40 Unusual And Fascinating Maps That Might Teach You Something New About Our World (New Pics)
With so much information being thrown at us on a daily basis, it’s easy to lose focus and drift into apathy. Who cares about so many things at once, anyway?
No wonder more and more people are drawn to this old-time form of systematized information accompanied by great visualization. We’re talking maps. And not just dusty maps from your attic, but the most fascinating pieces that present things we know (and the ones we don’t!) in a refreshing light.

There Is A Lake In Finland, That Looks Like Finland
In case you're wondering, because I looked it up immediately when I had learned about it: It's manmade, was made in 1991, is 116 meters long, and a 1:10,000 scale of Finland! The construction engineer was Esko Sääskilahti. It was going to be the Centerpoint of a tourist village, but that part was never completed. The lake took a week to excavate. Hope you enjoyed learning some more! :-)

I have been to fights where an Australian Football game broke out. 😉
Load More Replies...So this map is about spectator sports. The most popular recreational sports aren't mentioned in it. For example: ping pong is the most popular recreational sport in China :)
WELL... Good to know Canada is... well.. uhm... living up to our stereotype...
Looking at this on a phone, too small to tell who has archery as a favorite sport. Also, archery? Really?
Even on my desktop it's hard to be sure, but I think that's Bhutan. Wikipedia does say "Bhutan's national and most popular sport is archery".
Load More Replies...I'm not into sports generally, but watch out when it's the Football World Cup... Go team Orange! (Although I am boycotting this current World Cup in Qatar).
So, is there a non-ice version of hockey that countries besides Canada like? Lava-hockey perhaps?
Sooo…. What‘s the difference of Australian and Gaelic Football compared to common football and American football?
This might be just because I'm a Sydneysider but there's no way AFL is our (Australia's) most popular sport, even though those pesky Victorians claim it's our national sport. It has to be cricket
F*****g Sydney people. The centres of their own universe. NSW here btw. You have not travelled to other states. You will be amazed to see NRL is the 'huh' game. It is an eye opener how insanely popular AFL is. Even the Indians cannot believe that cricket is not bigger here. But I put that down to personality of the game. Aussie cricketers are not the personalities they used to be. Pup and co? Vo vo.
