When I was a teenager my girlfriend's mother had a little poodle that was kept in a dark basement because her mom and father were divorcing and they hated each other her father wouldn't allow the dog in the house and the mother was never home. The first chance the dog had to escape out the side door he did and ran into the street and was run over. I am still haunted by that 50 years later.

It introduced the principles that would be incorporated into the teachings of Christ. Even if you don't accept it as literally true, those principles are still sound and an excellent guide for living a clean and decent life. Isn't that what we all would like to have?
