Thoughts constantly swirl around in our heads. From when we open our eyes in the morning until we close them at night (and sometimes, even after that), there's always something for us to contemplate about.

In fact, a 2020 study suggests people typically have more than 6,000 thoughts per day. That's a lot. And as much as we'd like to believe otherwise, not all of them are brilliant. So with social media allowing us to instantly share whatever crosses our mind, we broadcast quite a lot of funny, weird, and infuriating personal takes, too.

To illustrate just how random our statements can be, we at Bored Panda put together a new publication on the subreddit whose sole mission is to capture the chaotic side of human interaction. Continue scrolling to check out its latest finds and fire up our earlier piece on it when you're done.

To learn more about our inner filters, we contacted Phil Reed, D.Phil., who is a professor of psychology at Swansea University.

"There are many reasons why people overshare," Dr. Reed told Bored Panda. "A lack of awareness about the dangers is one, but also the lack of 'real' social feedback online is a big contributor. Since there is a degree of anonymity, certain a lack of immediate feedback, people tend to get it wrong in terms of sharing."

However, even though the reasons why people overshare may vary, the act itself seems pretty much universal. Also, researchers from The University of Edinburgh and Northwestern University in Illinois found that the risk of oversharing in conversation actually increases as people age.

When testing 100 people from 17 to 84 years old on their attention skills, the researchers discovered that the older subjects provided listeners with more irrelevant details than their younger peers. As this behavior can be dangerous — older people, for example, might accidentally reveal private info to strangers looking to take advantage — this finding is essential in helping "design targeted training that helps older adults improve these skills and avoid embarrassing and potential risky communicative errors,” said lead researcher Madeleine Long, of the University of Edinburgh's School of Philosophy, Psychology and Language Sciences.

I feel the same about these appeal shows that they have on TV. Lots of celebrities virtue-signalling about how they are working the night for free as they try to guilt you into donating part of your rent to charity. Don't get me wrong, we give to local charities when we can afford to and they do some brilliant work. But I will not tolerate some rich TV star trying to make me feel guilty about keeping a roof over our head and food on the table. Furthermore, and this bit is horrible but it needs telling, a poor elderly lady killed herself in the UK a couple of years ago because she couldn't afford to give to every appeal directed her way. Every penny she had was sunk into charity appeals and when the money ran out she felt so bad that she had to end her life. Literally killed by kindness.

Dr. Reed said people should be very wary of oversharing. "It can compromise personal security, and personal safety, as well as lead to bullying."

"It can also make people very vulnerable psychologically; if they are feeling low, overshare to get support, and are attached for it, then depression can set in."

To keep ourselves in check, Dr. Reed suggests treating communication on the internet the same as in real life.

"Remember, online is just as much of a social interaction as in the real world," he said. "Do not share anything online that you would not in real life. People can get a little impulsive with their digital interactions, so just remember that. Perhaps count to 10 before sharing."

@HellyHacka. The Covid-19 vaccination was created using 10 years of research into other Sars/Covid viruses. It was not built from scratch. They also had unprecedented numbers of volunteers which let them gather data much faster then with most studies.

But thing is, and if anybody reads this I will probably get downvoted, people I work with that got the vax, and then the booster, and then a second booster, have gotten Covid twice! I never got the vaccine, and got Covid once in January, I was sick for about 4 days, then fine, just tired. And I get so tired of people saying, well you just don't get it as bad with the vaccine, this is not true, I have seen people with the vaccine get very sick. It is everybody's own choice. Covid is not what it was back in 2020. And I am not anti-vaccine at all, I just don't understand that people that have been triple vaccinated are still getting Covid...

I'm all for vaccines. Have been since my oral polio in grade school. I'm also for common sense approach to the covid pandemic. Too many people are treating it like an automatic death sentence, and especially now, it's not. BTW, I've been vaccinated. I waited for awhile until the reports came in on how the general population was faring from it. I don't cross a bridge that was R&D'ed for 10 years, but built in 1/3 of the time that it should have been.

I worked on covid units. Automatic death sentence? No. But I did lose three men in their 40s, one each day 3 days in a row, and every one of them was unvaccinated. A nurse who refuses the vaccine probably needs to find another line of work.

It was suffiently tested. They just did it in a faster way than normal. Because it was so important to stop the pandemic, people were willing to put in more resources in order to get to the goal post as fast as posible, and it was given priority over a lot of other tasks, which would normaly have put it lowest in the pile.

Natural selection however is still a process with a lot of randomness involved. In theory it may be survival of the fittest, but things are a bit more muddy in real life, and fittness only skews your odds a little bit in your favour. The problem is that it is not only themselves they take out of the gene pool with their stupidity, but also often a lot of innocent bystandarder. E.g. a drunk driver not only kills himself when he collides with a car filled with a young family.

I really don't understand how you people seem to be unable to comprehend that just because you got lucky with a mild case doesn't mean it's that way for everyone. And people who don't die from it still can spread out to those who do. It's like you all failed biology in school.

It's the mandates as well as the shoddy redefined vaccines that are the problem. Science works. Make vaccines with the tried and true processes. Then people will trust them more. don't threaten people's jobs with untested products.

Why would the quality of a nurses/firefighter or police officer work be in the slightest way affected by their opinion about covid immunization? Plus, you call the human beings "garbage". So if your house is on fire, please check the vaccination status of the fire fighter. If someone breaks into your hous, don't forget to check if the officers are vaccinated. I am a pediatrician, and vaccinated, but this rude comparison of people who work their a*s of for people like you is just really, really wrong.

It would impact their work. I absolutely would not want to be treated by a medical professional that does not believe in medical science. As a pediatrician, would you want a nurse working for you to not believe in medical treatments for children with infections. Just send the parent and child home with some elderberry gummies?

Vaccines do nothing to keep people from "catching" a virus. They lessen the effect of the virus if you catch it. A vaccinated person can still get a virus and spread it.

God gave us free will, he didn’t give us a free for all pass that would result in zero consequences.

But if you are bothered by another person who starts to give you too much information, psychotherapist Amy Morin says your first line of defense should be to change the subject.

For instance, try saying, 'Sorry to hear that. Have you heard the weather for tomorrow?' Sometimes people will take the hint, but you may need a more direct approach if the other person continues to overshare.

The key in such situations is to not reciprocate. Just because your boss tells you she's going through a divorce, that doesn't mean you need to tell her about your marital problems as well.

While sharing your personal stories can be empowering, you should do that at the right time, in the right place, and with the right people.
