Except the whole story was never really proven. There is no specific dates or locations. No full name of who actually bought, where it is, who sold it - a bank or auction-house or someone else. A story circulating on the Internet is not necessary true, just because someone rally want this story to be true. https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/200-nebraska-farmers/
Indian food for me is galloping across the playground at primary school with the wind in my hair, squealing into the air and pretending to be horses with to my (Indian) friend whose mum came to the school to teach us how to make samosas. (Deep frying at primary school wasn't an issue in the 80s!) Like everyone at my primary school, she moved away because her dad was in the air force but Natasha, I will always remember you like this!
This is really beautiful. Many of my favourite things are tied to memories of people that I love. I always love asking my friends if they have any good book, movie, hiking, or food recommendations. People really like sharing things that they love with others. I still listen to an old, burnt CD that my roommate made for my friend group over 10 years ago. The CD is so scratched up that it skips. I can't throw it away though as it just reminds me of happy memories and people that I miss.
I have a notebook for friends' recipes. But I get them to write the recipe, so I have their handwriting, they touched that page, looked over to me as they were writing.

this is beautifully poignant and poignantly beautiful. it has made me reflect on my past and realize that i, too, am a mosaic. i still am partial to dyeing my hair shades of red because my bestie from 1st grade started dyeing hers red in 9th grade (miss clairol "sparkling sherry"), so i did, too (mama dyed it for me. BEST. MOM. EVER!), because jackie told me it looked great on me; i love sushi because a man i once loved took me to a restaurant he loved; i love rock 'n roll to this day because the 1st man i ever truly loved was the singer in a southern rock band and took me to his gigs; i still squeeze lemon in my tuna fish salad because a man i once loved told me it adds "brightness" (it DOES!) and cuts the mayo...and those are just off the top of my head. ... this entry has given me rich food for thought, as i now will sit and ponder what other aspects of my current life i owe to those who have long since passed into the far corners of my memory.
YES! Very small life piece but there was a boy in primary school I was "madly in love with" for years. 20 years later--we never dated, never even held hands, I have been over him for 18 years, he has an amazing husband (so I'm told), and all my 4 digit pins are his soccer jersey + his track jersey. 😂
This is very sweet! The boy I was "madly in love with" at primary school moved abroad (like all the kids - curse of a village school next to an RAF base). His family was posted to Belize. I remember sending him Love Hearts in the post. With the Central American drugs trade being what it was in the 1980s, I hope no fingers were pointed at his family when they received (presumably crushed) white powder in the post...

Dementia does **not** have to be a terrible experience for the person with the diagnosis. It's about others around them and their environment, all of which must be adapted to their condition and how it specifically affects them.
That doesn't determine everything. We tried to make everything as nice as possible for my grandma but in the early stages she was a horrified, anxious, and a mess. Think of it this way. Every time you open your eyes you're doing something. You've no idea what. It's in a different room than you last remember. Sometimes with different people. The people are all strangers. Because your son never looked like that. The last time you remember him he was 20 y/o and fit. And your daughter, for sure, does not have a child. Over and over all day long. In the later stages they become more calm.
Load More Replies...Nope, not crying. Not crying at all. Dementia is such a cruel disease (for the person diagnosed and their family) so I am so glad that these two women found one another.

Endless ranting, insulting, irony, and unwelcome news online can get pretty tiring. But this wholesome class of memes is optimistic and celebrates the joys in life, giving you a break from all of it. People want to be reminded of good things and to simply switch off from feeling anxious or annoyed.
It’s refreshing to see memes that have no hidden messages and are easily accessible to make you feel good. They are playful, straightforward, and so simple, which isn't what the world usually is.
It also pushes the idea that caring for ourselves and others is important. Living in a stressful era sometimes makes us forget to stop and breathe and celebrate the small victories, but a friendly reminder like this one can make all the difference.
While I aww at this one too, I don’t think dogs should be allowed to wander loose on ANY form of public transport, even if they’re allowed on said public transport. People have allergies. People have phobias or fear of dogs. A dog should never be off-leash or out of its carrier on public transport.
Incredible. I woke up this morning and my clean clothes were still in the dryer - I turned the dryer on so they’d be warm when I got dressed. Even that one tiny thing shows how lucky and privileged I am to live in a country like Canada and I definitely need to be reminded sometimes!

