Theresa Kachindamoto comes from a long lineage of Ngoni chiefs (traditional authority figures) in Malawi, Africa.
As the lastborn of 12 children, she never thought that she would become a senior chief. She was the only child in the family who received an education and moved to live and work in another city.
But one day, her community came calling. The Ngoni tribe had selected her as the Chief because she was “good with people”.
In some places in Africa, 10-year-old girls join “marriage initiation camps” where they lose their virginity and learn how to “please a man”. When she became a Chief, Theresa decided to change that.
With the support of the President and First Lady of Malawi, Theresa abolished child marriages and moved her mission onto a national and international level. Her brave efforts paid off. In 2017, Malawi made historic, landmark changes in its constitution and enforced a law that bans marriages under the age of 18.
"Several girls I helped rescue returned as adults to give thanks. Each visit reminds me how important this work is. We get to shape a generation by narrowing the gender equality gap," Theresa commented.
Yes and obviously a woman ! Women should rule more !
Load More Replies...Where they “lose their virginity” aka are raped. Horrifying
Children cannot give consent. This "lose their virginity" euphemism is disgusting...just call it what it is, child rape.
Load More Replies...I try not be judgmental of other cultures and traditions, but a "marriage initiation camp" for 10 year old girls to be raped and groomed how to "please a man" is absolutely horrible and vile.

When Malone arrived at school he noticed that students were only taught disease symptoms on fair skin subjects. This is what inspired him to partner with two other university staff to create the “Mind the Gap” handbook.
The goal is to help healthcare professionals recognize certain symptoms on Black and Brown skin tones. “Mind the Gap” includes side-by-side pictures of illness and how they appear on white and dark skin.
One example from the book refers to Kawasaki disease - a disease commonly characterized by a rash. The condition appears differently on darker skin, often making it more difficult to notice and diagnose.
“So if we are empowered by this, we'll be well-equipped and be able to better serve the diverse population of people that are in the world,” Malone said in an interview.
I hate to be a ray of sleet, but check out Dr Lynn McKinley-Grant, current president of the Skin of Color Society, whose book VisualDx: Essential Dermatology in Pigmented Skin came out in 2011. (I worked with her when she was working on the book.) I am by no means diminishing the work of Malone, who filled a great need, but I do wonder why his medical school didn't know about Dr McKinley-Grant's book or similar ones.
Load More Replies...I read about this a while ago. Why did it take so long? For the same reason that illnesses that present differently in women get misdiagnosed or treated in the same manner as they would for male patients. Basically, lazy science.
I don't think it's "lazy science", I'd say it was due to the fact that science and medicine have been predominantly male professions (women were either not accepted into the field or even if they were, their work was – in some cases – blatantly disregarded. It just never occurred to male researchers to include women in medical trials. It's not so much lazy science as it is prejudice, patriarchy and indifference. Even today, when we know heart attacks often present differently in women, women still get sent home from the doctor's office and told "it is just menopause" or "back pain" or "nerves". Not much different from being diagnosed with "hysteria" in the past.
Load More Replies...Women and people of color are forced to be their own advocates because the medical industry has been entrenched with white male narratives. It's good to see this changing, but I wish it were a bit faster.
Wow! This is something we need more of! I‘ve read previously that darker skinned people are often misdiagnosed. We NEED more information about different kind of bodys. I know in todays culture we like to say that all humans are the same, but at least medically speaking, we are not. Women are different from men, children from adults and different ethnic groups have different features too. For example: Asians are more often lactose intolerant, arn‘t they? I think we need to know more about these kinds of differences. Especially in countries where lots of different kinds of people are living together.
Actually, so are African-Americans. Approximately 90% of the South African population is lactose intolerant (according to a gastroenterologist). Approximately 60-80% of the African-American population is lactose intolerant.

