While I agree with your sentiment Leo, apparently the photo is misleading. The girl and her mother say the boys did nothing wrong. Fans were making a lot of noise. Everyone was having fun. Nothing mean-spirited was heard or reported.

Thank you!!! Why tf do people in the US (apparently?) think it is acceptable or even fun to heckle and harass people playing for another team? And what is considered going too far? Yelling racist, sexist stuff, Laser pointer, throwing things? Look up sportsmanship. Yes, we do have our fair share of really lousy fans in Europe, but at least here behavior like this is generally considered very unsportsmanlike and not 'normal'.

I love Sassers quote “To be honest, I’d like to thank them for the noise,” she says. “That really made me want to beat them and send them home with nothing.” What I see in this shot is the love of the game. Thought it's the opposing team's fans, initially you don't know if they're cheering or egging her on. As a former bball player, you block out the noise. Your head is in the game where it should be. Hopefully people understand that regardless of the genders, this shows us that a great game was going on :)

That's what she said and I respect it. But it's clear that that boys are sexist and in a very bad behavieour, sportif and in life. They're nasty. For sure nobody do this to make their team win or to a member of a family or a beloved person. This is bulling. Those boys are full cow shít. And also people that are defending them.

That's the issue, they won't be doing that if she was some six foot eight muscled guy. They are being horrible to him and if that happened to me I would be very angry

In some countries, this is not what opposing fans do, because good sportsmanship is valued and works both ways. This is being a poor sport.

Notice no girls are yelling at her though. Good for her to use it as motivation, but the picture really drives home what women put up with.

She didn’t hear anything sexual, just taunting and yelling at *gasps* a game. She then (hold onto your hats) made a decision it was just fierce rivalry nonsense and decided to tune them out and just make it sweeter when her team won. This is actually progress.

They support the heckling because that's what competitive sports teams do. I bet the other side did exactly the same, and I bet they would have done exactly the same thing to male teams.

boys, girls, men, woman, old people, kids, basically every walk of life has heckled the opposing team. have you never been to a sporting event? she's being treated just like everyone else. having to deal with the crowd of the home team has been part of the game since the begging of time. it's called the "home team advantage" for a reason.
