wannabe phony celebrities these days, it has gotten impossible to know most of them, especially since we don't care about them...
I am a millennial and I have no idea of the lineup on "celebrity" shows are these days.
I think that is a "dude" thing. Then they say "I'm just kidding, you're great."
Like borderline racist and overtly sexist snippets that you're supposed to slap your knee and bray uproariously at.
If nobody laughed at them maybe they would make better jokes!
Load More Replies...I know this is supposed to be a lighthearted post, but I'm so sorry your ex was like that. I'm glad you're no longer with them if they were acting like that! <3

Load More Replies...Before diving deeper into the chokehold Boomers have us in, we have to go back to generational origins. It all started following World War II, in 1946 when more babies were born than ever before. 3.4 million, to be exact, which was 20% more than the year before. The spike in new births during this period is known as the baby boom (hence the name).
And they are correct, there is a solid bunch out there who have no clue what it is to do an honest day's work.
At 68 years old I've seen both sides of this. Honestly, I think we had it wrong - what we call "an honest days work" is close to indentured servitude. I admire the people who work to live rather than live to work.
Load More Replies...My Grandfather said that and he was born in 1907, god rest his soul. So I think it’s more an observation than something a generation does. Also, is it just me or do the people who are “boomers this or gen Z that” just always pointing fingers and claiming generalizations about those who are not of their own generation? Just wondering as my Grandfather would say.
Board Panda seems to like these kinds of threads that pit one group against another, with no basis on what is being said actually limited to those groups. And then you get their other threads that condemn this exact same behavior if it hits on one of their "pet peeves". I notice that these posts are originally "X/Twitter" posts, and that should tell you something about what kind of people are posting such nonsense.
Load More Replies...There is nothing so easy to do as the job the other person does, so that is not really work. At least according to my mother who predates boomers.
I don't get it. Is this about being against thinking people should work or against noticing those who haven't worked?
Practical reasons. Can't run out of electricity, doesn't experience problems with internet connectivity and keeps working even after falling from heights
Dern toot'n. Like Verena says. A paper copy in a fire resistant file drawer in my home is always there, and I own it.
True. Even if the utility company forces me to receive the bill electronically I will print it out, record the bank payment details (in red pen of course) on it and add it to the large pile of pain bills
“large pile of pain bills”… a very accurate typo. And I agree with the rest of the comment completely. I’m from Gen X, and I love being able to go into the file box and find exactly the statement I’m looking for.
Load More Replies...No, they don’t. They do not want to pay for the paper or the ink. Unless you mean they like business to print things for them, like receipts or business related things that the business is doing g for them. If you wanna print something at my mommas house you BEST ask her first and it better be for a good reason cause ink ain’t cheap.
I print a few things, but certainly not everything. Sometimes I prefer to read a piece of paper rather than have to start up my laptop to check on something.
Especially if you need information from one source to enter into another it is very nice to print the one out to have beside you, when doing it.
Load More Replies...kinda with the boomers on this one- Paper isn't really the problem - how we get it currently maybe, but it would be so easy to switch to bamboo.
Or their music that for some reason they do not realize can be heard through headphones :( ETA I'm Gen X and it drives me bonkers.
Load More Replies...It's almost exclusively young people that I ever see doing this
Load More Replies...Those were not boomers. They either have the airpods, or no clue what facebook/insta is. And by airpods, I am including all the look-a-likes for android users here. (Or headphones)
Yes the only people I encounter who seem to not realize their phones can be used with headphones are younger ones who just have to have everyone around them "enjoy" their music with them. ETA I'm Gen X and it drives me bonkers.
Load More Replies...Many of us Boomers don't use Facebook and really have no idea even what Instagram is.
When I hear any electronics at a loud level (in public), it is almost always someone young.
I feel like this isn't age specific, I've seen lots of teenagers/kids doing this as well
The country had to somehow adapt to the increase in children. For instance, the counties had to build numerous schools in the 1940s and '50s while simultaneously filling them with trained staff and teachers. In Los Angeles alone, a new school opened every month from 1946 to 1964. If math is mathing, it comes to about 216 schools in 18 years.
