While not everyone is cut out to be a doctor, millions of people around the world are happy to live vicariously through the lives of doctors and nurses by binge-watching medical dramas. “Grey’s Anatomy” has clocked over 3.2 billion hours of streaming time globally. Let’s not forget the popularity of “House”, “ER”, “Scrubs”, and “The Good Doctor”.
Viewers stay hooked, even if some parts make them want to look away. Watching medical science in action can be intriguing, and at the same time, disturbing. If you get sucked into hospital shows and are fascinated with the workings of the human body, keep scrolling.
Bored Panda has scoured the depths of the internet to compile a list of really interesting photos of the human body. From extreme close-ups of skin, to the effects of chemotherapy on nails, burns, bruises and even eye transplants... There's something here for anyone who has a morbid fascination with health and healing.

I Had A Brain Tumor Removed, And Now I’m A Bit Absent Minded
Because of a brain tumor, I have a gap on my scans where my pituitary gland used to be.
My sister had one removed, right in the middle of the hemispheres near where all our senses are. She can't smell...but she's alive. What "could have' happened was a long list from nothing, bkindness, memory lose, personality change, stroke, to death Very grateful we still have her, as her. I hope the op is living a wonderful life.
I've got a "hole" about the same size as that in my brain. It's amazing how other parts of the brain take up the tasks of the dead cells.
Uncle's Eye Healed After Corneal Transplant Surgery
Whoa! I used to work in that industry but have never seen this kind of image/result.
Mum had both eyes done, nothing like this happened. Also, she must have had the neatest seamstress in the industry because every picture I see is of big very obvious stitches and hers were teensy almost invisible ones.
Load More Replies...Medical dramas have become hugely popular over the years. Maybe we like watching someone else’s pain and suffering. Maybe we see doctors as superheroes. Or maybe we get a kick out of witnessing chaotic scenes play out in an operating theater. At least one doctor believes it’s because we have a morbid fascination with nature.
In particular, “our own amazing bodies, and all the things that can go wrong, but that are thankfully not going wrong for us in the moment" said Dr. Marian Rissenberg during an interview with Bustle. Rissenberg is a New York-based clinical neuropsychologist.
"I imagine that on some subconscious level, we cannot help but be intrigued at seeing something so socially unacceptable and morbid," said emergency medicine technician, Dr. Sonia Shah.

I also had cancer (2nd time, black) and hadthe same transplant in this area (it is now in my mouth) But my wound was stitched up and looks better from the start. It has healed very well so far and soon you will only see the outline of the scar
Wow.. that looks painful but fascinating all at the same time, I have a good feeling about this, 👌👍🫂💜
Before And After I Wear My Fake Eye
I have a friend with a fake eye. His also has "fun" fake eyes. His natural eye color is brown so he has a fake one to match, but he also has a green one and one that looks like a cat eye, snake eye and other designs.
They've really come a long way with eye prosthetics!! It's practically a perfect match!
My husband has a fake eye. He had to get one eye removed after an injury. Those were some painful months.
The Seventeen Stitches Left In My Eye While It Recovers From Corneal Transplant Surgery
It amazes me that we can do these procedures...like look how far we've advanced.
not everywhere: The liver, you see, is a large, ugly mystery to us. If you've ever eaten liver you know what I mean. We're pretty sure today that the liver exists and we have a fairly good idea of what it does whenever it's doing what it's supposed to be doing. Beyond that, we're really in the dark.
Load More Replies...That's really awesome, thanks for sharing it with us, I never realised that they would use stitches like this, they look quite big, but maybe it's because the photo is close up.. That explains (a little bit) another picture of one of these procedures after healing
And those stitches never need to be removed. (Unless one breaks, or something)
The Difference Three Months Of Hardcore Chemotherapy Makes!
OP's last post/comment on Reddit was 3 years ago. OP said they were diagnosed with Desmoplastic Small Round Cell Tumor, which has a 15% 5-year survival rate. I wish I knew that they were okay and that they made it. Maybe they just changed their username :(
Unfortunately the the cancer they had and the small survival rate isn’t a positive sign given how long it’s been since they posted :-(.. / my mum worked in day oncology and oncology wards for nearly 30 years,

