Convincing your parents to get a cat can be hard. You tell them you did all the research on pet care, they say "no". You tell them you will pitch in to help cover the expenses, they say "no". Eventually, they start repeating that word so often and with such confidence, you start suspecting if they are humanoids, not yet programmed to understand the concept of "yes".
But there's one argument that might override their system and install the required update—the Twitter account 'Why you should have a cat.' It describes itself as "the perfect account to show to your parents when you want a cat," and it's sharing funny and adorable cat photos to achieve this goal. In fact, the pics are so cute, I'm certain you will enjoy them even if you are no longer a child and already own a feline. No wonder the account already has 830,000 followers.

When you do get a cat, ASPCA recommends purchasing high-quality, brand-name kitten or cat food. Your veterinarian will be able to assess your new pet and determine the best diet. Factors such as age, activity level, and health make a difference in what and how much a cat should eat.
The good news is, most cats stay relatively clean and rarely need a bath. That being said, you should still brush or comb your cat. Regular brushing helps keep your cat's coat clean, reduces the amount of shedding, and cuts down on the incidence of hairballs.
You should get your cat its own clean, dry place to sleep and rest. Line your cat's bed with a soft, warm blanket or towel for comfort. Don't forget to wash the bedding often, too. It's also best if you keep your cat indoors. Of course, every situation is different, but outdoor cats do not live as long as indoor cats. Outdoor cats are at risk of trauma from cars, or from fights with other animals. They are more likely to become infested with fleas or ticks, as well as contract infectious diseases.
All indoor cats need a litter box. You should place it in a quiet, accessible location. In a multi-level home, experts recommend one box per floor. Avoid moving the box unless absolutely necessary, but if you must do so, move the box just a few inches per day. Remember, cats won't use a messy, smelly litter box, so scoop solid wastes out of the box at least once every day. Wash the box with a mild detergent and refill at least once a week; you can do this less frequently if using clumping litter. Do not use ammonia, deodorants, or scents, especially lemon, when cleaning the litter box. If your cat refuses to use a litterbox, please consult with your veterinarian. I had a cat for 15 years and by the end of his life he became very ill. I have, on more than one occasion, looked at him like that when I had found a food that he wanted to eat (he was a die-hard Whiskas eater for 14 years, no matter what superior food I bought, but by the end of his life he could stomach hardly any food except almost pure meat).
I know that look too. When my girl Cole was 20, she lost a lot of weight and stopped eating. I tried many things to get her to eat, and finally managed to bring her appetite back with clam chowder. She stuck around for a few more months after that.
Load More Replies...I put my beloved cat down at the vet yesterday. I was handfeeding her anything and everything I could tempt her with at the end. I am very jealous of this picture and I hope they have a long happy live together. Also, if you see me posting way too much on BP, I am trying desperately to distract myself... Personally 2021 isn't starting out so well.
My deepest sympathy for the loss of your furry friend. At different times over the years, I too, have had to have two of my furry babies given help to cross The Rainbow Bridge. It's never easy, but I know that it was the right time for them, as they no longer had a good quality of life. It is never an easy thing to do. Take comfort in knowing that, as you loved your kitty, she loved you and trusted you to do right by her. When the time is right, I hope that you find the right kitty or kitties to enrich your life once again. Post all you want. Communication helps lead to healing.

When my cat rosie had kittens and they had to start eating wet food I had to sit with a little one and feed food off my finger then immediately show her the bowl or she wouldn't eat some days it work others it did not. The kitten is super healthy playful and loves to shred toilet paper.. .
I remember this picture, the guy really didn’t want a cat, but his girl did. He caved, then fell in love!

The first attempt to at least get him into the kitchen area, step two, food prepration.
Cute, fuzzy elephant feet. Can you imagine the kneading from this kit?
Hooman where are my candles and glass of Pinot Noire at precisely 4 degrees ? ;o)
“Hooman, I appreciate the cake u made, but it doesn’t fit my taste.”

For a sec I thought the trees in the back were fire and I was like: ‘Danger kitty’
That cat is so small I need to put it in my pocket. Also, that Snorlax beanbag thing is amazing!

I want a black cat, because black lives matter. (just kidding) because they have last chance to be adopted, I love black clothes and I'm a black woman.
Agree with the black kitties being the last to be adopted... Strangely most of my friends and acquaintances who have cats have at least one black one :D [I share my home with two rescues: an all-black shadow kitty and a tuxedo kitty].
