That's probably because Germany legally considers Scientology to be a business masquerading as a religion and considers its values to contradict certain provisions of the German constitution. So if this employer works with the government on any contract or with other religions (which unlike Scientology are tax exempt) it may need to cover its a*s and make sure it is not in any way associated with scientology.

I’m all for freedom of religion, but I’m not all for scamming people. L. Ron Hubbard admitted in a letter to a friend that he made his comic series which would become the basis of Scientology a religion for financial gain. It’s been a while since I have read the exact details on that claim, but I will never forget it and I’m pretty sure the letter is linked somewhere on Wikipedia.

What do you think Catholicism is. All religion is scamming people and Scientology came from dianetics a self help book L. Ron Hubbard wrote which he later turned in to a religion

They should have free condoms as well. Having free emergency contraception, but paying for condoms will have the unintended consequence of increasing unprotected sex, and thus STIs.

Most universities (in the US) do actually have free condoms, many offer free contraception in general, some have free clinics (basic stuff, obviously). Most universities do actually try to meet these needs, not all do it with the least cost possible, but many do.

For some people, putting on makeup could be a fun activity to incorporate in their day, but for others it’s a chore. Some might love trying out new recipes while they cook, while others might get too overwhelmed by that. Choose what suits your desires and schedule.

Once you know what lifts your mood, start incorporating small changes into your routine. Listen to new music when you can—it might help you discover an artist you like. Wear something different and bold. This could mean adding more color to your wardrobe or getting a few fun accessories to spice up your outfits.

This is why so many black people with kinky hair can only get so long unless it stays stretched. Our hair curls in on itself and where the knots form become a weakened place. It breaks off right there. Many of us don't know this.

When looking at your routines, you might find that there are things you do in your day that eats up your free time. This could be your phone, TV, or the lack of simple organization. Whatever it may be, once you eliminate it, you can use that time to do something you actually enjoy. So, instead of mindlessly watching the old familiar show because the TV is on, you might tune into a new one or catch up on your reading.

Adding more fun to your morning routine can improve the attitude for the rest of your day. Maybe that means turning on some music while you take a shower. Or, it could be doing some easy stretches when you step out of bed to get your blood flowing. Include an easy skincare routine, add a quick morning walk, try out journaling, or a dose of meditation and breathing exercises. Whatever makes you feel happy!

I honestly hate this. Corporate America deems anything less than perfect to be deserving of punishment. When I talk to insurance companies, which is often, they always have me 'rate my experience'. I WANT to rate 1/5 because you shouldn't be denying claims/leaving basic information out of your fax/etc. So i shouldn't have to wait 2 hours on hold for a 1 minute question. So my experience sucked a*s but it's not the reps fault you as a company suck. But I know if I vote anything less than perfect or if not enough people leave feedback that poor, underpaid soul gets pulled into an office for a 'review' meeting. 🙄 Does middle/upper management not see how asinine this is?

You can also experiment with changing your looks. This could be a new haircut, new nails, or new make-up. Granted, one cannot get a new haircut every day, but you can try out new ways to style your hair ever so often. Just put on a make-over-fitting playlist and have fun.

Absolutely fake; I've never seen an antique sampler remotely like this. In 1805, this "juvenile-style" font would never have been acceptable for stitchery, even if the child did in fact write like that in school; a girl of nine would have been learning to stitich for years already and following a pattern that planned out the letters in a clear script in advance. Also, Megan would have been a rare name outside of Wales at that time, and this uses the American spelling of "honor."

I think this is fake for a few reasons, but mainly because children of the time were exclusively taught cursive not print.

Modern stitchery …circa late 1980s-2000s. It might be using an old sentiment, but the work itself is clearly new. If the shop put it out for sale as an antique, shame on them …and hope it didn’t sell to a unaware customer.

Teratomas are tumors, largely theorized to be "fetus in fetu" where one twin (or in this case triplet) absorbs the others OR the initial dividing fetus cells only partially separate in utero. They often have teeth, partial bones, hair etc... I had the questionable pleasure of encountering one in the hospital histology lab.

Maybe science can study why they grow and use what they learn to grow other parts like kidneys, lungs, hearts, eyes. So many people are waiting and hoping to receive donated organs and if they could be grown in a lab, that would help.

"Teratomas are tumors made up of tissues, such as hair, muscle, and bone. They occur most often in the ovaries in women, and the testicles in men". So if you have testicles capable of giving hickies, there will no second date.

Changing up your surroundings can also bring more fun into your day. This could be putting up art or pictures on your walls, getting a new houseplant, or freshening it all up with a bouquet of flowers. You can also venture into more serious endeavors and rearrange the furniture in your space, but do so with caution—you do not want a little bit of fun to start causing you headaches.

The pin prick test id the next step up, where I live, but it costs money, unlike the first test. I've been tossing up whether to take it because of cost. I wasn't aware there was another blood test, now I will have to ask my doctor about it. I already know I am allergic to eucalypt, pine trees, ti tree, orange oil, lavender and prawns...

I worked in a hotel that had similar signage. Our signs just explained which branded machines are available on certain floors. All of our drink machines also had bottled water (Dasani in Coke machines, Aquafina in Pepsi). Then we had two non-branded water and juice machines on two floors that had multiple brands the way the snack/food machines do.

So if I am on the 7 floor I would have to go all the way to the first floor just to get a bottle of water so sad I hate riding elevators but at least the machines are near so I don’t have to walk far.

This is most likely green washing. The environmental costs of making these from wood is most likely higher than using recycled plastic, and unless that wood has been impregnated with some kind or resin (which is made from petroleum), it will last only a tiny fraction of the time a plastic one would before needing replacement.