Bruise Progression
From OP: I was sitting on the couch, holding my sick one year old and he started throwing up. I stood up to get away from the couch and slipped on the puke. We both went crashing down to the floor and I whacked my arm on the metal baby gate. I mostly managed to keep baby from hitting the floor too hard. He was still throwing up while we sat in the floor in shock together….it was quite the scene. Everyone is okay now!
Ooh, such a pretty array of colors! Your bruising may have nice colors but oh my goodness, it MUST have hurt for quite a while! 😩🥺
I don't mean to be nosey, but however did you get that monster of an injury..?
I had that happen to me . Medication I was on caused me to bruise that severely took 5 months to disappear.
My Nails Pushing The Chemo Out Of My Fingertips
I have a cousin who has dealt with psoriasis for a number of years. Changing her diet helped, but it went away completely when she was diagnosed with cancer and started chemo.
The first line treatment for psoriasis is methotrexate, a cancer d**g.
Load More Replies...I almost lost 2 of my toenails after chemo. Didn't know that was a thing until it happened 😳
Fingernails are sort of like tree rings. It's 3 months from nailbed to fingertip, so this patient last had chemo about 6 weeks prior. When I'd see patients treated with radioactive iodine for hyperthyroidism, I could tell them how long it was since the treatment. RAIRx (radioactive iodine treatment) causes a sharply-demarkated line.

The Bruising I Had From A Recent Wisdom Tooth Extraction
Stars above, that’s alarming. Anybody know why that may be? Nerves? Just the tools the dentists would have used?
Subcutaneous bleeding that forms a bruise and then slides down the neck from the jaw. I mean, if they have to pry roughly to get the tooth out of your jaw, you're gonna have one heck of a bruise. It's a wound, after all. This one's pretty bad though.
Load More Replies...Two of my four wisdom teeth had to be chipped out and the other two put up a hell of a fight. I was so swollen and bruised we had to crush up the pain pills because I couldn't open my jaw wide enough to fit them past my teeth for three days. My mom wouldn't let me leave the house for days because she was terrified someone was going to call CPS on her (I was 16 at the time).
Good Lord they were either really rough with you or they had a hard time getting the tooth out of you bruise easily.
That's really bad, but considering how deep the roots are and how big they have to grow I guess it's about right..
I bruise easily so I'm expecting something like this when I get my wisdom teeth pulled next month. It happens.
i had all four of mine removed at the same time and i had no bruising, this is incredible!
My Finger After Getting It Stuck In A Car Door
This should have been a hospital visit. I've done this. What they do is take a heated element to put a hole in the nail so that the blood can escape. Relieves the pressure and would have wound up being a lot less painful for you.
I had the same thought and took a closer look. there is a hole in the nail but it was apparently ineffective

At least you aren’t a politician. Those brain surgery scars would be on your butt.
My Invisible (White) Tattoo Is Currently Visible

This was the result of having an arterial line inserted so they could monitor my blood pressure during surgery.

'stretched' Freckles On My Surgery Scar
When My Son Was Born He Had A Knot In His Umbilical Cord
So so very lucky that it didn't tighten or it would have cut off the child's oxygen during birth
Obviously the user "Somebody's grandmother" has never known a woman that had a stillborn baby.
Load More Replies...Reminds me of that "I can tie a knot with my tongue" ...just like "wanna see what I can do with my uterus?"
My second child had two (!) real knots in his umbilical cord. Midwife insisted on CTG throughout the whole birth and showed us afterwards that heartbeat dropped to almost 0 during contraction. At one point, they were in a hurry to get him out with vacuum extractor and three people pushing on my belly. Everything went well, luckily (thank God for modern medicine and hospitals). Third kid had (only, haha) one knot in his umbilical cord. We tell them that they obviously loved to swim while there was enough space. Fun fact: kid one was breech baby, C-section for safety's sake--I asked the doc afterwards if there was anything visible that would have meant danger (as some say..."sometimes there's a reason"). There wasn't.
So what youre saying is your children like to make an entrance and try to one up eac hother?
Load More Replies...Apparently i was born with like this but wrapped around my neck, was dark purple and a little brain issues 🙄🤦🏼♀️
My second daughter was born the same. She was very congested in the face (midwives words), and had to go to NICU to be checked over as she needed to be resuscitated at birth. All very terrifying and traumatic. She is now 28, and bar dyslexia and eye issues, happy and healthy.
Load More Replies...My son also had a knot in his umbilical cord. With each contraction, his hear rate would drop. Luckily, my doctor was able to get him out quickly and without a C-section. He was a small kid but healthy overall and now in his 30s.
Had A Nail Run Through My Eye. They Stretched My Pupil Over The Hole And Stitched It Up
That's BS. The pupil IS a hole. What's happening here is a coloboma. This person was most likely born this way, missing a portion of the iris (colored part of eye). Then BP or someone else found this image and made up a fake, stupid title.
If they made it up they really committed to it, there's all kinds of details about the injury in the Reddit comments
Load More Replies...A friend in junior high decades ago had a fishhook caught in her pupil with the same aftereffect. Was kind of cool looking. At least to all us tweens at the time.
Burnt My Hand With An Iron At Age 1.5 This Is My Hand Almost 14 Years Later. Yes That Is Hair On My Hand
Well upside I guess you could make lots of ‘Marty’s fun private time’ jokes. As a burn survivor myself, this kind of skin graft must be a pain in the bum to manage
Any US law student or lawyer should remember the case of Hawkins vs. McGee. It is a standard-setting case in the area of contract law and how to determine damages. A man who had severely burned his hand went to a doctor who knew very little about skin grafts, but promised the man "a 100% good hand" after the procedure. Sparing the gruesome details, suffice to say that it was a VERY botched skin graft. Since the harvested skin came from the patient's chest, the intact follicles continued to grow hair on the now-disabled hand. Generations of lawyers and law students know this as "The Hairy Hand Case." This was in the 1920s and truth be told, although he won the case, the plaintiff got royally EFFED on damages.
It’s not just Sweden, bud. I have come to believe most cultures tell their kids not to touch their toys lest they grow hair on their palms.

