Puppy mills are a nightmare and exist only because people can make easy money by forcing constant pregnancies on the mothers to get as many litters as possible as quickly as possible. The mothers are kept in filthy, cramped cages, often with only wire mesh to walk on or lay down on, only enough food and water to keep them breeding, no medical care because that would cut into their income, no freedom, no attention other than taking the pups as soon as weaned, and when the mother can't produce anymore, they kill or discard her. People who run puppy mills are on the same level as poachers - one of the lowest forms of life on our planet.

Blame it on the unwitting or deliberately ignorant people who insist on buying a certain breed of puppy and the unscrupulous, f*cked up individuals who 'farm' them. We have just rescued a dog from a puppy farm, they let her go because she was 'only' having two pups at a time.

this thing of forcing the reproduction of dogs, is the fault of the people, who instead of taking a puppy to the kennel, must have the purebred dog, but spending the minimum. therefore they finance this section of purebred puppies, which are imported too small, without vaccinations, killing many on the journey, and then passing them off for very little time, but without warning that the young ones could be sick.

I do not agree with puppy mills, but one trait than an animal must have before it can be domesticated in the first place is the is breeds fast and often. That is why a few strays soon make large packs in the urban areas. No one has to force a dog to get pregnant ever, wild dogs will be present why nursing a litter if they can. I have seen female dogs back herself up to chain link finance to let males breed.
