Journalist Collects Vintage Photos Of Cats Posing Together With Famous And Interesting Personalities Of The Past (40 New Pics)
InterviewImages and videos of cats are some of the most searched and viewed content on the internet. People are just simply mad about them. And what's not to go crazy for here? Their cute little faces, tiny paws, and fluffy fur are like a remedy for many web users. However, you might be surprised that this "psychosis" didn't start with the invention of the internet. Cats were already the stars of many photographs way before 1983 and we have proof of that!
The Brazilian journalist Paula Leite Moreira created a purrfect Instagram account called "All Vintage Cats" where she uploads photos from the previous century featuring cats posing together with many famous and interesting personalities of the past. Even around celebrities, cats have always been the ones getting most (if not all) of the attention.
Scroll down for some adorable and entertaining photographs. If this dose of cuteness is not enough, don't worry, we have you covered. Check out our previous post on Bored Panda for some more vintage cats by clicking here.

American Guitarist, Singer-Songwriter And Bandleader Frank Zappa, 1970
I met Frank in 1971. I was 15 and in awe. He was also an amazing artist, and early in his career, did the graphics for a Campbell soup commercial. There was no one like Frank.
Paula created the "All Vintage Cats" Instagram page in 2020, after having seen a photo from the 19th century on the internet. As she told us earlier, she found herself interested in looking for more old records of cats, so she decided to share her discoveries with other people as well.
To find all these images, Paula searches through the internet in historical collections, archives, image banks and international magazines.
American Actor And Martial Artist Brandon Lee, 1992

Bored Panda got in touch with the journalist again to get to know more about her and this project. We asked Paula how her journey as a journalist started. She answered that it began when she graduated in journalism some years ago, after trying other courses like modern languages and audiovisual communications. "Since I was a kid, I have liked humanities, but the process of choosing only one degree was a little confusing for me."
Nowadays, besides "All Vintage Cats", Paula works creating content for social media.

Paula has always loved cats and history, not exactly vintage photography. The journalist shared with us that she created this account because she's a true "crazy cat lady" who caught herself searching for information about some old cat photos on the web. "Why not share it with other cat lovers?"
American Actress And Comedian Betty White And American Television Personality, Actor And Singer Allen Ludden, 1973
Loved her! Allen was her husband of 18 years (he passed away in 1981, she never remarried) and this is them hosting 1974's PATSY Awards (Picture Animal Top Star of the Year; later known as Performing Animal Television Star of the Year), special awards for animals in Hollywood. That year's winner was Tonto the cat from "Harry and Tonto" (great road movie with Art Carney and the cat): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PATSY_Award#1974
Anything featuring Betty gets a like from me. Betty and a cat. Betty and a dog. Betty and a bag of garbage. Yep.

Looking at all these incredible photos that have now accumulated to more than 450 on Instagram, we got curious about what makes Paula continue searching for more of these pearls. She shared that she thinks the "magic" of this content is noticing that cats have been beloved and spoiled companions since much before the internet. "Definitely, it's not a recent relationship, and vintage photos are proof of it. As a cat lover, it's nice to identify myself with people of completely different ages."
