So I'm probably alone here, but I hated it. It was always some weird education show and it was back before anyone even pretended that accessibility was a thing, so there's deaf me in the classroom sitting through some confusing and frustrating who knows what, praying there weren't going to be questions afterwards, as the only concession ever made to my inability to hear it was I was allowed to come to the front... where the deafness would go away, I assume?

Excitement filled our little hearts when the teacher would roll this into the classroom. 🤣

"If I'm old enough". You youngsters with your modern tech. We had 16mm film reels and before that even some of those slide stick things where you play the record and when you hear the bong you push the stick sideways to line up the next slide. Also - shout out to those who sniffed the freshly mimeographed handouts.

Back in my day, we didn’t have a vcr and tv…back in the 70’s and 80’s we had a film projector and the teacher always had to fight with it for 20 minutes to get it to work…then pull down the projector screen if he was tall enough to reach it. We watched films that were from the 50’s and 60’s. “Here we see the cell dividing. This is called mitosis”…..most boring films ever in science class ! lol

In elementary school, I once saw a cart get caught on the sidewalk and tip over. The TV shattered, as did my heart.

We watched Watership Down in the gym when I was at Primary school. Half of us ended up in tears. On VHS though

If you were lucky, one kid in class had one of those watches that turned the TV off....

We had slide projector.

The first thing that popped into my memory is 9/11. We dragged one of these into our work area to see the news. You know, before we got evacuated. Sad and scary day.

I remember when an actual 8mm film projector was used.

I used to be so excited to see the TV and then you found out it was used in the class before yours and wasn't for your class! 😭

The last one of those I saw was when I was a Junior in high school. It had a Laserdisc player, and a DVD player. The school had one Laserdisc. It was something about national parks and applied to absolutely no class. Kind of a waste really. We watched Candyman on it in health class. Yes, my health teacher did not care about much.

It's only years later, when I became a teacher myself, that I realised these machines were used to cure hangovers.

Literally gave me butterflies seeing this image. How wonderfully easy science class was just watching that glorious box

Easy day

TV? try projector. Film of any kind meant a good day. Walk in and see the overhead projector and it was the exact opposite. That was the last thing any of us wanted to see.

LOL! I remember the reel-to-reel projector, and the AV geek always sweating whether the cables for the amplifier had stayed with the cart.

Seeing this was like winning a 2b powerball jackpot. That's all.

This is how it still looks in my school

In 8th grade during social studies, we had a 6 week unit studying Eskimos using TV and VCR tapes. The audio/visual method of learning was powerful. I still remember the seal hunts and the the Eskimos eating raw seal meat. The eyes of the seal were delicacies. This was 50+ years ago

Oooh... a video to zone out to....

We had film projectors and slides. All shown on a white pull down screen with the lights off and window blinds shut. Fun days.
