Husband Spends 2 Years Planting Thousands Of Scented Flowers For His Blind Wife To Smell And Get Her Out Of Depression
What a wonderful man to do this, very touching. It looks beautiful.
What a splendid idea and very sweet-loving husband. I read that they've been married since 1956. The smiles says it all. The flowers are visited by thousands visitors every spring.
So the flowers also make everyone happy! Wonderful!

They are shibazakura, the name means something like ground cherrys, I think in the us are called moss pink, but can't be sure about that. They sell seed on Amazon.
Load More Replies...When it comes to thinking of the right gift, there are plenty of factors to consider. What the person enjoys, what is the message you want to express and how to surprise them with it. We already talked about how some people ended up getting the worst gifts ever and what were the mistakes behind them. If you wish to avoid getting involved in such stories, just remember that there are two main goals when it comes to buying things for your loved ones: to make them happy and to strengthen your relationship.
In order to achieve them, you have to come up with a memorable gift that will show how much you care about them. Usually, people think that the most special gifts are the ones they come up with themselves. But more often than not, people tend to be happier when they receive something they actually wished for. So the obvious solution is to ask them directly, although it may seem like failing in the thoughtfulness area.
Often, spending so much time thinking of the perfect gift can really make you feel anxious. What if the person will think this is a terrible gift? Or what if others will buy something better? When it comes to this, there’s always a social risk involved. A thoughtful gift can strengthen your relationship and make you feel even more connected to each other than you were before. A bad gift can do the opposite.
My Dog Passed Away Last Month And My Boyfriend Got Me Flowers In The Shape Of My Dog And I Am In Love
Research shows that undesirable gifts can have an impact on the way we see our partners or spouses. Gifting plays a big role in determining if there’s a similarity in tastes and interests between the two people. After a couple of experiments with 62 participants, it became clear that the things we buy have an influence on how we see the future of our relationships, and sometimes not in a good way.
When people received an undesirable gift, "men viewed themselves as relatively dissimilar from their girlfriend and reported a more negative outlook on the relationship’s future. Women responded to their boyfriend’s poor gift choice by inflating their reports of similarity to him, leaving their relationship outlook intact," the researchers explained.
"Although we suggest that this gender difference emerged because women marshaled psychological defenses in response to the threat posed by receiving a bad gift, it is possible that women were less displeased with the bad gift than were men."
“Safety Glasses” That I Made For My Wife’s Optometry Office
Great idea but you know that customers will still keep talking to the space in the middle right? It's very creative though
I saw an old man at Lowes pull the safety divider up and over his head, (so that it was resting on his back,) to talk to the cashier 😆

If done right, gift-giving can actually be one of the best ways to manifest your love. In 1992, Gary Chapman released a best-selling book called The Five Love Languages: How to Express Heartfelt Commitment to Your Mate which revolutionized the way we can see our relationships. According to him, there are five romantic ways people give and receive love: physical touch, quality time, acts of service, words of affirmation and gift-giving.
And today, we are particularly interested in the gift-giving one. It means that we actually "speak" through the way we choose and give presents to our better halves. This does not mean that people who identify themselves with this love language are constantly buying statement gifts and doing grand gestures. It’s mostly about small tokens and cute surprises and not about greediness at all.

Mark Williams, a licensed mental health counselor and relationship coach said, "If you or your partner’s love language is gifts, that means you feel loved [or that you’re demonstrating love] with a tangible item." It doesn’t matter if it’s a pair of comfy Christmas socks or a brand new car, the important thing is the idea behind it—showing that you are always on their mind. There’s also a sentimental value to it, because every time you’ll look at the present, it will remind you of the experience.

