Thoughts constantly swirl around in our heads. From when we open our eyes in the morning until we close them at night (and sometimes, even after that), there's always something for us to contemplate about.

In fact, a 2020 study suggests people typically have more than 6,000 thoughts per day. That's a lot. And as much as we'd like to believe otherwise, not all of them are brilliant. So with social media allowing us to instantly share whatever crosses our mind, we broadcast quite a lot of funny, weird, and infuriating personal takes, too.

To illustrate just how random our statements can be, we at Bored Panda put together a new publication on the subreddit whose sole mission is to capture the chaotic side of human interaction. Continue scrolling to check out its latest finds and fire up our earlier piece on it when you're done.

This reminds me of the story about the old man in the flood. A flood was imminent & police went around door to door warning people to evacuate. He said, no, I have faith that God will save me. After the water was coming in the house, a rescue boat stopped & offered to evacuate him. He said, no, I have faith that God will save me. When the water rose halfway up the house, he climbed up on the roof. When a helicopter came by & evacuate him, he said, no, I have faith that God will save me. He drowned. When he got to Heaven, he asked God, why did you let me drown when I had such faith in you? God said, I did, I sent the police, I sent a boat & then I sent a helicopter!

I once heard this story delivered as a church sermon. The vicer went on to say he had read it on line with the moral - god helps those who help themselves. But he thought a better moral was - God sends help through his angels, and if you are going through something then yes, pray, but get help from people because God works through them. And to remember, we are all called on to be someone elses angels everyday. I like this idea.

When my mom was quite literally dying from colon cancer, some of her church "friends" insinuated that maybe she wasn't getting better because she was putting her faith in doctors and not god. She struggled with their words, until her very wise, very Christian sister said "maybe god sent you those doctors". She at least said on her meds after that, and I like to think it bought her more time with us.

I'm so sorry. Her sister was wise indeed. The other one like that I hate is the idea that someone didn't get better because they didn't pray enough.

Satanists are unfairly and ignorantly categorized. How often do you hear of scandals in their ranks? I've yet to see an expose of all the horrible, unethical and unholy acts committed by a member of the Satanic church against anyone, especially children. Leave these people alone - they do good things in their communities and never get the credit they deserve.

I'd, personally, like to see them go after some of the members of the Christian and Catholic community who have been found guilty of sexual assault against prisoners in residential school system.

To learn more about our inner filters, we contacted Phil Reed, D.Phil., who is a professor of psychology at Swansea University.

"There are many reasons why people overshare," Dr. Reed told Bored Panda. "A lack of awareness about the dangers is one, but also the lack of 'real' social feedback online is a big contributor. Since there is a degree of anonymity, certain a lack of immediate feedback, people tend to get it wrong in terms of sharing."

I'm vaxxed and boosted, and still ended up in the hospital yesterday. Severe shortness of breath, 3 weeks after I tested positive! I was seriously so close to death. The paramedics said my oxygen was dropping so low, I was in danger of having a heart attack. The doctors and nurses seemed pleased that I was vaxxed. 6 hours later, I walked out with a huge smile on my face. It was the breathing treatment, made all the difference. They couldn't even believe it, said they were sure I'd be admitted when I walked in. If I'd known that, I would've just gone to my doctor and avoided the hospital. My CT scan showed some crunchies and mucous in my lungs, so still not 100%, but from the way I felt 24 hours ago, to the way I feel now, it's just amazing. Can't imagine how bad I would be without being vaxxed. You never know how bad it's going to hit you, so please please get vaxxed and listen to your body when it's time to go to the hospital. It still scares me how close to death I truly was.

However, even though the reasons why people overshare may vary, the act itself seems pretty much universal. Also, researchers from The University of Edinburgh and Northwestern University in Illinois found that the risk of oversharing in conversation actually increases as people age.

When testing 100 people from 17 to 84 years old on their attention skills, the researchers discovered that the older subjects provided listeners with more irrelevant details than their younger peers. As this behavior can be dangerous — older people, for example, might accidentally reveal private info to strangers looking to take advantage — this finding is essential in helping "design targeted training that helps older adults improve these skills and avoid embarrassing and potential risky communicative errors,” said lead researcher Madeleine Long, of the University of Edinburgh's School of Philosophy, Psychology and Language Sciences.