I took a first aid course 20 years ago and we were told how to tell different signs on darker skin
Load More Replies...First year of med school during the pediatric unit, instructors kept talking about visual signs and symptoms of congenital disorders at birth and so many included cyanosis or blue tinged skin from lack of oxygen. I asked what about babies with darker complexions. They didn’t have an answer and said to just use a pulse ox.
As a fair skinned Scandinavian, I never considered this as a potential issue for others. Well done, Malone!
That is awesome! I wish he would do one about the difference between Oedema and Scabies for my doctor's surgery, so he can teach them the bl**dy difference
I feel there is no cure for vitiligo still because it isn't too visible on fair skin.
This kid’s a genius! When they “black don’t crack”, it’s not just about lines and wrinkles. The only marks that tend to be prominent on dark skin are keloid scars. This was an extremely important discovery.
If someone laughs at you for what your parents do for legal blue collar work, give them a closed fist wake up call.
It's not what you do, it's why you do it. This man shows that some people will do any job, suffer any indignity including the derision of people who don't deserve the hard work they do, if it means that they can support the ones they love... they deserve our respect in ways so many who look down on them do not

Load More Replies...I was fortunate to grow up in an amazing CT suburb where we had a janitorial staff that was amazing, we affectionately referred to the head janitor as "uncle eric". I'll always remember going into k-6 feeling safe bc he was there. My mom would periodically ask about him and I realized they grew up together - her a waitress and him a janitor and the mutual respect was beautiful.
What your parents do for work is not what is important. It's what your parents do for you that counts
Can you imagine a world without janitors? We need janitors. The world needs janitors.
I actually had a well educated physics teacher who DID take a janitorial role because of the pay - at the same school none-the-less!

It’s all about spreading sunshine and good vibes, and it’s clearly doing a great job, as the account has amassed an impressive 943k followers since its creation in 2015. The page describes itself as the “most heartwarming page on Instagram,” and we have to agree that many of the posts make us feel warm and fuzzy inside.
Especially when most news outlets seem to share heartbreaking and upsetting stories at all hours of the day, it’s nice to have a place to go where you know you’ll hear something nice. In fact, it might even be important for us to take in positive stories. According to Good News Utah, consuming good news can reduce the stress and anxiety that reading bad news causes.
Collette Divitto, 30, who was born with Down syndrome, studied hard and completed the Clemson University’s LIFE program a year early. Soon after, she decided to leave her family home in Ridgefield, CT, and move to Boston to live on her own.
That’s when her dreams were met with disappointment - Collette was rejected at all job interviews she attended. But that minor setback couldn't stop her. She became even more resolved to pursue her dreams.
After no one would hire her, Collette turned her baking hobby into a booming business named Collettey’s. Now her customers can purchase Collettey’s cookies at locations in Massachusetts, California, and Connecticut, and also online.
“My favorite part of my company is creating more jobs for people with all types of disabilities,” Collette said. “…Do not let people bring you down and do not give up on your careers and dreams because when one door closes, another door opens.”
I guess I'll need a really big cup of coffee for all those cookies.

Load More Replies...Near where I work, the local council opened a social enterprise coffee shop-it was designed to help young adults with special needs transition into employment, so they teach them cooking and baking skills, and customer service roles. 3 years later, it became fully self funding, because the food was just so good. They started running educational classes, taught by the cooks and bakers themselves-the people with "special needs" teaching others. I went to a couple-you pay £5, they provide all the ingredients, and you get to take your sausage rolls, pies, scones and buns home. It's a fun evening, practical and useful. It's absolutely not a pity project, it's employing young people and equipping them with skills, and they do as well as any other person would. Everyone has potential, they just need a chance to develop it.
I know this sounds weird, but this is the jind of thing i would like to do as a tourist. Museums are fun, but so would this be. Learn how to make proper sausage rolls and help a business? Count mr in.

She was born in the 1950's and all the doctors recommended she be institutionalized. According to my gramps my sweet, quiet grandmother fought tooth and nail with these doctors and yelled loud enough to scare him. I believe my aunt was the balance in our family that kept everybody in check.
This is one of the best! I hope she sends all those companies that wouldn't hire her a box of cookies and her thanks to them for refusing to see beyond her disability to her intelligence!
I don't think she ships to the UK. That's a shame. I like a good cookie and I love them more if they aren't made with a machine and a conveyor belt and hers look hand made in that picture