My Mom's New BF Literally Built Her A Wall To Display Her Collection
My dad used to get so mad every time my mom would come home with a new coffee mug (she likes to collect them). This is why we don't settle for loser boys, ladies.
That is a very nice thing to do and it looks great. If collecting something makes someone happy then why not (as long as it doesn't over take your home)
That's it, that's how you show support, taking interest in something that's important to your partner even if you don't necessarily share the obsession is a key component of a loving relationship for me. Not only for romantic relationships.
I'm guessing you don't have many earthquakes where you live! Great idea and collection though
I remember seeing this exact same comment the last time I saw this posted. There are so many places where earthquakes just aren't a thing, I'm in my forties and have only ever experienced a couple of extremely minor ones. Nothing knocked over in either case.
Load More Replies...I've collected half dollars since I was a young girl, since my grandfather, who died when I was 5, gave them to me. During my first marriage we were so poor I had to cash in all but a few, and it broke my heart. Years later, when my boyfriend (now my husband) found out, he started bringing me rolls of all types of half dollars and other unique coins--way more than I'd ever had before.
It’s not always easy to determine what love language your partner prefers most. “We often speak the love language to our partners that we ourselves want to receive. Meaning, if your partner buys you an album two days after you talk about how much you love a new band, or gets you a subscription to a magazine they think you’d like, it’s likely that their love language is gift giving,” Williams explained.
My Husband Is A Firefighter And He Built This Indoor Playhouse For Our Foster Children
I wish I had a playhouse when I was a kid. Hell, I'm 17 and developmentally disabled I'd still like a playhouse
It is not wrong to wish that, no matter your sge or mental capabilities. I'm over 30 and love playhouses!
Load More Replies...Maybe the windows are on fire because the children love to roleplay as firefighters too. I think it looks amazing.
That's exactly right! This is in my house. My husband built it. He isba volunteer firefighter and does professional vintage Airstream restoration. We usually had pretend flowers and greenery in the window boxes (but the kids love to switch them out) and our foster sons at that time took apart a toy campfire and put the flames in the window boxes in their pretend play that day and many other days! Thanks for your kind words, by the way!
Load More Replies...Amazing playhouse. I'm not sure about the flames. If he wanted to incorporate his job, maybe add a dalmatian or fire bell or something. I'd understand any foster kids who may feel concern to be in a new home then coming across a flaming playhouse.
My husband built this amazing playhouse. We often had flowers in the window boxes, but our foster sons took apart a toy campfire and put the flames in the window boxes because they were being firefighters that day. I wish I were allowed to post photos of them "fighting" the "fires!"
Load More Replies...This is amazing... I wonder if there's a pole for the little fire fighters to slide down. I think I'd paint the backs of the "flames" green, so they could be plants once the fire is out.
We had lots of foliage and flowers and lots of kids liked to switch them out-- some of the kids took apart a pretend campfire as part of a game they were playing to make the house "on fire" just that day. That's a great idea to paint the back!!

Maybe an ironic gift from a relative who like A Christmas Story a lot?
Load More Replies...Also, if your SO is extremely enthusiastic about the gifts they received from you and brag about them to their friends, that’s also a pretty obvious sign that gifts could be their preferred love language. "If you pass a bakery every day on the way home from work, look at it through the lens of ‘My partner really feels loved when I bring them gifts’ and stop in for a pastry before heading home. They don’t have to be big purchases, and they don’t have to be all the time," Williams suggested.

And it’s something you can keep up! It’s unpretentious, straight and oh so lovely! Some of the more astonishing ones here, I’m afraid that they might peak too soon - and then they can’t come up with a suitable follow up. Or can’t settle into a comfortable routine.

