40 Cringy Posts Of People “Blinded By Their Own Nostalgia”, As Shared On This Online Community
Nostalgia is a strange creature. It always ties you to a sentimental longing for the seemingly better times when people were nicer, life was easier, and the world simply didn't stink. And let’s be real, nothing brings back happy memories more than an old mixtape. Or a childhood snack. Or a garment that is somehow back in style. These things hold a special place in our sentiment-addled hearts and make us believe everything back in the day was great, wasn't it?
Well, some people get way, way stuck in the past. They yearn for bygone days, decry modern culture, complain about virtually everything, and create countless posts and memes about being left out and misunderstood. And then rightfully get shamed for it online.
Here’s where the 'Le Wrong Generation' subreddit comes in. With the tagline "pray for kanye", this forum is the perfect place to satirically mock those who declare that the past was for sure better than the present. We at Bored Panda have gathered some of the most entertaining posts from the group to share with you right below. So sit back, grab some popcorn, and enjoy laughing through this wild rollercoaster of a ride. Be sure to upvote your favorite pics, and let us know if you’ve ever stumbled upon anything like this in the comments!

They Had Us In The First Part, Not Gonna Lie
Ah, the good old days! No kids volunteer for getting polio or dying of consumption anymore. Bunch of wimps.
The kids don't volunteer now, but idiot parents 'volunteer' them by not getting them vaccinated.
Load More Replies.......i long for the days before 'fire'....no houses, no clothes- just people living in the 'moment'...being chased across the wilderness by sabre toothed tigers.....
Ah yes, the rough ol'days, "kids, quit hunting, gathering and making fires outside and go get in the cave or build a hut to stay in!"
Load More Replies...It's funny. People always complain about kids nowadays being addicted to smartphones and yet back when I was growing up in the 90s (was born in '88) I wasnt outside much either! Sega Genesis and N64 sooo much of the time
I started my first job (on a farm) at age 13. I bought my first car at age 15 and got it in great running condition by the time I got my driver's license at age 16.
Ha ha, we say this all the time, older generations will always complain about something. In the 80s for us it was the bad influence of rock music/MTV. We (mostly) are fine.
I'm gen z and genuinely love gathering wild plants. Adults would always try to say I'm better than those other kids that because I go outside. Jokes on them I got too depressed to go out much and now I play strange horticulture. Edit: and other games of course
J’accuse!
They taught us how to write cursive in primary school saying "you'll need to know how to write like this in high school". Got to high school and haven't used it once
Same! I remember I was horrible at it. I haven't been in high school since '06 and haven't used cursive after that either. All I remember nowadays is how to write my name for signatures
Load More Replies...Kids can Google how to read cursive and drive a stick and they would master it in a month. Boomers can't flip a pdf regardless of how many times they are taught.
Some boomers. I was on Usenet in 1987 and I actually was on the web when you could still count how many websites there were. Grey background and times new romans all of them. I have to admit I made a career of explaining technology to people my age, but my 34-yo daughter with a PhD still calls me for tech support. I am in a post-social media phase right now.
Load More Replies...Just curious, were we supposed to teach ourselves these things? Whenever I see posts with "kids these days don’t know how to (insert random outdated thing)" I wonder why it’s never brought up that no one actually bothered to teach the kids to begin with.
I'm a Gen X mom. My son is 22 and was taught cursive in primary school and used it all through high school. I tried teaching my son how to drive a stick shift on more than one occasion, he hated it , couldn't get past 2nd gear etc. Brilliant young man , recently graduated Magna Cum Laude from University but cannot drive a stick shift . I personally think it's because he was given a choice . I wasn't. I was told if I wanted to drive it was a manual 5 speed or buy my own car at 16. I never did that to my son. He couldn't drive a stick so I got him an automatic.
Load More Replies...cripple *USA* maybe. Most of the rest of the world cursive and manual gearboxes are normal. In the UK, most people learn in a manual, you can choose to learn in an Automatic but then are restricted to automatic cars only once you've passed your test. all the same, why use something inferior? It IS easier to read non cursive, and automatics ARE better for most people on the daily.
Upvoted because you're right, with the caveat that it's easier to write in cursive. I can't imagine keeping up with taking notes otherwise (and having a laptop nearby is not always handy).
Load More Replies...My boyfriend, when we just started dating asked me to drive his car because he was tired. I try to start driving but I'm having alot of trouble. The car kept revving but wouldn't move, I kept slamming on the brakes by accident. His car was an automatic and I'd only ever driven stick. So I kept accidently putting in neutral or park and driving with both feet. It took me a minute to get used to it haha
I remember driving my first automatic. My left foot kept wanting to push something and my hand would randomly go to the shifter. Got used to it pretty quickly though.
Load More Replies...I'd love to learn to drive manual. I'm 36, and since I could drive, the only manual cars my family has had are my dad's classic cars. I don't know why he doesn't want me learn on those /s
Really? I'm 33 and 3 of my cars have been manual.
Load More Replies...I am 63 and I can neither write nor read my own cursive. Stick shift I am good. I can actually double clutch and Heel & Toe. So can my daughter though. We took driving seriously.
All my niblings can read and write cursive. All who are old enough to drive can also drive a manual.
Load More Replies...I'm from that generation and I can't even drive stick...but I taught my daughter cursive!
Le Counterargument
We've been trying to avoid talking to random strangers for centuries. Understandable.
I, for one, couldn't wait for the news to become digital. The mistake they made, back in the 90s, was to make their digital editions free, as if technology wasn't going to catch up and force them to put the whole thing in reverse and try to educate people (including boomers like myself) that news gathering is an expensive business. It's not like we didn't have precursors to the Smartphone. I was given a Apple Newton from my company back in 1994 or so. It didn't take a genius to figure out that one day they'd be able to cram a phone and a music player into one. Cameras took me by surprise. I have to admit.