13-year-old Jaequan Faulkner sold $2 hot dogs with $1 soda and chips outside his home in Minneapolis, MN. His goal was to earn money for school clothes.
Unexpectedly, someone sent an email complaint with the Minneapolis Health Department about his business. But even though he was in violation, authorities didn't close down his stand.
Instead, they equipped him with thermometers, food containers, hand sanitizer, and utensil-cleaning stations. They also offered guidance on proper food handling and even covered the $87 cost for his "short-term food permit."
All of this support caused his business to flourish. He began selling "between 100 to 150 hot dogs a day."
“My auntie always told me, ‘Can’t nobody stop you but you.’ If you say ‘I can’t do that,’ well, then you just set yourself up for failure.”
But seriously, who goes out of their way to report a kids hotdog stand? Are you that bored and lonely?
I remember this one. It was his white Karen neighbor, because people were coming to his stand to buy his hot dogs, and she didn’t like the crowd. Once she reported it, however, every single cop in the city drove to his stand on their lunch breaks and lined up to buy his hot dogs. Karen next door would’ve been laughed out of town if she’d complained about THAT.
Load More Replies...I'm surprised and impressed that the city stood up for the boy.
Hmmm…maybe the better thing is to make sure kids don’t have to work in order to buy school clothes??
1. maybe that's not something they can do 2. maybe he wanted to earn money for clothes his parents wouldn't pay? I walked dogs, baby sat and worked in restaurants for additional money and clothes my mom would not pay

From that point on, no one would buy any more sausages from the man. All he got were dirty looks from the passers-by.
Saw this one before and like I said last time: I hope the complainer was a neighbour and that all this was done by the health department not only out of kindness but out of spite for the miserable git who complained
Reading good news might also encourage you to stay informed. One study found that reading journalism that provided solutions found readers to be more engaged and more interested in taking action to make a difference themselves. If it’s all gloom and doom, we can feel hopeless. But when the news gives us something to be positive about, we can run with that positivity.
Apparently, those of us who read many positive news articles are more likely to be happier overall. A 2012 study from Brigham Young University found that good news can boost our moods, and sharing our positive findings with our partners can even strengthen our relationships.

Those dolls are used in residential care facilities for people with dementia too. Often, they retain memories from their early life but not later, so the dolls help to calm them down by giving them a focus. Some homes also have realistic animatronic type pets, like fake cats that purr when stroked.

Am so very grateful as I believe that hearing is our last sense to go before we pass away.
I did the same thing when my dad was dying, talked to him while he was in a coma. I hope he heard me.
This one gets me every time it's posted. That last line. Wish I could explain to him how he was the best thing to ever happen to her.
Also went through similar with my dad in a coma. He woke up from it after a month. I'm so happy to read the recent research that many people in comas do definitively hear what we say and simply can't respond. Sending loving words out is always right ❤
I think that maybe the universe put him in a coma for a bit so he could know that his mom heard him while she was in the coma 🥲

Adhara, now 9, shared that the children at school often bullied her and called her a “weirdo” and an “oddball”. On seeing how unusually smart her daughter was, Adhara’s mom, Nallely Sanchez, decided to take her to therapy.
That is where her IQ was tested and estimated at 162 - slightly higher than that of Einstein and Stephen Hawking (both estimated at about 160).
Following a special studying plan, Adhara finished middle school by the age of 6, and high school by the age of 8. At present, she is earning 2 degrees online - one in industrial engineering in mathematics and one in systems engineering.
I go to an art school and want to study in the field of psychology, and I find it so fascinating to see other people's art and creations, especially the ones created by my 7 or 8 autistic friends and cousin. Everybody is amazing in their own way and this just proves it!
Omg same! I want to become an art therapist (a therapist that uses art to help people express themselves and work through emotions) and I have a firm belief that nobody is bad at art because everyone does it in a different way. It’s so interesting how everyone has a different style and you can really get to know someone and how their mind works by looking at the art that they create :D