Trump went after Obama because he ridiculed him once at that funny press dinner, the one Trump never attended. Probably also why he hates the normal press. I feel the same about these appeal shows that they have on TV. Lots of celebrities virtue-signalling about how they are working the night for free as they try to guilt you into donating part of your rent to charity. Don't get me wrong, we give to local charities when we can afford to and they do some brilliant work. But I will not tolerate some rich TV star trying to make me feel guilty about keeping a roof over our head and food on the table. Furthermore, and this bit is horrible but it needs telling, a poor elderly lady killed herself in the UK a couple of years ago because she couldn't afford to give to every appeal directed her way. Every penny she had was sunk into charity appeals and when the money ran out she felt so bad that she had to end her life. Literally killed by kindness.

I feel the same way about charity drives at work. Unless they are meeting donations dollar for dollar, they shouldn't look to us to make donations. Also, airlines that say you can donate your miles to charity to give them free flights. Flights the airlines could just give away for free anyway.

Before donating to ANY organization find out how much of your money is going to directly support its cause. For example, the Cancer Fund of America only uses 2.5% of its donations to support families impacted by cancer or cancer research. Meanwhile, the CEO seems to be living nicely off his estimated $250k annual salary.

And the business gets the tax deduction for the "donations" that weren't their money to begin with. Just say no, and donate to causes you yourself support. If that is the same one, fine, if not, no problem.

It's not just about respect. The key word there was a living wage!! People are tired of barely living paycheck to paycheck or not even being able to do that. Why work if you can't meet your basic needs and have a little extra. Life isn't about working your a*s off!

I've been saying for a long time now, there is no labor shortage. People just aren't willing to put up with s**t jobs for s**t pay. Either make the job less s**t or make the pay less s**t. Either way you'll start getting applicants. In NY the minimum wage a fast food went up to $15/hr. Places immediately put up huge signs saying they were hiring at $15/hr. If you didn't know about the change, it looked great. If you knew about the change, it was just a big sign saying they were paying the least amount they legally could, and most likely would pay even less if they were allowed.

Not even how much they made the company, but on how smartly they manipulate data. It doesn't matter if the income is 10% less because we have less employees. After all I cut 30% of our overhead, so clearly we Made 20% more then we did last quarter.

For me- it’s not even about dementia/mental decline. It’s more that I don’t think people in their 60s and 70s should be writing legislation that will affect generations they will never meet and don’t understand. Why are Joe and Nancy and Mitch making decisions for us? I want to see our nation led by people who didn’t come of age when you could still slap your secretary on the a$$ and call her “Toots” while chain smoking indoors, you know? We are facing issues that they don’t fully understand. I think it’s great that Biden actually shows a willingness to learn and change his mind, but I want leaders that don’t have to play catch-up. What we really need in Congress is a culture of mentoring and passing the torch. That would be healthier than this “cling to power until you die” c**p.

"That would be healthier than this “cling to power until you die” c**p." RBG comes to mind. She may have had an extraordinary career but her unwillingness to retire at an appropriate age had unforseen ramifications in the future of the US, notably the issues surrounding Roe vs Wade today. Yes, I agree there's a problem when there's two generational gaps between your government officials and constituents or those who came of voting age in the last decade.

Then I came home with a same sex partner and when he figured it out, he didn't care at all ;P Then of course came the questions, if I was bi sexual or identify as a lesbian... Once people gain personal experience with something they used to fear, they cease to fear it. The OP’s father came to know his child and their partner better, and realized they weren’t devils or sinners, they were just two people in love. Dad stopped being fearful and judgmental, and decided to just love those he’s come to know so much better.

Christian ideology does not belong in politics. There should be a law that bans laws being made based on religious beliefs as it constricts the religious freedoms of the people who don't share the same belief. We’d be better off if we can only make government decisions based on facts and logic.

November '20, I had a lady, not wearing a mask correctly, coughing, buying medicine and casually saying she had to go home because "I've just been diagnosed with COVID," come through my line. I'm a cashier. _I was livid._ There were two guys behind her who'd been putting their stuff on and it was a lot of stuff. I told them to please not touch anything beyond the belt nor come and stand across from me just yet, as I went to work with sterilizing fluid, gloves, paper towels, the whole nine yards. I was wearing a mask. The guy snarked, "For what, that fake COVID stuff?" I said, and I didn't care how it sounded to him, "Well that lady flat out told me she has that "COVID stuff" and I am sterilizing everything for your protection. When you are gone my line is shut down and I am allowing nobody through. Never saw two faces go so pale.

