Nancy Le Vine is a senior dog photographer who believes old canines should be celebrated in all their dignity, wisdom and unconditional love. Today the woman is travelling through the States, taking photos of senior dogs and sharing their stories with the world...
It all started when two of Le Vine's dogs, Lulu and Maxie, passed away back in 2006. Being a photographer, she couldn't think of a better way to honor their loving memory than to take a camera and start taking pics of old doggies who were still around.
To understand the intimate relationship New York-based Le Vine builds with senior dogs, just see how she talks about a shot with one of her dogs, Babe. "Babe was my very best friend. A very, very old soul. Never needed a leash... [She] began my passion for looking deeper into the eyes of a dog with my camera."
"I miss her so much even though so much time has past. She lingers with me forever." While some of the Le Vine's beloved dogs are not around any longer, their loving memory - and beautiful pictures - talk about the profound mark they left on their owner's life.

22 years Is a very long life even for a small dog. I do not want to compare to humans but whoever owns -has a friend, rather- for do many years is going to have a difficult time trying to fill that gap after Ratzoe passes away.

As Sadie days 9years is old for big dogs. They usually live up the age 10 with exceptions of course. Smaller dogs live much longer.

Nancy, I love your pictures but it pities me terribly to see them age. They become more dependent and frail. Still beautiful and loyal; no denial in that. But sad all the same.

So many good boys and good girls, my own dog is 10 and he has started to show signs of slowing down etc but he knows he will have all the love in the world until the day he is no longer with us. I know it will happen one day but i get a deep feeling in my stomach and my heart when i even think about him not being here anymore, i try to make every day he has as special and loving as the day i got him.

all those dogs are so cute, but the photos stopped being from nancy levine half way thru. I just love how she can get so much emotion in her photography and I wish she would photograph every pup that was submitted