I've gotten a lot of money back after discovering mistakes. Maybe you have endless funds, but not everybody is so blessed.
I'm just concerned that there have been so many mistakes made that you've gotten "a lot" of money back. Like, what's happening in those stores?
Load More Replies...Isn't that called being responsible? There have been times when something was accidentally rung up twice and not caught and other purchase errors. Checking the receipt saves you time, later annoyance, and potentially money.
So we can go back and complain when we are overcharged (or keep walking briskly if we were undercharged)
Frankly (and I'm a boomer) I'm guilty of not looking at the receipt, but my wife does, and I would say that she catches errors as much as 1/4 of the time. People just assume that with all the modern technology that mistakes don't happen, but they certainly do, especially on sale items.
Load More Replies...I always check my receipts...easier to find the errors while in the store
mostly because inflation has made prices so high you are like "JFC what the heck ate all my money in that cart?"
If there's a mistake, it makes sense to deal with it while you're still in the store.
OMG - am I a boomer??? Gen X here - I always look at the receipt on the way out of the store to make sure there were no errors. I've caught quite a few - wrong item price in the system, discount or coupon not applied, etc.
And your point is? What is wrong with expressing kindness to another person?
Feels like you're taking this way too seriously. No one is saying there's anything wrong with expressing kindness at all. It's just one of those generational differences to not make a new post.
Load More Replies...I think they're trying not to gum up your feed with even more b******t well-wishes
In 2022, this population totaled 69 million people in the U.S. Today, their wealth in North America makes them the main buyers and focus of companies.
An example is the wide range of anti-aging products that target this specific generation. It became widespread in 1981 when Maybelline's “Moisture Whip” was advertised by Lynda Carter (famous for her Wonder Woman role), who encouraged women to purchase it. At the time, the oldest person in this generation was 35 and was already targeted with various anti-age creams, which, according to experts, were full of empty promises.
If a boomer is talking to you about the traffic, weather and such, you now know that you are basically a stranger that they have no connection to and they are just trying to make polite conversation. What's more in this day and age it is not too safe to talk about a lot of things like politics and such. On the other hand, I think you will find that when they connect up with someone that shares their interests the conversation will be much more interesting and indepth.
GenX and I do the same because… what else can you safely talk about?
Load More Replies...I am a boomer, and I don't ever say that, but sometimes I contact the company to tell them of some employee who went an extra "mile" for me.
Obvious hyperbole for emphasis, but nothing gets past you.
Load More Replies...We also had appliances that were expected to last over 10 years. We were thrifty, and repurposed a lot (our parents were kids of the Great Depression). We weren't buying, buying, buying to save the economy, which is the biggest lie younger people have been fed. We just didn't have the fancy stuff that's available these days, so we could save more. Today's disposable economy is hurting everyone. You never get a chance to save. Everything falls apart and few are able to fix things, so off to the dump they go and off to Amazon you shop. You all deserve better. In that, we've failed you. I am very sorry.
That quiet wage cut, when the cost of living grows faster than your paycheck.
Load More Replies...Admittedly right now is a terrible time to buy a house, but get real, they've never been cheap.
The interest rate on my first house was 15.75%. The house was $23,700. I made $3.75 an hour. You do the math.
We never saw 18%, but we did have a mortgage at 12% for a while. For some of us, it really wasn't as easy as some folks seem to think these days. But with that said, I DO understand how it's MUCH harder - if not impossible -- these days to get into a home of your own. We paid $600 for our first VCR. Please tell me when houses were anywhere near that price. Home prices are INSANE now. And damn all the investors and Airbnb owners who are driving up prices even more by taking so many homes off the market for buyers who want to LIVE in those homes! 😠
Yeah, umh, the median income was also much, much less than today. The medium income in 1981 was also $22,300 - https://www.census.gov/library/publications/1983/demo/p60-137.html#:~:text=In%201981%2C%20the%20median%20family,income%20decreased%20by%203.5%20percent. So yeah, an 18% interest on a house that cost, on average, $68,000 was ENORMOUS!
