A selfish person is the one who puts his own needs first. He's primarily concerned with himself and seeks out only those activities that fulfill his own desires and wants. Anything wrong with that? I don’t think so.
Going by that definition, we're all selfish in one way or the other. All of us want to do things that are ultimately for our own good and well-being. This type of selfishness is good and desirable.
So far so good. The problem arises when we do things for ourselves and at the same time ignore the needs of those around us or when we fulfill our needs at the expense of others. When you make life difficult for others to meet your own ends, then that kind of selfishness is the selfishness that you’d like to avoid.

There are several reasons that could make someone selfish...
A person who holds on to his resources and doesn't give it to the needy can be considered a selfish person and this is the type of selfishness that we commonly refer to when we say that someone is selfish.
When we say that someone is selfish, we usually mean that he doesn't share his resources (money, time, etc.). Now, why won’t a person share his resources, even if it's the best thing to do in a given situation?
The biggest reason is that he thinks he doesn't have enough. A selfish person, therefore, is also likely to be stingy. This insecurity of not having enough motivates a person to hold on to his resources and not share them.

People who do this deserve to get their car damaged by the air ambulance crew and their streacher. It's probably the only way they'll learn.
Another reason is a fear of losing control. If someone has many needs and goals, then he overvalues his resources because he thinks that these resources are going to help him reach his goals. If he loses his resources, he loses his goals and if he loses his goals he feels he has lost control over his life.
For example, a student who doesn't share his study notes with others is the one who has high academic goals and sharing notes could mean losing an important resource that could help him reach his goal. And not being able to reach your goals is a perfect recipe for a feeling of loss of control over your life.
In other cases, the way a person was raised can also make him act in selfish ways. The only child or the child whose every demand was met by his parents (spoilt child) learns to take as much as he can and give very little back.
Such children learn to care only for their needs with little empathy or consideration for others. As children, we were all like that to some extent but gradually we began to learn that other people have emotions too and so developed empathy.
Some people never learn empathy and therefore remain selfish, just like when they were kids.

The most important thing to do when dealing with a selfish reason is to figure out the reason for his selfishness and then work on eliminating that reason.
All other methods and efforts of dealing with him are going to be in vain. Ask yourselves questions like...Why is he being selfish? What is he feeling so insecure about? Are you making unrealistic demands of him? Is he really in a position to meet your demands?
We are often too quick to label someone ‘selfish’ instead of admitting that we failed to persuade them or that our demands are unreasonable.
But what if they are really being selfish and you're not just falsely labeling them?
Well then, help them get rid of their insecurity. Show them that they're not going to lose anything by giving you what you want. Or better yet, show them how they may benefit by helping you if there's a possibility of a win-win situation.

as a waitress, I've truly enjoyed telling these parents to pick up their (literally) shitty child & go to the bathrooms. Then blatantly got super-strong disinfectant and cleaned the table while their companions were still there.... and had to deal with the odours of the chemicals. "But madam, I must do this, due to the Health Hazard caused by you / your friend. And no, we can't move you to another table, as they're reserved. May I get you some dessert?" :D :D :D
If not for the photo, I wouldn't believe somebody could be that stupid or disrespectful.

There's a lot of places that don't really have nappy chancing facilities but honestly if you have a pram/buggy just do it on it. If not on your lap. Or if he's bigger then use a chair but use a folding changing mat, there's loads available on ebay and amazon and etc that would help even bigger kids with a disability. Not the table. Never the table.
Well, if there is no facilities, I can understand this as a message that they need to make the necessary adjustments. but this looks like the kind of place where changing table are in the toilets.

I have 3 kids and I had to change diapers in a lot of weird places but on a crowded restaurant table, in the middle of dinner, nope, never.
Im traveler with two kids and i ecounter once with some creature like this in restaurant at Petronas Tower.. they change their daughter diaper while she stand on the restaurant table.. OMG.. the bathroom and nursing room only 10 meters away..
Surely the other customers would have protested before she got to this stage.Disgusting.

