My partner had a much darker skin tone than mine (dark chocolate vs pasty white with purple blotches) and bought some bandaids that matched his skin tone. Since he passed I quite like wearing them. Not as a political statement, just as a reminder of how his hand looked like when holding mine. 😍
I wasn't paying attention and picked up a box with mixed skin tones, there are four different shades... I am as pale as it gets but wear them all. I usually buy fun ones (currently I have Batman and Hello Kitty) but they didn't have them in the big size I needed.

When I was a child, Crayola's "peach" color was named "flesh". Now they have boxes of crayons for just different skin tones. It IS getting better, just slowly.

Even the supposed white ones have never blended in for me. I am way to fair skinned for those. Glad the band-aid people finally realized people come in multiple shades and not just that one "white" color.

That's awesome but also strange. I usually use the dirty bar rag and duct tape.
My brother did that one time when he couldn't find the bandaids (they were exactly where they should have been but oh well). I came home to a trail of blood down the hallway and over the basin and chunks of duct tape here and there. I ended up having to take it off because I was worried about his circulation, and the cut was so bad he needed steri-strips on it.

I know it's not the same but my skin is so pale that no band-aid has ever matched it. But I am glad that they are making ones with darker tones for people with darker skin.

Confession, I don’t really use skin tone bandaids. Why have a boring color that barely matches my skin tone, when I can have Pokémon, or Bluey, or Star Wars? I’m already hurt, I might as well make myself feel better by having a fun bandaid. Glad this guy found one he likes though.
I never thought it was to match your skin.. i thought it was the normal color of a bandage .I'm a pale white freckled red head and none of the bandages mached me ..they were too dark tan peachy colored. When my children were little I would just but on their bandages of batman star wars barbie dora.
It's the BLUE plasters (bandaids) that we have in the UK that worry me...

Oh good, well at least they have custom colour bandaids now. Noone ELSE does, even children have to make do with whatever cartoon character they get, but since this black person is clearly more important than everyone else, I'm glad priority was given to him.

Band-aids are supposed to be in your 'skin tone' but who's skin tone. Things like this are amazing and so worth it.

There was a New Yorker cartoon decades ago where a dozen people from all over the world are standing at a pharmacy counter, and behind the counter the cashier is telling his boss, "They all want flesh colored bandaids"
When I was a kid, 60+ years back, all bandaids were a beige-y color that matched no one's skin. I always wondered who they were supposed to match up with. I sorta thought they were supposed match white people, although no one was really that color. I wondered what kids with darker skin thought about wearing these beige things. And then they came out with Stars and Stripes bandaids and I bought those and any fun ones they had. I think it is great that they finally got a color that's right for someone!
And here I go buying band aids in blue and neon's with minions or dinosaurs or birds or cartoon figures.... I wasn't really aware anyone else wasn't as happy about band aids as me...

A very dark friend of mine got splashed with battery acid. As he began to heal, the scar tissue was coming in white. This upset him to near hysteria. So I handed him a black permanent marker.
