If you ever saw a piece of paper left on your car, you probably know that it usually doesn’t mean anything good. Most probably it’s a ticket, because you parked somewhere you shouldn’t have or maybe it’s a note from a stranger who accidentally bumped into your car so you will have to deal with the insurance to cover the fix up.

But from time to time people find some more interesting notes on their cars wishing them a great day or confessing that they are writing down something just because there are people who are watching them so they have to pretend to not get the police called on them.

People shared the contents of notes they found on their windshields when someone on Quora asked “What was the most unexpected personal note you ever found on your windshield?” We are interested to hear if you have ever received an unordinary note or maybe you have written one yourself. Let us know about it in the comments and upvote the submissions that you found the most interesting.

30 Of The Most Startling Windshield Notes Folks Have Ever Found, As Shared In This Online Community “To Whom It May Concern, As you can see from your bumper sitting on the ground, I backed up too fast. I’m leaving you this note because there are witnesses and I am pretending to write down my insurance and contact info. Problem is, I have no insurance—Sucka!” There was another note. “I witnessed a kid in a truck hit your car. I wrote down his license plate number. My name and number is [edited for privacy].” The judge was not amused.

The first one feels very much like an urban legend. I've definitely read something similar in a book on urban legends once.

It sounds familiar, because it happens a lot. I got one on my windshield a long time ago. It was much nicer and actually apologetic, but basically the same-no insurance

Good for the decent human being who wrote note #2. As for the would-be hit-and-run, could have no doubt saved yourself some significant problems by just doing what you were legally obligated to do, jerk.

30 Of The Most Startling Windshield Notes Folks Have Ever Found, As Shared In This Online Community More along the lines of a coded message than a note. My first wife and I were teens when we got married. Before we divorced, I caught her cheating with a “friend”. Later on, I met a goddess of a woman. She worked at the same hospital as I. God, she was gorgeous! I got up the courage to talk to her one night at work. It was a thrill just to hear her speak. We talked about favorite things, just making conversation. The subject went to favorite drinks. I confided that I liked Miller Lite beer and she preferred Coors. I received an emergency call and our conversation ended there. “Miller Lite? I’ll remember that,” she called out behind me. I didn’t see her for several days after that, but never stopped thinking of her. She worked opposite shifts and days from me for several weeks. I thought she had forgotten all about me by now, especially a beautiful girl like her. She surely had her choice of anyone! I was down in the dumps, broken-hearted, disillusioned, and devastated. Then… One morning as I was going to my car, a sweet 1974 Grand Torino, and there it was! Proof that she had not forgotten me. Sitting on the middle of my car hood was a bottle of Miller Lite! And I was right! It was from her. I married that woman 35+ years ago, we’ve had 7 children together, and we’re together still. She is still the most beautiful, kind, smart, and thoughtful person I have ever met. Now, “It’s Miller time!”

30 Of The Most Startling Windshield Notes Folks Have Ever Found, As Shared In This Online Community I was early in my pregnancy and parked in one of those “expectant mother” parking spots. Granted I was fat at the time, wearing frumpy clothes and had zero makeup on and my hair was a sloppy bun and god do I love my flip flops…Besides the point. Anyways, I come out to my car and someone had written me a note saying: ”you’re too fat and ugly for anyone to ever want to f**k you. Leave the expectant mother spots for the real expectant mothers.” The real kicker? The guy who wrote the note was dumb enough to use company letterhead, I took the note to the company and told them that I was going to make sure that every news station and paper was going to see that letter. (I do get that it could have been written by someone not associated with that company, but where would they have gotten company letterhead paper?) I was floored! The manager went straight to the store I’d been shopping at to review the security footage, the man was fired right in front of me; I did feel a little bad, he had a pregnant wife but his boss said that he could not in good conscience employ someone stupid enough to do something like that on company letterhead. I still have that letter and am still fat

