Everybody has their strong side and their flaws. However, some character features are a bit harder to stomach than others. For instance, over-the-top entitlement, narcissism, rabid selfishness, and a lack of empathy for others probably won’t win many allies.

Our team at Bored Panda has collected some of the most extreme and egregious examples of entitled behavior from all over the internet this February to show you just how off the rails some people have gone. Scroll down for a look at how nobody should behave, ever. But be warned—you might get incredibly frustrated.

In a nutshell, an entitled individual is someone who thinks that the rules governing society don’t apply to them. They believe they’re special and above common social requirements for polite behavior.

In other words, in their minds, they are so different from all the other folks around them that they don’t have to follow the rest of the crowd.

So, they might, for example, cut in line at cafes and shops, ask to be seated without a reservation at busy restaurants, etc. You have probably personally experienced people (mis)behaving this way countless times.

WebMD explains that the entitlement mentality, which is a narcissistic personality trait, centers around the idea of “you owe me.”

There’s a sense of deservingness there, as if the person is ‘owed’ a favor, even though they have done nothing or very little to deserve that special treatment.

There were three late teen girls doing this in a Kohl's store. They thought that taking over FOUR aisles (they they blocked off with various things) so they could "shoot" their music video. My wife and were looking for sheets and comforters and this where they were. Well, I walked around their "barrier" and one of them decided to flip out, asking Who do you think you are, disrupting our photo shoot?". I said "Well, you're not taking "photos", but video footage, so it's a video shoot and do YOU have permission to block off aisles for PAYING CUSTOMERS?" After a pause, she said" she can "film" wherever she wants because she's an "Influencer" with like a MILLION followers". Right about that time TWO employees walked over and asked what was going on (they were actually watching from a distance). The "Influencer" as she were, said we were intruding on their film "shoot". The employee then said "We've told you before, no recording in the store, leave now!!"

In the early 00's I worked at a certain, higher end grocery store, famous for its extensive, and expensive, buffett style deli foods. I can't tell you how many times I had to explain to customers that they could not sample the soups by sipping it right out of the service ladle. . . .seriously, like, mouth to ladle and slurp, then pop it back in the pot and move on to the next soup. Most of them acted like I was totally overreacting when I told them the whole pot of soup is now garbage. WTAF? People? Once I caught a woman feeding her "service dog" yogurt from the salad bar, with the service spoon, going back for multiple dips. I wish I was joking

They say one should never shop for food when hungry. Which is why when I used to shop after work, first thing I'd do is 'graze' on a prepared sandwich or little fruit pie. I'd put the wrappers in the cart and pay for them at checkout. Saved a ton of cash because I was much less likely to splurge on attractive items, instead of sticking to t he things on my shopping list.

I hate to say this but this is a typical American traveler attitude. Why do you think most countries are not very welcoming to Americans? When I was in Cuba (one of many times I have visited that wonderful country) It was very obvious that the Cubans really hated the Americans. I'm proudly Canadian and made so very many friends there. Adjust your attitudes and you'd be surprised at how welcoming other countries are to you.

Because entitled people believe they’re superior to others, it can affect the relationships they have with others, both personal and professional. Entitlement can lead to a lot of long-term damage, including more conflicts with others, unhappiness, disappointment, and even depression.

I encoubtered extreme vetsion of this at Walmart. There were at least 20 handicap spaces (yay!!), but the walk/roll area betwen the aisles was jammed with carts. I saw a person come out to collect carts, but he walked past the mess. I hobbled through, pausing & using my cane to shove carts out of the way every 3 feet.

You don't finalise your choice, the research whoever uses it and expect them to change. Even more hilarious that as well as this she expects to be given the benefit of that trader's experience and expertise.

From a professional perspective, your career can suffer if you behave in an overly entitled manner, don’t think the rules apply to you, and think that you deserve better treatment.

True, entitlement (and the resulting sense of confidence) can mean that you do well in job interviews and get leadership roles. However, a self-serving mentality can damage team spirit and make it harder to problem-solve.

According to WebMD, when someone feels entitled, they’re “always vulnerable to the threat of unmet expectations.” When those expectations aren’t met, it can lead to dissatisfaction, anger, and thoughts of how you’ve been cheated out of what you deserve. Distressed, you might then reassure yourself that you deserve everything you’ve wanted, which in turn reinforces the initial sense of entitlement.

It's not a car. It's a truck. With a truck that won't fit in a space designed for a car, you should park in a space designed for a truck or similarly large vehicle. Many car parks have them. I suspect the only thing that'd stop a truck like that parked that badly from getting keyed where I live is the near certainty that you'd be caught on CCTV - and even then, only maybe. I wouldn't, but... I see plenty of "the youth" cycling around with hoods up and ski masks on, precisely so they can't be identified on CCTV.

Pfft. I would simply have not seen the obstruction, which would have been skittled the other side of the gym by a totally accidental collision with my foot as I was innocently walking around. Absolutely totally accidental, terribly sorry, let me help you with that. 😌

Overcoming entitlement means changing your mindset by embracing more gratitude and humility. This will eventually help you become a more considerate and responsible human being who understands that everyone’s a human being who deserves respect.

It can also help if you recognize that life can be unfair at times and if you see failure as an opportunity for growth. Volunteering your time, effort, and money can also help you connect with others.

You were stupid, inconsiderate and entitled to think you can show up for anything an hour late and think you will get in especially without calling. Try that with a medical appt and you WILL NOT be seen and have to schedule another appt. Medical appts you get 10 or 15 mins to be late and that's it.

