People On This Group Are Shaming ‘Neckbeards’, And Here Are 30 Of Their Best Posts
Prepare yourselves, dear Pandas, we’re about to journey into one of the most shadowy and hilarious corners of the internet—into the vast Cringe Empire, home of the elusive, socially inept neckbeards. Known for their poor hygiene, misogynistic points of view, [ahem] ‘interesting’ style choices, love of anime, katanas, body pillows, and Japanese culture, these fedora-wearing individuals are called neckbeards.
A pejorative term, it lightly pokes fun at those geeks who have over-inflated egos (and more than occasionally—over-inflated tummies), are often misogynistic, call people “m’lady,” and believe that acting like a functioning member of society is more of a recommendation than a requirement. Whether or not they have a beard on their necks or in their hearts is beside the point. All that matters is the beard in their soul.
One place that publicly shames the most cringeworthy neckbeards is the ‘Just Neckbeard Things’ subreddit, a community of nearly 809k members. It’s an online group “for mocking those who adorn their necks with proud man fur.” And I love their tagline which is “barba non philisophum facit” which roughly translated from Latin means “one's beard does not make a philosopher.”
Have a look through some of the subreddit’s funniest and quirkiest posts about neckbeards, upvote the ones that made you laugh, and be sure to give the online group a visit if you enjoyed their stuff. Onwards, dear Readers! Just remember not to touch anyone’s fedora—it makes them... angry.
Plenty of neckbeards eat very poorly, move very little, and stereotypically subsist on Doritos and Mountain Dew, which means their health isn't up to scratch. Bored Panda reached out to fitness expert Jack Bly to hear his take on what we can do to improve our health and fitness if we feel that it's negatively impacting the quality of our lives. You'll find his insights below.

Women And Their... *shuffles Deck* ...pants!
Where's The Lie?
If they really wanted girlfriends they'd be all over the girl geeks and gamers and programmers, but they do their damndest to push them away... thereby ending any possibility of meeting a girl they have anything in common with. They have NO idea that they have terrible intimacy issues, they'd rather believe it's all the fault of, well, every female alive.
Yep. Plus They get off on self-pity, so it suits them to brand women the same
Load More Replies...I refer to myself as a geek girl and one thing that really is annoying to me, is that boy geeks expect from me to know every character, actor, movie maker, titles and just some scenes out of the blue. The fact that I like certain things, doesn't mean I have to learn everything about it, geez
Most male geeks don't know everything either but there are some who think that knowing everything makes them "superior" to all other geeks. If I had a pound for every time someone has said to me "how can you not know that, call yourself a fan" I would have enough money to buy a full set of replica Mandalorian armor, lol.
Load More Replies...Indeed.A very big part of the male nerd community is really sexist. I have been gaming since I was on my mums lap in the 90s (she started gaming in the late 80s and even now at 60 she still loved videogames). I got so sick of hearing how women cant be nerds or gamers and we do it for attention. Specially if they are attractive. If you are unattractive you dont even exist for these morons. One of the things that stranged me from a lot of my male nerd colleagues was seeing them (often very unattractive) insulting women for not looking like an anime character or s**t shaming the ones who were conventionally attractive.
Oh man.. people (in game)always think that i'm a guy even when i use female char. Until i told them i'm a 40 years old hag. But some ppl still said to me, that no f****n way a female (especially a 40yo like me) would play rpgs😂it's hilarious
Yeah I've been getting mistaken for a dude in games since EverQuest
Load More Replies...THIS! I love comic books and stuff like that and these guys would probably say that I am a "fake geek". Anyone can love comic books, but not everyone loves someone that is condescending and misogynistic.
The rage over "fake geek girls" or (and I've seen this firsthand) the complaints about how the 'cool kids' are screwing up geek culture... 99% of the cases I've seen... it's because the person/persons doing the complaining essentially are taking the path of least resistance. Path A: Look at self. Practice self-awareness and be honest with how you treat others and how you honestly come across to people. - This is hard and served with a massive scoop of humble pie... Path B: Blame another person.. better... another GROUP, then feel smug and don't grow as a person..... WELL... let's see... most of them... Path B it is!
Most nerds / geeks are too afraid to talk to girls to be anything like misogynists, it's the trendy hipster guys that you seem to be describing
No it isn't and they are perfectly capable of being abusive in the digital world.