30 Of The Most Startling Windshield Notes Folks Have Ever Found, As Shared In This Online Community The note was simple: “You seem to be getting me in trouble. I figure we should meet. Jack” His phone number was also appended. How could I not call someone who left a note like this? So, I rang him up. Jack wasn’t in, but I talked to his wife, who seemed to be very nice. I told her about the note, which made her laugh, and left my name and number. Later that day, I got my call back from Jack. He said that he’d like to meet for coffee, and named a place that I frequented. I agreed to see him there the next morning. When I arrived, I was deeply surprised to find a 1963 Porsche 356B Carrera II, in Heron Grey, with a red leather interior, and a VDM wood steering wheel. What made that surprising? I was driving nearly exactly the identical vehicle. The only visible difference - even to a trained eye - was the license plates. His said “2000GS,” and mine said “4CAM” (note that there were only 247 Carrera II’s of any type made; two of which were identical, in the same smallish town - highly improbable). So, naturally, I parked alongside his car, and went in. Jack had a good twenty five years on me, but he was very friendly and active. We talked about our cars, our shared passion for the marque, and for the Fuhrmann four-cam engines in particular. I’d had mine for about two years. He bought his new, in Germany nearly 40 years earlier. We talked about cars for a good hour and a half before I thought to mention the note. What was up with the “getting him in trouble” part? It turned out that I had a dear friend who worked at a couple of adult entertainment establishments. And that from time to time, I’d wind up taking her to work, or picking her up, and would be parked outside the club. And, it turned out that on at least some of those occasions, I’d been in my Carrera II, and on at least some of those occasions, some of his wife’s friends had noticed the car, and “ratted him out.” Except, it wasn’t him. After a good laugh, we drove back to his house, where I got to see his workshop (he did insanely accurate recreations of the VDM wooden steering wheels, among other things) and took the opportunity to set things right with his wife. I offered to have my friend bake cookies and deliver them as a peace offering. His wife laughed and declined. We remained friends for several years, even after I sold my car in Monterey.

30 Of The Most Startling Windshield Notes Folks Have Ever Found, As Shared In This Online Community It was my birthday; had not heard from my daughter or her children. I had only been widowed for a few years. I was feeling lonely & forgotten. So I went for a walk @ a beautiful outdoor mall as a distraction from feeling sorry for myself. When I returned to my car, I noticed a small card placed under the wiper. Not addressed. I opened it up, the message was written in cursive by a young hand. It said, “You are beautiful.” No signature. I looked around for a person who may have left the note. No one was around. It's been 3 years, I still have the note.

I had two bumper stickers on the bumper of I car I used to own. One said, "Don't steal. The Government hates competition." The second one said, "Politicians are like diapers. They need to be changed often and for the same reason." I was at the mall one day and after I left and walked to my car, I saw a piece of paper under the left windshield wiper. At first I thought that I got a ticket though I wouldn't know why but, when I opened the paper it said, "Congratulations. I love your bumper stickers."

30 Of The Most Startling Windshield Notes Folks Have Ever Found, As Shared In This Online Community #Not just 1 note, but 2! The first one read - Sorry, a car came at me from the other way, and I bumped into the rear of your car. My details are …. The second one read - I’m sorry too. I saw my friend had hit your car, so I reversed back to see if she was all right, and bumped into the front of your car. My details are…. The insurance company had a right laugh, as they normally don’t get too many notes. I live (and park) on the Isle of Wight - things are a little more courteous around here.

No worse than a claim I heard of from a friend. He hit a patch of black ice, and slid into someone's yard, and forcibly stopped by a good sized tree. Happened just after "No Fault Insurance" came in... MPI (the Provincial Insurer) came back that the TREE was 50% at fault because "(the tree) jumped in front of him!" lol

One nice day I stopped at a park to take a walk. I noticed a young couple in the car parked next to mine but didn’t pay much attention to them. For some reason the girl must have thought I looked troubled and found it in her heart to reach out sand do something about it.