Well considering newspapers were a product of technology at one point I guess we can still blame technology.
"This is a subreddit dedicated to satirically mocking those people who, blinded by their own nostalgia, believe certain things in the past to be unequivocally better than today," the moderators write in the subreddit’s description as they welcome members into the page. "We place a special emphasis on music because this subreddit was created after annoyance over 'born in the wrong generation' attitude often expressed by fans of 60s/70s rock."
This online group graced the internet in 2013 and has gained a strong foothold on the platform. At the time of writing, it has amassed over 302k dedicated fans eager to ridicule anyone who feels proud of their quasi-nostalgic attitudes, whether it relates to music, video games, film, other media, or societal trends in general.
In short, they mock people who wish they were born back in the good old days when real music (read: classic rock) and real art ruled the ears and minds of every civilian. 'Le wrong generation' people believe that everything made before their time was far better, and display hypocrisy by bemoaning the generation they live in and stereotyping everyone as rude, narcissistic, and tech-addicted.

Yeah but I remember Limp Bizkit the first time round and they were s**t then, too. Give me RATM any day.
Let’s all be free to like whatever we like and not worry about others.
Wonderful how the comments continue the dissing of some one else's musical taste. To what purpose? We all like what we like, and have a tendency to prefer the stuff that was popular when we became aware of popular music.
I love it all. Music is amazing. I listen to classical, classic rock, pop and hip hop, metal, all of it. give me.
"I'm Only 15 And I Listen To Nirvana, I'm Born In The Wrong Generation"
*listens to classical music written in the 1700s while wearing full American Revolutionary War regalia* "I was born in the wrong generation!"
I love the Beatles but Lord knows I do not want to be part of that generation
I don't know why anyone downvoted you. Being a young person in the '60s wasn't all that. Most people owned very few clothes, you made do with what was in your wardrobe and maybe had one "going out" outfit to your name. Many people were living with fathers, uncles or grandfathers who were suffering from untreated PTSD, which was a constant strain. Children were still dying from diseases which are barely mentioned now. It's so easy to romanticise the past.