Load More Replies...Neither Einstein nor Hawking are known to have ever taken an IQ test, and Hawking once said "People who boast about their IQs are losers". So probably not a great example. But good for her anyway.
I cringed hard on that section as well. Even if they had done the test a 2 point difference is absolutely insignificant in the light of the precision of those tests. Furthermore the scale constantly changes as IQ100 is supposed to represent the average human at the time
Load More Replies...You don't have to be autistic to be the recipient of bullying. And you don't have to be autistic to be a savant.
I remember reading a news article where a teenage boy that’s autistic got beat up by his classmates, then instead of having his bullies go to jail, he made his bullies write an essay on autism after the watched a 20 minute video that the bullied boy made
That's so amazing and she is so smart! But now that I read this I feel worthless that I completed 3rd grade at the age of eight and not high school.
Reading positive news stories also promotes optimism and can even increase our heart health, one 2018 Harvard study found. Because good news can reduce our stress, it can also lower our blood pressure and lower our risk of heart failure. Plus, people with a positive outlook on life are more likely to partake in healthy habits, so there are plenty of reasons to look on the bright side of life. And if you have trouble sleeping at night, try focusing on some uplifting news stories during the day and working on reducing your stress. You might find your insomnia loosening its grip on you in no time.
Every weekend, Kayzen Hunter, 8, goes for breakfast with his grandfather or his family at the Waffle House in Little Rock, AR.
His favorite waiter there is Devonte Gardner, a father of two daughters. As the family really like Devonte and his positive outlook on life, they always sit in his section at the restaurant.
When Kayzen found out that Devonte was having difficulties and he was walking to work, the young boy decided to start a GoFundMe page with his mother’s help.
Kayzen hoped to raise about $5,000 for Devonte to buy a car. The page quickly collected more than $115,000.
That was enough for Devonte and his family to move from the motel they were living into a better apartment.
“I’m gonna save the rest because I want to put my daughters in a good school, I want them to be in a good environment,” Devonte commented.
This makes me feel both happy and sad at the same time. Happy due to the friendship between the two and for the liitle guy genuinely wanting to help his friend. Sad because, with better wages and conditions and affordable housing this wonderful man may not have been in such a precarious situation.
That boy is a genuine saint - and everybody who donated to his GoFundMe deserves a halo. OTOH - sad that the man's wages weren't enough for him to afford a decent apartment and at least a used car.
Load More Replies...This is NOT a feel good story. An American man, working a full time job could not afford a cheap car on the wages he was paid. It’s like the stories of working giving up their PTO so a coworker undergoing chemo doesn’t get fired for taking too much time off. Home Depot workers rebuilding a wheelchair, because the family can not afford a working mobility aid. This is not good news. This is not what is supposed to happen in a “civilized” Country.

Jennifer took her graduation photos in the fields where her parents spend their days working, hoping that her story will serve as an inspiration for other immigrant families.
“I wanted to take those pictures out there, specifically in the field, because that’s what made me go to college,” Jennifer commented.
“My parents being migrant workers were able to have three girls get their college education, and you can do it too, and your kids can.”
And this is why migration is a positive thing. Migrants tend to be hard working family people striving to give their children better opportunities. They encourage their children to study and their children tend to take on careers that serve like; teachers, doctors, nurses, civil servants, etc.
Just like every single immigrant and migrant has ALWAYS done. People who have prejudices against migrants and immigrants should first think about their OWN family history, and second if they’re so damned worried about the jobs that are being “stolen” from them by migrants and immigrants, then they should get their fat white asses up and go reclaim that precious “lost” job picking lettuce.

Liz Smith, a 40-year-old nurse at Franciscan Children’s Hospital in Brighton, MA, had always wanted to be a mother. She had tried several different methods of getting pregnant, including sperm donation and IVF (in vitro fertilization) procedure. But nothing worked.
In 2016 she met little Gisele, who was a baby at the time. She was born prematurely at 29 weeks and had neonatal abstinence syndrome (NAS) due to narcotics exposure during the pregnancy. Gisele weighed only 1 pound and 14 ounces (850g). Liz visited the baby every day, but no one else came to see her for five months.
The state took away custody of Gisele from her birth parents, so Liz decided to start fostering her. Her love for the little girl grew even more. On October 18, 2018, she legally adopted Gisele, giving her the surname Smith.
I wish them both a happy life together. What miracles can be worked, and what wrongs can be reversed, when we open our hearts.
With the removal of legal abortions and the upcoming bans on birth control in the US expect to see many more children being born to parents that aren't fit.
Kim, I think I speak for the majority of us when I say you need to shut the hell up because you have no idea what you are talking about. Prime example, my cousin, through no choice of his own, ended up in hospital, where he was placed on strong painkillers. Guess what? because he was on these painkillers in hospital so long, he became co-dependent on them, an addiction, he'd take painkillers all the time because he genuinely believed he needed them, even months after being sent home from the hospital. It was terrifying to see, because during that time he became sometimes even violent if he hadn't had these "drugs" - does this sound like it was his choice though, because it never would have happened if he hadn't been admitted into hospital beforehand for a reason that was not his fault in the first place. So, with all due respect, f**k off.
Your cousin doesn’t read? It’s well known pain pills are addictive.