Indeed, I have a RBF too and it makes me really self conscious and insecure. Always conscious about how I have to contract certain face muscles to not look ugly. A note like this, no matter how well meant, would reinforce my insecurity, because other people confirm in it and it would really make me depressed up to wanting a facelift.

30 Of The Most Startling Windshield Notes Folks Have Ever Found, As Shared In This Online Community I could not believe it when it happened. I went to the post office to pick up a package. I have multiple myeloma which causes bone pain and easily break a bone and causes shortness of breath. I have a handicap placard. I go in and happen to see something yellow on my windshield. I thought it was a ticket. I leave the post office and look what’s on the windshield and it’s a note claiming I’m not disabled. Bull! I may not be in a wheelchair but it does cause disabling bone pain. I went back to the post office manager telling him to look at his cameras and I reported it to the police department as perhaps having been stalked.

(I didn't ask why, I thought that would be rude) But at the University (EDITED from Collage) bar when he couldn't get up there with his chair, he sometimes walked from his wheelchair a few steps to the bar and God damn how much s**t he got for that almost everytime. And all the people that complained during classes and crowded hallways that he was "in their way" and "we know you can walk". They should all be ashamed but they weren't, not even a little bit. Sometimes you wonder if these people are actually humans or robots, seeing only 1s or 0s. It's either you're handicapped or you're not, nothing in between. Look if that dude can only walk for a short distance, then the wheelchair makes sense. My eyesight was perfect, decades ago. Now I still see fine, some of the time, if the conditions are right. So you won't be letting me shoot an apple off your head. This is why I wear glasses much like that dude needing a wheelchair. These people with the knuckleheadedness.

We've had a couple of experiences with this kind of thing. One day, we parked in a handicapped space at a nursing home. We get out to go in, not looking disabled at all. A couple of women stop us to yell at us about taking a space we don't need. We continued in with them following. They went to the reception desk to "report" us, only to watch us walk back out with my MIL using her walker. She had been visiting FIL. So, not only are there "hidden" disabilities, there are other legit reasons for parking in those spots.

This happened to me. I have had people YELL at me to move my car because there is nothing wrong with me. I just smile and wave as I go around to the back and get my mother's mobility scooter and get her out of the car. I have also had people tell me that I shouldn't be parking there because she has a scooter, well, those are the only spaces that are wide enough to get her in and out of the scooter.

Just wait until all of these rude m***********s needs to get a disabled plaque. Not that I would wish that on anyone, because it is Hell. One day I needed to pick-up a couple of things at the grocery store, but my best friend, who is blind was questioned as to why she was just sitting in the car. It boggles the mind.

Because she doesn't have a "visible" handicap, and depending on *when* she went blind, it's even worse for her (accusation wise), because her eyes will appear to move towards sound sources. The screamers are almost as scummy as the stall stealers.

This makes me so mad. Those handicapped placards/plates are not given out like lollipops after a shot, you have to have your doctor approve them. The DMV will only give them out on your doctor's authorization. If someone has the placard/plates designating them as disabled, that's all you need to know. All these SJWs minding everyone's medical business is outrageous. The disabled have enough problems without a**holes like this leaving notes.

The other issue is that some people have fake placards, just so they can use the stall. Given that the fine for using a SN stall without legal right to do so is a $300 fine in my jurisdiction, and misuse of a legitimate permit can result in it's confiscation... I'm sure a counterfeit permit can be even pricier.

That's a card indicating that there's a package waiting behind the desk or in a parcel locker. It probably wasn't written by someone from the post office, but by someone leaving the office with a package. I wish people would have the courage to sign their name to these things.