a place to eat, a place to sleep, some clothes to dress, we are ready :)
So true. I know I have said it in other threads but I've been to countries where these things were not a given. I've seen people scavenging from dumps, diving in a sewage filled river for coins, begging naked and filthy on the streets, handicapped people in countries that treat them as second (maybe 3rd / 4th) class citizens. So many things that most people in my country (USA) take for granted. I know poverty / need exists here as well but most Americans do not realize how spoiled they are compared to many.
Yeah. I've been living in the USA 30+ years and I'm "spoiled" to all the above things that it shocks me when I go back home to a mountain town in Puerto Rico. Ac is a luxury for most people. Hot water is for showers only and so on.

Yes! When I meet new people, one of my favourite “ice breaker” questions to ask them is “what are you a total nerd about?” Everyone’s a nerd about something :) if you’re reading this, tell me what you’re all nerdy about?

I love hearing about people's jobs and how they do whatever their thing is. One time in the 80s it was a stranger next to me on a plane. He was an engineer (scientist? don't recall which word) but his job was to try to figure out how to make disposable diapers more absorbent. Back then a 48 pack of Huggies was about the size of a hay bale. Now twice as many of the same size fits in a much smaller cardboard box. I think about him when I see them on the shelf. Might not have been him of course but people with his job figured that out. A neighbor was a hydraulic engineer. An old navy buddy is a programmer, now Chief Technical Officer in charge of the programmers. So many others - But I love hearing how things are done that I don't know how to do. People seriously into hobbies too.
Knowledge is the best thing in the world: sharing it makes you even richer.
Exactly! I am in love with learning. For example, know everything about the Japanese island of Tsushima, where to stay north & south, flights or ferries from Nagasaki or Busan, South Korea, things to do & see, people to seek out. I know about it Hojo Clan history & pushing back the mongols invasion. I know all about their history & dynasties of Asia. All because I played a video game on the topic. I’d seek out all I could find in my free time. But as much as I love seeking out knowledge, I find I learned the most from people who have different or opposing ideas and opinions than my own. Seeing their perspective on something, I fundamentally disagree with broaden my entire worldview.

Amazingly, meme viewing is proven to be beneficial in managing anxiety. It was found that creatively discussing mental health through memes can help to make social and emotional bonds with others. Some people with mental disorders feel apprehensive about verbalizing their struggles, and knowing that they're not alone can be very comforting.
Memes especially helped people when they were stuck at home during the COVID-19 pandemic. It gave people something to do and kept them relatively sane. According to research, people who looked at memes associated with the pandemic had decreased levels of COVID-related stress. Viewing memes was also connected to increased positive feelings and the ability to cope.

There is a house in my neigborhood that we pass by often and their cats like to lounge on the windowsill, so it's sort of a habit already to check out their window to see if there is a cat. One time my boyfriend was passing by and the old lady that lives there saw him looking and raised a brow, and then had an a-ha moment and held up one of the cats.

The rising positive outlook online also gave way to the appearance of wholesome internet trolls. It’s the noble kind of pranking when internet users take over discriminating subreddit pages and turn them into something sweet.
R/RaceRealism used to be a toxic place where white supremacist beliefs were shared, but activist trolls have flooded it with posts of actual car races. At the moment, discussions on this page focus on whether Formula 1 is the “superior” race and if it makes someone a “race traitor” to enjoy cycling.
One of the biggest victories of wholesome internet trolls was the reclamation of r/Stormfront, Reddit’s oldest neo-Nazi forum. Now, it’s dedicated to discussions about the weather.
How do they do it, you ask? Well, once a subreddit with discriminating content has been identified, the sneaky do-gooders check to see if its moderators are still active. If they have been inactive for long enough, anyone can take over by requesting the page’s rights. They simply wait it out and strike when they see a great opportunity to do some good on the Internet.
So polite to ask, and to wait for a reply as well.