You have to compare house prices relative to income! "Expressed in 2015 dollars, the national average price of a resale home back in 1981 was $198,094. If you took out a one-year mortgage back then at mid-year (that would have been the smart thing to do with interest rates so high), your rate would have been 19.75 per cent. With a down payment of 10 per cent, your monthly payments would have been $2,914. Today's equivalent would be $1,880 per month. That's based on the average national price of $450,886 in May and a five-year fixed-rate mortgage rate of 2.59 per cent (with mortgage rates at rock-bottom levels, a five-year mortgage term makes more sense right now). The lesson here for home buyers is clear: Changes in interest rates have much more of an impact on affordability than changes in price." - quoted from https://www.theglobeandmail.com/real-estate/mortgages-and-rates/comparing-canadas-housing-market-with-the-high-rates-of-1981/article25169755/
In fact, Baby Boomers are living longer than any generation before them. Because of that, investments in healthcare and medical technology continue to grow as more of them age. It's predicted that the main problem in 2030 will be caring for the elders of this generation. To meet their care needs, necessary social and public changes will need to be put in place so it doesn’t become a long-term issue for society.
Same, I spent half my life touch typing, I can hold a conversation while copying text, looking the other person in the eye periodically but never looking at the screen.
Load More Replies...I think the same can be said for the newer generations watching a "boomer" or anyone that is a true touch typist on a real keyboard. The main difference is that the "texting" is a ton of abbreviations and mistakes, whereas the touch typist is using full words, sentences, and actual grammar.
Believe me, when a Boomer says you're "fast" sometimes it doesn't mean you're doing something speedily.
Guilty as charged. We didn't grow up using our prehensile thumbs like you did.
texting = use microphone and proof read it. Im not going to get phalange tunnel syndrome trying to text type on a tiny screen
I'm Gen X and I personally I HATE The Office/Big Bang/Sheldon gifs/memes/comments/references that everyone seems to make ("OMG he's just like Sheldon!!!!"/"Haha what a Jim thing to do!") I've never seen any of those shows and I loathe that everyone just assumes that everyone has seen The Office/etc. and that it's the pinnacle of entertainment. I never call people out on it, but it makes me *angy*. XD Same for people who comment "OMG HARRY POTTER!!" on any image that has someone with glasses on XD
I loathe the office. Because comedy has to be exaggerated to be funny. And I've worked with management like the office
Load More Replies...Huh? Whatever. There are plenty of boomers who couldn't care less about this stuff.
Am I the only one who feels like people are conflating boomers and Gen X??? (millenial here...)
I (a boomer) like using porn hub memes, they are so unimaginative yet compelling somehow.
Wow, whenever I see someone I know in a store, I just leave and never show my face again. Who cares if I need food? I'll just starve for a lil while lol
No. We greet them politely at aisle one, then skip to aisle three so we won't bump into them again, only to find they've done the same.
Eh... Whether I know someone or not, I might still have a conversation with them.
What a ridiculous statement. 🤦🏻♀️ As if people other than boomers don't feel the same way.
Additionally, as many of them refuse to retire, they are affecting the labor market. Boomers are holding onto jobs that could be filled by the next generation. Younger people’s career opportunities are already limited, and as the over-50 crowd stays put, it further impacts future employment.
not cool when explaining a joke, but very cool when practicing active listening skills.
Load More Replies...I've never checked anyone doing that to see how old they might be, I just assumed it was an annoy guy thing that transcends generations.
Well, guilty as charged but you wouldn't have understood so there's that.
That's because you can't recognize a joke and feel the need to explain that lemmings don't jump off cliffs in real life. So you get an "it's a joke, sweet pea" reaction.
Just because you label it a joke doesn’t mean it’s remotely funny.