30 Of The Most Startling Windshield Notes Folks Have Ever Found, As Shared In This Online Community I Intended to answer this question and, lo and behold, that very note dropped out from an old folder today! I had moved to the Wedding Bezirk of Berlin a few months earlier with my beloved Twingo, I still had my Italian license on it. One morning I get to it and find this note in Italian: Foreword: I don’t usually leave this kind of messages but we have the same car, exactly in the same color…But mine is Spanishing :) Therefore I’d be curious to know who drives this Turinese one ;-) If you’d like a chat -> (phone number and facebook profile) We got in contact afterwards and she was a girl from Milan who had lived for some time in Spain and had recently moved to Berlin, went out as friends several times afterwards and I actually rented my flat to her parents when they visited Berlin. Also, she had managed to get touch-up paint for the Twingo, so we set up a painting date for our cars! Eventually she moved back to Spain but we still keep in touch occasionally.

Reminds me of a less heartwarming event that happened to me in Rome when I lived there. I was driving a Fiat 500 (the old one) white with distinctive brown stripes on the side. I get out of school downtown and get in the car. By the time I a few Km away I realize something is wrong. The interior looks... alien, and there was an umbrella in what passes for a glove comp. in that car. Finally I realize I stole someone else's car. I drove back and found my car about a block away, It was quite a feat to double park one car, get out another identical car and finally park the original car in Rome's traffic, but I managed it. People were watching and wondering.

I had a relatively rare car (2006 Scion xA, they only made that model for 2 years) and it seemed like a sign that when we looked at this house for sale my car was already parked out front. It turns out both the neighbors across the street and another down the block had the same year, model, and color car. It was an excellent car. I traded mine in a few years ago but feel like I still keep in touch with it since I see the neighbors’ matching car every day. Theirs is 16 years old and still going strong!

30 Of The Most Startling Windshield Notes Folks Have Ever Found, As Shared In This Online Community I parked in a blue handicap parking space with my placard dangling from the mirror, and returned to my car to find a scrawled note under the wiper that read, 'your to young to be handicapped in a car like that and the police have been called'. I wish the cop would've showed up, so I could show him my paperwork and sneer at whoever thought young age makes you healthy. I had a stroke at a young age and drive a high performance car that I bought prior to health issues

I once saw an open topped sports car parked in a handicapped space. I was mentally criticizing the driver for it, when a man with a buff upper body but no legs came out of the gym, wheeled himself to the car, hoisted himself into it and then reached over, folded up his wheelchair, lifted it into the car and drove off. I then mentally apologized.

As long as they have the placard or plates, why do you care? Why did you make it your business to begin with? They don't give handicap placards/plates like lollipops after a shot. You have to have your doctor approve it. It is none of your business who drives any type of car. As long as the plates/placard are there, that's all you need to know. These assumptions and people minding everyone's business are really annoying. Disabled people have enough every day challenges without people minding where they park their car and judging them for the car they drive.

Plus, the person you see getting in and out of the car at the moment might not be disabled. They might be driving someone who is. I cared for an elderly, disabled relative with a placard who could not drive herself. I'd drop her off and pick her up at the doctor, the salon, etc. I got glares and comments multiple times from people who saw me without her.

I was 18 when my dad suffered a catastrophic brain injury in an accident. Feeding tube, diapers, near-vegetative state, the whole nine yards. We got a placard for our VW Touareg because we took him to SO MANY doc appts/therapies/etc. I am a relatively healthy-looking female in general, and back then, I was thin. I always got the stinkeye when I parked in the handicapped spots when taking him to appts… until I whisked out his wheelchair and physically belt-transferred him into it. Then I’d give them the stinkeye right back. I doubt I did anything more than momentarily shaming some d-bags, but the return stinkeye made ME feel better, at least. Since then (I’m 40 now) I’ve had a few pinpoint strokes that have handicapped me somewhat, but I’m sure I’d still get the stinkeye.

Because at least in California, the permit is only valid if the disabled individual it was specifically issued to is along on that trip. When my husband had a temporary disabled parking permit a few years ago (broken leg, he's fine now), the permit lived in the car, but it was only legal for me to use it if he was with me on that trip, not for my commute to work or any errands on the way home (for example). I'm sure you know your co-worker is a jerk.

