I find those with 10+ years very emotional, just to think how much time they've spent together, how the dogs see with loving eyes and trust their family, how much love you can see in the people, and I imagine how painful it will be when the day they have to part ways comes.
Same, just reminds me they have such short lives compared to ours, a lot of that waiting for us to come home. I have been inconsolable when my dogs have died, it is the worse.
Load More Replies...i love these! i grew up with my first dog from 2 - 17...almost 30 years later and i still miss her
So much emotion, I love animals so much, especially dogs. My baby is 13 yrs old, I named him Irwin after Steve Irwin, I couldn't think of a better name to honor. Recently Irwin was diagnosed with melanoma , we're trying all options, doing ok at the moment. I can say with my heart & soul, he not only saved me, his love is the most pure unconditional love I've ever had. I pray we have more time together. Love these kinds of stories BP..
A family friend had an Akita named Coontach (Tash for short). He was 13 years old and absolutely LOVED my 5 year old daughter, Brittany. We had explained to her how the Akita was the protector of the Japanese royal family & to this day were still very highly regarded. She wondered if Tash would protect HER? (She's half Japanese). So I said, "Let's find out". While Tash was inside, we went into the alley behind the house & Brittany let out one of those screams only little girls can make. We literally heard whump, whump, whump and there he was - on point and on guard - directly in front of her. Poor old guy felt it for the rest of the day, but my daughter beamed for weeks.
I so enjoy seeing a puppy growing up and old with the same person. Makes my heart sing. I volunteered at a no-kill shelter where so many older dogs were dropped off because of their age. Adopt for life. Thanks for the beautiful pictures!
I don’t know where these folks got their beautiful gigantic dogs!! My little Pomeranian grew, but dang, I can still lift her!!!
Cool article but I can't put my pic on it. I took in my pug boi when he was 5 and he's going on 11 now (still handsome as hell) but he looks pretty much the same. He slotted right into my life like a long-lost missing puzzle piece. Just pointing out that puppies are fun and nice but older dogs can be amazing too, and our pics are still stunning as well, lol.