I sterilized all but the belt area where their stuff was. I sterilized my hands between full bags (and bagged it all myself), and the guy who'd snarked to me put his hand in a plastic bag before he touched the electronic payment terminal (that I also had sterilized before allowing him to touch it. They made tracks out of there and I hope they learned a lesson. When they were done, I did just as I said...kept my line closed and cleaned every inch of my station, belt, shelving around the area (within reason), the whole nine yards. I then reported and expected to be sent home. I'd already informed the higher-ups, who discussed it at length and decided that since my interaction with the woman had been very brief and I'd taken immediate action afterwards, the risk of my exposure was minimal, so I could stay. I was incredulous, but I didn't get sick, so there's that.

That is what confuses me! Like with the military...they get all sorts of vaccines especially when they deploy that the general public does not even have to worry about but some of them refuse to get the covid vax? Why?!?

@HellyHacka. The Covid-19 vaccination was created using 10 years of research into other Sars/Covid viruses. It was not built from scratch. They also had unprecedented numbers of volunteers which let them gather data much faster then with most studies.

But thing is, and if anybody reads this I will probably get downvoted, people I work with that got the vax, and then the booster, and then a second booster, have gotten Covid twice! I never got the vaccine, and got Covid once in January, I was sick for about 4 days, then fine, just tired. And I get so tired of people saying, well you just don't get it as bad with the vaccine, this is not true, I have seen people with the vaccine get very sick. It is everybody's own choice. Covid is not what it was back in 2020. And I am not anti-vaccine at all, I just don't understand that people that have been triple vaccinated are still getting Covid...

It's because of the different strains. It's how every year the flu vaccination is different, to protect against the newest strain.

Unfortunately, it always stops where Republicans have control. This is what they have done with minimum wage laws. Republican-controlled States prevent Democrat controlled cities from implementing higher minimum wage laws. It's not about states rights, it's only about Republican rights.

Let's take reproduction rights away from women at ALL levels. Hard to get birth control, can't have abortions, can't get tubes tied until u r at least over 40, but we can't talk about giving boys vasectomies when they get circumcised, because it's expensive and not always 100% reversible, however, it would 100% eliminate unplanned pregnancies. But as always, it falls on us women to make the sacrifices.

But if you are bothered by another person who starts to give you too much information, psychotherapist Amy Morin says your first line of defense should be to change the subject.

For instance, try saying, 'Sorry to hear that. Have you heard the weather for tomorrow?' Sometimes people will take the hint, but you may need a more direct approach if the other person continues to overshare.

And some people have to just resign themselves to DYING (or allowing their children to die) because their diabetes medicine costs too much if they cannot afford health insurance. I don't know why this isn't a bigger priority in the U.S. It is shameful.

Athletes are also not supposed to take bribes to affect the outcome of a game, so why are politicians allowed to take bribes from “lobbyists” to affect the outcome of legislation? We should start calling corporate-style “lobbying” what it really is, bribery. Plain bribery. The only exception that should be made is for traditional lobbying, which is merely stating your, or your (usually non-profit) group’s , case and hoping the Congress member you speak with agrees to advocate for you—-with NO exchange of money, goods, or services involved.

Yes, it's called Capitalism, and they'll cling to the laws that give them the money and power, and do everything in their power to keep you licking the concrete. I'm always confused about Americans who will defend their way of life to the death, yet their way of life is pathetic. They have a health care system that is only out to make money for the big guys (Capitalism). They have huge corporations paying multi-million bonuses to their CEOs and the bottom tier is barely living on minimum wage (Capitalism). Their food supply is killing them, and if it doesn't kill them, it causes early ill health. Can an American please let me know why you fight for this way of life? I guess your idea of freedom is to be free to pay taxes, but die early from lack of needed medicines and to work 3 jobs to make ends meet. Let's just say I'm glad I don't live in the US!

The key in such situations is to not reciprocate. Just because your boss tells you she's going through a divorce, that doesn't mean you need to tell her about your marital problems as well.

While sharing your personal stories can be empowering, you should do that at the right time, in the right place, and with the right people.

How about a list of disproven facts that are still being taught - anyone remember the taste-bud zone experiment? Despite EVERY SINGLE TIME the experiment is done, every kid proving that there are no zones...it is still (last I heard) taught as fact.

