Bored Panda interviewed Lee Glanville, the owner of "Ominous Signs" Instagram page, and asked him about his inspiration for the page. Glanville said, "I saw a few signs online that had a threatening energy to them and thought it would be funny to collect them into one place." He added that he likes signs that suggest "an authority figure is threatening you," as there is something funny about that.
Lee also shared that he has a particular fondness for the "children drive slowly" sign and believes that children should not be driving at all. He said, "Personally, I don’t think they should be driving at all." When asked about how he sources the images for his page, Glanville said, "I find most of them online and credit where possible, but people can and do submit images as well."
Considering how weird my dreams can get, by the time I look at my watch again, I'd probably be chased by a monster, or be busy shooting at little goblins.
Why do our phones or PCs never appear in our dreams? Although my watch is always there. It was elevnty past fifteen last night in my dreams.
Load More Replies...What is happening in Sheffield that they needed to warn people about this?!
Just in case someone visiting thinks they're having a nightmare.
Load More Replies...Wearing a watch would be the actual sign of a dream, since I don't wear one IRL
Also a lot of the time in dreams you're unable to read. Or write - I've had so many dreams where I'm trying to text someone but everything I type is gibberish.
I came of age in the 70’s, I’m totally cool with unreality. Drop a butt load of acid and you won’t have quite the same hang up on REALITY. Way overrated. So, I’m good one way or another.
Try psylocibin (mushrooms). Boiled, filter water or not, add grape Kool Aid powder. Tastes horrible, but the grape makes it tolerable. Clean, good visuals, no chance of tampering or contamination (rinse thoroughly, the best grow on cow manure). No traces in urine. Don't ask how I know this.
Load More Replies...Yes, because after reading this message I would know it's a nightmare, and I'm stuck in a parallel universe.
Bold of you to assume I would remember what time it was when I chcecked my clock first time. I look at the clock, I forget the time immediately while brain goes brrrrrrrrr. Then, after a while, I realize I wanted to actually know what time it is, and need to check the clock again.
Agree plus if you check it often it will be a different time. Maybe more seconds maybe more minutes.
Load More Replies...Recently, while dreaming, I realized I had two dreams occurring simultaneously, and I could slide in and out, from one to the other. So, what do you think my watch has to say about that?
After reading this my brain has literally made this happen in my dreams but the time is always stuck at 7:36 soooooo…..
You're supposed to count your fingers. If you have more or less than 5, it's a dream/hallucination.
I don't think I could read a watch in a dream. I can't even make a simple phone call.
If I did this 2 hours would pass between looks without me noticing and I can promise you, I wouldn't be dreaming
This is actually how you gain conscience control over your dreams (lucid dreaming). Do this enough and you will do it in your dreams.
I learned from an episode of the Batman cartoon when I was a kid that you can't read in your dreams.
Well... when I look back at my watch, it typically does display a different time due to how time works.
Who does still use a watch instead of a phone for getting the time? Even Macron removed his watch on TV when he realized it was making him a laughingstock :-)
Woah it’s true i looked at my watch it said 15:17 and then when i looked back it said 15:18! Crazy
This is a common method for initiating lucid dreaming. It is recommended to habitually check your watch while awake every hour and ask yourself if you are dreaming. Once this occurs while dreaming most dreamers can then control to some extent what they dream in a lucid manner.
What in the world or universe does this equate to make any sense?! Hmmm… I must be dreaming… Need-to-check-clock 😴
So, are they saying time stands still in real life but not in dreams?
The sign that generated the most engagement and sparked the most interesting discussions among his followers, according to the page owner, is the "please do not smile at strangers" sign in a train station. He believes that most people would rather be left alone during their commute. When asked about the future of the "Ominous Signs" Instagram page, Lee said that he is currently only focused on posting on Instagram. However, he mentioned that he has another project, an illustration account, that you Pandas, might want to check out as well.
In summary, Glanville's inspiration for "Ominous Signs" was the humorous and threatening nature of certain signs. He particularly likes signs that suggest an authority figure is threatening you, and he finds the "children drive slowly" sign particularly amusing. Lee sources the images for his page online and from submissions by his followers. The "please do not smile at strangers" sign in a train station generated the most engagement among his followers.
I like it… kindness goes a long way, even if you’re smiling at a murderous ghost :)

One of my faves was from Getaway magazine, a local mag which collected odd signs. The sign said, "Maak toe die bleddie hek!" (Close the bloody gate!)