A very salient video on the subject...https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f-gX0spJpa0
Again with the broad brush stereotypes..... I've been a nerd as far back as I can remember. I'm 53 and still a nerd. Never in my life have I or any of my nerd friends complained about a girl getting into nerd stuff. Any of us would have LOVED for a girl to be interested in XMen, D&D, Star Wars, etc... It was virtually unheard of for a girl to be into nerd stuff. Other girls were MERCILESS against them. We used to get into fights all the time by people who thought we were weird. Now we get constantly attacked by this new wave of "Geeks" who stereotype male nerds the same way the jocks used to. Just so you know, those mysoginistic condescending dickbags were reviled by us as well and were the minority. I stood in line for the first Star Wars as a kid, read comics when they were about 25 cents and still play pencil and paper RPG's with family and friends. Just stop with the "Geek guys are incel" mentality already
If you're the kind of loser who's into comic books, I don't think you can afford to be choosy regardless of whether you're a dude or a "geek girl".
Eh unpopular opinion but I can kinda understand the pushback. Im a female gamer and I have been ever since i was little. For a long time I was the only girl I knew that liked video games and nerdy stuff... When I got a bit older and went to conventions I found kindred spirits but it was still few and far between. Back then no one had a problem with girls at AX or whatever because fake geek girls were not a thing. At all. I never got gatekeeped or tested by guys. That only started happening recently. Why? Because gaming is almost mainstream now, and extremely marketable. I see bikinis at every convention and they're almost always trying to sell something. I, as woman find it annoying in the same way ads or influencers are annoying. If models cosplaying buff heroes were trying to sell me s**t at a convention id be miffed too. Gatekeeping is wrong but I don't think it's fair to say people who are wary of people trying to sell them stuff using sexuality are necessarily misogynist.
Also obviously a lot of gamers are misogynistic and sexist and I've seen my fair share... but I'm saying that I can understand being wary of booth girls and stuff and pro cosplayers. Like for example Overwatch... The Reddit is getting bombarded with female pro cosplayers with only fans accounts. They do play the game but their account is all their onlyfans pics. At first their posts were welcomed. As it happens more and more people are sceptical of them. Basically I feel like people doing the wrong thing is really why people feel the need to vet things now. We're always being manipulated.

I wanted to get fitness expert Jack's take on what foods to go for when losing weight. Going on a new diet can mean that you're constantly feeling hungry which can, in turn, mean that you're more likely to go back to your old snacking and fast-food habits.
Jack told Bored Panda that high satiety foods are key to keeping hunger at bay. "The foods you are eating need to be high in protein and high volume in order to fill you up," he pointed out.
According to Jack, if someone's looking to lose some weight, he recommends weight lifting as a priority when it comes to exercise. However, mixing that together with some cardio "would be optimal," in his opinion.
"Weight lifting is more of the 'long term fix' as when you put on muscle mass, your body burns more calories just at rest. Thus, this makes it much easier to burn fat and keep it off long term," he said.

😂😂😂😂 Thanks a lot for making me spit my drink over my keyboard...
The fitness expert told Bored Panda that if someone's dissatisfied with their life and their health, they need to "get very clear on the CHOICE" they have to make. "You can endure the pain of workouts and different eating habits OR you can endure the pain of obesity, brain fog, poor mood, early death, low energy, medical bills, and low confidence."
He added: "It isn’t much of a choice at the end of the day."
How neckbeards are defined entirely depends on who you ask about them. For some, they’re anime-loving, fake katana-wielding dorks who dream about living in Japan. For others, they’re arrogant jerks and 'incels' who see themselves as better than everyone else and have a sense of entitlement that few can match. Often, neckbeards portray themselves as gentlemen, philosophers, and men of culture. Often… they’re anything but.

