Artist Creates Wholesome And Relatable Comics About Her Everyday Life (30 New Pics)
Interview With ArtistValérie Minelli is a comic artist based in Luxembourg. She creates wholesome and relatable doodles inspired by her relationship with her boyfriend and daily personal struggles.
"I try to make people happy as I'm a pessimistic person myself. So the comics are therapy for me and hopefully for those who read them. If I can make one person cheer up reading them, it's a success," the artist has previously shared on Bored Panda.

Whenever I'm at the store and see a cool hot wheel I buy it because it makes me happy. One day the checker asks me if it was for my son and I said no it's for me. She then proceeds to give me a weird look. I don't understand the need for other people, especially random people to put others down.
I just noticed her hair and all the beautiful line work within each hair piece. They all look like pretty leaves!
I don't get it. Maybe I'm too old. I understand the first 3 pics but not the last 3.
They have everything that makes them happy so they are happy

We got curious about the time she first realized that she wanted to create comics. The artist shared that it was mostly when she was at school that she wanted to draw them. "I had always done drawings, painting and illustrations but it wasn’t until I took a comic class when I knew that’s what I wanted to do!"
I think my younger self would be mildly impressed by what I have achieved, but still quite comforted to know I got a decent job and a home of my own.
I’ve definitely been guilty of this. Thankfully, there’s always a new day tomorrow. It’s never too late to restart as long as you’re alive!
I’m the opposite kind of this. I have a hobby drumming that I was pretty damned good at. I got breast cancer and recovered, but from having lymph nodes removed in my armpit to ensure it didn’t spread, left my timing off. Plus, arm swelling if I use it too much. It’s so frustrating and easily leads to the end comic scenario.
... or you are perfect at it, and there is no room for improvement. So you get bored and quit!
The most challenging part of the creative process for Valérie is compressing an idea into only a few panels. "You get an idea for a story or a joke, but trying out different compositions is the most tricky part for me. Things like 'how many words do I need?' 'Where do I put the speech balloons?' Stuff like that."
Talking about the part that she enjoys the most, Valérie shared that recently she started coloring her comics, "so right now that’s the most exciting part for me! Trying different colors, using shading, putting in little details, etc."
for example today i ordered a keychain with a bunny wearing a bucket hat and hoodie on it that made me very happy

This why hoarders are encouraged to declutter the life on their own terms. Because they're not just getting rid of the item, they're getting rid of everything else attached to it. This is why I like this image. You want to return to a happy place? Go to the object that brings you joy.
Since these comics are inspired by Valérie's everyday experiences, we got curious about how it feels for her to expose her life like this. The artist revealed that the comics are only as personal as she wants them to be, so sharing personal stuff has never been much of an issue. "I try to keep them pretty vague too! If I do share some very intimate (maybe sad) moments, it’s mostly because I know that someone out there feels the same way, and we can all help each other heal. Some comics also aren’t biographical, but no one will ever know which ones are and which I just made up, or got inspiration from other people."
Aren't there practically no lactose in hard cheese? (Not free from it, but barely nothing?) And a non-milk milkshake is a thing? 😏
Low relative to the amount in milk, but still enough to cause issues.
Load More Replies...Peanut allergy? Nope. Gluten? Stay away. Lactose intolerant? GIVE ME ALL THE DAIRY!!!
My condolences life without gluten can be a minefield depending on what country you hail from best of luck to you.
Load More Replies...Little Caesars and CiCi’s Pizza have never caused problems with my lactose intolerance, i suspect it is not real dairy cheese, maybe a soy cheese-food. Made me fatter, though
Cheese was literally invented so people could digest dairy better. The older a cheese is the less lactose it has.