sorry to be that guy ... line of sight. Site = place. Sight = direction of vision. :( sorry sorry
Load More Replies...This comment indicates diminished capacity on the part of the OP. Many devices, which use a remote, have a sensor on the device to pick up a light signal emitted by the remote. Many locations, increasingly when the battery starts to become weak, cannot rely on reflected light to trigger the desired effect, UNLESS you give the remote direct line of sight to the sensor.
Yeah. And sometimes, for laughs, we point them at people and pretend we're controlling them.
In the early days, like 25 years ago, I had a 'universal' remote that was in the shape of a pistol. Worked ok, and lasted a few years. Eventually, it broke and I found they mustn't make that shape anymore - naughty.
Load More Replies...I have to point directly at the thing because I'm electrically dysfunctional: appliances hate me and quit on me frequently. I can put brand new batteries in the remote and still need to point it directly at the box. It's why I have to occasionally hold my phone away from my body for things to load properly - keeping it right next to me makes it go blank.
However, the persistence of Boomers had some positives, as productivity dropped when they retired. People in this generation often pride themselves on their work and are typically competitive and more hardworking than the youngsters. Also, let's not forget that they were the ones who popularized the saying “live to work,” so you better believe they’re not joking when it comes to their jobs.
Not me. I'm one of those rare birds who doesn't like coffee! I must also mention that I've never seen a coffee grinder in a grocery store around here. Must be an English thing.
I miss being able to afford whole bean coffee, but I still have an awesome KitchenAid grinder so I wouldn't need the store grinder
It's...because they....watched too much....William Shatner....
Load More Replies...Because we know how to use punctuation........and other things.....to express pauses and emotions.
C**p, I must be... turning into a...Boomer. Because I love ellipses.
Meanwhile What's The Deal With People Who Capitalize Every Word Like They're Writing A Book Title
Because it’s one really easy way to tell who may actually know how to use punctuation in a decent way rather than having absurd run-on sentences…like they missed out several key classes in school or something…
We were taught on typewriters by martinets who timed us with stopwatches and red marked our mistakes, posting them on bulletin boards for all to see. And ellipses are part of standard grammatical writing. Plus, we're generally better understood.
Because they learned punctuation at school and they're using the ellipses to imply that something missing, inviting the reader to fill the gaps? See also capital letters.
But with boomers now kicking back, relaxing, and enjoying random things from this list, it has created a world with fewer people to replace them or take care of them. It’s because they had fewer children than their own parents. Since they entered the workforce, the American fertility rate has declined from 3.7 children per woman to about 2.
One way to make up for it is to open doors to immigrants. However, elected politicians from this generation have slowly closed this opportunity. Smaller families and anti-immigration policies are creating a gap in the labor force that isn’t going to be filled any time soon.
Cut backs no. Skeleton crew to maximize profits yes.
Load More Replies...I've been in businesses that had a number of people on staff - but only one person was working there. (Hint - he wasn't the manager.)

At least Boomers are willing and capable of having a phone conversation. As opposed to the seemingly crippling angst of all younger generations who react with "This could have been an email!" with near psychotic trauma.
Yeah, kids these days being triggered by a ringing phone are hilarious.
Load More Replies...In addition, they spent years taking housing away from the next generation. In 2019, they owned 42% of American homes and especially dominated coastal areas like New York and Florida. Even though boomers just began selling their homes, it’s not happening fast enough to keep up with the demand. Young families are struggling to settle down because there aren’t enough accommodations near promising job opportunities.
You can decode that pretty easily, as a home you can finance rather than rent. Typically, these are smaller than desired, and as the loan is paid off and equity grows, it gets shifted to a bigger place. If your income doesn't grow as hoped, you still build up equity at least. Renting is too expensive, perversely enough.
The punchline here is the fact that there is virtually no such thing as a starter home anymore. Not sure if you keep up with the news much, but this is a widely understood problem. The reality is that with the way things are and are going a starter home will very likely be the only home folks will ever be able to afford. Also, when you factor in even just maintenance for example that a homeowner is responsible for, renting can absolutely be more affordable than a home/mortgage. Hell a lot of financial experts are at this point encouraging people to rent over owning. Every situation has nuances, but still.
