From Los Angeles to Washington DC, people have recently been coming together across the US for Pride Month. But it hasn't just been a celebration for people who are lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender, because people's parents have also been coming out in support of their LGBT children. Moms and dads joined their kids on the streets to celebrate diversity and raise awareness about LGBT issues, including one mom who carried a sign saying "my trans son is a stud" and somebody's father who wore a t-shirt announcing that he was "the proud dad of a smartass gay son."
"I had an amazing day today marching with my child!" wrote one supportive mom on Facebook after attending The Equality March for Unity and Pride. "We were inspired by all of the support! We can not rest until everyone is accepted for who they are!" We couldn't agree more. Its so heartwarming to see parents getting aware of the times we live in. I recently studied at a Webinar at E Care Behavioral Health Institute that parents also struggle to come to terms with the sexual orientation of their kids. Narrative therapy needs to be adapted to make them understand the gravity of their behaviour towards their children.

Yours is the disgusting comment. Has it ever occurred to you that being raped doesn't turn one gay? Sexual assault is not the cause of homosexuality. That is one of the most ignorant things I've read on here in quite awhile. Gay is natural, found in both animals and nature the world over, throughout history. It's sad that you've chosen to be hateful toward your fellow man. This article is beautiful because parents are choosing to support their children, regardless of hateful people like you. When held up before God, I'm sure they will pass through while you are sent to burn with atheists like me. See you there.

A Christian should rather listen to Jesus and not to Paul who, in my opinion, did not at all understand the central message of Jesus: Love one another. Or, as John put it: God is love, and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him. Every time Jesus saw people being discriminated he defended them, he would never have approved of the rejection of gay people by some so-called Christians. Jesus tried to teach us a very different view of God than that of the petty and vengeful God of the Old Testament, sadly not many of his followers listen to him.

I really wish this wasn't an issue anymore. Don't get me wrong, I think it's fantastic that there are loving and supporting parents that won't condone their child's sexuality. I wish that having to "come out" wouldn't be such a hard topic. Yeah, I know, for the majority it's always going to be a obstacle, having to face the fear of being ostracized, but it should be a normal part of society now, and yet, it's still being stigmatized. Anyway, it's great to see this kind of support.

Awesome people. We have to support those young women and men to show, that it's th4e HUMAN who counts, not if they are lesbian/gay/trans/etc, fat, skinny, blonde, dark-haired, African, Chinese or European type. Everyone deserves respect and to be proud of whom they are in every aspect.

My dad doesn't think being gay is natural but I asked him one day what he would have done if my brother told him he was gay. He told me that although he doesn't understand, my brother is his son and he will always love him no matter what

Why do LGBT+ are marching and heteros do not?.... UMMM WELL maybe because heteros don't get punched in the faces for loving someone? Maybe because heteros aren't discriminated all the way? Maybe because LGBT+ people just want to be treated equally? Maybe that's why?

Well it's not necessarily encouraged to BE gay, it's just more accepted. And "r******d" is an offensive word, please try not to use it? Being non-gendered is a real thing, with scientific evidence of it's existence, if you know where reliable sources are. It hasn't gotten out of hand, it's just being known. This stuff has been around FOREVER, it's just that people haven't realized/accepted it's existence until recently. I'm not trying to start an arguement, I'm just trying to explain.
