Thoughts constantly swirl around in our heads. From when we open our eyes in the morning until we close them at night (and sometimes, even after that), there's always something for us to contemplate about.
In fact, a 2020 study suggests people typically have more than 6,000 thoughts per day. That's a lot. And as much as we'd like to believe otherwise, not all of them are brilliant. So with social media allowing us to instantly share whatever crosses our mind, we broadcast quite a lot of funny, weird, and infuriating personal takes, too.
To illustrate just how random our statements can be, we at Bored Panda put together a new publication on the subreddit whose sole mission is to capture the chaotic side of human interaction. Continue scrolling to check out its latest finds and fire up our earlier piece on it when you're done.

This Would Be The Greatest Irony
To learn more about our inner filters, we contacted Phil Reed, D.Phil., who is a professor of psychology at Swansea University.
"There are many reasons why people overshare," Dr. Reed told Bored Panda. "A lack of awareness about the dangers is one, but also the lack of 'real' social feedback online is a big contributor. Since there is a degree of anonymity, certain a lack of immediate feedback, people tend to get it wrong in terms of sharing."

However, even though the reasons why people overshare may vary, the act itself seems pretty much universal. Also, researchers from The University of Edinburgh and Northwestern University in Illinois found that the risk of oversharing in conversation actually increases as people age.
When testing 100 people from 17 to 84 years old on their attention skills, the researchers discovered that the older subjects provided listeners with more irrelevant details than their younger peers. As this behavior can be dangerous — older people, for example, might accidentally reveal private info to strangers looking to take advantage — this finding is essential in helping "design targeted training that helps older adults improve these skills and avoid embarrassing and potential risky communicative errors,” said lead researcher Madeleine Long, of the University of Edinburgh's School of Philosophy, Psychology and Language Sciences.

I feel the same about these appeal shows that they have on TV. Lots of celebrities virtue-signalling about how they are working the night for free as they try to guilt you into donating part of your rent to charity. Don't get me wrong, we give to local charities when we can afford to and they do some brilliant work. But I will not tolerate some rich TV star trying to make me feel guilty about keeping a roof over our head and food on the table. Furthermore, and this bit is horrible but it needs telling, a poor elderly lady killed herself in the UK a couple of years ago because she couldn't afford to give to every appeal directed her way. Every penny she had was sunk into charity appeals and when the money ran out she felt so bad that she had to end her life. Literally killed by kindness.

I've met Dan! We were both buying coffee and chatting casually; he asked if I was staying at the cafe with my coffee, so we sat and just talked about generic stuff. I had no idea who he is at the time. Incredibly friendly and nice man!
Dr. Reed said people should be very wary of oversharing. "It can compromise personal security, and personal safety, as well as lead to bullying."
"It can also make people very vulnerable psychologically; if they are feeling low, overshare to get support, and are attached for it, then depression can set in."

This Is How Ya Do It
To keep ourselves in check, Dr. Reed suggests treating communication on the internet the same as in real life.
"Remember, online is just as much of a social interaction as in the real world," he said. "Do not share anything online that you would not in real life. People can get a little impulsive with their digital interactions, so just remember that. Perhaps count to 10 before sharing."

