30 Weird And Nasty Things People Actually Put In Writing That Should’ve Just Stayed In Their Thoughts
InterviewPoets write love notes in a bid to win their lover’s heart, dreamers put their notes in a bottle and let the sea take care of it, and many people like you and me, they can imagine their shopping trip with a grocery list.
But sometimes, notes, or rather their writers, take a more sinister turn. As a result, from time to time, people spot passive-aggressive, weird and questionable notes and messages glued to anywhere from shop windows, coffee places, their own buildings, you name it.
Below we wrapped up some of the most mildly infuriating notes that make you wonder why some thoughts land on paper when they'd have been better off kept inside the writer's head.

This Made Me Mad
That's heartbreaking. It looks so well done. Hope they found a different baby (and more appreciative parent!) to gift it to.
I don't have a baby, but I love it and would happily accept it. And...*gasp* I'm even someone's daughter
Load More Replies...Looks like someone thinks rainbows are only for "the gays". That's a gorgeous quilt. I've got a *lot* of rainbow colored stuff in my room, by the way, and I'm cis and straight lolol
I said this before, some people think "the gays" invented the rainbow 🙄 bloody ignorant
Load More Replies...It's not even a rainbow really, those are pastels smdh
Load More Replies...Jen's loss is another person's gain. That really is a beautiful quilt. The OP is quite talented. I also can't believe that the ingrate wrote "Seriously?!?!" like "duh"? She definitely does not know how to be gracious or polite.
I know. I would be thrilled to get this quilt and would be so grateful that OP put in all that thought and effort to make it for me.
Load More Replies...I think your stitches are beautiful and your intentions are good. The right recipient will treasure it.
Virtually every recipient but Jen. I hope there are no more like her. Poor daughter.
Load More Replies...I would love this blanket. I have many rainbow things, I had the Adidas Pride Shelltops... I'm cis and heterosexual... I also am not a raving homophobe and give zero f*cks if I'm mistaken as "one". Rainbows are the best. Jen is a tw4t
I'm a straight cis woman and I freaking love rainbows. They make me happy. If someone mistakes me for gay, *shrug*
Load More Replies...Inappropriate colours… so she’s ruling out the entire colour spectrum for her daughter. I guess she’ll be stuck in black, grey and white then!
I am almost certain that Jen's colour palette runs along the beige and ivory tones because she thinks that they're classy and tasteful, which is ironic because that is everything she is not.
Load More Replies...I really don't understand how these aren't appropriate colors for a baby girl? **EDITED for grammar.
my best guess is that the mother is incredibly homophobic and doesn't want her daughter even associated with rainbows bc those are used as symbols of affirmation for the lgbqtia community
Load More Replies...That's a magnificent afghan with very good, even work. OP not only went outside her beginner's comfort zone to try a new method, but thought about the recipient with every stitch which is what you do when creating a gift (C2C means Corner to Corner, meaning the rows are done diagonally instead of straight across traditional rows). If Jen had any clue how much time, expense and effort went into this, she should be ashamed.
I am a heterosexual man, happily married, 64 years old and my friend introduced me to some of their friends as "colourful" because I like to wear all kinds of colourful clothing. I have a rainbow tie and one of my gay work-colleagues asked me if I would deign to wear something "rainbow"! Why is wearing a rainbow-coloured thing so negative? If your friend was deeply "Christian", how does she react to the "coat of many colours" so beloved of Christian people? OP, I feel sorry for your friend. It must be awful going through life so blinkered and unable to live in a modern world!
What a hideously disgusting response to the MOST lovely of gestures! I was a late bloomer to crocheting myself, and never really "knew" how anything would turn out, I'd just "wing it" and hope for the best. So, I am EVER so impressed by such exquisitely dedicated each and every stitch is placed! In summation: You Rule They Suck And I'm envious of the darling who will be so fortunate to call that FAB piece of crafting "their own"! I'm glad I was able to appreciate the sweetest of intentions by seeing this story and view such a generous gift! Peace, Blessings and Love, my Dear! (And keep up the good work-you are a NATURAL-born crochet artist!) 😊🙏🏻💜💛
Huh? Little girls love rainbows and colorful stuff. It doesn't have to mean more than that. This woman is unbelievable! 😠
Well, I'd love it if someone gave my daughter a crocheted blanket, and I don't even have a daughter!
Jen is a completely disgusting individual, and I feel so sorry for the baby it is going to raise!!!
And another dreadful person weeded out of your life. No further need to be pleasant or engage with this horror of a woman, saving your time, and leaving more for people who are actual good humans.
She doesn't deserve it or you. Tell her about the symbolism of the rainbow in the Bible.
... that's a rainbow pattern. It has almost all of the colors. What color do they actually consider to be the one that's ppropriate for their baby? Vanta black?
Umm, it’s rainbow coloured. How is this not appropriate? You know how many girls like rainbows? Lots of them! (And boys too!)
No definitely out of line, I'm sorry I would like the world know, I would actually sign up for fb twitter, Snapchat you name it! I wouldn't name the person, but you wouldn't need to. That thing would go viral in a second and a half. That blanket is stunning and I would have been proud to bring any of my babies home in it. Chin up the rest of the world can see the love and thought you out into it.
i am not new to crochet and i have yet to try a corner to corner pattern. seems that this person who received the gift is just a little too homophobic. i am actually in the process of making a baby afghan and it is definitely not a 'traditional' pattern. i just hope i get a better reception than she did.
Aside from being controlling, it is ungracious and rude. It would end up being her daughter’s favorite, It is bright and cheery and children need that color in their new lives.
Hey Jen, I take it, that you would preferred it all white, with a matching pointy hood?
Beautiful work! Rude recipient must be MAGA & thought this depicted a rainbow. Sad!
Jeez, I would have been thrilled if someone had knitted that for my baby! It's beautiful!