Even when we think we're just being a good citizen. I was at the market and found a big manila envelope in a cart filled with medical paperwork..I mailed the packet to the address on them with a note stating that I found them at the market and forgot about it. About a week later, I received a card in the mail thanking me profusely for mailing them, that they were going out of their mind trying to find them. They also sent a $50 visa gift card with it. I thought that was so sweet and unnecessary but I really appreciated it.

My only confusion is that to me, double parking is where you are parked beside a car in the street, that is parked legally along the curb, and you are in traffic... By context, I'm guessing it was in a lot, and she straddled a line, or at the minimum, hugged it uncomfortably close... Either is easy to do when driving anything larger than a standard sedan.

In the UK some people use double parked to mean parked in one side of the road when there is already a car parked on the other side of the road. Our roads tend to be narrow so this means it's difficult for traffic to move by.

So I'm guessing parking meters are still a thing in the US then? I've lived in the UK since 2005 and have never seen any here - or elsewhere in Europe where I've visited. Everywhere seems to use parking apps that you access via smartphone - or machines where you pay up-front for a ticket that you display on your dashboard. I kind of miss the old parking meters they had in South Africa where I grew up.

In Sweden there have been a car parking pay system for very long that prevents such gestures of kindness. Meter robberies and trashing, work time to handle coins, new IT-technologies that just have to be tested (no matter how often the DON’T work) … things like that narrows the possibility of kindness.

30 Of The Most Startling Windshield Notes Folks Have Ever Found, As Shared In This Online Community Not on my windshield . . . My first car purchased when I was 16 was a 9-year-old Ford Pinto. I was so proud! I was one of the few kids in my high school with her own car. Suddenly I had a lot of friends, and it took some time to learn that lesson, but that’s a story for another day. I spent a couple paychecks and got a cheap paint job: bubblegum pink! It looked like a giant Easter egg! I loved that car! I took it with me to university, where of course it was parked a mile away from the dorms in a gravel student parking lot. I made a point of visiting it every Saturday, even if I wasn’t driving somewhere, just to fire it up and keep the battery happy. Sitting unmoved in a gravel lot for weeks at a time, my pink paint job got awfully dusty. Someone used his finger to draw in the dust on the windows: “Who said you have any taste?” It was the first negative comment I’d ever had on my pink car. Since then, I’ve owned a pink Camaro, a pink Firebird, and a pink Corvette, and I got discounts at my auto paint shop.

My favourite colour is yellow and I had wanted a yellow car for ages, but was always too practical to actually buy based on colour. Well last time I had to buy a car, the best bang for our buck in our price range in terms of gas mileage, safety, etc was actually a beautiful goldenrod yellow. I bought that car years ago and it STILL makes me happy every time I see it. I hate pink, but who cares? Buy the car that makes YOU happy. :D

30 Of The Most Startling Windshield Notes Folks Have Ever Found, As Shared In This Online Community It happened to my wife in 2006. When she came back to her brand new 2006 Nissan Altima there was a note on her windscreen. In the note the lady said her shopping cart dented my wife’s new car. She left her name n phone number saying she was paying for the repairs. I took the car to a major body work n the repair was about 1300 dollars . I called her n she was a bit shock by the price ( I was shocked too of the quotation) I said I will look around for a cheaper quotation. I managed to find a cheaper quotation from a family owned body shop. She went to pay n all was good. I think it was an unexpected note. A lot of people would just walk away from the scene. That is also the reason I look for a cheaper quotation from another company as she is a Wonderful honest person.

Something similar happened to me. I was still young and a novice driver. I underestimated how much space I had when parallel parking. I left a note with my information. The guy took it to an auto body shop and got a quote for $300ish (back in the late 90's). He only asked for $100 because of my honestly.

I want to believe that people are just morally responsible and would do this without prompting but I tend to be cynical and think people do it only because they're worried there's a camera somewhere that would catch them doing a hit and run.