But if you are bothered by another person who starts to give you too much information, psychotherapist Amy Morin says your first line of defense should be to change the subject.
For instance, try saying, 'Sorry to hear that. Have you heard the weather for tomorrow?' Sometimes people will take the hint, but you may need a more direct approach if the other person continues to overshare.
Wow. Medical Debt Causes Divorce For Married Couple Of 52 Years
I reckon even Bob the Builder would struggle to fix that. Good luck though, it really is ridiculous.
Load More Replies...I read somewhere that the US medical system is not broken, it's working exactly as it is intended to. Which is to make insurance companies s**t loads of money
They are responsible to their shareholders not to their policyholders
Load More Replies...The medical system in the USA is just criminally insane. There is no other word for what you are doing to your citizens.
Didn’t Obama try to get rid of this ridiculous system and was ridiculed? Seriously I’ve been in hospital 3 times this past year and haven’t paid a single cent and was given meds to take home. I don’t have ‘insurance’ which is private health care. We have our public health system, it works. How the fk do the American people allow this stupidity to continue is beyond me.
They have been brainwashed into thinking anything else is “socialism” which they nothing about and are absolutely terrified of. Basically, they need to get out more.
Load More Replies...Most of my friends and family members are already dead of curable illnesses because of the U.S. healthcare system. Enraged doesn't even begin to cover what I feel.
If this makes you ashamed, the simple solution is to VOTE.
Load More Replies...I am deeply saddened that this was necessary. How can politicians think this is acceptable?
32 of 33 industrialized countries have figured out single-payer national healthcare. To have to divorce because of medical bills is obscene. And some people have to just resign themselves to DYING (or allowing their children to die) because their diabetes medicine costs too much if they cannot afford health insurance. I don't know why this isn't a bigger priority in the U.S. It is shameful.
My husband and I have already decided that we will take this course of action if it comes to it.
I have read of other couples who have been forced to do this. We are a sad country.
We did something like this with our mother. She signed her house over to my brother so in the event of her needing to live in a nursing home, they couldn't take her home to cover the cost. Thank God that never happened because her home wouldn't cover the cost of any decent nursing home in our area.

I have nothing against the majority of Americans, but the people in charge are dangerous. Religious zealots have banned abortion, they’re even discussing a ban on birth control and their medical programs are basically evil, if you’re poor sorry you can die we don’t give a damn. But the pure hypocrisy in all of this makes them no better than Afghanistan, Iran & Iraq because like the US they are run by fundamentalist’s.

My friend is having to divorce his disabled wife after she suffered an extremely severe stroke. She needs to be put into a long term care facility and they make too much married, but not enough to be able to afford it. Stupid s**t. He's devastated. 28 years and they were happy, in love and devoted.
The medical system isn't the problem. The medical insurance and finance systems are.
Is your Dad still alive? Would he be if he lived in a place with socialized medicine?
Yes because the care would be the same apart from the private room and expensive food. That’s the lie America tells itself to justify their ridiculous, overpriced system.
Load More Replies...The marriage wasn't ended, the legal document was dissolved! Don't mix up the two
Good deal until she goes into Assisted Living (Google: Lady Bird Deed) and they come after that money $5,000 a month at a time. This is something we also need to fix now that Long Term Care Insurance is more and more impossible to get (because people keep and use it).
We already have socialized programs in US but for some reason socialized medicine makes some people crazy.
All systems are not designed to enhance the average person who is in the pursuit of happiness.
Or when a marriage can't even happen b/c of fear of anyone existing outside of heterosexuallity.
God bless America! The BEST COUNTRY IN THE WORLD! (Spoken with a touch of sarcasm for those who don't understand the concept).
One day it will happen, and we will fix this. It just won't happen in our lifetimes (I'm 71).
My partner and I aren't married because I'm on the ACA. I'm diabetic and can't afford to pay out of pocket for insurance or insulin. It's absolutely insane
My mother died of lung cancer @56 in 1976. We lost our house to pay for it.
This is a great idea. Absolutely terrible that it is necessary, but a great idea none the less.
My dad considered divorce from my mom when her early on-set Alzheimer's began to take its toll on his retirement budget. If he had, she would've qualified for Medicaid to cover expenses. See, he was forced to retire early 6 months short of 30 years to care for her. By retiring too early, his pension was cut in half. He couldn't bring himself to do it (the divorce) and cared for her until she passed at age 60. They were married 35 years. I have resigned myself to be single forever because no man I have ever met lives up to the expectations my father provided me.
Gasp.. As a paramedic I cannot phantom that. Our salary is so low yet the medical bill sky high.
I used to work in bankruptcy (14yrs) out for just a little over 1. There is a lot going on here. In my state the spouse is only responsible for the others debt if they are the insurance carrier and that just changed in the last 5 yrs or so. Mostly debt is tied to the social security number in the US and not to the names.

Bigotry ?
because republicans believe obviously that women's political opinions don't count but women are merely there to reproduce, as per the recent RvW judgment
The key in such situations is to not reciprocate. Just because your boss tells you she's going through a divorce, that doesn't mean you need to tell her about your marital problems as well.
While sharing your personal stories can be empowering, you should do that at the right time, in the right place, and with the right people.

Wait… so people actually live outside of the country? Really? Oh my god!