Valenti offered to pay $150 of his own money for a gym membership, instead of arresting the kid. He said he’d rather have the boy shooting hoops instead of “being on the street and possibly getting into trouble”.
"It seems like all that's represented (in the news) with police is the bad stuff, and it's a shame, because when I took this job 23 years ago, I didn't think everyone was going to hate you, which is sometimes the feeling you get as a police officer," Valenti told the Chicago Tribune.
There are good cops out there. Unfortunately, they don't get much media attention.

Giving them a place to go and do something, learn a skill and a sport, keep fit, be off the streets and not bored etc. I bet the money it would cost to fund this would soon be less than it costs to deal with antisocial behaviour and obesity/ being unfit etc. plus likely install a love of being active as an adult too which is only going to continue the positive health stuff
A long while ago I got downvoted a ridiculous amount on bp for saying something like 'not all cops are bad' cause yk some people go into the job to help people not for power...
As the Germans say, if nine people sit at the table to have dinner with a Nazi, there are ten Nazis around the table. If there are some rotten apples in the police force, but the "good" ones don't say anything, and even cover their bad deeds, they can't complain people don't trust them, because there's no way of knowing who's the good one who became a cop to help people, and who's the trigger happy bastard who will shoot you because he feels like it, or because he doesn't like the colour of your skin. If the majority of them are good, as you claim, they should do something to get rid of the bad ones. If they don't, perhaps they are not the majority...

Don't be obtuse. Just because there are good cops doesn't mean we should turn a blind eye to police who abuse power and who end innocent lives because of their incapability to stand to the occasion for their position.

53-year-old Joseph Sonnier always planned to go to college after high school. However, due to family circumstances he couldn’t continue his education. After taking various jobs, he started work as a janitor at Port Barre Elementary School in Port Barre, LA.
One day, the school principal, Wesley Jones, had a chat with Sonnier. “I think you’d benefit the students better as an educator,” the principal told him.
Sonnier took his advice and went back to school while working full-time.
His strenuous efforts paid off. He graduated with an associate’s degree in 2006 from Louisiana State University Eunice, and in 2008, he received his bachelor’s degree at the University of Louisiana. Then he went for a master’s degree at the same university.
Years later, Sonnier is now principal at the same school he had worked as a janitor for 27 years.
The former principal was awesome too for his encouragement.

Massive credit and thanks to the the principal, Wesley Jones. Major credits to Joseph for doing the hard yards and making it.
Singer Billy Joel was disappointed that the best seats at his concerts were always full of unimpressed rich people.
"The guy's there with the girlfriend...'Okay, Piano Man, entertain me,' and they don't do anything. It was a drag and you'd hear all the kids yelling in the back and you know they didn't get a shot at those tickets," Joel explains.
That is why he decided to create a new policy for those front seats. He now holds the tickets and sends his road crew to the back of the room to bring people from the worst seats to the front rows.
"This way you've got people in the front row that are really happy to be there, real fans," he added.
I heard that Willie Nelson did something similar to that. He was supposed to perform at the Solano County Fair in Vallejo, CA. But when he found out that all of the bigwigs bought up the best seats, he canceled his performances.
"The Bigwigs" have ruined every concert, including Burning Man and Coachella. Rich people helicoptering in to luxury desert accommodations. So pissed at this! GRRRR