So we asked Valérie if her family supports her artistic journey. The artist answered that her family wasn’t the happiest when she went to study fine arts, but they're used to it by now. "I make a living as a comic artist/ illustrator and as long as I can pay the bills, my family is fine with that! I also just started doing some stop-motion stuff, and I'm excited to see how that will turn out!"
This is some real heartbreak. When you want to feel small and dainty, but reality bites you in the butt.
When we started dating my partners clothes were about 3 times bigger on me, now it's the other way round since it seems I've found all the pounds he lost
Load More Replies...My boyfriend's clothes fit me perfectly. It makes me feel so fat. Because I used to be so tiny
Yes, perfectly understandable. Not a bit reprehensible. It's so defensible.
"I always loved storytelling. I like using the little characters that I created to provoke emotions in people. To make someone laugh or cry or feel warm and fuzzy inside with your own art is the best thing there is, right? Also, I get to choose my own hours, so I can work at night and get up at 12 pm and nobody cares, so that’s great too!"
Always! And then the washing up time is even longer! That's the REAL pain.
My family while I intimately eat my food slow to get all the taste unless it when I get off work then I'm her.
I need food = microwaving leftovers. My dogs are out of doggy food = cooking them a healthy handmade meal that takes all hour
Isn't that they it goes. Takes awhile to make agood meal, then eat in like 5 minutes.
Can I go back to that age please? Minus the acne and raging hormones though
So... Is the fact that I'm more like the 13-year-old in flexibility and durability at 41 weird, then?
Oh. Mai. Gawd. I'm 40 now. When I was 30 (even 37), I could still run and jump like I was 15. Last year, I ruptured my left Gastrocnemius. In layman's terms, my calf muscle exploded. I wasn't running. I wasn't hiking. I wasn't biking. I was walking. Just walking. I took one quicker step to speed-up my pace (to PERHAPS a trot, but nothing like a gallop), and it went "POP!" Now I stretch several set times throughout the day, as a prophylactic, and at the end of the day if I feel stiff, I have some cannabis edibles to relax my muscles.
I have cracked ribs when coughing. Of course I had pneumonia whenever that happened.
Yup. I want my teenaged fearlessness back as much as I appreciate my adult confidence!!
For those that want to become comic artists one day, Valérie has some advice: "Go for it! You can just start with pen and paper (I did!), you don’t need a fancy tablet or expensive software. Heck, you don’t even need to be good at drawing! The most important thing is that you want to tell a story.
I'd also suggest not comparing yourself too much to others, especially in the social media world. I struggle with this myself, but there will always be someone with more followers or more skill and that’s fine. As long as you like what you create, you should go for it."
I miss my best friend/husband. When he died, it took most of my soul and most of the beauty of life.
I am incredibly sorry for your loss. No one should have to be sad that way. Sending you love, 🤗🫡🥹❤❤
Load More Replies...Reminds me of Rupi Kaur's novel Milk and Honey it's such a good read but hits you like a lorry of bricks. It's hard to find anything left of joy in a world you share with the one you love but it exists within yourself as it always had before anyone else. You'll find it again I believe in you.
Hits hard indeed. Recently broke up with my boyfriend, because things just no longer worked out between us. But I know he was not as unhappy as I was, and that it hit him hard. Knowing he feels like this right now does hurt, even though I know I can't sacrifice my own happiness for his. 😢
I ran for the train once. I didn't make it. Did some major tearing of muscles and ended up with a walking stick for about 4 weeks. I have never ran for a train or bus since. If I'm late, I'm late.
I had a similar experience running for the train. Held my breath to "hide my pain", heard my heart beat slow down dramatically, then I passed out. And after all that, the train wasn't even there yet.
Still way better than baby diapers and puke.

