Having in mind how divided people are on the question of the vaccine, any news on the matter can intensify the debate even further. This is what happened when the news about Serbian professional tennis player Novak Djokovic broke, announcing that his visa to Australia was denied. This has made a lot of people question the player and the whole situation. Some people online decided to look at this matter from a more humorous perspective, so soon various funny memes and reactions started circulating on Twitter, most of them being against Djokovic being given the opportunity to participate in the Australian Open tennis tournament.

In the the beginning of the pandemic, the US shut down all sports. When they started to open it back up some, players were constantly tested. If they had symptoms or diagnosis, they were nor allowed to play until after their quarantine period. At times there were whole teams that couldn't play because so many players had it. After the vaccines came out, they were required to get the shot. There were rules the whole way through this all around the world.. Why would he think those rules didn't apply to him? Entitlement.

The Australian Open tennis tournament will start on the 17th of January this year and will end on the 30th of January. Given the situation that the whole world has to deal with, Australia is known to be a country that is succeeding in tackling the virus as 90% of its population have been vaccinated, and a requirement for all those who come to Australia to be vaccinated is in place. So those who were welcomed to participate in the tournament could only receive their visa if they are vaccinated. There are some exceptions made for those who cannot be vaccinated because of their medical conditions, but an exemption can only be granted in these severe cases with a credible explanation of the situation. One of the cases in which a person can be granted an exemption is when they are severely allergic to the vaccine.

What’s funny is that he might be given the opportunity to wiggle around regulations because the system could recognize him as more important than everyone else.
It is known that the player also tried to get an exemption in order to still be able to participate in the tournament. This only proved that Djokovic did not get vaccinated and has said some opposing thoughts about it. However, his beliefs clashed with the government requirements. So once he stated that he has been given an exemption, a lot of people were shocked and disappointed that his status outweighs the regulations that had to be followed by everyone.

I just listened to Novak’s father making ludacris accusations, comparing his son to Jesus and saying that he suffers as Serbians suffered throughout history. As far as I know 1. Jesus didn’t play tennis and he cured diseases instead of spreading them and 2. Australia has never invaded Serbia in its history.

The Australian open organisation gave him an exemption based on nothing. It's the government that rightfully is declining him entering the country. I don't agree with their policies, but I do respectfully understand and believe that it's not something I have or want a say in and neither does anyone else from outside the country.

He already organized an unsafe tournament in Serbia in the middle of Covid, which resulted in multiple people getting Covid. He's shown that he does not care about anybody else's health. He has also trashed other players, been rude to officials, talked down to everyone and publicly stated more than once that female tennis players are inferior and don't deserve to be given equal status to men. I hope this tanks his career completely.

If Djokadick can prove his vaccination status, or that he's had covid recently, or is medically exempt, then there really isn't a problem, is there?