30 Of The Most Startling Windshield Notes Folks Have Ever Found, As Shared In This Online Community I was in a hurry and ran out the door. Then ran back in to give hubby his valentines gift and a kiss goodbye. I ran back outside to find my vehicle plastered in sticky notes with each of them having a personal message from my hubby. Best Valentine’s Day ever. Kept them around my inside of my vehicle for years afterwards. My mechanic saw them and asked about them and decided to do just the same thing for his wife the following year.

30 Of The Most Startling Windshield Notes Folks Have Ever Found, As Shared In This Online Community Back in the 80’s, I worked in a 5 story office building. One day, as I was leaving, I found a note ony windshield. Of course, I opened and read the note while still standing at the door of my car. It was actually quite sweet for that time. There were no cell phones, creepers were not as rampant as they are now. It was from a man who worked on the 3rd floor ~ I worked in the 2nd, different company. He was an architect. I worked in insurance. He said that he had noticed me for awhile, coming & going from work and could not figure out how best to ask me on a date. He gave me his work number, asking if I would call him. If I liked that idea, then we could meet for lunch outside, in front of the office ~ we could brown bag lunch on the front steps. That always struck me as such a thoughtful & sweet gesture. We did have that lunch ~ then went to the movies that weekend. We saw, “Back to the Future". We dated for a while and he was a very nice, polite man in his mid 20-s, like me. We were different enough, though, that we both moved on after a few months, no hard feelings on either side. I always wish him well when I think back on him and that time. Nobody could get away with trying such a daring act like that today. Knowing what I know now, and the years gone by, I doubt I would have ever made that call. I am glad that I did.

30 Of The Most Startling Windshield Notes Folks Have Ever Found, As Shared In This Online Community It was a note so tiny under the wiper, I nearly missed it. The note said, “Please park in your own road.” I live in a parking-stressed area near a town center. I buy an annual permit which allows me to park within marked bays anywhere in a particular district. It can sometimes feel a bit irritating having to park two streets away from home, especially if the rain is lashing down, but that’s how it is sometimes. Of course I would park in the road where I live had I the choice, but sometimes I haven’t. In my particular road there are lots of flats, meaning there is insufficient road frontage for everyone’s cars. However, it appears that an effing twat in a neighboring road requires reserved parking. What a wanker. I have narrowed it down to three houses. If I were to win the lottery, I would pay people to park outside his house. Indeed, I might even buy several old cars, obtain permits for them, and leave them there semi-permanently. “Please park in your own road” - as if I’ve gone out of my way to NOT park in the road where I live. I’ve asked around and others have received similar notes when parking in the same small close.

I had that happen to me and then I was towed! When I was parking (I had a tiny car), my friend and I literally triple checked to make sure I was good. The spot must’ve been a usual spot for someone on the street, and they left a note saying “why you park here you got small car (sic)”. Like wtf does that even mean? Three hours later and $250 poorer, we left the impound lot at 3am.

If the city planner’s use their brains perhaps a “nose i-rare out” parking is preferable 🤔. That could at least make place for 1/4 more cars… Is it possible to park cars vertical? Or built a parking house both up to the sky and down to the core… 😵‍💫OMG! Why did you start my little Fixer gene?! Same here. I had to oark one street over and the guy who lives there started a rant about how people should park where they live or "something could happen to their car". He told me there were weird people around and somebody might key the car (him, obvsly). All of that while I was holding a bag of groceries and a 1year old in my arms. Well, I replied the same weird people could also start breaking people's windows so he should be careful. Nothing happened to my car that day but I have never parked there again and my neighbour told me about some people who actually did have their cars keyed after parking there. But nobody can prove anything.

30 Of The Most Startling Windshield Notes Folks Have Ever Found, As Shared In This Online Community I can’t think of any found on mine, but I did put one on the car at Walmart. My note read: Do NOT start your car. There is a cat trapped under your hood. If you listen, you can hear it crying. IF you are uncertain what to do, please call for help. I also put the same note on the door handle in case they missed the windshield note. I waited for quite a while, but I gave up and went home. I hope someone found the kitty. I couldn’t stay. I did alert the people in the store with the car description and license plate number, too.

