Being able to order various things online and get them delivered helps to save a lot of time. Especially being able to order some good food after a long and hard day. During the pandemic, getting things and food this way became even more convenient as people didn’t have to go anywhere and encounter others. Because of this, delivery services presented another clever solution - no-contact delivery. It was followed by a requirement by many delivery companies to take a picture of the delivery once it was brought next to a customer’s place.
This necessary step accidentally inspired a thread where people started sharing hilarious pictures taken by drivers of them picking up their delivery.

If you’re curious to find out why it is necessary for drivers to take pictures once they are about to deliver you the food, there are two reasons for that. First of all, they need to confirm it with you that they delivered the food to the right place and the right person. Sometimes food gets delivered when no one is home, or when trying to avoid contact with another person. This is also really helpful when a customer claims that they didn’t get their delivery or if the delivery was ruined or missing something.

This is what happens when you don't add any delivery details other than the address and don't answer the phone or messages when the driver tries to reach you. I have left several orders at the front door of 30 floor buildings because of this 😂

This sort of thing also happens when you provide very detailed instructions, answer their call and confirm the instructions, and they just can't be bothered to follow them.

My dog is always the first one to the door...especially after we ordered so much DoorDash during lockdown, and he was trained to think the doorbell ringing meant FOOD!

Well, at least we know it isn’t duck soup... (or Duck Soup for all of you Marx Bros fans).
It was mentioned that even when a delivery person takes someone’s picture, they usually do it by accident when a person suddenly opens the door or is even already waiting for the delivery. It was also stated that in a case when you are in the shot, this picture is not saved in the phone but rather is just in the app, sent to the customer, so they would know that their food was brought to the right person.
Some people working in this industry revealed that they sometimes don’t take the picture as proof if they bring the delivery straight into the person’s arms or see how they take it. Some users find it risky as you never know if that was the right person or if later they won’t blame you for not delivering their food.

They take pics of porch deliveries now to prove it was delivered. I don't know why they take/upload it if they see the person take the food unless they're absolutely required to. Or why people can't even wait 30 secs until the driver is gone. I like the animal ones, though.

If I had to guess, I'd say the dude in the photo is the customer and it looks like the food was left REALLY far from the door (ie near the curb which could be 20-40 feet ( about 7 to 12 meters) from the door). He doesn't look too happy.

Or lack of childcare. The kid sits in the car all day, as mom or dad drives deliveries. The kid gets bored and starts helping. When I was a kid and there wasn't anyone available to watch my sister and I, we would go to work with mom at the hospital. There's only so much homework to do before we started changing sheets and emptying bed pans.

I don't really get this. The picture isn't proof that your food was delivered in most of these. It proves that for a moment it was at your door. After that picture is taken the dasher could just take to food with them, or they leave it and someone else comes along and grabs it, or an animal.... It's like when Amazon leaves a package at an apartment door. I walk by about three a week in my hallway and I think "I could take that or that or that...".

I happened to walk up to my place as an Amazon driver was dropping off a package. I went to pick it up as I greeted him and he told me to wait, he had to send a pic to prove delivery. I asked if he'd like me to pose with it and he laughed as he snapped the shot without me. Now I'm a little lowkey sad.

I have never had food delivered. It is all very well taking photos, but what if it is the wrong address? I recently had food delivered and left outside my house meant for the house across the road. Without the number of the house in shot, the photo doesn't mean much other than it was left in some random location.

Haha okay so, I don't know about other delivery apps but I know Doordash does have an option to press if the order is handed to the customer so they don't have to take a photo like most in this article. I only did this once, on my very first order, before I knew about the second button.