Load More Replies...My starter home is an '89 Ford with a bunk over the cab, and I'm lucky to have it
Well, ya'all gotta start somewhere. Not everyone can move into a mansion when buying a first home.
Not everyone can save up a down payment and then get a mortgage for any size house in any neighborhood. My mother bought a house in 1983 for $35k. Redfin says that house is with $234k now. That is not in line with inflation over the last 40 years
Load More Replies...As a "boomer" a starter home goes like this. My 32 year old son is looking to buy his first home. Just him. He earns $75k + a year. Has zero debt, nothing, zilch. He has $60k deposit sitting in the bank. This, according to some, should get him a house with 3+ bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, decent sized garden, double garage, all the bells and whistles in a "nice" subdivision. The reality is this: his starter home is a 3 bedroom, 1 bathroom, 400 sqare foot, 115 year old house on an 1800 square foot freehold bit of land. He needs a 20% deposit. That means he can borrow, with his deposit included, $432000. That's what we "boomers" call a starter home, not some McMansion you can't afford.
I disagree. I'm Gen X and my first starter home was an 3 tiny bed, 1 bath ranch in a lousy part of town. It was 132k. It is now valued at 190k. Still very much in line with current "starter home" range. Maybe your son needs to sacrifice where and how much house a starter home actually is.

Maybe because they value their time, as well as other's? As far as cold goes, maybe because they are of tougher stock and not prone to whining?
I remember so many taxis just taking off because they refused to wait 3 minutes for us to get our coats on and to walk outside. We`d have to wait another half hour or more for another one to come by. So knowing exactly when it's arriving is not always the best way of catching your ride.
I am a boomer and originally from Mich, live in Indiana right now and I dispise the cold.
Sometimes you just want to escape whosoever's in the house. In fact, maybe that's why you're taking an Uber and leaving.
Well if I could count on the driver being able to find the pick-up spot without getting lost...
Boomers can be considered lucky, as they grew up with stable economic growth that continued into their adult years with just a couple of hiccups. They are retiring to enjoy the most unhinged things and activities, leaving a shrinking labor market and economy with expensive housing in their wake. On the bright side, freeing up positions can help those struggling to find employment, and boomers will finally get the rest they worked so hard for.
My experience is that there are inconsiderate jerks in every generation.
Airplane seats are so cramped and uncomfortable that anyone is entitled to get out of them whenever they want/need to.
Our arthritis is killing us, we gotta go potty, and we gotta take our meds a.s.a.p. Really, dunno why it's so important.
Mostly because their backs hurt after sitting in the uncomfortable seats.
Yup. I whole heartedly agree with this one. I live in a Mexican town with a lot of snowbirds ( American and Canadians that come down for the winter) I often am on the same flight as them and the above is 100% true. They don’t love waiting in line at any airport establishment at all.
Once had a boomer try to take my carryon with him off the plane. His wife said he didn't even pack a carryon!
The boomers also block the way for other passengers boarding the plane. They didn't call your section yet get out of the way!
Load More Replies...No they didn’t. There are going to be more “good movies” in the past because there has been about 100 years worth of them. If you’re looking at the “present (about the last 7 years or so) then there will be less good movies because less have been made.
Load More Replies...Indiana Jones and the last crusade has more depth, storyline and content than the explosion driven 3h "adventure" movies nowadays.
The only time this is justified is after watching Avengers: Infinity War.
I can think of only one film, where I have heard a Boomer react that way, and that film was "Enemy" with Jake Gyllenhaal. Watch it, and I suspect you'll have the same reaction.
Boomers don’t go to concerts. This is the worst f*****g list I’ve seen on BP in a long time and that’s really saying something.
No one should be taking videos at concerts. Please! Just enjoy the moment! And who is ever going to watch that video except maybe one time??