But her son did. Or Grandson. Or nephew. Or after selling piroshki to you in America, she comes home and watches russian TV propaganda. I am Ukrainian, my father and all his halph of the family are russians. My dad lives in Ukraine for 5 decades and he loves this country. But all his relatives in russia don`t believe him about the horrors and atrocities of russian soldiers in Ukraine, they prefer to trust their TV. And yes, by the way, it is not putin who invaded my country all alone, it is hundres of thousands of russian soldiers killing, raping, torturing and stealing here, who have the fullest support of their extended families back at home. So no, you can't tell me that russian people is not to be blamed

That Russian grandmother may have raised her son to have no qualms about doing just that. I'm sure there are some empathic and moral people in Russia, but I agree with you. Where do all those soldiers get their ethics and morals from, if not their families? They are the ones that raised them, and the Russian army has too many monsters like that to be a moral glitch in a few people.

I'm surprised by the number of folks on this site who think 50 is still too young to be a grandparent. If you're 50 and had a kid at, say, 20 then your child would be 30 and could easily have a 10 year old by now, thus making you a grandparent.

A lot of people feel they can attack people or businesses simply because at that moment a particular group (country, race, name, physical appearance) happens to fit as their perceived enemy. Think of Covid-19 and our Asian neighbors, the war in Ukraine and anything Russian or remember how the folks in Congress were mad at France for not being 1,000% supportive to the U.S. during the Iraq conflict, where they actually changed "French fries" to "Freedom fries" in the Capitol's lunch rooms. What would some of us think or do if a Black man were to hurt Donald Trump intentionally or unintentionally? I can imagine Black folks in general would find themselves paying a price for this one fellow's actions. Grouping the offender and those somehow related to him is what some folks do in their frustration and anger of an issue they can't control or fully understand.

Saw a rock band that is Russian-based and one of their members is Ukrainian (they are a mix of different things, not just Russian). It was such a beautiful moment for everyone to cheer for this member who acknowledges how lucky he is to be safely away but how he knows so many there and the rest of his bandmates condemned the Russian government and say that the people of Russia are NOT for the invasion. I bought one of their shirts for sure.

I prefer refurbishing buildings that are still in stable and salvageable condition. Instead of cutting down woodland areas—-and destroying their ecosystems—-to break new ground further out of town, why not just reuse and repurpose existing buildings in town? Another thing we should do is seize apartments, condos, and houses that were bought by people who never intend to occupy them—-ostensibly as “investments”, but you know, actually for money laundering—-and turn them into affordable housing for average working people. Some could also be earmarked as housing for the homeless, while other properties could be job training centers for them, as well as assisted living for those with mental health issues that require monitoring—-not locking them away, but giving them eventual independence, while monitoring them to keep them showing up for therapy and taking their meds. Possibly with monthly visits to make sure that continues (what happens is many people with mental health issues start feeling great and enjoying their independence, then thinking they’re cured and don’t need their meds and therapy anymore, which starts them sliding backwards instead of moving forward).

Im in Phoenix az. I live right by a very large dead mall. Unfortunately it is also an area overflowing with homeless people. This would be a great idea but its not feasible. Who will clean up after them? (You should see the areas where the pop up their tents they leave trash everywhere) Who will supply the food and cook? Who will police this dead mall so it isnt just a ripped apart inside, wires being stolen to sell. It couldnt work with out major oversight. Safly.

    somegirlwho

3 years ago Created by potrace 1.15, written by Peter Selinger 2001-2017

It wouldn't just be opening the dead mall to the homeless. It would require allocating funding to make it functional housing and to run it just as traditional homeless shelters require but would be permanent housing unlike homeless shelters. Not sure why you assume all or the majority of homeless or low income people wouldn't take care of their residence if they had one. Where is the incentive for keeping things tidy at home when your home is a tent in a vacant lot or under a bridge? It's not like they have trash collection etc. as with an actual residence.

I know. My father was in the US several times for job purposes and I know of at least one time when, in his immediate vicinity, there was a man on the lose with a gun. My boyfriend was in the US twice(!), also for job purposes, and managed to nonchalantly come across a policeman on his evening walk who informed him that he shouldn't walk further, someone's been shooting and is on the lose. Meanwhile, all of us have spent the majority of our lives in Germany without this happening even *once*. Some shootings still happen, of course, but not to the point that parents buy bullet-proof school bags or that anyone would in all honesty say "well, your fault for leaving a door open"...

