Now that our vacation plans have fallen through because of the coronavirus pandemic, some of us are a bit sad. However, we have something that might just cheer you (and us) up! Bored Panda has created a list of the most unsuccessful travel pics that show that even the best-planned vacations can end up as fails.

Traveling and going on holiday during the pandemic is inadvisable because you risk catching and spreading the virus. So it’s fine daydreaming about your holidays, but you should postpone them until we’ve overcome this health crisis. Fortunately, some airlines like British Airways, EasyJet, and Virgin Atlantic are letting passengers rebook flights for free.

Happened to me too! Went back the next day and watched an epic scene as the clouds lifted and exposed the canyon. I cried in awe!
I was made to walk all the way to the bottom and back up again at 8yrs old with the promise of a 6 pack of coca-cola all to myself when we got back up. I had to share it with my brother. Still feel cheated, can't say I noticed the canyon at all though -_-
That is a lot, lot cooler than the actual Grand Canyon in my opinion.
This is a really great shot. Many people never get to go there at all, but you had this wonderful experience.
I think the most amazing thing is anyway to see the other side so far away.
I was not aware that the grand canyon was so grand that it filled with clouds. It looks like you're up the giant's beanstalk looking over the edge

I have always been in awe of people lack of foresite. Didnt they place with rocks and dirt as kids? If they had they would understand why noone should be standing or climbing there is such a BAD idea.

Unfortunately, not all airline companies are the same when it comes to treating their customers well. For example, Ryanair has been accused of “ripping off passengers” when it became apparent it was charging 80 pounds more for some individuals to rebook canceled flights.
While Wizz Air was still charging passengers to rebook flights to Bulgaria and Hungary even though both countries closed their borders.
Ryanair has already grounded most of its flights and said it doesn’t expect to operate any of them in April or May. But in a surprise twist, the company will allow governments to use its airplanes for rescue and other flights. Ryanair told people not to call their customer support hotlines because they have less staff available to deal with the fallout.
Hopefully, everyone can get the refunds they deserve and we can all go on holiday when the coronavirus outbreak is suppressed. Let’s just hope our vacations then won’t be fails!

10 Years Ago I Climbed The Volcano Of Bali "Mount Agung" 4 Am In The Morning To See The Beautiful Sunrise
It was the very end of a 9 months backpacking trip, and I skipped an important and beautiful scuba diving lesson to do it. I had to get up at 3 am for the drive to reach the base of the volcano. My best friend and only travel companion at the time was too lazy to join me, leaving me alone with a Balinese guide that knew not a word of English.
We reached the end of the road at around halfway up the volcano with ~1½ hours left of steep hiking on wet rugged rocks.
In silence, the monolingual guide and I accented, and the higher we went, the more I realised how grossly I had underestimated the freezing temperatures at the top of the volcano - Not wearing any jacket at all.
We finally reached the top 15 minutes before the sunrise, inside a dense and moist cloud, giving us with a visibility of 5-10 meters (16-32 feet) and our cloth and skin utterly soaked.

Well, I planned my trip to the US six month before leaving Europe, so it was hard to check the weather forecast for SF....
San Francisco has surprisingly predictable weather. Just look at the average and you'll likely be okay. Also, plan to see the bridge during the spring or summer between 10 am and 3 pm, or you will likely run into fog.
It's always foggy in the afternoon. Always.
Scandinavia and the UK...and probably many other places, will sometimes present you with four seasons in one day. Checking forecasts is good, but sometimes they are way off.
Yep - yesterday we had brilliant sunshine, with periods of rain, snow and hail. Keeps it interesting.
Ohio will run through all four seasons in an hour. ;-)
Not necessarily. Having been on a few bus tours (which I would imagine quite a few of these are) if you’re scheduled to see it at that time then that’s when you go. You can’t just decide to come back later or the next day. Even without bus tours trips like these are planned months in advance. Again you won’t always have the luxury to just rearrange your day.

I live in San Francisco and see live re-enactments of that Golden Gate Bridge photo all the time. If you don't want to reenact it, go in the afternoon - that's when the fog clears up.
My husband and I went on an Asian tour on our honeymoon and we were so excited to see Mt Everest...failed :'(
We drove with the Gaustabanan (Norway) for a very long time through the insides of the mountain, only to see it on the summit. IMG_201808...081446.jpg

Travelers need to do their homework. Check the climate of the area you will be visiting, northern hemisphere best time is May to July, August is crowded. Southern hemisphere: Sept to Dec. South African Sept = Wild flowers, not too hot, most rain is over, no fog. I visited the UK halfway through April to early June, got super shots.Wales in May - Wales-26-5...bd2376.jpg
Fog got me twice too. Went to CA from GA & took a tour of Alcatraz on a day that was rainy and foggy. Another time went back to Mount Palomar on motorcycle and was the foggiest day that I remember.

like the year l went to Roslyn Chapel..09..they were doing much needed work to the building/ceilings so you could not see them, the main reason for going to the chapel..the up-side was that they had scaffolding on the outside of the building that we WERE allowed to climb and see an angle that you'd never get to see again of the roof..l went again in 2017 and THAT time l got to see the ceiling..
My mom has been 2 London twice and both times Westminster Abbey was closed.
Comforting to know that these travel “ trip-ups” don’t just happen to me+ my family. Seeing such a multitude of stories w/ accompanying photo gives the episode a different spin.......( & somehow less tragic)

All these people are privileged enough to be able to travel, and they complain about fog and construction.
A lot of people work for years to be able to travel to a place they dream of seeing. So, I think they are allowed to be disappointed if they can't enjoy it right.
You would think they would have checked what the weather was going to be like or went when they knew fog would not have been an issue.

I'm going to get downvoted for this, but these kind of seem repetitive. It's "we hiked/traveled a long distance to see (insert famous icon here) and it was too cloudy". It seems that all but 5 pictures were like that.

Those people are like " i travelled to that amazing place but got sad that i couldn't take the pictures i saw a million times. " The world is not a postcard.
Can't people tell it's foggy before they set out for the day? You'd think after hiking for more than five minutes one would think, "Hang on, I'm not gonna be able to see anything with all this fog." You can't control the weather but you can control your planning!
The weather changes quickly in the mountains.
Surely most places in the world have their own websites now? And weather reports are available for pretty much the whole planet as well. Except for cases of real bad luck, I really hope these people can see the joke, appreciate the fact they're travelling anyhow and and will learn to plan ahead next time. This is 2020, not 1980, come on.
All I can't think of right now is how lucky they were that they could travel wherever they wanted and without risking theirs or somebody elses lives.