I'm GenX I always check if a concert I'm planning to attend has a "No Phones out" rule, At my height it's hard to see the stage enough many times that the last thing I need is a wall of phones in front of me
Load More Replies...Vs videotaping it on a phone which is held up overhead so the people behind you cant see anything? And, no, I don't take videos with a flash on anywhere in public
Seriously? It’s always millennials and gen y who do this in my experience. Boomers often don’t know how to use that function without help
What Boomers are going to concerts? (Well, the Rolling Stones tour is being sponsored by AARP, so there's that)
Wth is "wacky jazz"? Oops, I must be a Boomer because I'm using "wacky" punctuation, quotation marks! 🙄😮💨
Is wacky jazz like Wacky Dust? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u6XaCh64v1s&ab_channel=The78Prof
You can take all social media groups like fb and Instagram make them all disappear as far as I know. Don't use rhem. Don't care, it wouldn't hurt my feelings one bit.
I hate to tell you this, but alot of what you see on this site is taken from FB and Instagram. Its pretty much all from some sort of social media.
Load More Replies...Don't have FB or Tweeter or anything like that...only have twitch because I tried a videogame on it. Don't care about influencers and can't understand why 10 seconds of a dog video about them doing something I consider normal behavior something I should bother with
What’s FaceBook? Is that the fascist tool for world domination? Or is that TikTok?
We are confused. The bigger question is why no one wants to remove the confusion. Maybe they are confused also.
i have a flip leather case for my iphone12+...haven't broken one yet
I know some men who like them they don't know very many women. I would not use a phone case if I didn't need to protect my phone and I use a clear case because I have a red phone let a red case
Part two of our secret code. Using punctuation correctly confuses younger readers and throwing in a random emoji adds to the fun
Double spaces after full stops is muscle memory from typewriters & old wordprocessing programmes back in the days before Word, etc. It took a veerrrryyy long time for me to stop double spacing after full stops & I'm X and learned to touch type on a typewriter.
Lord, this is me as well! When my programs kept flagging my double-spaces as grammatical errors, that's when I - finally - learned to use the single space.
Load More Replies...There is much more to semicolons that most people know, the OP especially included.
Load More Replies...I will live and die by the Oxford comma - it's the only way it looks right to me.
Load More Replies...As a Boomer, I agree with most of these generalizations. Double spaces after periods? Guilty. Because my failing Boomer eyes can't see well enough without a double space. Abuse of ellipses? Profoundly guilty. Not sure why ... As a Boomer I virtually never use emojis.
I find it much easier to read a paragraph when there are double spaces, so I'll use them until the day I die!
Load More Replies...They think it's part of the lyrics of that old "Cultural Club" song.
Load More Replies...Strangely enough punctuation rules have changed down through the years I taught college level classes where APA format was required it went from one space to two spaces to one space after a period I'm not sure where it is now. But what I was in school it was always two because it defaulted that way because people used to type real typewriters
Ummm, PJJ, that's the way we were taught. It's how I earned my bread and butter following earning my English degree.
Never saw it either. Now if they had said "Boomers rarely use emojis" I would have, yes, we grew up in a time before texting when you used words to tell someone what you meant instead some symbols that can easily be mistaken for something else. It is the same for texting. The abbreviations and such were created, because the "media" didn't allow for a good way to communicate (texting at the beginning was very limited in the number of characters per text, which is in fact why twitter had that same limitation at the beginning).
Never hurts to ask. Some of us need all the help we can get. Bargain hunting and gathering was extensively practiced in our day. Habits die hard.
I notice how a lot of threads on Bored Panda talk about how expensive it is today especially by the younger generations, but it seems like it assumed that there isn't any room for finding different ways to save money.
Load More Replies...I'm impressed. How have you found the time to dine in every restaurant on the planet?
Load More Replies...When you may be expecting to hear bad news it helps to talk to a friend, check on Fluffy, call the funeral home, or our lawyer. At our age, doctors often tell us things we reeeeally don't want to know.
For some strange reason, the OP has never been the recipient of such calls.