If your other half’s love language is gifts, it might be really beneficial for you as well because it turns out that giving might be even better than receiving. According to research in Psychological Science, it seems that happiness does not decline or at least decline slower for those, who repeatedly gave gifts to others, compared to people who received those same gifts over and over again.
That's A Thoughtful And Beautiful Anniversary Gift
My Wife Asked For A Gold Bicycle. I Bought An Old 70’s Ross Kids Bike And Turn It Into A Low Rider
The low rider is a little higher The low rider drives a little slower (Excellent song!)
Load More Replies...I get the biggest kick out of these. When I was a lad not every family had the money to buy their kids a shiny new bike. They'd cobble them together from spare parts, trick them out to distract from flaws and present them to their little ones. They were honestly works of art, of steampunk engineering. Stick shifts, banana seats, (to fit your little girlfriend), shock absorbers, handlebar mounted sound systems, neeto lights. Unfortunately in the social sphere of the day such bikes were ridiculed. Myself, i tried to join the cool crowd, adding a varooom!, Turn signals and a tandy radio (with horn) to my stingray. Was watching the 4th fireworks at lands end in san fran years ago. A whole troup of lowrider bikes pulled up to entertain the crowd. Neon treatments, hydrolics, disco lights and killer sound systems. I was enchanted. The crowd loved them.
This is a beauty of a makeover! I loved the banana seats, they were so comfortable.
Fixed My Makeup After Ugly Crying From The Gift My Husband Gave Me
My nurses have up a colored-in version of the typical bathroom sign (that we all interpret as a woman wearing a dress) that colors the "dress" to be a cape, much like this: "it was a cape all along!"
So adorable! And btw, don't think you could "ugly" anything if you tried!
I am so doing this! My husband & I are total "Marvel Universe" nerds.
"If you want to sustain happiness over time, past research tells us that we need to take a break from what we’re currently consuming and experience something new," Ed O’Brien, experimental social psychologist and co-author of the research, said. "Repeated giving, even in identical ways to identical others, may continue to feel relatively fresh and relatively pleasurable the more that we do it."
My Husband Made Me This When We First Started Dating
All the guys at his work were making fun of him at first until he was done and then they wanted him to make them one for their girlfriends. I just wanted to share his talent somewhere.
My husband is a restaurant equipment technician. I mentioned that ants were inundating our fuchsia plants, so he made me a few ant "moats" out of leftover copper couplings. Alas, I didn't take any pictures, but let me assure you they were gorgeous (and patinaed so nicely).
Oh so thoughtful !!! My so made me one in High School (not quite as fancy, but I love it)

Man, kinds wish you hadn't included that stuff on the plate. It looks like wahat my cat gags up when he has a hairball. The gift looks cute.
Its just sauce, probably soy sauce or oyster sauce. No need to get dramatic.
Load More Replies...One of the experiments that researchers did was giving 96 university students $5 every day for 5 days to spend on the exact same thing every time. They were randomly selected to spend the money on themselves or on someone else and at the end of each day, they reflected on their experience and overall happiness. And it showed a clear pattern: "Those who spent money on themselves reported a steady decline in happiness over the 5-day period. But the happiness did not seem to fade for those who gave their money to someone else."

My Husband Built My Dogs A Dream Dog House
Or maybe replace the dog with a beautiful white Angora cat.
Load More Replies...I love my dog. But he'd get excited about something and run right through that pretty house lol. He's much less civilized than the floof in the picture. He'd also think the wreath was a toy.
My husband has been talking about doing something like this for our dogs, but as beautiful a that is, they would destroy it just trying to "fluff" the bed. lol
Thats has to be the mosy beautiful dog in a beautiful house that Ihave ever seen!
One reason behind this seems to be that people who focus on the outcome, like getting paid or receiving a gift, tend to become less affected by the experience itself. However, when people focus on the action, they are not thinking about or comparing the outcomes but rather focus on the experience which brings them happiness.
My Girlfriend Loves Giraffes – So I Made Her One
A previous owner of this house painted a "giraffe" (I have no idea what it really was, it was painted by what appears to be a 6 year old) in what is now my closet. I kept it there, mostly bc it freaks everyone else out when they move my clothes to find it staring at them.
This is beautiful -- a work of art! I love the colors of the individual pieces of wood. Very unique and will last for years to come.
You're very clever AND thoughtful, I hope you are appreciated ?