According to the internet database Know Your Meme, 'Le Wrong Generation' is a pejorative label that refers to youths and young adults who show contempt for popular contemporary culture.
The earliest known use of the term was posted in 2013 in a thread on 4chan's music board about a YouTube video of a child complaining about — you guessed it — being born in the wrong generation. The phrase quickly caught on after the subreddit in question was launched to satirize people who consider old culture superior and belittle anything current.
Much Needed Opinion
I love David Bowie. As much as I would have loved have lived in the 1970s in his Ziggy era, I am glad I have the technology to listen on repeat.
We can listen to any song, by any artist we choose, at any given moment. We can listen to quality music on quality speakers. People hundreds of years ago would only be able to hear local live music. We can listen to ANYTHING we want to.
You wouldn't like it. The smells for one. Everyone smoked, deodorants were *not* very good, and most people didn't bathe anywhere near as often as we do now. Clothes were washed less frequently, and there was no Febreze or anything to help with the items that couldn't be home laundered like wool coats.

Load More Replies...I used to go to a library as a child and I saw how kids treated books - there were books with torn pages, with scribbles, with grease stains, tea stains, with boogers stuck to pages. Kids are nasty. Let them use their smartphones.
idk when kids stopped being taught to respect property but in recent years it’s become ridiculous, like someone breaks something whil i’m hanging out with them that’s not theirs, i’m stressing about it, and they’re like it’s fine the other ppl will fix it if we don’t tell them who broke it 😭 i’m not saying i’m better than them by being concerned but i wish they were too

With my smartphone I have a wealth of knowledge at my fingertips….and I use it to watch cat videos and make b*tchy posts on message boards.
Yeah but who using smartphones to be knowledgeable? We go on social media instead
Load More Replies...I don't understand exclusivity in media and platform choice. Why get mad because someone loves the same thing as you but doesn't consume it the same way? Hearing "I love you" is awesome live, via text, or played on a cassette.
Some people want to make themselves feel superior by tearing others down. They don't realize that they just make themselves look like an a$$. I still get this all the time for preferring ebooks to print books. I get told that they're soulless, I'm soulless. How can I not love paper books? Clearly I don't love reading as much as they do. Look dude, I'm not getting on you for being emotionally attached to material objects. Weird to me, but fine. You don't have to feel how I feel. Give me the same courtesy. Most paper books I've had were simply means of getting text into my mind. They weren't lovingly crafted, artisan bound tomes. They were ephemeral items. I am not emotionally attached to them. These same people would never be so rude to insult me in other ways, but say I prefer eink to paper, and now my entire moral fabric is in question and they will practically scream it at me with no thought of how incredibly offensive that is.
Load More Replies...I love books. However, when I recycled my old imac, I got store credit towards hardware, so I got an ipod, and as an experiment I loaded up kindle and bought a book to see if it would work. Now I prefer it because it's easier to read on a train than a paper book because I can hold my ipod in one hand and read while still holding one of the hand-rings on the train. Plus, I carry all my books with me, so when I finish one book, I can just start rereading a book I've already read, or if I'm lucky, I've already bought the next book to read. ALSO, I can use a dyslexia-friendly font, that makes it easier to read.
No young person could fool me with that gobbledygook. Hahaha. Stupid kids.
Fricking Millennials Calling And Texting Their Loved Ones And Telling Them They Became World Champions
Right! They are communicating with loved ones and they are jerks for that somehow?!
Load More Replies...What are they supposed to do? Stare silently at the wall hoping that their friends and family drive over to congratulate them? I am not sure what the point is here. Back in the day, we called from a public phone. All these guys would have been standing in line at the only boot with a working phone yelling at the guy inside to hurry up.
They expect Canadians to be more modest than that. "Mom, we won. Poutine for dinner?"
You mean Wladimir Poutine?(yes, it's spelled that way in French) No thanks, I'll pass, the meat must be tough and the taste disgusting. Probably full of chemicals, too.
Load More Replies...Damn young'ns these days, actually taking a moment to relax after a grueling competition. Sheesh.
I say a lot of them are replying to text, social media comments and calling family and friends congratulating them.
Guys in the Vietnam War had to wait for letters or they had to send a telegram thru the MARS station. If the shortwave radio signals weren't right, it could take days or weeks to get a message home.
Is there something wrong with sharing good fortune with your friends and family? It's why we have mobiles ffs!
1 picture taken at one moment, means nothing. Who says they weren't cheerful when going into the locker room? Or that they aren't excited now and typing/calling loved ones?
It’s hardly surprising why so many people deem these proclamations as hypocritical. After all, day by day, hour by hour, our world is constantly changing. There are heaps of advancements in technology, medicine, human rights, equality, and much much more, that make life better. So when the hatred for the modern era becomes some people’s sole mission, listening to their rants (which often occur online, ironically) gets annoying. Not to mention that when people begin to "live" in the past, it can compromise their well-being.
Killing The Doorbell Industry
Whatever happened to knocking? Did it get broken and i didn't notice while i aged?
The knocking industry was killed by the doorbell industry.

