Online Group Shares 50 “Terminally Stupid” People Showing How Dumb They Really Are
We’re all guilty of having done something dumb in the past. Things that sometimes keep us awake at night or make us cringe in the middle of the workday. Remember that idiotic thing that you did way back in middle school that made everyone laugh at you? Yeah, let’s spend the next four hours obsessing over it and imagining how things couldn’t have gone worse and how everyone’s probably still laughing at you. However, getting some perspective can set us free.
That’s where the r/TerminallyStupid subreddit, an online community with just over 121k members, comes in. The group documents the times when “terminally stupid” people were “dumb in a way that threatens their safety or someone else’s.” And the things they post are most likely miles worse than anything we’ve ever done.
We’re featuring some of their best pics, so grab yourself some popcorn and get ready to dive deep into the abyss that’s known as human stupidity. We hear that, much like the universe, it’s thought to be infinite.

The subreddit is fairly fresh. r/TerminallyStupid was founded in late February of 2019 and will be celebrating its third birthday in less than two months.
If you’re planning on becoming a member of the community, then you should keep the rules the moderators set out in mind. First things first, the content that you post has to match the spirit and direction of the subreddit itself. “Any post that does not have some terminally stupid person in them will be removed. This does not include posts about the subreddit itself,” the moderators explain that things have to be relevant.

Meanwhile, even though at the core of the subreddit lies the desire to poke fun at people who do really dumb stuff, the moderators still care about those people’s privacy. On that note, all names have to be blurred or scratched out so that they’re not readable. The same thing applies to license plates.
The only exceptions are public figures and famous people who we, obviously, know and can comment on their behavior openly as much as we like. However, this doesn’t mean that the focus should be on politics. “Please, No politics. This subreddit is not going to devolve into a fight between the left and right. Users found to be in violation of this rule will be banned,” r/TerminallyStupid’s mods warn.

"We spend a lot of time and effort presenting an ideal version of ourselves to other people. When something happens that contrasts with the image we’ve been projecting—when we say or do something that shows we actually aren’t as graceful or as smart as we’d like people to believe—we feel embarrassed," Vanessa explained to Bored Panda what happens when our perception of how great we think we are doesn’t match reality.

It’s not all doom and gloom when it comes to embarrassment. In fact, it can be a very positive force. That is if we react accordingly.

“So blushing, burying your head in your hands, laughing, acknowledging how embarrassing something was, are all totally healthy ways to react,” Vanessa said that we shouldn’t feel embarrassed about feeling embarrassed. In fact, trying to hide our embarrassment can actually backfire on us.

I wonder if this grandiosity (I can be anything, the state can do anything) is part of the polarisation that is epidemic in society. It would explain the entitlement and the continuous disappointment when unrealistic expectations cannot be met. (on a more serious note: Real question is why no one has started a drug company purely to capture this market. Sell insulin for 15$ and become a dominant brand overnight. Probably a lot of red tape that prevents such an obvious solution, although I do understand why Sanders would not be the first to mention that.)

I have similar problems with affording my epi-pen. Sometimes my insurance pays, sometimes they refuse. Getting 4 epi-pens, something I absolutely cannot go without, costs 5000$. Its ridiculous!

When my ex was first diagnosed with diabetes in 1987, insulin was $12/vial. He had two different types of insulin so he paid $24 for insulin a month. The glucose meter we got was $325 then strips bought on top of it. Once he got insurance he paid next to nothing for insulin and strips. It's horrible that corporate greed can take over this lifesaving med.

Only the US and New Zealand allow drug manufacturers to advertise on TV. Get rid of the advertisements, save billions in advertising for the drug manufacturers, which should lower drug costs...lower the risk of unnecessary and potential death by drugs prescribed by kickback doctors...get rid of the shameful politicians who lobby for this., and on and on.

Government regulations are estimated by Christopher Conover to cost the healthcare industry hundreds of billions every year. It's not capitalism's fault healthcare prices are ridiculous, it's the government's fault, with its regulations preventing competition and keeping prices high. In a free market, if one company charges ridiculous prices, you would purchase from another company, and the first company would be forced to lower prices to compete. This isn't happening, however, because of government regulations keeping prices high.

The second vial costs $5 to make. The first vial cost $1 billion. It takes years of expensive research to develop a new medicine. And then you have to go through a government approval process that takes years and costs millions more.

I'm not convinced this is true. There has been an urban legend around since the '90s about a cleaner at a hospital unplugging the life support to plug in the floor polisher. The story supposedly took place at a hospital in South Africa, but follow-ups showed it never happened. Then a few years later I saw the same story on the news (here in South Africa) about it happening it Zimbabwe. It never happened!

I don't think this should be here... Lighthearted stupidity is one thing, some of these entries are a little morbid, but this is disgusting and rather disturbing to read. It's not stupidity, it's a deliberate denial of reality with fake statistics for the purposes of making women seem inferior and giving 'reasons' to hate them (and possibly to ignore any r*pe accusations because 'its just made up, you can't trust them.) I'm not sure how many are stupid, how many are (bad) jokes, and how many are just cases where we all have that "brain fart" moment. That said, my one friend homeschooled her kid so brilliantly (note: sarcasm) that he's a flat-earther. In the US Air Force.

Some people really just haven't heard the life lessons the rest of us have. Case in point a flatmate at my first flat, whom I found trying to pry her stuck toast out of the toaster with a solid metal butter knife. Honestly it was so on the nose I thought she was pranking me for a split second then I saw the toaster elements were on 🤦♀️ she was ok, I screamed and thankfully she jumped but dropped the knife (I didn't scream on purpose)

I have been told since I was a child to never put metal in the toaster, and I always took it to heart. And yet every single freaking time something gets stuck in the toaster, I grab a fork or knife and get about an inch away from sticking it in there before I suddenly remember and stop myself. All of us are complete effin' idiots sometimes.

i always laugh at these, but i've had my moments as well: I've picked up a curling rod by the hot part, thought Vermont wasn't a real state and was made up for the movie White Christmas until I was there (13 years old), got onto the neighbor's roof and sat on the glass skylight with a crack in it (thankfully I didn't fall through), and thrown a glass Christmas ornament to someone who was not actually there (it was me, in a mirror. i threw a glass ornament to my own reflection. needless to say the ornament did not make it.)

Had a patient before, she is on her 30's. She told me that she is tired of coughing and don't like the taste of the phlegm. I told her to cough it out and spit it and she said that the previous nurse never told her that.