Even though women, non-whites, and 18-34 year olds constitute a huge majority, while wealthy WASP men are a tiny minority—-a teensy-weensy group of angry inches huffing and puffing and bitching and moaning and calling itself the majority. Easy - idiot thinks: I have an immune system, what do I need a mask to protect myself for? -- Intelligent/caring person thinks: CoViD has between a 24 and 72 hour incubation period, whereupon I am then contagious but non-symptomatic for 24 to 72 hours before I know I have it. So, to protect everyone I might meet FROM ME, I'll wear a mask (properly).

Lots of librarians are extremely qualified, as most of them have an academic degree they hardly use. So they will happily help if you have a more challenging question. Asking a librarian often is like having a research assistant - they will gladly pull any information from any source for you if you ask nicely.

Librarians are highly educated bad-asses that have to hold a masters degree amd usually a s**t-ton of certificates on top of that, depending the state/country you live in and the requirements. It ain't some crazy old lady lost in dusty stacks of books that hits you with a broom when you're too loud. It really is an under-valued profession.

I used to call the New York City library circulation desk for help with random stuff before the internet. I lived in Philadelphia at the time and realized the NYC librarians were THE MOST COMPETENT AND KNOWLEDGEABLE researchers in the universe. I discovered this because my boss at the time told me to call the NYC library to find out (something). I forget what he wanted to know--some obscure fact. I thought he was kidding me. He told me the number was in the rolodex. Sure enough it was! I got a lot of use out of that number; even after I switched jobs and moved to Dallas. That was over 30 years ago. At some point, the library started limiting the number of questions you could ask per phone call and if the research took a long time, they'd charge you a fee. I guess everyone figured out how smart those librarians were.

Back in the days before Google, librarians were Google. I'm in my 60's, I can think of more than one time when my Dad really wanted the answer to a question and called the librarian to ask them to find it out for him. They always did. My Dad thought librarians rocked because they knew where to go to find even the most obscure piece of information.

The teachers and principal should be walking with them. They, and their parents, should be standing in the streets and around government buildings, holding signs, and blocking traffic. Every schoolchild, parent, and school employee in DC should be making a human wall around the Capitol, and they should be there every school day. Teachers should be holding classes blocking the street. Students should be sitting reading their textbooks on the capitol steps. You cannot do business as usual, when children are dying in their schools.

They probably sell excess energy back to the electric company. My family has solar panels on out house, and the electric company owes us ~$100/month. With enough solar panels, they definitely could make a ton of money.

That's broken me. I'm not even blaming it on onions. My daughters have been told they can be gay, straight, transgender, a Muslim, a Hindu, a stripper, a lawyer, a secretary or unemployed. It doesn't matter. If they're happy I'm happy. But if I hear of them being a bully, bigot, racist, or cockwomble then we will have a serious problem.

Schools where I live have a preference for bday parties to invite either the whole class or everyone of the same gender- the idea is to avoid bullying and support inclusion bc some kids (especially with disabilities) we’re being left out time and time again. There are things the school can do to help.

It kills me every time I hear a parent say, "I'm raising kids." No you're not. Kids already know how to be kids. You're raising adults. If your goal is to one day have immature, entitled, assholes who still throw tantrums when they're in their 30s because they didn't get their way or are complete d***s to people simply because they don't like them then, by all means, keep raising kids.

Kids can be extremely cruel to other children, even when they have good parents. However, once the parents know about this cruelty, it needs to be dealt with swiftly and efficiently. Trouble is, too many parents are tired from working 2-3 jobs to make ends meet and haven't the energy or inclination to even find out about what their kids are up, let alone spend the time trying to correct bad behaviour. And that, my friends, is why there are so many out-of-control children in the school system today.