WOW...I knit and crochet and this is a considerable amount of work to put in for someone you work with. What an incredibly thoughtful gift. At least now you know your coworkers "true colors" and you can avoid her except for work interactions.
It appears that you will not need to worry about any more presents for that family !
What’s wrong with the colours? Pastel colours are quite girly i don’t understand?
The more pastel/lighter the color is the younger the person being referred to is: https://file.wikileaks.org/file/FBI-pedophile-symbols.pdf
Load More Replies...How incredibly ungrateful & rude. Crochet & knitting takes time, as does any handcrafted item.
And now I play a game in my head to guess which faith the new mother practices. Any hints?
That blanket is beautiful, and appropriate, and your coworker is a b*tch.
That stitching is lovely—it’s beautiful. Jen is an ungrateful doodyhead
If I was married and just had a baby, I would’ve been incredibly thankful for such a thoughtful gift! I can’t understand how some people can’t just have gratitude….
Then she could donate it and you'd be surprised how many blankets a baby can go through. A complete YTA to woman who did this. For op you can donate it charity for needy moms, and I would buy that blanket you did great.
oh no! rainbows! how dare you try to infect that womans daughter with the gay virus! /s
I am NOT new to crochet and I assure you, this is beautiful and I would have been very happy to have this lovely gift that you took your time and heart to create. I gave one similar (with traditional 'boy' colors...this was over 20 years ago) and the parents were very grateful and I'm told the young man still has it.
This just in: Noah boycotts God for making rainbow after the Great Flood
first this blanket is beautiful & very well made.Maybe her child will be a zombie & therefore needs a black blanket. She & her child clearly didn't deserve this beautiful gift .
Perhaps a mud pie to throw at Jen might be appropriate.
Load More Replies...Sorry,why is a pretty rainbow blanket not suitable for a baby girl ,or any baby for that matter?
I would have left a note saying “I’m sorry your daughter will live with one colour as a child. Seems boring.”
It is so sad that this mother couldn't be appreciative of this beautiful handmade blanket
One must hope, that she remembers to keep her daughter indoors if there is a risk of a rainbow in the sky.
that's beautiful, What an ungrateful bi**h . I am sure you could sell this and get back the money you spent on the yarn and your time also.
BRO IT"S NOT GAY. if it was GAY it wouldnt have fuggin TORQUOISE IN IT
ThththththththththththththththththththththththththththHththththththththththththththththth
I hope that once the ungrateful woman's daughter is able express herself, that she loves rainbows, unicorns, sparkles, and all of the colors her mother though were inappropriate...
I agree with mom, anything with rainbow colors should stay away from kids till 21 years.
I am very excited to talk to prospective parents about appropriate colours. Send them all my way.
It looks beautiful the stitch used and the colour gradient. I would be over the moon if someone made this for my new baby. You need to keep her at arms length, she is not someone you need to spend any time that's not necessary with. It really is beautiful xx
I'd remind the giftee (and I'll bet my life she's highly religious) that the rainbow is a sign from a god telling followers it means faithfulness and mercy. BOOM!
That's the most disgusting note I've ever read...shame on her!!! Blanket is beautiful
I see all colours of the rainbow. Which colour does she think is appropriate? Grey? Black? Brown? White?
That's a *BEAUTIFUL* blanket! Anyone would treasure such a lovely handmade gift.
Some people are so flipping ignorant it makes me want to spit nails! What an awful note to leave when you've just given someone a gift - any gift! I can just imagine how appreciative she'll be when she has a baby shower - "yes, I'll keep that - nope, back to store," as she tosses it back to the giver. I'm beginning to feel really sorry for that baby.
That is a beautiful blanket, the ignorant coworker obviously didn't deserve it. I hope this doesn't put the op off creating more wonderful pieces.
I think that blanket is corgeous and that co worker is total a**hole
Your co-worker is a c you next Tuesday. Hope she chokes on a chicken bone.
That is a beautiful piece. Anyone should be pleased that all this work was done on their behalf. You are a good person.
Ah, JEN, are you serious?!?! Could you say, " I'm a bottom feeding homophobe any louder"? SMFH...
Corner to corner, a diagonal pattern, and by no means easy to crochet.
Load More Replies...leave her a brown bag full of dog sh!t instead. a more appropriate gift
In the 1980's it would have been a nice blanket, today it is a symbol of pedophilia and child trafficking.
What?! That's the most ignorant and absurd thing I've ever heard. It is nothing more than a kind gift that someone spent hours making, in soft, pretty colors for a child. If you look for a boogeyman around every corner, that's all you'll ever see.
Load More Replies...it’s… a rainbow. Not all rainbows are inherently gay…
Load More Replies...Are...you being sarcastic? Or are you serious? I honestly can't tell. All I see here is a thoughtful, handmade gift for a new mom, made in an array of colors that might match any decor the new mom had chosen for her nursery.
Load More Replies...To find out when leaving a note to someone is a good idea and when it isn’t, as well as how to sound nice in writing or when it is better to talk face-to-face, Bored Panda reached out to Beth Collier, a communication, creativity, & leadership consultant.
Racist Karen Left This Note
Oh s**t. I dated a Chinese guy for 22 years and I'm a white person who was adopted at birth into a Mexican family. Not only did I sin with interracial dating, I sinned with INTERRACIAL BEING ALIVE!!! XD Also, "a neighbor" is such a racist chode-gargler. I was going to give them cráp for the horribly racist and pejorative term "Indian" vs. "indigenous person" or "Native" or even, you know, the actual tribe name/tribe identity of the person they sent the letter to. Then I remembered that árseholes like "a neighbor" just don't care.
Found In A Tenancy Facebook Group
This is shocking - not that they're trying to unfairly withhold bond, but that they're brazen enough to post about it!
When asked whether leaving a note to your neighbors about something that you don't like is the way to go, Beth said that it depends on the situation.
“A face-to-face conversation can be preferable, as you can get more information (and possibly a resolution) faster from a conversation.” She explained: “For example, your neighbor may not realize that their music is loud or that their barking dog is bothering you, and you might be able to resolve this situation quickly through a short conversation.”