Others still associate neckbeards mostly with their exterior characteristics. The iconic fedora. The baggy suits. The overweight physiques. The slightly (fine, fine, more than just ‘slightly’) weird obsession with the ‘My Little Pony’ cartoon. And, of course, the scruffy, unkempt beards on their necks that are a modern version of what’s popular among the Amish community in the US. Each of these things doesn’t mean much in isolation, but when taken together, they paint a picture of someone who may need to work very hard to improve their life.
The r/justneckbeardthings subreddit has been active since late June of 2013 and recently celebrated its 8th birthday.
The moderators have got only 4 rules that members need to follow, including avoiding reposts (“Reposts are for losers,” they explain), not being a neckbeard on Reddit, being nice to turtles (here are a couple of possible explanations for the phrase), and avoiding sharing any and all personal info. Sure, the subreddit might be all about mocking neckbeards, but the mods point out that they don’t want to see any bullying or witch-hunts.

“At the core, neckbeards’ inflated egos and misogynistic attitudes towards women serve as a coping mechanism for personal insecurity and a lack of self-confidence. Such an attitude allows them to place the blame for their failed social interactions on others rather than undertake self-examination and improvement,” writes Urban Dictionary.
“Copious amounts of Mountain Dew, Doritos, video games, and a sedentary lifestyle are all additional hallmarks of the neckbeard ethos.”

Meanwhile, another entry in Urban Dictionary describes neckbeards as “talkative, self-important nerdy men (usually age 30 and up) who, through an inability to properly decode social cues, mistake others' strained tolerance of their blather for evidence of their own charm.”

My partner used to work at a game store and would run MTG games for free on his off time. The way they would thanklessly trash the store every time was infuriating. There was one day he went into the bathroom and there was just piss all over the place. He stopped the entire tourney and made them all come into the bathroom to look at the mess, then had to explain to the group of "grown" men how to properly piss in a toilet. Don't even get me started on the smell in there during those times.

This is probably super confusing without knowing the reference. There was an episode of Rick and Morty where Rick went off on a tangent about the sauce when it was available at McDonalds years ago. I don't find this amusing. I understand that there are people with bad behavior, characteristics, etc. but there is a lot of reference to them being fat and generalizing this "group" in general leaves a bad taste in my mouth. By no means do I condone any of the sexist or homophobic statements and feel those individuals got the comments they deserve. However when others are openly hateful and insulting to a "group" I don't think they are effectively promoting better behavior.
I fit most of the criteria of a neckbeard and still think these posts were hilarious. It's really about their a-hole attitude and their entitlement, and not about looks or interests.

Not too familiar with "neckbeards." Fedoras... Anime... beards... and MAGA hats? Seems like they're simultaneously being called Trumpsters and hipsters, which seems unlikely. But then, I'm an old married guy, so what do I know. It just seems that venting pure hatred upon anyone doesn't seem very cool.
Nobody’s venting pure hatred except the incels. They’re ugly on the inside, they act like women owe them everything and get pissed off when women refuse them, and they refuse to shower. Yes how dare people be annoyed about that.

"It's not nice to be mean to neckbeards" say the comments. To which I reply, check out an incel forum and see how much hate they have for anyone who isn't a straight white male. Being mean to someone for their CHOICE in how they interact with the world is not at all the same as being mean to someone for something they can't control.
Then why is being mean to ugly people (their looks being a thing they can't control) so socially accepted and encouraged?

Appearence, interests and social anxiety (afraid to ask a girl out) aren't the factor to be a neckbeard - it's the personality and behaviour that's to blame.
