My mom just asked me last night if I believe in Satan. She's constantly brining up my atheism and putting me down for it. NOT ONCE have I ever belittled or made fun of her catholic beliefs. I'll roll my eyes when she's in the other room, but I would never do it to her face. I show respect, she can't.

Same. That seems to be where a lot of people immediately go once they find out. I went to high school in a very conservative, farming community, and b/c I am very liberal and an atheist, they called me a communist devil worshiper. Smh I'm not a communist and I don't believe in the devil any more than they believe in Santa.

The most hilarious thing is that atheists embrace the “baby eating atheist” satire so completely that somewhere in the comments you will get sarcastic recipes for eating babies. I will fire off a teriyaki pineapple baby comment and soon I will hear about rotisserie baby, fried baby, baby a la mode, the list goes on and the religious pearl clutching is hilarious.

People are extremists. They think if you aren’t one thing then you MUST be the exact opposite. Not a lot of in-between or moderation.

I worked in a place where I was accuse of being an atheist (true) and a witch (which would be difficult, since atheists don't believe in Satan, so I'd have to be a non-denominational witch). Note that if you are an atheist, not only do you automatically worship the devil, but you're a communist too.

I believe in multiple gods and forces of nature. I also believe the bible is a piece of c**p. If there was a god then according to the bible he made humans then told them to not eat fruit in their own home, magically gave a woman with a boyfriend a baby without asking her, got that baby killed and doesn’t do anything about wars or plagues. You ask me gods a piece of s**t who enjoys the suffering of others (if he exists). That’s why I believe in multiple gods.

And I’m a Christian but people don’t think so when they see me because I don’t dress like it and I don’t talk about it all the time. I participate in church and go mostly every week twice a week if I can. When people hear this they think I’m a stereotype but I prove them wrong very quick. Yay for freedom of religion! Yay for individuality! Yay for happiness!

Let me explain. It works like this: If you're not on God's side you automatically belong to Satan regardless of what your beliefs are. I don't believe in you, yet here you are. :) (kidding) But seriously: You don't need to do anything actively satanic or be specifically evil, wear crosses upsidedown and black clothes or anything like that. As long as you don't worship God Jehovah, he's content.

"... like we're trying to convert the world..." Well, see, we're "converting the world" by living regular lives instead of being criminals or living in the gutter like we're supposed to. Hate is a watershed though. If someone who claims to be a christian but hates someone who doesn't believe what they believe in then they're not real christians. The Bible’s advice to “respect everyone” - regardless of their religious beliefs is what every christian should follow. "Honor men of all sorts, have love for the whole association of brothers, be in fear of God, honor the king." (1 Peter 2:17, TEV) A christian shouldn't impose their moral and religious convictions on the general community. Instead, we extend to others the same tolerance that we appreciate receiving from them. And if someone wants to know more about God and Jesus then christians should "sanctify the Christ as Lord in your hearts, always ready to make a defense before everyone who demands of you a reason for the hope you have, but doing so with a mild temper and deep respect." (1 Peter 3:15) Hate towards fellow man - regardless of religious or no religious background - do not belong in a christian's heart...