One time, when I was working at Payless, a couple came into the store to let us know the car parked right in front was meowing. Luckily, it was my coworker's car. We went out, she popped the hood, and I carefully extracted a greasy, gray tabby kitten who proceeded to shred my hand as I carried it to an empty box in the back room.

30 Of The Most Startling Windshield Notes Folks Have Ever Found, As Shared In This Online Community I was parking in Greenwich Village in New York a few years back and accidentally bumped and left a scratch on a brand new car, which was a tiny bit over the marked parking space. When the owner didn’t return in 15 minutes, I left a note on the windshield (which a bystander who saw the whole thing read immediately upon my leaving) and went about my business. when I got back to the car a new note by the owner of the car I damaged had been placed on my windshield. This is what it said: “No problem,Thank you.” That was it. I never heard from the owner of that car again.

I was 9 1/2 months pregnant and I had just left a restaurant. I backed into a truck denting their Veteran License Plate. I felt so bad, I left a note apologizing and asked them to contact me and I would pay for replacement. The person texted me a couple of days later and I immediately asked how much do I owe you. They said don’t worry about it and the fact that I left a note was payment enough. I hadn’t mentioned I was pregnant but I was super grateful, and I could buy things for my baby instead.

Someone did that with my 1994 Dodge Shadow when I bought it in 1996. I'd only had it for a couple of months at the time. If they'd offered a little bit later I would have taken them up on it. That car was a piece of junk. Didn't even get to 100,000 miles before it conked out at an intersection, and other inopportune locations/times.

I came out of a convenience store in late 2005 and this note was stuck to my triple black 2003 Dodge Viper that I was driving at the time. It was spring and prom season was just around the corner in my hometown so I assumed it was a young man inquiring to use it for that reason. I never called the number to see though. I still have the note as a keepsake to remind me of the attention that old car got back in the day.

256 is northern Alabama. That car is not run of the mill there. Mustangs if they want a muscle car and all the DoD people find themselves in stingrays if they want a “high end” sports car.

30 Of The Most Startling Windshield Notes Folks Have Ever Found, As Shared In This Online Community Went to a female owned barbershop. Came back out after getting a haircut and I had a note on my car. From what seemed like a woman in the shop giving me a compliment and asking me out. But she forgot to add her number or name. When I went in to ask I think it was to public and no one wanted to fess up. So I just said to who ever was that left it thank you and I appreciate it.

Mm not to sure, women are actually capable of giving genuine compliments without expecting or wanting anything out of it

The way you worded this is ambiguous and I think people are reading it incorrectly. You mean to say "Women can give a compliment without them asking a person out. So I'm not sure they were asking you out." But people can gloss over a comma real easily.

So the poster (presumably male) got a nice compliment, then assumed that the complimentor was female and actually wanted more than just to give a compliment? UGH.

30 Of The Most Startling Windshield Notes Folks Have Ever Found, As Shared In This Online Community I randomly found this on the windshield of my car after I came out of a Uhaul office. I had just moved to Austin and was dropping off my trailer. It was really unexpected. Welcome to Texas!

Wow, this reminds of the time we had a secret santa gift exchange at work a few years ago, and I got a gift from a secret admirer. I never did find out who it was. I had my suspicions...

30 Of The Most Startling Windshield Notes Folks Have Ever Found, As Shared In This Online Community One night, after leaving a nightclub many years ago, I found a note on my windshield. The note had a phone number on it, and a question mark. When I got home, I pondered calling the number but it was late, and I waited until the next day. It seems I had an admirer who didn’t want to make his interest, public. I had been with a group of people, so if he’d approached me, anything he said would have been heard by everyone nearby (you had to shout to be heard in the club). When I called the number the next evening, that started a relationship that lasted for quite a while.

