By now, you're probably familiar with the term nice guy. Online, it usually means a male who is unassertive, fails to express his true feelings and intentions, and when dating, he'll dishonestly use acts of friendship and basic social etiquette in the sole hope that his effort will progress to a romantic or sexual relationship. They're the self-proclaimed gentlemen of the internet.
But this — let's call it personality type — isn't exclusive to men. Women can possess it too. And nothing proves it's universal nature better than the subreddit r/NiceGirls. This online community has 804K members, and they're constantly sharing chat logs, social media posts, and other forms of content where questionable ladies reveal their true colors.
From those who forbid their boyfriend to buy stuff from female sellers to the ones that cheat on their partners whenever they find someone taller, here's to thinking that you deserve the world.

Bored Panda managed to get in touch with the moderators of r/NiceGirls one more time, and they were again kind enough to have a little chat with us. After all, looking after such a big subreddit requires its fair share of time and energy.
"We have to do a lot of sifting through the content," the mod team said. "The main issues that we normally have are people who do not censor their content and dox the subjects of their images, be it from being lazy and not reading the subreddit rules or being spiteful."
Derived from the term "dropping docs," doxing is the act of revealing someone's personal information online. People can then harass, threaten, or even somehow get revenge on these individuals. The mods are doing everything they can to make sure this doesn't happen.

Out of all the reasons why women end up featured on the subreddit, the moderators think that having double standards is probably the most common one. "Another humorous classic is the 'Well, I was joking, I have a boyfriend' excuse," they added.
However, there's plenty to choose from. As the subreddit's 'About' section reads, it is waiting for all women who complain that "guys are only interested in sluts." For all who hold others to the highest possible standard but have no standards for themselves.
"We welcome content that is definitely worth posting in the r/NiceGirls subreddit as long as appropriate and genuine efforts are made to censor the subject's identity," the mods highlighted. "We do not permit doxing nor do we encourage doxing. We want to enjoy and laugh at a subject's ignorant posts or actions, and not bring negative attention to a subject themselves."

We've talked a lot about the similarities or nice guys and nice girls, but what about the differences? "In some of our experiences, the former are creepier than the latter, though this viewpoint is always subjective and there are exceptions to it," one of the mods said.
"As a woman, I've never heard of a self-proclaimed nice girl turning violent," another added. "However, most women I've known have met at least one self-proclaimed nice guy that made them genuinely fear for their safety. Which is not to say that women don't have the potential to be dangerous, or aren't dangerous-but I personally have not heard of a woman stalking a man and committing acts of violence because he spurned her advances."
And she definitely has a point. According to research, while males and females tend to display similar levels of indirect aggression (for example, spreading rumors to hurt someone’s reputation, men are way more likely to express their aggression directly through physical violence or verbal abuse. Global statistics on crime support this notion as men are responsible for the vast majority of violence across the world.
So while there may be a somewhat equal number of nice guys and girls, the first will probably act out on their impulses more.

It sounds like they had pretty ill-defined boundaries ( sleeping together, being together 24/7) and now he is changing the rules. And of course she cares he is dating and unfortunately it is common for people who get in relationships to neglect friends. I think likely the whole situation was a mess to begin with ( see poorly defined boundaries) but I don't think he is blameless in this.

It sounds like they had a physical relationship to start with, she caught feelings, he didn’t…they were best friends as well. So, I get why this girl feels so, so discarded and used but this is why BOUNDARIES and COMMUNICATION are so important, it’s going to save you a world of hurt. I feel sorry for her but she’s so deep in the hole of resentment and has gone so long without saying anything, bringing it up now is just going to sound completely out of left field and wild. I hope she finds someone who she is more comfortable being open and honest with. I know this is a ‘nice girls’ post but this one is just sad.

If I was the girlfriend here, and things were getting serious, having her around in any way would be a deal breaker after that. Years ago I had something similar. The girl didn't want him as such, but she was jealous he was with me and wanted the attention. Nearly broke us up until he cut her off completely.

My uncle is, in the loosest sense of the word, a singer. He has a song called "Mr. Right", telling the story of a man and his best friend, a woman. After every failed relationship of the woman's, the man would comfort her and be there to help her. And at the end of the song, the woman realizes that she was supposed to be with him the whole time. That he is her "Mr. Right". I liked the song when I was little, but it just comes off as so creepy now.

This was just a minefield of broken people who are trying to find a partner with no idea how to actually be a partner not a controlling abuser or a willing victim. This is why mental health is so important they should do yearly check ups like physical exams