Honestly? I'd rather have it take a bit longer than just throwing ammo and weapons around and afterwards discovering that they should have paid more attention. Remember the US arming the Taliban and Saddam Hussein when it was to their benefit, only to realize that actually, those (and many others) have their own agenda? Because if somehow our guns and tanks end up in the hands of maybe Russia (get grabbed in a fight etc) or Belarus... not exactly what one would want. I'd rather have a slow government than one that has enough tanks to just randomly thrown them to those we deem worthy

We handled everything, absolutely everything in her absence, including month end close, and when she came back and did my annual review (I’d been there 2 months max), she gave me a terrible review, laughed when I said I was a life-long learner (went back to school for degree), and put me on probation. Big PHARMA tries to justify several-fold higher prices in the US by claiming costs of R&D. First, as outlined multiple times below, with data universally available, they do spend more on advertising. Second, why do all R&D costs need to be paid only in the US, if the meds are used worldwide?

Some companies would rather spend huge amounts of money for office space, heating, cooling, etc, than lose the petty illusion of control over their employees. I would think shareholders should notice when companies are doing this and ask why money is going into that horseshit and not into increasing profits.

But that’s not true profit. It’s just cutting the budget. Instead of cutting jobs and not giving raises, they should budget by cutting out the way more expensive overhead of unnecessary physical office space. True profit is creating a better product, and selling it for more than it costs to create and distribute it.

I still have the sign from my family's farm that identified them as dues-paying members of their local fire department. Because fire departments used to be subscription-based, until we realized that letting one house burn endangered an entire community, and that fighting fires in all structures was in society's best interest. Gosh, if only there were a lesson for today in all of that...

So are the police, Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, interstate highways, unemployment, and free public education. Examples of capitalism include bankruptcies and divorces caused by medical debt, people living in tents or in their car because they lost their job, people spending the rest of their lives paying off college debt, and rental housing deteriorating because the owner isn't willing to invest in their own property.

She even voiced her opinions on the matter quite clearly at times, for example when she had black tap dancer Arthur Duncan in her show in 1954, when segregation was still going strong. When the producers and media criticized her for it, she just said "live with it" and gave Duncan more airtime (they canceled her show soon after). She also advocated for gay marriage and LGBT rights although being straight herself, and also was an animal rights activist.

Agree 100%, the "thats just the older generation" excuse is complete BS. My lovely great aunt, who I was close to until she died at 97 about three years ago, was so psyched that we elected a black president (she never dreamed she'd see it in her lifetime), stayed best friends with her downstairs neighbors, a gay couple, for 30 years, and completely supported me when I was considering changing religions (I was raised Catholic). Old people are often surprisingly open-minded if you just talk to them. They've seen enough in their lives to know those small differences are irrelevant.

Same applies for Canada. My MP (Member of Parliament) in Canada was voting against the bill to make conversion therapy illegal. When I emailed her telling her that she was not representing my views, she sent me a huge document written by an ultra-conservative christian organization. She literally used religion to defend her vote for keeping conversion therapy. Of course, I live in Calgary, and Setpahnie Kusie is my MP. I despise her.

In italy it's....3€. Yep 3. I have Asthma And I always see Americans commenting on how much taxes I pay more than them, yeah it's true. But the taxes I pay for universal healthcare (STRICTLY FOR HEALTHCARE) per year are slightly less than 2.500€ In return I can have all the exams, all the tox screens, blood tests, ginecology visits, prescriptions, doctor check ups I want for basically peanuts. Once I had an asthma attack tha turned into a panic attack, I was hospitalized 7 days receiving oxigen and I paid NOTHING. They even gifted me with an extra inhaler and some pills so I didn't have to make a prescription and buy them to finish my therapy. My relatives in Columbia SC pay 10-20 times what I pay, and pray s**t won't hit the fan anyway because they had horrible experiences with my little cousins health problems. I'm sorry but everything they teach in the State against free healthcare is just propaganda. Those are the big pharma you should fear.

The taxes aren't even that higher. I had people from USA telling me they only pay 23% of their income in taxes. Well, me too. I earn a bit less than medium income, but still. I think often opinioners just take the taxation % for the highest tier of income and pretend everyone in that country pays that (I don't know in the US, but in most countries taxation is progressive, meaning the more you have the higher the % you pay in taxes)

I never needed one, but a friend does. She told me that here (in France), if you need an inhaler because you're having an attack, you can just go to any pharmacy and they'll give you one for free no questions asked. Because they know it's an emergency and don't care about the bottom line, at least not to the point of killing you.

Not for an adult. Prescription cost applies, but that can cover 2 inhalers, so roughly £4.50 each.