30 Of The Most Startling Windshield Notes Folks Have Ever Found, As Shared In This Online Community Yes, as I found out later, a beautiful woman left her phone number on my Audi's windshield many years ago along with a little poem. It went like this… Do you or don't you? Will you or won't you? If you will, when? If you won't, why? I thought that was very apropos at the time and I dated her for awhile! Her name, as I recollect was Susan of my city.

It's interesting to see how some drivers choose to leave notes explaining their parking choices or mishaps. This mirrors the ingenious ways people express their frustrations with bad drivers.

Check out the humorous and creative methods people use to deal with driving frustrations and perhaps consider leaving your own polite passive-aggressive note next time.

30 Of The Most Startling Windshield Notes Folks Have Ever Found, As Shared In This Online Community It was 1984. I was living in a small apartment building, and the driveway was paved but no parking spaces marked. All went well most of the time. One Friday evening, I got home late from work, and there was only on place to park, between two cars. I slept in the next day and didn’t go out until the afternoon. There was a handwritten note on my windshield that read, “You selfish b*st*rd….” (guess they didn’t know I was female)” and then went on about my “bad” parking. Seems how I was parked that Friday night didn’t fit in with how others around me were parking the next day. Moral of story: think about it before writing a nasty note to leave on someone’s windshield.

I'm not sure how that's the moral of the story. Does being female somehow give this person a right to inconvenience all her neighbours with her parking? Perhaps I missed something

She parked the only way she could the night before. Then other cars left and new cars came, and new cars didn't park the same way. Note-writer assumed she was the horrible parker, when she had not moved her car from how it was before.

30 Of The Most Startling Windshield Notes Folks Have Ever Found, As Shared In This Online Community I went to lunch at a restaurant with outdoor seating. Hundreds of people under parasols having lunch. When we finished, I walked out to find a note on the windshield of my Tahoe, and a big gash in the back left quarter. The note read, ”Sorry I hit your car. Everyone thinks I am giving you my contact information. I am not.” That was very unexpected! Jim, down in Texas

30 Of The Most Startling Windshield Notes Folks Have Ever Found, As Shared In This Online Community I was in high school. While walking to my car after school, I saw something tucked under the windshield wiper. The handwritten note said “Thanks for taking up two parking spots, you inconsiderate Jerk! I looked at the car and it wasn't taking up 2 parking places. I was confused. Who left this note? I must of said “What the f**k ?” Out loud. I heard some laughter coming from a nearby bush. My girlfriend jumps out from behind the bush laughing her a**off. “Who wrote that letter?” she asked. She kept things interesting.

It’s got to be said: not must OF - Must HAVE! I may sound like an old crabby pants, but I seriously see this written every day and it actually makes me sad.

Ugh. Can't stand when people do this. Right up there with "for all intensive purposes" and "I could care less". What you are saying/writing makes no kind of sense, how do you not notice that? I might get it if English was not their first language, but the reality is, native English speakers are the ones who do this!

30 Of The Most Startling Windshield Notes Folks Have Ever Found, As Shared In This Online Community I parked my car and there was a note telling me to ring a door bell. It was a nice neighborhood, daylight and my car was parked right in front of the house. I rang the door bell out comes a little woman that tells me I park my car in front of her house all the time and the hours that I worked and my profession.Okayyy???!!!! She told me not to park there anymore because she liked to come out her house and park there. I walked away after ripping the note to little pieces and leaving it on her lawn like confetti. Immature yes, but she had a driveway!!! About 4 years ago the same town implemented a bunch of speed humps while driving over one of them down that street guess whose house they put one in front of…wait for it….mean old lady. I bet she didn't give the Mayor the same speech that she gave me and several other coworkers. She no longer parks in front of her own home.

The *only* place you are Entitled to park in most Cities, is in your own driveway / garage. Street parking, for the most part, is "Local Use Only"...in other words, ANYONE can use it.

It is annoying when someone parks in front of your house. Sure there are places where drivers have little choice, but I don't see how the OP could assume the old lady was mean - she seems to have gone a nice way about it.