I really struggled with Maths, I used to do this at school and it was so appreciated by my Maths teacher, plus I then got the help I needed ( Turns out I am numerically dyslexic)
When I was a teacher, I'd say to each class "If you are having trouble with anything, remember that I'm here for you." It always made them comfortable with asking for help.
When I was younger, my dad used to correct my homework before I turned it in the next day. Bu he was stricter than teachers sometimes! it came to an age that I refused correction, and i made mistakes, yes, but it was 100 % better this way. Some teachers were kind like this one, and that is what I needed to learn make my own mistakes and some kindness from the teachers.
When one of mine had trouble with homework and my husband nor I could help, we'd tell them no good teacher would penalize them for leaving it blank, not if they asked for help. So far, not one of their teachers have.
All teachers need to take lessons from.this teacher I struggled really bad throughout school. And instead of helping me privately, I'd be called to the blackboard to do what I couldn't do as the homework assignment so the whole class could see how stupid I was And my parents wondered why I dropped out as soon as I tuned 18, 4 months before graduation I didn't understand what was being taught, i was never tested for pear ingredients disabilities, I was told 8 was stupid, smacked up the back of my head when I didn't get homework right that my mom was helping me with at home. My tea hers I swear singled me out to make me feel even worse...the lost goes on. Now I have my high school diploma 😊 I got.it 4yrs after I dropped out and my step mother encouraged and supported me and my father.
the way she calls her kids her babies <3 my teacher acts like we're her kids, and its so sweet. (some things she does: helped us do our hair for picture day, let us dye our hair in class on crazy hair day, gives chocolates to girls on their periods, gives cup of noodles to kids who don't have food, etc)
Wholesomeness truly brought about a cultural shift in mood. However, just a few years ago, it wasn’t as inspirational. In the ‘90s and '00s, wholesomeness was associated with family values and decency. It was quite a dated outlook that pressured girls to adhere to Christian purity. Wholesome was “The Little House on the Prairie,” and a mother vacuuming in high heels and pearls.
By the late '00s, it started picking up new connotations and cutting its ties with the religious emphasis. In 2014, Honey Maid released a commercial that celebrated the diversity of all wholesome families. A collection of heartfelt moments brought real stories to life to show the world what wholesomeness really looks like. It included American same-sex couples, blended, immigrant, and biracial families. The idea of wholesomeness became one of friendliness, warmth, and support.

After those new connotations started being accepted, it shortly became fashionable as a contrary response to the not-so-kind online movement “Gamergate”. It was a year-long online harassment campaign against feminism, diversity, and progress in video game culture. They tried to target anyone they believed was pushing social justice into video games. At the time, the internet became more than a little toxic, and wholesomeness became an inviting escape.
Since then, wholesome content has continuously grown in popularity and even begun to be appreciated by Gen Z. It became a sort of compliment to anything that is sincere, nice, or cute. That’s how Pedro Pascal, a kitten riding on a dog’s back, and elderly people playing board games became wholesome.