Well, the doorbell industry killed the "Standing Outside the House and Yelling" industry.

Load More Replies...It's more likely that men in 1890 got killed by bear hands. There's a reason Daniel Boone used a rifle and not opera gloves.
You might be surprised how long people used to live. A number of my ancestors who were born in the early-to-mid 19th century lived to be over 90 years old. My great-great grandfather, for example, was born in the 1830s, was shot in the face during The Civil War, and lived to the late 1920s.
That's the problem when it comes to most of historical medians of lifespan. In statistics there was also included mortality among newborns and young children which, in general, was much, much higher than nowadays - which resulted in a low life expectancy in the statistics. Actually, if you were lucky enough to survive the childhood, it was quite likely that you'll reach an old age. Well, maybe not AS old age as today but only slightly younger.

Of course, feeling nostalgic and appreciating the lifestyles of the previous decades is nothing wrong in itself. The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines the state of nostalgia in part as "a wistful or excessively sentimental yearning for a return to or of some past period or irrecoverable condition". Or, in other words, longing for how things once were.
Although we now associate the term with fond memory, the word was coined to refer to an unwanted medical condition — a mania tied to homesickness in soldiers. The nost- in nostalgia means "homecoming," and the –algia means "pain". This sentimental yearning for home was viewed as a disorder of the brain, "with symptoms ranging from melancholy and malnutrition to brain fever and hallucinations."

Le Sigh
When I was a kid in the 1980s wishing I had been born in the 1950s I used to wonder what it would be like in the 2010s when people would be nostalgic for the 1980s. Everything about the era seemed so tacky I had trouble imagining what people would think was cool about it. Now I know
This post is infuriating. I wish people would lay off the kids. We used to be the kids. All the negative stereotypes of the teen years apply to most teens, past, present, and future; it's part of self-development and a very natural, normal thing. Older people who complain about younger generations and their tastes show that some people are stuck in that immature, self-absorbed, narrow-minded phase and that is WAY scarier than any teenager I've ever met!
Wait til there's a Supreme Court Justice or Prime Minister named 'Tiffany.'
Have you ever smelled a pair of UGGs after a dozen wearings? There will never be vintage Uggs
There’s an abundance of evidence that proves that reminiscing about the past can indeed be good for you. Andrea Brandt Ph.D. M.F.T., a marriage and family therapist with over 35 years of clinical experience, explained that nostalgia is different from simply remembering things that happened in the past, which can sometimes make us feel sad. It usually boosts our well-being because it’s a comparison-free way of looking at the bygone days.
"When we think about meaningful life events that trigger our nostalgia response, it helps make meaning of our lives," she wrote. "We form a narrative about who we are, who we've been, who we'd like to become and where we've been, where we are now, and where we'd like to go. The story we tell ourselves about ourselves is vital to our well-being."