If only my teachers saw this as acceptable. The lighting at my school makes my brain hurt, and I can't concentrate because my brain has recently decided it doesn't want to do anything I tell it to. I bet I could focus better in nature.
My daughter was getting bad headaches from the lights at school. We got her some blue light filtering glasses and it fixed her right up. Worth a try!
Load More Replies...When I say that coffee or tea is like a drinking a warm, cozy hug from someone in a soft sweater, this is what I mean
That's perfect, "glow up"! If the artist here put the tree with lights on a tee and it said "glow up" I'd totally buy it
Load More Replies...This makes me so happy. It gives hope to all things that may have lost it
Funny part is, just like the actor had a harder time seeing with it on, she's taking that to the extreme.
Load More Replies...Haha, yeah. Especially when you're the first one in the vicinity to leave footprints 🥰
I love that sound/sensation, but I wish there was a better word to capture it. "Crunch" is like crackers or cheerios. "Crunsh" is a good compromise, but still doesn't really convey it. Like... A crunch (imo) is a pretty-purely white noise. No color to it at all. The sound good snow makes has some pitch to it. It's deep and brappy. More like a burp than a crunch, but "burp" has too much negative connotation and "brap" is definitely a fart sound. Maybe its defiance of onomatopoeia is part of its charm.
The FIRST CROUNCH! 🤩 The best part of every winter! I thought I was the only one!
Okay, is it just me but the only ASMR channel I would watch is dedicated to snow thooo....
This actually happened to me one night it was pretty creepy.....
"H-hello? Who is this?" Caller! "Guess what I heard?" Me: "what?" Caller" that you were involved in a car accident that wasn't your fault!" Me: "nooooioooo!
whatt i thought everyone got scared by an unknown number?
Load More Replies...It was even scarier when we just had landlines and couldn't tell who was calling. We would just...answer (if we were brave) or we would just screen.
Mine’s to stop overthinking things and to stop making up the most stupid, over exaggerated scenarios that will never happen
Load More Replies...My hope for this year is this but then on 2nd week of January, a lot of misfortune happened to me 😭😭😭 like, money changing machine swallowed my 20$, I gone through a lot of bad days, depressed and anxiety, stressed from tests, etc. 🙃
I really hate that "Netflix and chill" so quickly came to mean "seeeeeeEEEEEEEEEXXXXXXX, may-BE?" No. I want to watch some s****y cartoons and relax. I mean... I won't say no to sex most of the time, but the suggestion of N&C has no ulterior motive.
cloudy is the worst, you completely get roasted by UV but don't feel it.
Yeah, but true cool guys can take it. Cause they're cool.
Load More Replies...Waitaminute. This is at least the third depiction of "cuddle ball." Is this a real product that someone sells?
Men are cool...er than women. It's a constant battle over a half a degree on the thermostat.
I think everyone is missing the point of this one.... It's not saying the girl is becoming loud to ask for another goodnight kiss. The third pic is the head of a popular/mainstream recording artist named DJ Khaled. He is known for always saying *and another one* at the beginning of all his songs. It's sort of a joke/meme at this point. He's been around for quite a while.. I think he started his career in the late 90s, and is (somehow, lol) still making very mediocre music today.
Load More Replies...Why the downvote because I didn't get the reference? Is that a crime on BP? 🤷🙄
Load More Replies...I still think crocs are one of the dumbest, worst, most-tasteless articles of clothing ever invented. But goddamn are they comfy.
I take her home; I drive all night to keep her warm. And tiiime is froooozen! The story of my life, I give her hope; I spend her love until she's broke insideeee.... the story of my liiiiiiiiife
Load More Replies...I stopped getting pro haircuts when I retired. I have the correct scissors and diy and save lots of money and I'm happy. In my 78 years I can honestly say I've never been happy leaving a salon. I always had to even out one side or trim sticky out bits or cry at having to wait until it grew back. I thought it was just me.
My preciousssss...! *scuttles away with a hoard of gingerbread in September*
Ngl I do this with Halloween stuff... I'm still listening to This is Halloween and I don't care that it's February
😭 self termination is so hard on the loved ones left behind. The one thing that ALWAYS keeps me going is that I would never hurt my daughter like that. It's sad when people think they don't have ANYONE who would miss them and that the only solution is to take their own life. Mental illness is just as deadly as cancer, heart disease, etc, but those diseases don't have the stigma of being"weak" or "selfish" if they kill you. We need to do better in supporting people who think the only way out of their pain is by self terminating
I always think about ending it all but I remember my bsf who I have to stay alive for bc he is so much worse off than me.
Load More Replies...Okay I don't like to admit this but let's just say ......I've got the most kindest men for a husband lmao
omg i do that so much. i will literally stare at the tree and like space out
Very relatable and wholesome comics, and the characters are very cute as well. Thank you! *writing this in my own blanket burrito