Dog! I love dog! Not a good present, though. Unless Claire has been planning very clearly to have a dog. Right now.
Based on the fact that Claire said “Worlds best boyfriend 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭”, I think she likes the present.
Load More Replies...I love this, because it let's her know he got her the puppy, but also that she has the chance to say "no" if she's not ready for the responsibility that comes with her present. It's a very thoughtful way of giving such a present.

I love it!!! What a wonderful way to gift someone and the community!!!
Looking through the list makes you think that these boyfriends and husbands should feel just as happy and excited as the sweethearts who were pleasantly surprised by such thoughtful and wholesome gifts. But remember, the most precious thing you can give your significant other is actually pretty simple: your attention and your love.
My Husband Had Rotator Cuff Surgery Yesterday. I Found This On Our Whiteboard This Morning And He Must Have Wrote It With His Non-Dominant Hand
My husband has taken pride in what he’s dubbed “Fresh Flower Friday” and hasn’t missed a Friday in almost six years. It’s the best bouquet he’s ever given me.
Very sweet message. I can't help thinking how much $ he's spent on flowers though!! 6 yrs x 52 wks x $20-50 for a small bouquet depending on where you purchase? Must be nice. lol
For years my husband sent me flowers on the 4th day of every month because he met me on the 4th.

He Has The Biggest Smile Right As He's About To Give His Girlfriend Her Valentine's Gift For The First Time
Yep. I can't believe kids at that age get crushes. But they apparently do..
Load More Replies...I think, at that age, they definitely love their friends, but don't understand sex or gender - to them love is just love. It's the adults who push the whole "boyfriend" or "girlfriend" thing.
Crushes are cute but let's not normalize "boyfriend/girlfriend" at that age.
Is it true that in US elementary schools the kids all write valentines and give them out in class, or is that just on tv?
Here's the thing... If they start out thinking that boys and girls can't be just friends but have to be bf/gf to like/hang out, it's going to teach them the wrong thing. That you have to have a romantic label to hang out. Teach them it's normal to have both boys and girls as friends. They can love their friends, and give gifts to friends.

If a man told his date on a first date that he wanted a painting of a scantily clad woman, do you think he would get another date? Why is it different when women ask for such things?
My Wife Wrote A Book, So For Her Birthday I Bound It
My wife wrote a novel over the course of the last 2 years. It's the first book of a trilogy. For her birthday I got the idea to hand bind it so she could see what will one day be a printed reality in bookstores across the world!
Searched it on Amazon. Kinda makes me sad to know she put so much effort into this, the few reviews make it sound like a great book and that she's a great author, but it sells for USD $2.99 and is ranked 2,718,933 on the kindle store. All that work to get little recognition, meanwhile James Patterson writes the same book 200 times and sells millions....
Sadly it's VERY difficult to sell self-published books
Load More Replies...Book binding. Hand bound books are SO awesome to look at and read, each one is different from the next in small ways. Feels like an art that is slowly going extinct.

A Genius Idea
It says: "One year. One year of laugh, love & memories. I want to spend so many more years with this woman. She brought a light into my life that I never knew could of existed. I love you Sophia, happy one year baby. Tim"
When my son turned 18 I made a box with 18 envelopes. On the envelopes was a picture of him from every year of his life. Inside was a card with an inspiring quote and either a gift card or a lottery ticket except for the last envelope. That contained a letter from me telling him how proud I am of him and all he's accomplished in his life and how I know he will do great things. He loved it. I will do it for my youngest as well. I enjoyed putting it together. Going through pictures of them growing up.
If this was me they would all say the cost of how much money we had wasted buying starbucks or some other fancy coffee instead of making it at home "year 7, coffee number 2,128. $9,044 total. We could be on our boat right now, but we can't afford it since we spend so much on coffee" It's OK, my wife understands my humour. And my love for coffee.
Very cool. And now I'm wondering if my old company made any of those coffee clutches...

