Most of the time, if you didn't break a rib, then you did it wrong. Most and all properly way of doing CPR, you are suppose to press down far enough like 2 inches down and fast enough to the song of " Staying Alive" meaning the beat of the song and if you break a rib or 2, then u may save their life!

I'm legit crying right now. My daughter is four, and she doesn't even know what a gun is. The loss of innocence, the ugliness of it all. Legitimately crying.

Since I was in preschool we’ve done these “code reds”. In preschool it started out with hiding in the bathroom and being quiet, by third grade we had escalated to locking the door and putting clack magnets on the windows into the classroom while turning off all lights and sitting down in the bathroom. Any by second grade we had “code yellows” where we would do the same but sit under our desks. At my new Catholic school, we just turn out the lights, block the windows, and stand next to a wall. All because ‘Murica Edit: also in my new school we only do it when there is a potential threat within a few miles. Another edit: code red is for when someone is in the building, code yellow is when someone is nearby, but at my new school they kinda mash into one

My sister is a teacher at a school in Portland, OR. She had to teach other teachers how to do active shooter drills. She text me and my mom the day after and said she did better this time cause she only broke down crying 3 times this time. I fear for her, her kids, and my kid. I hate this country.

While this is sad and, painfully obviously, much needed, it seems to me, a sheltered Scot, that having this, and the other post above about "active shooter drills", while I KNOW they are an absolute necessity in the US, that it is normalising and almost telling schoolchildren that this kind of thing will most likely happen! Is that really what any country wants to instil in future generations? And I KNOW I do know that this is necessary! But wouldn't it be amazing if it weren't necessary in the first place?

The bomb threat used to be from the sky and now it's in people's hands (guns).

Have the school shooters changed from students to adults? I must admit there are too many of them to follow these days, but all the school shooting I can recall were by disgruntled students. I ask, because I can't imagine a Kindergarten age kid being a school shooter.

The other day, a teenager here in Perth (Western Australia) took his Dads rifle to the school and fired 3 rounds into the building (no one was hurt). Such a rare occasion that it was headline news across the whole country