Cervical Fusion Surgery Scar 2 Weeks Post Op
Snap! I also have a cervical fusion scar on my neck. Hope all went well with your op.
My mom has one of these that goes from her shoulders to her butt crack. Most of her spine is fused due to severe scoliosis that wasn't treated when she was a child.
Spinal fusion? My sister had the same surgery about 15 years ago to fix her severe scoliosis. Recovery was rough for a few months, but she grew 2 inches after.
Load More Replies...They did my cervical fusion anteriorly (from the front). Looked like I survived a throat slashing. And I lost 1 inch in height.
I had a posterior and anterior fusion the first time and then an anterior fusion for the 2nd op, I also look like I've been slashed.
Load More Replies...Ouchie!! I'm hoping I never need a spinal fusion but I'm afraid there's one in my future.
I’m waiting a year I to my wait list for a cervical fusion surgery, I’m not sure if it’s the same type of reason for them to need their surgery but I have to have 2-3 vertebrae replaced with some titanium ones 😫 but they’re going through the front of my neck, through the larynx.. for now I’ve been having to live off extremely strong pain meds that doesn’t do anything some days, and it’s left me with no feeling at all in my thumb… I wish they would just hurry and help me already I can’t even think on these stupid meds 😢

Blood From A Vein(Top Bag) And Blood From An Artery(Bottom Bag). Your Blood Is Just Darker With No Oxygen In It, Not Blue
The modern belief that blood is blue before it comes in contact with o2 comes from how medical texts diagram the circulatory system, the effluent blood that goes to the cells for oxygen are transported by veins they are diagramed as red, the influent blood that has offloaded its o2 is taken back to the lungs in arteries they are diagramed as blue. So people have seen that for decades and it just kinda became "common knowledge"
I believe it's because the arteries look blue through the skin (such as inside your wrist). Edit: this reply was intended for Huddo's sister's question.
Load More Replies...Where did this idea of blue blood come from? I never heard anyone talk about/believe it in Australia
In olden times in the UK the peasants tended to work outside (gardeners, farming, etc) so they were tanned, whereas rich people stayed inside and had lily white skin which showed the veins. Hence, upper classes had “blue blood”.

Something Interesting : I Got An Eye Injury 6 Years Ago That Left My Right Eye Blue Now Instead Of The Original Brown!
From OP on Reddit: "So a quick overview is that I was hit in the eye with a tree branch and have had 6 surgeries on it so far. My pupil does not adjust anymore so it always looks like it’s extremely dilated and my iris peeled up and is no longer brown but is showing the blue underneath. Also, I no longer have a lens in that eye!" When asked if OP can see out of that eye: "Without a contact, nope nothing, with a contact at power 15 I can see blurred images... like the outline of my hand if it’s close to my face." When asked about their depth perception: "At first it was pretty difficult but I can still take in sunlight and my brain adjusted quite well. I honestly can’t even tell a difference anymore after so many years, unless I close my left eye."
All eyes are blue "underneath". There's a laser surgery avail to remove brown pigment and have perm blue eyes.
David Bowie got hit in his has kid and that's why he had one blue eye
It wasn't heterchromia--it was anisocoria, one pupil larger than the other. It just had that effect upon his eyes.
Load More Replies...David Bowie had a similar thing happen. He was fighting with his best friend at the time over a girl and he got punched in the eye, it left him with two different colour eyes..
Thought You All Might Appreciate My Uncommon Stitches
Because I needed to know, even though the image made my spine quiver - from OP on Reddit: "Broken glass at work sliced and separated the front of my thumb from my thumbnail (I'm a bartender) And the Doc decided the best way to fix it would be to sow my thumb right back onto my nail lol. Didn't even know that was a possibility (expected it to be glued) or I probably would've forgone the hospital all together."
At that point why didn't they remove the nail and let it grow back? Weird.

