From mid-September to mid-October of 2020, I tweeted a fact about every country in the world on my Twitter account, @FactBuffet.

Why did I do it? Well, partly due to COVID-related boredom but also a burning desire to spread positive information about the world during a time when people are so isolated from (and even disliking towards) other countries. It turns out that every country in the world has interesting and admirable tidbits.

Here are 50 of the facts I tweeted. Prepare to have your minds blown and to add a couple of items to your Bucket List.

well yeah, when you have experience you know how to do things better, look at South Korea and Taiwan, they had SARS years ago, so they knew how to deal with this one. Death Tolls leads to learning how to prevent it again. The issue is when you havent faced it before, how you deal with it, especially given different political, infrastructure, geography, etc from different countries that makes it hard to take the plans of one and replicate it in another.

Unfortunately, these extremely busy women are still expected to take on the full load of a stay at home wife and mother. Socially, husbands are expected to not help, looked down on if they do, and often, it is looked down on to hire servants. At least it was like this a few years ago. These women are powerhouses with the loads they are carrying.

Israel still uses a system where each party has a letter of the hebrew alphabet as their symbol, you take one card with the party you wants letter, put it in a envelope, seal it, and then place then you leave the privacy room and go to the room with the box where you put the envelope inside while a poll watcher sees. Was done because many of so many Jewish refugees from so many countries arriving in 1949 and just before, that they needed a way to make voting simple. They still use it.

Absolutely not. The hours you have to teach children are so limited. There are so many unbelievable important things children need to learn. Teach them about critical thinking (I mean the real thing, not what universities today are offering). Teach them life skills and about technology etc. Chess is absolutely great for the brain but so are many other things that are much more relevant to somebody's life.

Just chess? What about other games. Why is this special? Magic: The Gathering? It's a very complicated game, people can turn professional, and it's never the same game twice.

I watched a documentary on this a long time ago. It was built in a really windy place, Dubai I believe. The building is shaped to help guide wind towards the turbines. And the bridges are designed to expand and contract since the two buildings will shake and shift a little differently than one another in high winds.