Um, no! I don't know where you are, but I have never witnessed ANYONE making a phone call in a doctor's waiting room. People step out into the entryway to make calls.
Boomers were happy with a cheeseburger, fries and Coke. Who're the people demanding fluffier buns, fancy coffees, and more variety?
I doubt they like waiting too long for their take away food, just the same as anybody. All these ‘Boomers love’ things are rank. Not amusing at all. Anyway, they’re least likely to hop out of their car and punch the lady in the car ahead of them in the face if she took too long to order. This happened in my town. The guy was in his 30’s
But that's why it's called fast food; places like McDonald's were a bit crappy, but if you wanted something quick and cheap then quality was the trade-off you made, but now they're still not great but they're also not much cheaper than a regular restaurant and they're also not a whole lot quicker.
McD's when I first started working there had a time limit we had to meet of 35 seconds from time order was placed until the food was on the tray. And a total time at counter of 1m30s... Used to be you got your meal free if it went over 2 mins.
Load More Replies...it is true though. twenty years ago a place like arbys had to have you your food in 45 seconds. Now they don't care about anything like speed or quality.

Load More Replies...I've never heard such a thing. On the rare occasion that I have Mickey D's, my order always takes longer than two minutes, but then, I order a plain cheeseburger because I don't care for pickles, mustard, etc, so I already know it's going to take a few minutes. But hey, I get a fresh cheeseburger!
Or better still, "Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition!"
Load More Replies...When, anymore, of course nothing is. Imagine what a world where things were actually happening in real life right where you were would be like.
I'm Gen X and I've done this. We didn't have "the name of the song comes up on the display" radios in my day XD
Shhh….don't draw attention to us gen xers let the boomers and the millennials fight it out
Load More Replies...It's a good default when you don't know. Makes Googling the song much easier.
I think that quite often the title comes from the chorus. But that's just me.
I have lots of books from the 1920s to 1940s, where "gay" has a totally different meaning. It once just meant "happy"
I'm currently reading The Famous Five books to my grandkids. Gay is used frequently as is Mother, Father, please, thank you and excuse me. Oops sorry for teaching them other words to describe happy and how kids use good manners.
Load More Replies...I have heard that one before, but to say that it is "commonly said" REALLY stretching it. Hearing it once or twice in your lifetime isn't "love to say" in my book.
Load More Replies...Depends on where in the country you are from I'm a boomer my aunt who is over 90 called them shows because that's what they called them in the midwest where she grew up and lives
"TV Show" is a term that is growing less accurate by the moment. People watch programs on handheld devices, laptops and tablets, as often as they do on "TVs".
I once answered a question about how much TV I watch with this in mind, only to realize afterwards by TV the questioner meant live broadcasting. Oops.
Load More Replies...Actually they are programmes. Programs are things that run on computers.
This is just stupid. It never occurs to this twit that what what we learned as children?
I'm a millennial and l don't see a problem with calling a program a program.
boomer musicians? you mean people who could play an instrument and sing without autotune?
LOL - So the duck-face selfies from the newer generations are less awkward ?
What? This sounds like op witnessed a very specific scenario and is referring to it as a boomer trait.
Why do so many younger people pose for selfie after selfie? Preferences!
Because the marriage will probably be deleted before the photos are?
Having a quality camera doesn't guarantee good photo any more than a quality guitar guarantees you'll play a song well
Load More Replies...Never, not one time, has any boomer from my large circle of boomers, used this term.
That was from before adequate radiation protection was installed on them. We all got a few rays in those days.
George W. Bush may have said it, but he was just struggling to say nuclear.
Is it faster than typing and the phone. You kids should learn to use technology.
i don't have a Siri, I have a dog who can find things for me...like hotdogs
They were promised to live like the Jetsons. At least they can talk to Rosie.
Are boomers expected to even know who Dua Lipa is? Serious question. Boomers are age 59-77 right now.