I'm collecting it. The bills are in good shape too. My guess is some outdoor cafe where someone would leave a tip. The 'kids' really like raisins. We are several generations in now, so it is a family tradition of theirs I guess. We have doves and crows and ravens participating. The doves stick to twigs and pebbles. Crows and ravens are smart and seems to enjoy the exchange. They'll sit and 'talk' to us. If only I could talk crow.
I don't want to put a damper on this one but processed ham has very hi content of phosphate salts and in the long run can affect the kidneys.
Exactly. My old boy has low kidney functions so we share saltine crackers once in a while. He sure loves them.
Load More Replies...I'm so sorry 🧡 I've lost three cats in my life (2 in the same year, one a couple years before) and it hit me hard.
Load More Replies...ah yes I do this all the time with meat and cheese. one for my sandwich, one for the doggo and then I also save some from my sandwich so when I'm done eating he gets more snacks
This is exactly what I do with my puppers, also with cheese😂 Edit- The cats are now getting involved with the cheese as well if they can steal a small piece they do😂😂😂
My favourite one that I have seen was called Never Again II.
Load More Replies...I remember seeing a boat named “Knot for Sail”. It was for sale XD
A friend of mine lived on a canal narrow boat for years. His first was called Morning Glory, and his second was Morning Thunder. I thought these were really sweet names, until he told me what they meant (I was obviously very naive, but Morning Glory is male excitement of the penile type, and Morning Thunder means flatulence)
There was a gorgeous sailboat moored near my dad's when I was growing up named "Sailbad the Sinner." I loved that boat! Still remember its name 35 years later. 😁
My local marina has "Cod Father" and "Cod Father II"
Load More Replies...there was a tweet suggesting Shaq name his yacht, "Free Throw" as he rarely sinks one
luckily the other guy was too and could accommodate the request.
Load More Replies...As with any airplane ride, it's the take-offs and landings that are the most dangerous.
Is this what they call "weight training"? Bro on the bottom is getting quite a workout. (Can't believe I just wrote that.)
anyone else find this kind of weird to ask someone they don't know? (If it was a friend, sure,)
I would imagine the man made a jokey comment rather than a request, and the dad just was feeling in a silly mood and surprised him by saying "go on then"
Load More Replies...That's what I've been - I say, that's what I've been telling you!
Load More Replies...Be sure that you really, REALLY like hearing a rooster crow at "butt crack of dawn" early. I owned a rooster - ONCE.
Never mind the butt crack of dawn ours would crow in the middle of the night
Load More Replies...Yep, that's our Oliver, a speckled sussex. He protects from threats and predators, he jumps in if the hens get in a fight and separates them, he finds all the best bugs and calls the hens over and he takes treats and offers them to the hens before keeping any for himself. We are in awe over Oliver! Great rooster.
It's true! We had some hens who were jerks, bullying the more timid hens off of food and even water. Our roo got in there and would be sure all hens had access to resources. We ended up having to separate the hens into two groups to be sure they got what they needed, but watching a young roo face off a hen twice his size(she was a brahma) to defend another hen was crazy.
Load More Replies...Roosters are delicious, cooked for a long time in red wine. Coq au vin, yumm!
Roosters can't write. They hire press agents to come up with this stuff.
My rooster, hulk, used to attack me every single day and I mean every single day, so I guess being the meanest rooster alive was his "Personality".
That’s impossible! 1994 is like ten years ago. These photos would actually have to be something like, I dunno, more than 20 years apart for this to make sense.
So funny... 23 years to be exact. I get it, though!
Load More Replies...Both are very handsome, I do prefer the older suit, though. Longer, square hem(?), MUCH wider and longer lapel. Looser cut, nice.
Load More Replies...SO RELATABLE! One time the little dog came up next to me on a sofa and I had been just stroking / massaging it for a while when I see this lady nudge the lady next to her and point at me. I thought maybe I did something wrong. They explained they were just surprised because the dog does not let strangers pet it. I'd like to pretend I'm some sort of 'dog whisperer' but maybe that dog is a 'people whisperer' and knew I needed a distraction. :)
Yep. Was at an coworker get-together at a colleague's house. I like my coworkers, but the only reason I went is to hang out with the dogs.
what danger noodle all I see is snek (edit: i just realized I forgot what joke i was trying to write lol, I was gonna say "what danger noodle all I see is candy corn")
Load More Replies...I like candy corn, for some ridiculous reason, but I don't think I'd enjoy the chewy version.
I don't think they pay attention to anything we ask for. They'll probably keep posting the s**t that gets negative votes.
Load More Replies...A great post with no in-depth examination of disfunctional families or he said/ she said discussions - keep it up.
Or “funny” mental heath memes that just end up making me feel so much worse.
Load More Replies...Well, I don't have any wholesome photos to share, so instead I'll *tell* you something wholesome. There's a nice grassy area outside my workplace, and every evening when I leave for the day there's this one rabbit who's always there in the exact same spot right outside, nibbling away. I've named him Mr Bun Bun and seeing him is a nice little highlight of my day. This evening as I was leaving, he now had a friend with him. So I named her Mrs Bun Bun.
Wholesome stuff - what a great idea. Those stories about how people got revenge on others who seemed "entitled" are so nasty; the videos of people rescuing animals always make me feel like humanity isn't totally depraved, that the nasties just need inspiration to bring out the good in themselves.