Moreover, Taylor FioRito and Clay Routledge from North Dakota State University noted that nostalgia is a common, universal, and highly social-emotional experience. "When people bring to mind memories that make them nostalgic, they are revisiting personally meaningful life events shared with loved ones."
The researchers explained that negative affective states such as sadness, loneliness, and meaninglessness trigger nostalgia, and it, in turn, enhances well-being, feelings of social connectedness, and perceptions of meaning in life. "Nostalgia involves reflecting on past experiences but it motivates affective states, behaviors, and goals that improve people's future lives."

Only 2000 BC Boomers Will Remember
Cicero wrote more than an essay about how much he despised the young generations in Rome. Nothing profound either, he complained about haircuts, dress, manner of speech. Basically the same things people complain about their young generation today. It's quite weird. We are talking ancient Rome, but Cicero disapproved of haircuts.
Socrates, four hundred years before Cicero: "They have bad manners, contempt for authority; they show disrespect for elders and love chatter in place of exercise. They no longer rise when elders enter the room, they contradict their parents and tyrannize their teachers. Children are now tyrants."

Argument doesn’t hold water. Two completely different dogs, bred for completely different things. A German Shepherd today—-as well as in the future—-would be more likely to ride in a tank than a Yorkshire Terrier. I doubt there were ever any Yorkie war dogs.
Yorkie Doodle Dandy aka Smoky is credited with being the first combat therapy dog. She was sent into combat in New Guinea during WW2. Her actions are often credited for the explosion of interest in Yorkies because of the many stories written about her.

However, while it may seem that nostalgia is a primarily positive emotion that lifts people’s spirits, psychologists at USC Dornsife College of Letters, Arts and Sciences have found the opposite may be true. They discovered that in previous studies, participants were usually asked to recall past events that made them feel most nostalgic, which usually lead to recalling positive and fond memories.
"When people are asked to describe something that makes them feel very nostalgic, the positive elements dominate," David Newman, the study’s lead author and a Ph.D. candidate at USC Dornsife, said. "They think of a pleasant past experience, and the memories they bring to mind have a positive influence on how they see their own life."
According to the research team, this approach overlooks that people may have different memories depending on their mood — whether they’re experiencing a good or a bad day. They decided to conduct several studies that look into how frequently people may feel nostalgic and how intense their feelings are in daily life. So they reached out to 230 undergraduate students to participate in diary studies and complete daily questionnaires for 14 days.

Since no other information is given, we must assume the information provided is sufficient to calculate the area and that the cutout radii in the corners are measured from the phantom corners of the rectangle. Assuming the radiused corners are R4 (because I can't quite read it), the surface area is 494.958

Listening To Two Of The Most Popular Bands Of All Time Makes You Interesting
I've met a few people like this sadly. "I'm so different to everyone else because I listen to rock music. I'm the only person in the world to listen to rock music, even though rock music has been around since the 50's. It doesn't matter that Queen were one of the biggest and most famous bands in the world, no-one listens to them other than me. I'm their only fan. I've got the t-shirt and everything. Freddie Mercury was my best mate even though he died before I was born, that's how big a fan I am."
Queen is my favorite band of all time.. and I love Pink Floyd. But if you only listened to those two (or any two) bands/artists you'd be one tedious F.
I'm in my 50's. When I tell people my fav band is NIN/Trent Reznor, they boo and hiss at me, throw up the cross symbol with their fingers, hoping my my head doesn't spin like the spawn of Satan they see me as! LOL!