Some people are just idiots. When I was working as a waitress at a small Mexican restaurant, there was one time a group of people who didn’t turn up on time. 60-90 minutes later, they were still not there so the boss closed up- it was past usual closing time anyway. The lights were clearly off, the door was clearly locked yet they still tried to get in when they decided to turn up…🤦‍♀️

This is normal. The idea that, legally, those are the parking spaces that should be cleared first and repeatedly. Yes, you can report this to your police none emergency so they get a tucket.

Verywell Mind explains that a sense of entitlement can sometimes be a symptom of a personality disorder, such as narcissistic personality disorder, antisocial personality disorder, and borderline personality disorder.

How a person was raised, whether they were given special treatment as a kid, and whether their caregivers shielded them from the consequences of their actions can contribute to a sense of entitlement.

Other important factors to consider include whether they were spoiled as a child or quite the opposite, if they were denied things and therefore now believe the world ‘owes’ them something in return.

I've seen two British squaddies (with a little help from me) shift a much larger car out of the way. Out of the way and into a drainage ditch, as it happens - the ditch as the destination was their idea (it was blocking a track by the side of a field). It turns out you can just "bounce' cars around if you know what you're doing. Yes, one of the soldiers did make an effort to find the owner and get them to move the car first - admittedly, all done at a run, without stopping... Do not obstruct the British Army. Mid 1980s, SE England, and I'm saying nothing more. 😉

As per Verywell Mind, overcoming entitlement begins by recognizing that it impacts your life. You should understand that nobody (including you) is entitled to anything in life.

Meanwhile, you should work to distinguish between what you truly need in life and what you merely want. The former is something to work toward, while the latter is expendable. “This makes it very difficult to make healthy, sound decisions since you constantly want more than you need.”

Which of these examples of entitlement shocked you the most, dear Pandas? Who is the most entitled person you’ve recently come across, and what did they do? Have you ever struggled to get over your own sense of entitlement? If so, how did you manage to do this? If you’d like to share your thoughts and experiences, you can do so in the comments below!

I did this once, by accident. Forgot to engage handbrake, and returned to see car had rolled into trolley shelter. Unfortunately, the shelter’s wall was glass. Fortunately, the shop’s staff saw the funny side when I reported myself to them. Didn’t even charge me for repair or cleaning.

My dad once parked his vehicle INSIDE the cart corral. To be fair, it was after store hours and the parking lot was full due to fireworks about to be set off at the park across the street. I suspect others may have been slightly envious that their vehicles wouldn't fit.

I don't understand why people will comment on a successful restaurant and critique the flavor or type of food it serves. If someone doesn't like Indian food, don't go to an Indian restaurant, if someone doesn't like barbecue, don't go to a barbecue place. This isn't difficult, if you have a complaint about a restaurant it should be about service, health concerns, or even pricing.

These customers are total jerks, but maybe the place should only sell take-aways that close to closing time. Although it might be what happened and customers just decided to get cozy inside anyway.

9 months ago Created by potrace 1.15, written by Peter Selinger 2001-2017

Yes, that's how I read it. Places like Subway always wrap up your sandwiches anyway so there's no separate 'eat-in' service and they just provide tables and chairs for customers' convenience if they choose to remain inside to eat. Closing time is closing time, they were warned before they sat down to eat but decided to ignore it and try to force the employee to work past their closing time.

Once again, what is wrong with management of these businesses. Close the kitchen half an hour before you close the restaurant if you don't want people sitting there, eating, after closing time. If someone is prepared to serve me food I would take that as an okay to stay and eat it.

    Wang Zhuang

If this story is real, the staff should have made it clear when they walked in that they would be kicked out in 15 minutes. It's foolish to walk into a restaurant that close to closing time, but some restaurants will still let you order and eat once they hit closing time; they just won't let anyone else in after. If the restaurant had told me I would have to leave at 7 on the dot, I would have just walked out.

At Six Flags, that is hilarious. For people outside the US, Six Flags is an amusement park who's very logo is six different color flags. They fly them at the main gates.

OP really said "I dislike this place's political opinion, so I will denounce them. Also, don't take my post down, it's just my political opinion!" Also, Six Flags wouldn't openly fly any political flag, as they have parks in both red and blue states, so the "pride flag" that they are most likely referring to is simply the Six Flags logo, which sports six flags of different colors. download-5...7052b.jpeg download-5-67c8cc747052b.jpeg

Grab the bag and place it on the floor. I've literally done this in a parents change room that only had two change tables, one was being used by another parent. The other had a bag of groceries on it. I asked the parent changing their child if it was theirs, they shook their head no and stated it belonged to some lady who had come in to use the toilet. I can tell you this Karen (who did not have a child with her btw) was not pleased I had touched her belongings, to which I said why not have your child hold the bag? "I don't have children" was the response.. Then exactly why are you in the parents room then?

Wait, is this normal? a changing table just in the middle of the toilets? Where I live, the changing table is in the disabled toilet. So, it's in a private room that either parent, or both parents, can use.

I'm going the other way with this one... So, what's the big deal? I don't see a bag hook, where there usually is one, on that open door. This person didn't have a place for their bag to stay clean, they'll be out in a moment. So what? Your dirty diaper can't wait for 30 seconds? There is some entitlement happening, but I can't say that it's not equally distributed.