I Made My Wife A Pensieve From Harry Potter For Her Wedding Gift
I glued a magnet to the tip of the wand. Each of the bottles also has a magnet glued inside the bottom. Again, the bottle sticks to the wand due to the aforementioned magnets. To anyone who thinks this may sound callous, getting attacked is kind of the point of Stingray City. When you get in the water, they give you a piece of squid to hold onto. This attracts the rays so they swarm you. It's in Grand Cayman and super fun.
They would probably sell them. I'd imagine they are not discarded.
Load More Replies...Can someone please explain this to me. I'm assuming stingrays are attracted by the power of the magnets? But what is the reason for the little glass bottles that stick to the end of the wand?
The pensieve is a Professor Dumbledore's magic bowl that allows Harry to view his memories. Dumbledore taps his wand to his temple and draws his memories out, they look like wisps of smoke , and then he places the memories into the bowl. OP has created a real version of shared memories and placed them in bottles. Adorable and utterly thoughtful 💖. They must have met sting ray while on vacation together and now they have a shared memory they can pull out together.

I Made My Girlfriend A Timeframe For Our Anniversary
It creates an optical illusion that the objekts in the middle are moving. (I highly recommend going to the link below the picture (Vitiell0) and take a look at the pictures - there you can see it in action) Answer from the original post: The electromagnet in the middle pulses at a high frequency which moves the thin metal arms on either side in and out. The object that is attached to the arms is then vibrating at the frequency (80Hz) and the lights around the frame strobe at a slower frequency (79.5Hz). So to human eyes the objects apparent motion is only 0.5Hz (very slow)

Seriously, where are these men? Are they internet myths? I've never known or seen a man ever do anything like this for the woman in his life. It's wonderful, but dammit i'm riven with envy, I'd love to experience someone caring about me this much. 36yrs old and I've never had a man do anything more than pickup flowers and a box of chocolates from the gas station on his way home for my birthday. WHERE ARE YOU GUYS?! I'll move where you are if i have to!
My husband is one of these men. Literally: he built the playhouse in number 12! He is astonishingly caring and considerate and is amazing. He is a volunteer firefighter and he is a professional Airstream restorer. He built this playhouse for our foster children, who moved the flowers out of the window boxes and took apart the cardboard play campfire we had to pretend the playhouse was on fire!

Why is this "raising the bar". These are examples of people demonstrating love and respect for their partner. Some of them are over the top, but most of them are just what people, regardless of gender, do when they genuinely care for someone.
Wanted to add... BP recently had a post in which we criticized a society that put men on a pedestal for doing the bare minimum in parenting their children. This post is exactly the same. Why are we celebrating men for simply loving their partner? This post should either not exist, or it should be about PEOPLE demonstrating their love for their partner, regardless of gender.
Load More Replies...My darling husband isn’t a big gift giver but when he does it’s out of the blue and perfect. My favorite is a silver and cut gemstone ring that changes color depending on natural or artificial light that a friend made. I admired it at a show she was at and bought it when I wasn’t looking. He gave it to me at Christmas and there wasn’t a dry eye in the house! But also, he makes me coffee twice a day, every day- the best coffee ever, tells me sweet things all the darn time and cooks dinner every night. We’ve been together over thirty years now and I would gladly do another thirty, or more, if we could. Best. Partner. Ever.
I wish I could add my husband to this list. He had a custom engagement ring made for me. The center stone is his birthstone, there's a smaller stone on the side that's mine; he had it made in rose gold because he knows I love it; on the opposite side to my birthstone he had the band engraved with the Old Norse runes for romantic love (a shout out to my Swedish heritage), and the main stone is flanked by Celtic knots (a shout out to his Irish heritage). It's *gorgeous*.
My wife gets breakfast in bed almost every morning. For 16 years and counting. How does that stack up?
Does he clean all 3 toilets because he knows you hate it? Buy your favorite chocolate from Home Depot? Makes sure your car has gas? Gets flowers because they were there and pretty? Yeah, mine does. He ain't tall or magazine handsome but boy, he's generous to a fault.
My husband starts the heater in my writing cottage makes us breakfast and coffee. Took him 3 years to convince me he was a nice as he seemed.
