I Spent A Year Traveling The World And Photographing People Committed To The Yoga Lifestyle (New Pics)
A year ago, I went on a round-the-world trip, during which I visited 28 countries and took interesting photos of people practicing yoga in unusual places.
Through my photo series, I wanted to show beautiful people from the big cities who are committed to yoga philosophy and yoga lifestyle; people, who live in the middle of a hustle but manage to maintain their harmony and happiness. It doesn’t matter what is surrounding you. What really matters – is how you look at everything around you.
The travel photography project called "Yoga and the City" combines art, spirituality, and fitness. These beautiful photos are a reflection of a person’s strength and power. Strength to overcome adversities and to find a balance while living in a fast-paced environment. Yoga – is a way to find alignment with your true self, to become closer to your spiritual core.

One-handed headstand. Left hand is braced on the step, arm is hidden behind all that hair.

I believe this one is either photo shopped, or there's a hidden force helping her not fall on her head. Is it possible that her 2 feet are pushing outward hard enough to counter the downward gravity force ? I don't know... that foot on the left looks pretty weak to me.

ah ha. A one handed headstand !! Her right hand ( in a prayer position ) leads you to believe it's interlocked with her left hand, but the left hand is actually braced against the ground hiding, behind all that hair. very sneaking.

My mom when she was young did that at home. She had to wait for a few hours for her husband to come home and release her, cause she got stuck in that position due to a muscle cotracting (she put her feet behind her neck). She ached for several days. We always remind her that, when she yells at us not doing sports enough :D

Agreed! I used to be able to do this and I am not into yoga. Just because you can position yourself into something abnormal and make the "ok" signs with your hands does not mean you are a yogi.

Absolutely photoshopped. The light on the body is from the wrong directions, plus no proper shadow/reflection compared to the structure. Even the light on the buildings in the background are coming from the wrong angles.

So based on most of these photos yoga is an art of making a human pretzel ? These photos make it look like yoga is all about showing off your contortionist skills and actual yoga is so much more than that