Same but no super glue was involved. The tip of my finger is still smooth and a lighter shade then the rest.
Load More Replies...Oh I did this when we were making sauerkraut in my Babcia's basement one year! 30 gallons of kapusta, with a big wooden mandolin, and we'd pound it down with a wooden hewn log on a stick, sprinkled with salt. I must have been 12, sliced the top of my middle finger off into the kraut, just about fainted. LOL! Babcia fished out the finger tip, and had me go sit outside.
My right middle finger currently looks like this; after my daughter put a broken bowl in the dishes cupboard. I was not amused.
I did that only mine was a cleaner cut I. was so surprised it grew back perfectly normal and no scarring because it was my right index. Btw after we cleaned me and everything up my husband insisted he could finish the veggies and did the same darn thing, just not as severe. He promptly chucked that thing in the trash😂
GAHHH! I've sliced more than my share of fingers/bits off. Interestingly when I sliced the entire tip of one finger, and most of the bit down the bone on the palm side, it grew back like a normal finger. I do have a weird sensitive scar, but the end of my finger even grew back like the normal fingertip. I didn't expect that. I thought it would just be flat/stubby. Bodies are weirdly amazing. The fingernail does grow, just very, very thin and it tears easily, but I have a fingernail.
I cut a fingertip almost all the way off a few years ago - through the fingernail and all. Cleaned it very well, taped it back in place and it stayed on. Lopsided but serviceable.
Ugh! Those things should be banned forever. My wife lost two finger tips and never regained feeling in them again.
Scar From Carotid Artery Surgery
My husband had the same surgery. His scar is practically invisable!
It sounds like a horrific thing to have to go through and I hope the OP is doing well........but I think their surgeon did not do such a good job on the stitchery.
How Chemotherapy Affect Nails
A friend of mine had kidney cancer, after it was removed she told me that she had weird ridges on her fingernails for quite a long time. After the cancer was gone those ridges disappeared. Some years later I developed a huge ridge on a toenail. It was like the whole nail was wavy. I remember showing it to her in the swimming pool. Turns out I had uterine cancer, but very early stage. After the surgery my nails are normal again. Maybe it was a weird coincidence, but if you develop strange ridges across your nails, maybe go to the doctor.
I have ridges on my nails when I have anaemia, too. It's not specific of a disease but a good warning that something is off.
Load More Replies...I recently had a heart transplant (eternal thanks to my donor!). The amount of pills/IV I received was mind boggling. 6 months out, I am still taking 30+ pills per day for anti-rejection purposes. The amount is slowly lowering. About 2 months or so ago, I noticed ridges in the nails on each of my fingers and most of my toes. One doctor surmised it is the body getting rid of toxins.
A few years ago I got really sick to the point I think I was close to dying. Still to this day have no clue what was wrong with me. I had a fever every day for 3 months. My knees swelled up and I couldn't walk. I was in to see my doctor every other week, but we couldn't figure it out. I was tested for everything but it was all negative. After 3 months when the fever went away, I had those ridges on all my nails. Haven't had them since.
Go to your doctor, if only for peice of mind. It can happen with extreme stress, nutrient deficiency, and illness..please get it checked ❤️

My Flesh-Eating Spider Bite Turned Into A Heart-Shaped Scar
I had a bad fall that broke my pelvis in 3 places, but I also landed on my elbow. The elbow wound took about 8 months to close, and I had to have home nursing care for it (the pelvis healed much quicker!). As it shrunk and the dead tissue sloughed away, it took the shape of Alaska including the Aleutian Islands.
Wow! I had the same injuries in a bad fall / pelvis broken in 3 places and broken elbow - but I didn't get Alaska!