Amazingly I am old AF and I have heard of her.. I think her main selling point is she is quite pretty. Who DOES p**s me off is "megan thee stallion". I just want to tell the imbecile that her name literally means: "megan you are a male horse." for f**k sake.
i think that would be, "Megan Thou Art A Stallion"
Load More Replies...Well, this millennial has no idea who that is, nor any idea of how to pronounce their name…
There's nothing Gen Xers love more than mispronouncing Maurice Chevalier's name.
Consider myself an Xennial (the cusp of Gen-X and Millennial), also consider myself old, never heard of Dua Lipa, yet managed to pronounce it correctly. Do I get a gold star now? 😄
I'm a boomer. I know who she is and how it's pronounced. Why is that a big deal?
Plundered what now? If you mean an inheritance, they worked for it, earned it, and can do what they want with it. I say enjoy the life, you deserve it!
I have no kids, but if I did, by the time I die they would be in their 60s, and if they haven't got their finances in order by that time then all they would probably do with my money is blow it.
Load More Replies...Winner! Of the stupid comment award (notice the double space after the exclamation point).
Notice how this poster can't form two complete sentences.
Load More Replies...Wow you really have opened my eyes. My 14 year old niece swears that her mother ruins everything. I never thought about the possibility she could continue saying that for the rest of her life. Thank you for opening my eyes to that possibility.
I could ever imagine doing this. Like many of the things on the list.
I am a Boomer and I have done perhaps 3 things on this list. I would f****** never touch a strangers tattoo. But I do still use double spaces after sentences because that is the way God intended it (and my old Boomer eyes really have trouble noticing a period / single space at the end of a sentence).
Load More Replies...Senior Boomer here...this entire topic is very revealing on how clueless 'non-boomers' are about being a real boomer. If you asked, we would tell you but with limited attention span and listening skills, non-boomers would just blink blankly and go back to gawking at their cell phone. (How's that for a scathing generalization!)
If it weren't for boomers, there would be no internet and all these twerps would be speaking German. ;)
Load More Replies...And gee, another generation made a fictional House in a fictional wizard school their entire personality. XD Some people from EVERY generation have made "xyz thing" their entire personalities. It's not a Boomer thing.
Load More Replies...Again not me. Got use to drinking water. Don like the taste of flavored liquids anymore. Except for unsweetened tea.
Let's all consider what, if anything, makes up the OP's entire personality.
This is a quality ageist post, BP. “Here’s a buncha things we hate about old people, let’s make fun of them.”. Say, BP, could we get a list of approved things that are ok to criticize?
But notice how the boomers are upset that these posts aren't tailored to their specific interests as individuals.
Load More Replies...Ageism is no different than racism or other preconceived notions about groups of people. Not cool, BP.
@Thenatural; are you thick? Bullying, hatred and discrimination come in many forms but they are all fundamentally the same thing. It's not a competition. Mocking someone for their age is discriminatory as is mocking someone for their skin colour. Neither are acceptable.
Load More Replies...Is anyone else fed up with BP promoting the "This generation V that generation" or "I hate generation whatever" is is as bad as the type lazy stereo types TV and movies has been doing for years. It just adds to and promotes hate.
I’m fed up with BP creating division, negativity and outrage in 80% of posts. This site used to be THE BEST. There are more positive sites out there.
Load More Replies...I''m GenX and I found this post super ageist and crappy. Most of the old-people generalisations are true of any person who is a bit dumb or not keeping up with tech. It smelt a bit like kids who can't tell someone's age.
I'm a boomer and don't do any of these things. Just sounds like a bunch of ignorant people whining.
Just wait until they get a bit OLDER and become more wise. Like us. :)
Load More Replies...This may be the dumbest “list” I’ve seen on BP and that’s really saying something. Almost none of these things are “boomers” and even less are things most of us have even seen or noticed.
This is a stupid list. It’s mostly just baseless insults at the older generation. I’m genX and do a myriad of these things as do my kids who are 25, 22, and 16. (And yes, I love my Oxford comma. What a boomer thing…)