"Nostalgia is a mixed emotion," Newman said. "It also is negative. We found that people are most likely to think of the good old days when something goes wrong in the present."
Moreover, people reported feeling more stressed, depressed, and lonely on days when they felt nostalgic. They also expressed more regret and rumination, lower self-esteem, and dissatisfaction with their life. "These negative experiences colored nostalgia in a negative light,” Newman added.
However, the psychologists also found a positive connection "when they had helped others, were reminded of old friendships or music, felt inspired and engaged in social media use".

Engineers Are Bad
How did ancient people make their roads so resistant to thousands of trucks and cars passing them every day? They must have been geniuses.
Heavy trucks do most of the damage to roads. Romans didn't have to worry about vehicles that weigh tens of thousands of pounds.
Ever driven on the Appian way? The part that still has the original stones? I thought any moment a spring would come through the firewall.
Ancient Rome had engineers. Aside from the fact that the Romans didn’t have to deal with 10 ton vehicles moving in excess of 50 mph, one of the other reasons the roads have lasted is the amount of material that went into constructing them. That guy on the right is atleast waist deep. The asphalt road in the bottom picture is probably only about 10” / 20 cm thick.
Indeed, the word "engineer" has Latin roots.
Load More Replies...Fun fact - Ancient Roman roads were primarily built and maintained by the military (specifically the legions who weren't currently on campaign). In that respect, the Roman military was also a provider of certain civic services.
Load More Replies...Reminding everyone that these Roman built roads had deep ruts from the wagon wheels on the stones. Same as old stone steps having deep hollowed centres from all the feet climbing them over the years. Signed, a woman who grew up near Hadrian's wall and has seen the ruts and whose city has stone stairs old enough to show the wear.
The fact that cities can't afford road repairs has exactly what to do with enineers?
Granted, there wasn't that much traffic of wooden-wheeled carts drawn by oxen, mules, etc., but today's roads are built by the lowest bidder who cuts corners. Road surfaces aren't as resilient to congestive traffic and heavy trucks.
Current road construction materials are not used for their longevity, they are used because it's the best material for the intended purpose. The asphalt we use is cheap, abundant, easy to build with, has excellent traction for high speed traffic, and is cheap and easy to maintain (of you actually do the maintenance). Stone is a terrible material to build roads out of for modern traffic. It's expensive and labor/time consuming to build, and maintain and has terrible traction which gets worse over time or when wet. The issue with roads (particularly in the US), is political in nature and not due to engineering (no one wants to pay for the maintenance). The Romans knew that the only way to maintain their political dominance was to keep the main roads connecting the empire in good repair.

Poor Millennials
It really annoys me when people say millennials are offended by everything and are too soft. No, we've realised that good mental health and having boundaries is important, and that bigotry towards people for skin colour, religion, gender and sexuality isn't ok. If a millennial is being called lazy for refusing to work 70 hours a week for a barely living wage, or if a gay person is offended by being called a homophobic slur then they aren't the ones that need to look at their values or attitudes. I'm a student nurse and can't tell you how many 'old school' nurses complain how today's students moan too much. Easy to say when their generation were being paid a living wage to train and didn't have to pay extortionate tuition fees. Side note- the guy in the photo is clearly from the millennial generation.
...you're kinda making this guys point though. You saw a picture of a guy in what I presume is a halloween costume then went on a 100+ word rant about how offensive it was.

GenX is kicking back on their couch with snacks and acting indifferent about all the rants in the comments of this post.
This is very accurate. I talk with younger people and some can't even understand cynicism, even when you go to the absurd they explain why you wrong. I played an online game, and this guy "killed" an animal in the game, like some added wildlife, and I say "hey that's animal cruelty", and he started explaining to me that this isn't a real animal so it can't be cruelty and if it was real he never have done it. it's so funny, this generation really fear to be "wrong" and look bad.
It's the older ones I find are likely to be super sensitive, because they don't actually understand it so tend to err on the side of caution so that they don't get called out