Education = less crime, poverty, death, unwanted children, and idiots running the show. Ppl would vote for the best candidate, not party. Wouldn't let massive corps run the country or destroy lives (esp medical) for their own greed. Ppl wouldn't stand for slave wages, breaking their backs just to survive. It would also educate them on the scary word that mustn't be spoken...that they already benefit from..."free" k-12, school buses, libraries, fire depts, SSA, etc. They could choose to educate and lift the entire country up, but instead choose to fund a "free" force created by every county to harass, bully, terrorize and murder their citizens. We could bring this country out of the shite hole it has become. But those who could change this are the very ones who caused this, profit off this, and those who are too uneducated/beat down by life to realize they hold the power to change...everything.

The point is that, as long as college is expensive, just the fact that you managed to go is a sign that you come from the "right kind of people." The education is secondary.

Advanced education being free and a right for all citizens is a great wealth equalizer. You also gain an educated workforce and society. Like it or not, ignorant people tend to make stupid decisions. This should be ideal for all democracies. But alas, being a democracy also means, the ruling elite would have more to gain if a good portion of the population is ignorant.

I'm sorry this happened, but that is the medical staff's fault for not being able to recognize an immediate need for proper medical care or an intentionally understaffed hospital trying to save money with inferior workers. The hospital is already padding the bill for 10x the appropriate amount so they are such a moral business in the first place, right?

    B 🇺🇦🇨🇦
    Community Member
3 years ago (edited) Created by potrace 1.15, written by Peter Selinger 2001-2017

There is such a thing as “too much.” Sometimes hospitals have too many emergencies to handle. If you have 20 emergencies but only 10 staff, for example, what are you going to do? The point wasn’t “look how bad the poorly underpaid and overworked medical staff are, this is all their fault,” the point was “get vaccinated and stop overwhelming the hospital staff for no reason when you could have easily prevented this visit because they have enough other emergencies to take care of.” 🤦‍♀️ Maybe it’s a hospital admin problem but don’t blame the medical staff for that, it’s out of their control and they’re trying very hard. This story just goes to show how poor the healthcare system is down there, not that medical staff are bad guys.

She bought a car, paid her rent for a year, gave me and her daughter money. She also needed receipts to prove where she spent the money. So the stuff I bought with that money I gave her receipts.

I hope OP's daughter never gets sexually assaulted. I also hope that if she does, she gets therapy, because her father has raised her to blame herself, to think that she has somehow "let" herself be abused. Raise your daughters to be confident, raise them to be strong, and to defend themselves. Raise them to know that rape is not the fault of the victim, ever. That she didn't "let" him. If she was drugged or drunk, it was the rapists fault, not hers. If he was stronger than her, or had a weapon, it was the rapists fault, not hers. If she was paralysed by shock and fear, and couldn't effectively resist, it was the rapists fault, not hers. If he used threats to force her compliance, it was the rapists fault, not hers. Stop teaching victim-blaming and s**t-shaming disguised as empowerment.

In May 2019 the US Army tweeted “How has serving impacted you?” obviously expecting a bunch of “I am proud to serve my country. Go ‘Murica! Rah!” patriotic answers. Instead they were flooded with stories about suicides, PTSD, depression, drug abuse, sexual harassment and assault, and getting kicked out for being gay.

I still find it baffling and shaming that as late as the year 2000, people serving in the UK armed forces were not only kicked out of the service, but potentially convicted of a crime, lost their pensions, and had all their medals stripped from them just for being gay.

War is the greatest crime because it includes all the crimes. Which takes nothing away from the courage and sacrifice of participants who think they are doing the right thing. Those who start wars or direct them should fight each other and leave the rest of people alone.

My mother refused to sign things for school already when I was 13. So if I had been sick or something, she did not write me a note for school and sign it. She told me to write the note myself. But she did not ask me to sign it with her name (fraud). She thought that I was so old that the school should trust me, and told me to write the notes and sign them with my name.

I think human behavior has changed and adapted faster than our genetics could keep up. In some ways, on the whole, we're better off than ever before (putting aside momentarily the climate crisis), but we're not getting enough of the things that we've evolved to derive pleasure from, like community, physical activity, and an immediate sense of connection between the things we do and the fulfillment of our physical needs.

How I do my taxes: the local equivalent of IRS sends me my tax report with everything already filled, with info on how much I owe them or they owe me. I just go through it and make sure everything checks out. If they don't hear from me, what they sent stands as my tax report.