A Patch Of My Hair Fell Out 1.5 Years Ago And Has Grown Back Curly
I cut a neighbor’s hair nce and found clumps of straight, shiny hair, wavy hair, and wiry ethnic hair. Was blown away. He wasn’t; he was Dominican, black, and white, and told me it’s not unusual in mixed-race people. I had no idea!
My first 3 grey hairs came through together and were/are corrugated. First noticed them on my 33rd birthday. I cried. I admit, I must be a bit vain. Sorry for all the people who had chemo.
Actually, it’s a common thing. When cancer patients for example, lose all of their hair when it grows back it tends to come back wavy or curly. I lost all of my hair when I got sick after sepsis and I was severely malnutrition and anorexic and I ended up having disgusting wavy, crazy out of control hair now which I hate. I want my old hair back.

Always use the sides of your fingers!! I used to teach diabetics- the pads have too many nerve endings.
My fingers looked similar to that when I worked as a beekeeper. After developing an immunity to the venom (or whatever the technical term is) bee stings would be invisible 30 minutes after the sting, but would reappear as a tiny blood blister a day or two later, and then gradually fade away. My hands looked like they were freckled.
Don’t use that part of your finger, use the sides. ( former diabetes educator)

You Can See Where My Hair Started Growing Out White Instead Of My Natural Colour
White is your natural colour - it's just a different natural colour than the one before.
My daughter likes pulling my gray hair. She was fascinated the first time she got a half white, half brown. Hahaha
I took Chinese medicine that made my gray hairs start turning brown, mine looked the reverse to this strand.
Yep, seeing a lot of this now. However, I'm also getting the reverse - dark up by my scalp and silver farther down. Aging backward, I guess.
lol this reminds me of my blonde 2 year older than me cousin bragging she still doesn’t have any grays early 40s after she stoped getting highlights.(I’m a dark brunette and pulled my first one and saved it with the date! I earned it) I was stand next to her and said yes you do. She didn’t believe me and said pull it. She was mortified when I pulled an 8” grey and handed it to her. Her mom busted out laughing. My Skin Was So Dry It Made Patterns
Ceramides my dude, ceramides. I would exfoliate first though.
This looks like x-linked ichthyosis. My 8 yo son has it and his skin is perpetually dry. He is missing a piece of a gene that codes for an enzyme that helps dead skin slough off. So essentially the dead skin just piles up and doesn't fall off forming this scale look. It is always worse in winter. We have found that Neutrogena Hydro Boost Body Cream Gel is the only thing that actually leaves his skin moisturized for a chunk of the day. Everything else he still looks dry with in the hour. We use to slather his body in vaseline and put a full body onesie on him when he was first born (so uncomfortable seeming) and he would be so dry a minimal amount of time later.

Load More Replies...My Right Thumb Which Was Under A Cast For A Month Has Become Much Hairier Than My Left
My daughter broke her radius and ulna she needed plates and screws in her arm and wore a cast. That was 18 years ago . That arm still grows dark long hair the other arm is short light hair. It has nothing to do with it being rubbed off
And they say things don't grow in shade. Clearly I need a cast on my skull.
I didn’t even notice the hair until I read the title, I was interested in the two significantly different fingernails. Lol
One of my daughters broke her foot age age 2. Needed a cast for 12wks, then physio to learn how to walk again. I had bought her new shoes two days pre accident. One shoe still fit after, the other didn't. She still has one foot a whole size smaller than the other (now age 30 so never going to catch up).
After Ankle Day and 8 weeks in a boot, I had the same effect. Muscle wasting and no hair abrading off. Disconcerting as hell.
The Bruise On My Arm Healing After K-Tape
K-Tape doesn't "heal" muscle or joint injuries, though some people try to get you to believe it has special properties. It works as muscle/joint support and can also help with scar healing/stretching. It really sucks if OP got injured/hurt further by using it when they were probably led into believing it would help with some other issue.
Completely off. OP is an archer using a heavier poundage bow. They used the KTape to help reinforce their elbow from popping out of place, and to give a little extra padding & friction guard to the forearm to protect against the bow string. Bruise is a result of the bow string slapping the forearm. The K-tape made interesting patterns while protecting against friction damage & supporting the elbow.