I'd love to be able to get up close to the stage and see the band clearly, as opposed to always being stuck at the back or side up high. One show at an arena, I knew the guys performing and get free tickets and had mentioned how I hated being so far away, so they made a special area for me and my friends like 15-20m from the stage at the side and it was amazing. I saw other wheelchair users at the show after commenting on how I managed it and how they also hate being so far away. I wish venues would listen and a- add much more accessible seating as it sells sooo fast and b- offer closer seating at a higher price like normal closer seating is and give us options.
I totally agree! You get an arena with 20,000+ capacity, and yet you only have room for about 20 wheelchairs and a carer and even then you're shoved at the side of really far back up high. I'm pretty sure the o2 has more dis-bays than disabled seating! You also have to call to book tickets as opposed to bring able to do it online like everyone else! It's not like they take proof of the disability over the phone, so why can't we do it online exactly?! I went to my local theatre there are just shy of 1000 seats. They provide 4 wheelchair spaces (plus 4 carers). They are awful as they're literally 90° to the stage and they tell you off of you turn your chair too far (not even allowed to face your chair 45°) and as someone with a cervical spinal cord defect, having my neck twisted for that long is agonising. You barely get to see half the stage even if you were to turn your chair the full 90°. One show I went to there the main set (house) was on the right side of the stage (left side was for the "outdoor" scenes but there weren't many) so we could barely see 75-80% of the play. Then, to top it off, we were at a subtitled show (which is brilliant they offer that and I personally find it helps me a lot) but the massive monitors they had placed with the subs on were at the end of the wheelchair and carer area so that obstructed our views even further. I complained but didn't get any compensation or even an apology. Haven't been back since. A time before that, and before I needed to stay in my chair we sat on the front walkway/aisle row as no steps and ample foot/leg room, however I started to develop a lot of pain. As the seats were the front row of that section they weren't as reinforced as the other rows so ask tilted forward slightly (hard to explain), but I was getting pressure pain due to this awkward position. The staff refused to let me sit in my wheelchair where it was parked at the side of the theatre (the chair wouldn't have been moved, I'd still have been able to see and would've been a great solution. I can't see the difference between my sitting in my wheelchair or it being empty if it's still in the same place!), so instead I put my wheelchair cushion on the theatre row chair which helped immensely. It made me 1-1.5" taller, but as a 5'3" gal this wasn't excessive, and there was no-one directly behind me to impact their viewing. The staff came over to me and told me that this wasn't allowed and refused to let me use it even after I explained it was an nhs high risk pressure relieving cushion as I was in agony. 10 minutes into the second half of the panto I left my family as I was in tears from the pain. I just remember sitting in the car crying waiting for the show to finish as I wanted everyone else to enjoy themselves. I ended up with an open pressure sore and next time booked the wheelchair seating which as I explained previously, ended up being an awful experience too. It's truly not hard to make places inclusive and accessible. If you're not disabled yourself, how about you consult some disabled people and try to figure out a solution that works that way! It's so easy! It's sad that in this day and age we still get shoved to the side of made to conform to standards and rules that cause its physical pain and injury. But as long as the company is making their money from the majority, who cares right?! Anyway, apologies for my rant! I've not had the best of experiences with theatres, arenas, and venues etc and have so many more stories, so sometimes I get a touch riled up about it all!!!

I'm sad that Billy Joel is fading from America's conscience, more so than most classic rock. Even though his songs are closer to "blue-eyed soul," it seems he always used to get play on classic rock stations... in addition to pop and AOR. When I play Joel, I just DO things far beyond my skills, just because his compositions are so natural.
In my parents' cars, he has his own radio station that comes on every few months

Sabrina Plannerer, from Mogi das Cruzes, Brazil, and her partner purchased a Shell gas station. Soon, they noticed a wandering dog around it, abandoned by his previous owners. “Negão waits for people to arrive, and then goes up to say hello, winning them over with his charms. Customers love him,” Sabrina commented.