Pretty Sure Most People Know Both
In the UK almost all cars are manual. We can decide when learning to drive to do automatic or manual but if you choose automatic you aren't allowed to drive manual, and if you choose manual you can drive both. So most people still choose manual. Including this millennial right here 💪
Is this an US-vs-Europe-thing again? In Germany you had to decide till a couple of years ago whether you want to drive stick shift AND automatic cars in your future OR just automatic cars. They probably only got rid of this distinction because driving schools rely more and more on electric cars (= automatic). Cursive is still taught in elementary school as well and I doubt this will change any time soon.
US-vs-Europe? Come on, JJ, sometimes a joke is just a joke. The number of American movies I have seen where the protagonist yells, "but I can't drive a stick shift!" while hijacking a car is gigantic! Plus, in some countries, if you took your driving exam in an automatic you weren't allowed to drive a stick shift for five years. After that, allez votre corridor.
Load More Replies...In Portugal, we all have to learn to drive manual to get our licenses, and it's the same in a lot of other countries.
I never owned an automatic. I have derealization and depersonalization from PTSD. It can be dangerous when it's bad. I think life is a video game and will do reckless things. Having a stick shift car and paying more attention to RPMs and the vibration of the car and involving both of my feet actually keeps me alert and makes me feel less like I'm in a video game and I can just drive my car off of a cliff and everything will be alright
Oh please! I'm Gen X and hardly anyone my age that I know can drive a stick. I don't think any of us even had a manual car in high school. Maybe one person? We all just drove whatever extra car our family had available. I drove my mom's big white minivan until I was able to get my own car.
Gen X, too. All people I know know how to drive stick (even those who are Millenial or Gen Z) because in Germany, that's the main transmission in the cars. It's hard NOT to know how o drive it, so it's less a generational but more a geographical thing.

On the other hand modern R&B, Grime and Rap leave me cold BUT I’m delighted there’s folk out there that love it. I can’t imagine a world in which we didn’t have music that represented the shapes, sizes, colours and leanings of everyone, everyone needs that tune which brings calm or solace or happiness or that just makes them want to dance. It’s a broad church and I’m happy that we all get to be part of it without qualification. Music gathers people together, it brings peace, it unites and brings joy. Codgers to the left of me, toddlers to the right, here I am, X in the middle with you.
I don't think they hate boomers. Online in internet land is this a thing.
I don’t think we necessarily hate boomers, but do think there is a generational gap there that can be quite damaging in some cases. I’m trans and I’ve had more hate/ pushback from boomers than anyone else, likely because it wasn’t really a thing in their day. I think its more a lack of understanding/education than anything else. When you don’t grow up with the understanding it can be quite confusing/ downright weird. My parents are boomers, and I’ve had friends who are too. They just don’t get it because it wasn’t a *thing* for them. What’s normal for us isn’t for them.

How do you know it made you more creative and inquisitive, with deeper thought-processing skills? Are there studies to prove it?
Load More Replies......Was it better than Mario though? I genuinely need to know this.
It's a tie I think. Out of all my Christmases as a kid the one where we got a Nintendo is still my favorite but as a Gen Xer we spent so much time outside having a blast and yes playing in mud and making mud pies was part of that. Idk I loved both.

Seriously!! Every generation had positives and negatives. Times change, some good changes, some not so good.

Strange how in a world were we are constantly told that we should all be equal (and dare we disagree against this) we are then told in a proud and boastful way that we are most definitely not, and in a weirdly contradictory and polarising damaging way by the exact same people. We do live in bizare times...
There's a simple reason why people think music was better in the past and that's because people only remember the good stuff and forget all of the c**p.
Absolutely right! I spent three days educating myself on 70's country and now I have PTSD.
Load More Replies...I enjoy how this nonsense has been going on for literally all of recorded history. There has never been a time where aging generations weren't bitching about the next one.
i mean most of these are satire and not cringy, but i get what you mean
Boomers: kids today Millennials: ok boomer Gen X: would you two shut the f up
I have been on this planet more than a few decades and I still don’t understand why it has to be “us against them”.
