American adventurer Christopher McCandless, who the movie Into The Wild is based on, is attributed with the phrase "Happiness is only real when shared", and I guess the same can be said about a lot of other emotions, too. We humans are social creatures, and our lives are heavily dependent on the connections we form with one another. Out of those, arguably the most important one is with our mothers. However, not everyone has one.
Luckily, there is a subreddit called 'Mom For A Minute' to fill the void, even if ever so slightly. "We are Mother Geese to our loving Ducklings," the community introduces itself. "When you need understanding, congratulations, praise, or advice from a mother figure, but don't have one in real-life able or willing to provide that for you — we are here for you. We support you and love you unconditionally!" And they deliver every single time.
Over the years, we at Bored Panda have covered a lot of corners of the internet but this is one wholesome tearjerker. I know it can sound like a cliché, but sometimes knowing that there's a person who cares really is all that you need to get through the day.

Yes!!! Absolutely! I seem to have a "resting b!tch Face", and very few men (or anyone, really) has tried to be creepy with me. Once I turn around and they see me, I kinda look like a jacked up Marine, and they suddenly lose interest. My husband says it bc I'm built like Ronda Rousey the fighter. And I grew up with 4 brothers, so I can hold my own if I needed to. But I'll go apesh$t on a creep for anyone.

Hey girls, or boys even, if you're being assaulted in a sexual manner, try to find someone to help. Most people will be supportive. I have a few instances where both scared girls and guys asked me for help. I have the personality of a Teddy bear, but I look I be a grizzly, and I just always was happy to help. I've been multiple people's dad or uncle. Predators will always look for a lone target, but if you can find a friend, just for a few minutes, it could save your life.

As a mom, I can't wait for my sons to find The One. My oldest has been with his girlfriend since middle school and they're in college at the moment (she just graduated with her undergrad in Speech Therapy and is now enrolled in a Masters program and he graduates next year then on to med school) but my youngest is still figuring out life (they're 22 and 19), but regardless, I could care less who they end up with, as long as they're happy. That's literally all I want for them; to be happy in life. Also, grandkids, but even the grand babies don't have to come from them, adoption works too. At the moment, I have a fur-grandson named Finn that my oldest and his wonderful girlfriend share together. And yep, I send him care packages with lots of toys and treats for every holiday.

This is awesome I remember my daughter at 4 years old asking if we could bring a trash bag along for this reason. And thankfully some neighbors saw the value and even thanked her. Nothing wrong with making a place more beautiful, and just because no one else thought to do it doesn't mean they don't appreciate it. I hope he kept on doing it. He should feel proud of himself for taking the initiative.

I would love to have seen what she looked like before she stopped drinking. Not to be mean, I know she would still be beautiful, but it's amazing how even 30 days of not drinking can completely make you look healthier and more alive. It's very noticeable and shocking, this coming from an alcoholic.

I had a 15" B&W TV, a chair to put it on, about 2 or 3 plates, some utinsels and a pot & frying pan, my clothes and a pillow with 2 comforters. LOL! It was the coolest place because it was my own apartment! (This was back in the 80's). I have my own house now so hey! Enjoy your little domain! It takes time to add to it but it's all you! Alll the best!

Freecycle and Trash Nothing... my entire first set of apartment furniture was free to me from large trash days (paid for a mattress though). This was mid80s. Being safe was priority one. Living in a car was too scary.

When you get off work, do something extra - buy a ridiculously expensive coffee, or a muffin - hell, buy two muffins so you can leave one in the car to eat before tomorrow's shift. As I understand it drag is dressing up in nice, often somewhat provocative clothes that are normally assigned to the opposite sex. So for instance a male presenting person in a tube dress and heels would probably be someone in dragon. I should clarify that it goes beyond clothing. Often people where wigs and apply makeup or faceplant and false padding or compression to make their faces and bodies look more like the person they're pretending to be. Like Furries it sort of an alternate identity.

I know how this person feels. I was 72 pounds last year. I'm now over 90 pounds! (A lot of it's from stress eating, but I'm still proud ) even though 90 pounds still ain't great, I am getting better weight wise! Nobody really cared but my friend, but I'm proud of my self.

I've been there. I'm 6'2", and for most of my life I was barely 100 pounds. Now I'm about 180. I'm a lot happier at this weight, though I do wish I could lose some of the belly. Its the only place I have excess fat, and its very unnattractive on me.

This time last year I weighed around 10 pounds lighter than I do today. I'm 5'2" and I weighed 84 pounds. Undiagnosed celiac disease, anaemia and iron difficiency had me in a bad way. I'm still not exactly curvy but I'm gluten free, and no longer anaemic!

In middle school I only weighed 60 pounds. I was only around 4'5 and I only ate once a day, and only because my parents convinced me to. It took me until 10th grade to officially be considered a healthy weight. It is such a tough thing to experience, and even harder to overcome, but you made it! You should be very proud of yourself, and know how much better your life will be now because you had the strength and determination to make a change that at first seemed impossible. Keep it up, and congratulations!

S**t, your comment hit me hard. This is a pain I can relate to deep in my heart and soul... Lost my mama, whom I was incredibly close with as well, to cancer... Like, if a mother and daughter could be soulmates, we absolutely were. It will be 2 years ago in July. There are similarities I have w/ her in the way I behave and certain things I do that I will never change, and that's how I keep her surviving in this world... which has provided me with at least a little bit of comfort and relief. Sounds like your mama was a lovely person, and perhaps there are traits/skills/characteristics of her that you can (or maybe already do) pass down to your girls that they too can pass on to others to ensure her influence never stops making a difference in this world. Anyway, wherever you're at in the journey of grief, for what it's worth know that a stranger over here feels for you and genuinely hopes you're doing okay. Damn, sorry about the essay....shoulda prefaced this with "dear diary"...

S**t, your comment hit me hard. This is a pain I can relate to deep in my heart and soul... Lost my mama, whom I was incredibly close with as well, to cancer... Like, if a mother and daughter could be soulmates, we absolutely were. It will be 2 years ago in July. There are similarities I have w/ her in the way I behave and certain things I do that I will never change, and that's how I keep her surviving in this world... which has provided me with at least a little bit of comfort and relief. Sounds like your mama was a lovely person, and perhaps there are traits/skills/characteristics of her that you can (or maybe already do) pass down to your girls that they too can pass on to others to ensure her influence never stops making a difference in this world. Anyway, wherever you're at in the journey of grief, for what it's worth know that a stranger over here feels for you and genuinely hopes you're doing okay. Damn, sorry about the essay....shoulda prefaced this with "dear diary"...