Scar Changed How My Thumb Nail Grows
I got my left thumb caught in a car door when I was about 6, and the nail is double thick ever since.
Many years ago when I was a teen and taking typing class in junior high (8th grade where I went to school) my mom bought me a old used manual typewriter. It is heavy. I was carrying and dropped it on my foot/ big right toe. Damaged my toe nails. Ever since it has been twice as thick as all the other toenails. It is hard to trim or cut with a toe nail clippers. At times I had to use a utility knife to cut/trim it.
Load More Replies...I have one of those from where I jammed my finger in a drawer. I had a black nail, and a hole in the nail...it never cuts cleanly, so I use a nail file to keep it short
About six months ago I got a really bad cut on my thumb nailbed and my nail grew like this, but about a month ago it started growing back as normal. There's a clear line between the two so I can measure the rate of nail growth.
My Husband Got Scalp Edema From A Severe Sunburn
Just a reminder: if you're going bald, the skalp is very very sensitive to sunburn. Even when rest of you would be fine, you need to lotion that up or wear a hat or both
When I was younger I had really thick hair. I could go outside during the summer and wear no hat and not get sunburn on my head. Now that I am a senior citizen and my hair has thinned out, if I am outside for a length of time, my scalp/ head will get sunburned if I don't have a hat on.

A Chunk Of My Red Hair From When I Was 16 Compared To My Faded With Time Hair Now That I'm 27
This happened to me too, except my hair darkened with age instead of fading! Approx. 5-year-old Lakota vs. 42-year-old Lakota XD babykota_v...3025f7.jpg
I had platinum blonde hair when I was little, but now it's chestnut. I also had very tight curls up until a year or two ago, now it's mostly straight :)
My brother is like this too. He had orange hair as a kid, strawberry blonde hair as a teen/young adult, and now it just looks dirty blonde. I was also blonde until around age 7, when my hair turned brown. My nephew's hair did exactly the same thing.
The "faded" hair in this pic is about the color of my mom's hair now (55) she used to have dark red hair, like garnet red, so lovely
Wow my red hair has gone from strawberry blonde, to dark blonde and is now turning a brighter red with white.
My Roommate Was Born With 12 Fingers And Had Them Amputated As An Infant
When you get this surgery is it because it's necessary, or just cosmetic?
Sometimes the extra fingers are growing out at a funny angle, or the wrong shape, or don't have all the associated hand bones and tendons, so they aren't functional. If it's not a functional finger, it's just gets in the way, is injury prone, and can interfere with developing fine motor skills.

In response to some of the comments below: This is a friendly reminder that just because YOU personally don't like something, doesn't make that something intrinsically wrong. Nor does it make the person who does like it a bad person. It just means they have a different opinion than you. And guess what? THAT'S OKAY. The Time I Got Gnarly Hives All Over My Body
Good Lord. I hope you keep Benadryl in the house and Epi Pens if you need them.
I had those after a large dose of penicillin. They burned so badly and swelled up onto blisters. This poor person must be in pain.
I have been like this before and boy do I feel for this person. As far as I know I'm not allergic to anything. Probably about 6 years ago, I first broke out in just a couple hives on my lower back, for the first time ever. I got the hives shortly (less than an hour)after getting into a very emotional and stressful fight/argument, but didn't think much of it, at the time. Since that initial break out, I suffered through some very awful and painful hive break outs, over large portions of my body, most of the time. I should have invested in Hydrocortisone cream, haha, even though it didn't really help much that often. It didn't take me long to figure out that these huge, raised and extremely itchy/painful things were caused by or induced from extreme stress. I was initially prescribed an EpiPen but I no longer have one because I don't think I need it for my particular situation. I hope OP got better quickly.

An Octopus Bite Wound
Wow, I always thought that an octopus would use all its arms and suction cups as it's first line of defense, so to speak. Idk, I guess I never thought about the possibility of being bitten by an octopus while in the ocean. If I happen to disturb one somehow I thought maybe they might release ink, as a warning sign or wrap a tentacle around me, or pretty much anything other than bite. I'll have to remember that, as I frequent the ocean 3+ months out of the year. I feel like a bite would be a last resort thing and since it's on OP's hand, makes me wonder if the octopus was provoked or maybe OP picked it up because their beaks, which is what they use to bite, are inside the center of their bodies. Either way I hope OP made a full recovery.

My Toenail Grew In Extra Thick During My Pregnancy Then Abruptly Stopped Growing Thick Once I Gave Birth To My Son
Pregnancy and giving birth are both very traumatic to a woman's body!
I mean, it can be. But this isn't a result of any trauma. It's just from hormones. When a woman is pregnant, her hair and nails grow thicker and stronger. After she delivers, her hormones go back to normal, and so do her hair and nails. It's why a lot of new mothers lose a butt load of hair. Because they didn't lose any, during pregnancy. Pregnancy was the only time I could grow my brittle nails out long, lol. Granted, this is an extreme example. But still natural. Not traumatic.