I Was Recently Engaged To My Girlfriend And Someone Sent Me This In The Mail
On the other hand, the leadership consultant argues, “if you leave a note instead, your neighbor may interpret your message more critically, and may respond more negatively as a result.”
Beth says that if you don't feel safe or comfortable speaking to the neighbor, then it's OK to write a note, “just choose your words carefully."

This Note Left On A Truck
In order not to sound passive-aggressive in a note that could potentially aggravate the situation, Beth’s advice is to “be polite, explain the situation, and look for a solution together. Your neighbor may be inconsiderate, but they may not know there is even an issue.”
Beth argues that it’s best to “write the note like an adult speaking to another adult - not like a parent speaking to a naughty child. Keep your message short and simple - but be clear about what the issue is, and what you want.”

I would appeal this, take it to the head of faculty. It's nasty power play and nothing to do with academic ability.
"If you know the neighbor and have a decent relationship with them, it can be easier (and faster) to speak to them face-to-face. When you talk to someone face-to-face, it is easier to communicate your tone and meaning than it is in writing,” Beth explained.
She also reminds readers to think about timing if you approach them (e.g. you might want to avoid meal times, or late at night/first thing in the morning). “And don't approach them when you're angry."

Found This Note Taped To Our Door After A Dog In The Complex Barked All Morning. We Don’t Own A Dog And We Were At Home All Day
A friend had a neighbor making calls about nuisance noise. Here the one that is too loud has to pay 300€. The first time she did have guests and the guard wrote her a ticket, even though they admitted that they didn't hear the guests being too loud. Then there were several calls from the same neighbor and the guards wrote no tickets since they found no disturbance. The last time they called her on the phone and found that she was not at home. From that point, the neighbor had to pay for the tickets. Sadly it turned out that he had undiagnosed schizophrenia. The sounds were real, but only to him.

some of these made me want to rip my hair out. Especially that racist one about the Indian family. smh
I cannot abide anonymous notes. Got one from a neighbour once, demanding I stop using a specific parking space (not allocated to them, they just liked using it). It wasn’t signed, so I just knocked on doors until I found out who it was and politely declined. Sad thing was, they knew it was my car and could have just asked me to my face or popped a note through my door, in which case I probably would have said yes.

I think the one about walking barefoot must have come from Germany or Austria, maybe Switzerland. We don't talk about "Ruhezeit" much in the US