But instead of the tropical paradise he remembered as a child, the trees were cut down and there were no wild animals left. This combined with his last assignment - reporting on the genocide in Rwanda - left him devastated.
His wife came up with an idea - why not recruit partners, raise funds and restore the forest? And so they did.
Now, about two decades later, the results of their long and hard work are evident. Almost 3 million trees have completely transformed the environment.
Many species found a home in the new Salgado forest. Of the 127 bird species identified, six are endangered. There are also 33 species of mammals, two of which are endangered worldwide, 15 species of amphibians, 15 species of reptiles and 293 species of plants.
Even after their success, the Salgado’s aren’t planning to stop any time soon. Their next goal is to increase the number of plant and animal species beyond their land and increase biodiversity in the region around it.

When Nicole Renae turned 10, her grandma surprised her with a sweet gray dog which she named Chloe. “I just loved her to death,” Nicole told The Dodo. “She was my best friend.”
Some time passed and sadly, due to unfortunate circumstances Chloe had to be sent to a local shelter. Years went by. Nicole grew up, got married and had a daughter of her own.
One day, she ran across a Facebook post about a senior dog in need of a home. The dog looked a lot like Chloe and had the same name. Nicole decided to adopt the senior dog and brought her home.
“She just ran to me and started licking my face,” Nicole said. The appearance, the mannerisms, the name - all of it made her convinced that was actually her Chloe, the dog from her childhood. “Everybody thought I was crazy,” she recalls
She visited the veterinarian’s office where Chloe was microchipped all those years ago to check her ID. “The numbers were an exact match. It was her,” Nicole said excitedly. “I’m so happy to have her back.”
I know. Everything is heartwarming, but it's making me upset and happy at the same time.

As a child, Carl Allamby had one dream - to become a doctor. At that time, that seemed impossible.
His childhood was tough. For days and even weeks, his family of eight went without lights, gas or water at their home in East Cleveland, OH.
After finishing high school, he opened his own small business - Allamby’s Auto Service. Carl worked in that business for 25 years but he never forgot his childhood dream. In 2010, he began pre-med classes and in 2015, he enrolled into Medical School at Northeast Ohio Medical University.
At the age of 47, he graduated from the university. And earlier this year, already 51-years old, he started his first job as an attending physician at Cleveland Clinic’s Hillcrest Hospital in Mayfield Heights, OH.
"I feel we all have the opportunity to make our lives better. If you want it, go after it. Don’t give up," Carl advises.

I'm lucky my wheelchair is covered fully by the NHS wheelchair services, I have a very lightweight, active chair that is exactly what I need. When I damaged my shoulder, I was given the power chair I needed for those 2 years too (and medical care I needed to heal my shoulder!). I'm not restricted by my need to use a wheelchair, I am restricted by a lack of accessible infrastructure, which thankfully improves all the time. This kid (and sadly likely many other people in the USA) aren't just stricter by inaccessible infrastructure but by a lack of accessible wheelchair! It's great the kid got these students to build him the chair he needs, but it shouldn't have to come to that. Wonder how many more are out there in chairs that aren't suitable? Bet the rules would change if those in charge suddenly found themselves disabled and without the right chair!

Yes! If it isn’t drugs or mental issues, it’s just plain money that forces people on into homelessness. In expensive cities, there are homeless people who actually have full time jobs, but just can’t afford the rent—-since being forced out of their formerly moderately priced apartments by greedy landlords wanting to raise the rent sky high. THAT is f*****g SCANDALOUS in my book. Hardworking people unable to live decently because their jobs just don’t pay enough coupled with greedy landlords trying to turn their moderate priced buildings into luxury apartments and condos. The worst part is that it’s all perfectly legal to put working people out of their homes like that. F*****g scandalous and really perverted.

While shopping at Walmart, Rory McCarty, saw an elderly gentleman working there as a cashier. The man reminded Rory of a viral story of an 82-year-old woman, also a Walmart employee, who retired after a stranger set up an online fundraiser to help her. So, Rory did the same.
Rory felt inspired to set up a GoFundMe as the elderly man, Navy veteran Warren Marion, was a widower and had to keep on working to pay off his house.
More than 6,500 people donated to Warren, quickly raising about $167,000.
"I wanted to help this Navy Veteran to live the remainder of his years traveling to see his kids in Florida," Rory wrote on the GoFundMe page. "Get him off his feet for 8 hrs at a time. And do the things he would love to do that he may not be able to for financial reasons."