Edit: I found out abt this group called the Janes or smth like that they helped get people abortions before they were legal and had a “pay what you can to help the next person” kinda thing. For everyone who is so concerned about this woman it could well be when she says "I don't know what to do with myself" she could mean "I don't know if I should dance butt naked to the Time Warp at full blast or try to sing both parts of Phantom of the Opera at once because he's not here to stare at me". Wow. So, when hubby is away...I do all the things I can't while he's here. Deep cleaning that requires days to dry without being touched/moved. Eating at places he doesn't like. Anything I want to get organized that I normally wont do while he's around because all the disorganization and activity to get organized gets on his nerves. It's not so much 'he never lets me do' as 'I choose not to because he's with me.'

This story started from a web channel called Mega TV and is unsubstantiated by any reliable source. There were cases of Antivaxxers who faked their vaccination card, several are being prosecuted under Greek law and risk a fine equivalent to 6000$. If this story was true, the doctors would have their medical practice license revoked for administering a treatment without consent and faking medical records.

Yes. Batman actually uses his wealth to help Gotham. The Bruce Wayne Foundation donates money to keep Arkham Asylum and possibly Blackgate Penitentiary operational, Gotham P.D. usually gets a hefty cash boost from the foundation as well, and there are countless other places and people who receive help too. Obvious examples being D**k Grayson and Jason Todd, two orphans who would have had nothing if Bruce hadn't taken them in. Freeze and Ivy have no problems killing to achieve their goals. Something Batman is vehemently against.

It isn't luck. It's causation. They caused it. They obstructed change. They have been courted by the right. They exchanged our future as long as they got what they wanted. I'm Gen X btw. I have lived through every Republican majority that deregulated financial rules. SNL scandal, Dot Com bust, Housing Bust, the Great Recession, Hyper Inflation. The rights formula always fails, yet is always repeated. The Boomers stopped healthcare reform while demanding higher benefits, they have been the worst, most entitled generation ever. There are so many problems now, it can't be fixed. It would take a unified effort and the formula to keep us fragmented to prevent that is simple. This group wants something normal (marriage, freedom from racism, sexism, immigration, etc.). That will hurt you by (BS reason). Vote for me to stop them. The politics of hate is why the US is a joke. It's why we are struggling. The problem is too big now. And the country is too spiteful to fix it.

I'm GenX too but I'm also aware that every generation has been through hells that the others can't imagine. Life is different for every individual!! We haven't known being drafted into wars in droves, we have lived with conveniences never imagined before our generations. We have our difficulties and prior generations had theirs. Every "Boomer" isn't responsible for what their government did anymore than all of us choose what our idiot government has done to us, in the form of stripping away women's rights and more. It's time to accept that we are here now and no blaming fixes things. "Boomers" aren't some evil group! Any more that Xs, Millennials, or Zs... we all just have/had/will have different worlds to navigate and do the best we can with them!

Oh it's much worse than that. When my father retired as a teacher in 2014 he was earning around 42,000. My mum never worked after having me. Over 30 years that salary bought a 4 bed home, brought up two kids, paid for a new car every 3 years and a foreign holiday each year. Today my wife and I have a combined salary of over 125,000, placing us in the top 5 percent of household incomes in the UK. And we JUST about managed to scrape enough together to buy our first home last year (aged 34), haven't had a proper holiday in years, drive 5 year old cars, and couldn't even dream of bringing children into the world. It's not that the rules of the game have changed, the game just doesn't even exist anymore.

Some things have experienced reverse-inflation in that time though. In the early 1990s my parents replaced the B&W television they had been given as a wedding present in 1984 with a 26" color set which was probably around $500. Adjusted for inflation, the cost of that TV would be over $1000 today, but adjusted for the deflation in TV prices since then, it would be $9.34 (figures derived from data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics).

She was looking for a safe place to pull over as the shoulder was too narrow where she was driving. A pit maneuver is a method of using one vehicle to unbalance another to get the driver to stop, but can result in the second vehicle rolling depending on conditions. As to why the cop did that? He's a fascist who joined the empire to do violence upon the people with impunity.

I've rewactehd GoT many many times including the last season. I don't care about how it ended (it was underwhelming, but not outrageous to me; I was okay with the general picture), I care about the ride and all the emotions I felt while I first watched it. I like reliving that.

Wouldn't it be great if Bernie outlived Elon?
