My dude, I can understand the non-US people. It's so frustrating that few US people can get proportional about the US. But I say that with my hand on my heart and a big mea culpa because I recently spent years down a rabbit hole myself.

The catch is which "racist data" should be excluded? The fact that there are per-capita more Black people on death row, or the fact that a White murderer is twice as likely as a Black murderer to end up on death row? If you're suggesting that the murder rates are skewed because only black people are convicted for murder, you should know FBI murder-victim data doesn't look at whether the killer was actually convicted of homicide and that white killers typically end up spending far longer sentences and are twice as likely to end up on death row... because again, the REAL racism is that our criminal justice system ignores most Black crime, and the people that suffer for that are the people who live in Black communities who have no access to justice.

The death penalty is more closely tied to the race of the victim. You are most likely to be sentenced to death if your victim was white than if they were any other race. 80% of all capital cases involve white victims. When you look at all killers whose victims were Caucasian, black people are far more likely than white people to get the death penalty. This is true even though killers who are black mostly kill black people and white killers mostly kill other white people. Both are less likely to get death if the victim was black. This is why you are seeing the numbers that you are, and, again, why you shouldn’t use stats you don’t understand. Just stop it.

Just stop it? Stop trying to fix the hideously misdiagnosed racism? If you read closer to what I said, you'd notice that your statement, "Both are less likely to get death if the victim was black" pretty much agrees with my statement, "the people that suffer for that are the people who live in Black communities who have no access to justice." But the discrepancy between white murder rates and black murder rates are simply way too high to blame "proven racist data" like Lisa Hathaway and the U. S. Commission of Civil Rights headed by now-SCOTUS Justice Jackson does. And yes, the USCCR was fundamentally dishonest to report a disproportionate number of Black people in prison for murder as if Black people serve longer prison terms when White people serve an average of 4x longer when they murder, and the real cause for that statistic is that Black people commit 15x more murders per-capita than White people (and again, 80% of their victims are Black)

black people are also the victims of more crime because they do not have the same opportunities that non black people have. Being poor and white is not nearly as hard as being poor and black. The system is designed to keep poor black folks poor.

Whoa. Where is this hostility coming from? It's simply based on the adage of "the grass looks greener". I am not sure Canada is ideal but based on what we are facing in the US, it seems a safer option. Imagine being afraid to send your kids to school because you know a mass shooting will happen, you just don't know where. Or really traveling anywhere there are crowds , raises the risk of harm.

I've lived in a lot of places. Canada is better in some ways, worse in others. It really depends on your situation. There is less gun crime, certainly. I would challenge you though, to be blinkered to the media, and to social media, and look at the numbers. As NBC puts it in 2023, "Since 2013, 110 people have been killed and 163 injured by gunfire in 58 school shootings, according to a school shooting tracker." (https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/school-shooting-tracker-n969951#how-we-count). This number probably includes incidents of individual disputes between students, not only random rampages. There's about 74 million students enrolled each year. So one chance in 2,710,622 of an injury or fatality for a given kid per year. A kid is about 1000 times more likely to drown or die in a traffic accident on the way to school. But we rarely hear about that risk. The real firearms risk for kids is at home, and we don't hear enough about that either.
