35 Unforgettable Dog Before-And-After Transformations That Show The Power Of Compassion
For 24 years, The Pit’s Ales NGO in São Paulo, Brazil, has been a lifeline for some of the most misunderstood and mistreated dogs—especially pit bulls. Founded and led by animal advocate Alessandro Desco, the organization has devoted itself primarily to rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming pit bulls, who are all too often victims of abuse, neglect, and deep-rooted public bias.
Operating under immense financial strain and ongoing societal stigma, The Pit’s Ales has succeeded in giving over 600 pit bulls a second chance at life. Yet their compassion extends beyond one breed. Over the years, Desco and his small, tireless team have also opened their arms to dogs of all kinds—those abandoned, broken, or forgotten—providing each with the care and dignity they deserve.

Thank you very much to the people who save these doggo. I was gonna say how could someone do this to a dog, then I thought about how some people do worse to other people.
In this article, we invite you to witness some of the most extraordinary and heart-stirring before-and-after transformations—powerful stories of dogs rescued from the depths of suffering and brought back to life through unwavering compassion, patience, and love.
Each journey is a testament to resilience, to the unbreakable bond between humans and animals, and to the belief that no matter how broken a beginning may seem, every dog deserves a chance at a beautiful, dignified future.
I didn't even see it over the ribs until I read your comment.

I agree. My friend's father used to breed Great Danes and always had their ears cropped. He insisted it was a breed standard and no one would buy them with uncropped ears. My friend talked his dad into trying it just to see, and the demand for his Great Danes almost doubled within two years!
Load More Replies...Wow, that's a megawatt smile! 😀 It's the eyes that always get to me; look at the difference, before to after.
This one reminds me of my Belle. She looked just like the before picture, and even had a broken tail. She's a lighter brown color, though. Now she's 65 lbs of love and joy, getting into her older years, and my heart hurts knowing she will leave us soon, a brain tumor. I hope that each one of you who reads this post will try to one day save a little one, give them love and happiness, and treasure them.
Or donate directly to a local shelter, ether $, bedding, treats, toys. Just contact them and ask what they need.
Load More Replies...so many people abuse pit bulls for absolutely zero reason... they're great dogs and do not deserve any of these pictures.
It's heartbreaking that these beautiful babies were ever left like this in the first place 😭
Just be appreciative of rescues. Looks like a dog fight ring rescue. Poor baby has healed up.
Load More Replies...And on the left we see Kris Jenner right after her recent face lift surgery….. Just kidding! The dog is much prettier and has a soul.
He's pretty dapper, will probably be on Best Dressed list! 😊

Load More Replies...Some unscrupulous people use used engine oil as a flea repellant. Either that or he was in a house fire and got covered in soot.
Load More Replies...The guy in this pic must do a lot of rescue work. He’s in several of these posts. Thank you sir for all your kind work. Some angels wear baseball caps 🥰
Ooooor.... (plot twist) ...... he's abusing all the dogs and they are being rescued from him.
Load More Replies...Upvote for the rescue. Pictures might not be the same dog but they were rescued, nonetheless.
The people who took care of these dogs, are awesome and deserve awards and good karma. The people who neglected these dogs deserve to burn in hell, or a lifetime of bad karma.
Listen, if I bring my Louisville Slugger, we can take turns teaching those animal abusing mother f*****s a good lesson. Are you in?
Load More Replies...You can see it in all the dogs' eyes. The question "What did I do wrong?" and it's heartbreaking. I'm not actually "built close to the water", I don't cry at sad movie scenes, etc., don't cry much in general. But looking into these sad dogs' eyes (even just in photos) ... I burst into tears.
[Could only make] it to #3, heartbreaking before-pics! Glad they're doing better now though!
May every person who helped bring these poor dogs back to life, and health and happiness know incredible good fortune and nonstop happiness.
All these poor little babies 😞. Their ex-owners need to be dragged behind a truck, and starved.
It may be because pitties are commonly used for fighting, and then left to die. How very sad.
Load More Replies...For almost 25 years we have hosted an animal-facilitated farm-based program for at-risk kids. Part of that program involves taking dogs from local rescues and rehabbing them so they may find forever homes. I've seen a lot of very sad animals come into our place and leave as healthy and balanced pets that become beloved members of families. One of the dogs I kept is Kipper, a Pit Bull. He came to me as a victim of a d**g house where he was very badly abused. He is mostly blind and has only 3 legs because of that abuse. He weighed less than 20lbs when he came, which placed him into the "how did he survive" category of malnourished. He was scared of everything and would sit and tremble constantly. Today he is a healthy, confident and very kind dog. He adores everyone, is wonderful with kids, adults, other dogs, cats, and everything else. Despite his blindness, he runs around our farm with no issues and is simply a great dog. I see him as a gift sent to me.