I used to work on a tourist steam train. Carriages were the real old type with windows that opened wide enough for a bear to crawl in. There were tables right next to said windows. Guess what entitled parents did ALL them time WHILE train was moving? Its a miracle no babies ever met a gruesome end by falling out! Plus people had to eat off those tables. Point those facts out and all you got was a mouthful of abuse!
About that : I was eating something at the restaurant of an Ikea store, and you can like or dislike Ikea, but they have everything for parents, including a special toilet room where you can change diapers and in both men's and women's rest rooms are little tables for that purpose especially. ..... and still a woman thought it okay to change her baby's diaper in the restaurant on the table just like this disgusting being...
O M F G I don't understand why people are so clueless sometimes.
Most women carry around mats to use in the bathroom I don't know anyone who would dream of doing this. Ask to borrow someones car or take it to a bathroom that has changing else where then come back. I'm a wheelchair user and I've been in places without accessible bathrooms usually I either a) choose a different place to go or b) go somewhere nearby for the loo (e.g. nearby supermarket or public toilets) I've even nipped into the pub across the road (the one I was in had a gig on) just politely ask and give them a donation to nip in to use the facilities simple!
I've come across places without facilities. Just ask for a place, or go to your own CAR! Gawd!

I have personally witnessed this at a Perkins. After church my friends and i went to get breakfast and a family changed a kid on the table. They left the diaper and no tip. I tipped the waitress $100.00 for the lack of respect of the family. That family was disrespectful but I did not say anything to them. I didn't acknowledge them. Their goal of demeaning someone was not met. Instead I made that woman's day she hugged me and let some tears. That's how you solve these issues. Lead by example not calling out the flaws. :).

Why is everyone so selfish these days?? I've seen SEVERAL parents do this, changing their kid at the table. I always tell them off and yet somehow, I'm the one in the wrong. People have no basic decency anymore. It's all about "me" and "MY kid". That whole mentality and mama bear thing needs to stop.

Being a clean freak, if some of my food fell off my plate in a restaurant, I would not touch it, this incident is a reminder, I am sure waitresses clean well, but you never know !!!

Restaurant workers are usually hesitant to speak up, so as a former server, I will: "WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU'RE DOING? WE'RE EATING HERE! GO TO THE BATHROOM!" And when people let their kids run around the restaurant, I yell out: "WHOSE CHILDREN ARE THESE? WHO IS STUPID ENOUGH TO LET THEIR CHILDREN TREAT THIS PLACE LIKE A PLAYGROUND?"

Yes. This is a cultural thing. When I was in China, riding a bus to the supermarket, a parent let their probably 15 month old pee right on the floor of the bus. This is pretty common. Then there was the toddler who pooped on the floor in the supermarket, or the the one who peed on the floor in the lobby of the hospital... it’s what happens there. No diapers of any kind... and I was not in rural China. Now I am glad disposable diapers aren’t a thing there, but I feel like cloth could be more in use... it is a fact of life there. Not trying to judge when I was there, but if someone, anyone, tried to do this in the US, I think other people would say something.

If this was in China, not surprised. I spent 6 weeks there and actually saw a woman carrying a baby without diapers; the child actually peed all over the steps leading into the Forbidden City.
They look Asian, a lot of them especially Chinese see no problem in letting their kids go to the toilet anywhere so this doesn't surprise me at all.
I do not think any of you are mothers. if there is no changing table, where to change it or should we just leave the child to scream/yell because he needs changing. yes, mom should be cleaning off the table where the changing happens.

I had to stop looking at those pictures, as I felt my heart rate increasing. What a bunch of ignorant, filthy, disrespectful and badly behaving people. We as a society should blame them way more often. Don't let them get away with this. If you see anything like this, call them out. Don't just ignore it. In most cases people with low wages have to clean after them and if that is not enough, some people treat them like slaves or are ignorant enough, to not even think about it. This is just not okay. Period. If you are someone who acts like this – Shame on you!
What is terrifying is this is becoming normal behaviour. So very sad.

Holy heck, AMEN MATE. I don't think I've seen anything as extreme as the idiots in this list, but I have to say, as someone currently working in retail, it pains me that I'm not allowed to shame some of the people who come into my store and take advantage of my forced silence. It's so unfair. I legally am not even allowed to call someone out on stealing. I'm forced to watch them leave the store, and THEN tell my manager. Like seriously? I WANT TO CALL THEM OUT!

I agree, Marc, but in America, there are concealed carry laws and you never know what kind of person you're going to come across..... The kind of person to do this kinda shit overlaps with the kind of person that would carry a concealed weapon way more frequently than is comfortable.
At my husband's multi million international company (well, he only works there) he tells me the bathrooms are a complete disaster. Feces is smeared all over the walls, even used to write things with. Most troubling thing is, the employees there are all learned people, they are all educated in a high skill. The company is a healthy and happy company, takes care of its people, has 3 company outings/events a year, bagels every Friday morning, catered lunches, group morale outings.....they go all out for them. It doesn't make sense. Seems like you simply get assholes, absolute asholes. And there is no explanation for their behaviour at all. My husband says they have gone through three janitors in the year that he has been there. I don't blame those men.
