I've talked about 3 in my yard several times here, Lenore, Poe, and Nevermore. I give them seeds, fruit rinds (melons and such), corncobs, and their favorite thing is peanuts in the shell. They bring me gifts all the time ranging from pretty rocks to rings and trinkets, especially shiny things. They're so funny because if I'm late putting out stuff for them they will peck on my sliding door. I'm sorry to say that my landlord is selling my place and I'll be moving in a couple of months. I worry about them and what will happen.

I have a crow that visits my yard every morning. I named him Russell (Lol). I put a plate out with peanuts (in the shell) and dry cat food, which is what the internet suggested. He hasn't left any presents yet but he did bring his girlfriend by the other day.

My dad had a pet crow outside when he was a kid. He actually taught it to talk.

I've been trying, but it's not easy.

Crows are very loyal to their owners/feeders. After providing food for a crow, they will create a bond with their provider and may leave you gifts. Such as stones (like the picture above) and shiny objects like coins, buttons, pins, etc. One owner and her daughter were on a hike, taking photographs, and the crow was following along when the photographer lost her lens cap. After searching, she could not find it and headed back home. The next day she went to feed the crows and found her pet crow had returned it. They are very smart, loyal, and have even been known to be vindictive.

I find crows and ravens extremely intelligent. Sadly the part of my country where I live don't have them anymore.

If he's a tiny cat, maybe, but unlikely. Surly an adult crow couldn't lift anything bigger & heavier than it's self??🤔🤨

People MAY be the smartest animals, but they are also the stupidest! God bless the animals. Hope they forgive humanity for our collective abuse.😻

After my husband passed, Crowley (cat) would just sleep on his jacket. Nothing else. Animals do grieve.

My cat lost a whole litter of kittens once, and she really mourned. Moped around for weeks.

Our dog absolutely mourned our cat when she died suddenly :( He kept wandering the house, searching for her, and kept moping around. Kinda limp and not playful. They weren't even that close. He comforted me, because she was my little fur baby and I was the most upset. Still miss her, and I think he somehow knows.

Think of elephants as well as they seek for the bones of their relatives and ancestors in temporally recurring migrations. Each elephant of the herd then gently strokes the bones with its trunk. I think that's the reason why elephants leave for a particular place to die so their relativese would have a place they can access to be close to their beloved ones....🐘😔🐘😥🐘

Because you can’t harm them or dismiss them as unimportant if you understand they have feelings like grief, sorrow, happiness etc. it’s importance to certain types of people to keep them in a place where they don’t matter because they aren’t “like us”

if people accept that animals have feelings like sorrow & loss that would elevate them to close to being human and people would get worried about that