Skin folding with finger movement. If you cannot flex your fingers, you don't develop finger creases. If you have longer fingers, you can develop multiple sets of creases as more skin folds during ordinary movement.

It's obv not on par with actually going to jail, but still a punishment. That's why they're wearing a hat and glasses so they can try to hide their identity. It's pretty obvious that they don't want anyone to recognize them..what r they supposed to do while sitting there? Cry and beg for forgiveness?

Chillicothe was the first (and third) capital city of Ohio. It's a pretty small town, but was once a center of the mound-building Hopewell civilization.

Reminds me of when I was in high school (expensive private, not even publicly funded) and we were required to complete X number of community service hours per year. Wherever my sister and I volunteered all the others were grown adults, and we'd get asked, "what are you in here for?" "Uh, high school" (all the adults were there to fulfill a court order as part of their criminal sentence.)

Only if you adjust for consumer price index- which only really works for commodities. That doesn't take into account the relationship between that wealth and the GDP- which takes into account income distribution. If you use that (more appropriate in this case) measure, it's more like he equivalent today of someone spending $55,000 of their money.

So apparently if one was absent for a month or more, they could only have their privileges restored, if they found a respectable gentleman in their neighborhood that would testify and produce a certificate, on their behalf that they were on their best behavior during said absence. Or they could pass a satisfactory exam.

An UPDATE: I read the OP thread and other incidental posts by OP. The pic above was taken about 2 weeks before being posted. The day after the pic was posted, the extra teeth fell out. Two vets at different vet clinics confirmed that this condition is very normal in young cats (this one is 6 mo old) and that the teeth falling out on their own was also normal, as is the concomitant inflammation. Any residual inflammation will be treated, but may resolve on its own, and no surgery is needed at this time. This gentleman OP took an awful lot of grief from other posters in the original thread, which is a shame because OP rescued them and cares for local strays too.

They are invariably from 1990-1999. I wonder was there something different about the ones from then compared to later ones that went the way of most balloons and deflated within weeks/months

I sort of like the idea. But to truly celebrate the survivors and point out the issues, then lung cancers and colorectal cancers should also have their own areas. They both kill more people and are also cancers where lifestyle plays a big part, so awareness is just as important. Don't just do one area because it's good for social media.

I had this in April. You need to drink a lot, take laxatives and suck on candy a lot so all your fluids (saliva, urine) and bowels empty as fast as possible to avoid radiation damage. I was isolated for 3 days and stayed alone for another week as it was recommended to. You have to avoid small children and pregnant women especially. It was scary indeed but it seems it worked, thank goodness.

I was at TJ and I bought a pair of Levi jeans in my size according to the tag on the back. Got home, they fit and not long after wore them to work. I was shocked when I tried putting something in my pocket. It was one inch deep. I thought it was sewn up. Then a co worker told me. I had no idea they were women's. Yall need to revolt over this outrageous debacle of epic proportions. Truth.

Actually it's not. Any bank can order you $2s from the Federal Reserve if you ask them to. I kept a $2 bill until I worked as a bank Teller and realized that.

They are in countries other than the USA. Australian $2 notes haven't been produced since 1988. Just checking, still legal tender, accepted by most major banks.

Canada: Printing of the $2 note ceased on February 18, 1996, with initial release of the toonie, a coin that replaced it. (our Loonie is $1 because it has an image of a loon - one of our northern water birds; somehow, the $2 coin became a Toonie, even though it had a Polar Bear on it ...)

That's a standard 12oz can, which means those are most likely 375ml bottles which is 12.7oz and the OP isn't accounting for the fact that those bottles leave some amount of empty space in the neck.

People look at these situations in a vacuum, as if there hasn't been years of cumulative undue stress, rage, conflict, extra work and lost profits due to the fact that soooo many parents today are absolute trash. You could have the most well behaved kid in the world, it's not going to make the other 99 monsters that came before any less terrible, and if you start making exceptions for the good ones it just gives the dip$hits ammunition to launch a smear campaign on socials in retaliation....because that's what $hitty people do now. They can't fathom that they, or their little angels could be the problem, it's everyone else for not acknowledging how special, and perfect they are.

As for why: it is a narrow, deep undercut course of caves, underground tunnels, fast flowing waterfalls, and rapids. Falling in could not only mean death, bt the likelihood that your body won't be found.

The picture doesn’t do justice to how fast the water surges through the narrow channel. And the noise is deafening. It’s a lovely walk up to the Strid. The start of the trail is where I got stung by a nest full of very angry wasps.

Found this "small and innocuous-looking, it is known as Bolton Strid, or just the Strid. A deep chasm lies below the water's surface and anyone who falls in it will have their life taken from them. It is believed that no one who has fallen into the Strid has ever survived." That explains it I guess.

Boarded up does NOT mean empty. Typically, the people who stay in abandoned houses are desperate (drug addicts, people hiding from the law, etc.) and have no problem taking advantage of anyone who looks vulnerable or like a person of means. This is just reality. No need to be jerk about it. It's not safe. Hard stop. Just take your "outrage" somewhere else, no one cares that you need people to think you are a social justice warrior...

My favorite drink: fresh brewed, unsweetened iced tea. How to screw it up: put it in a bottle/jug/can and sell it, jars of powdered, instant iced tea, or - and this is by far the worst- the European version where they put some sickeningly syrupy concoction in a soda fountain in a restaurant and carbonate it- sorry that is just wrong, EU. Very wrong and it mystifies me considering that usually EU is pretty much on the ball, food wise.

There is a lot of this going on here in Toronto, though I don't think I've seen an example quite so completely enclosed. Legally, heritage status only protects the facade of the building, so developers incorporate the facades or portions of the heritage property into their new builds. Not ideal, but in some cases, at least, preferrable to losing the architectural heritage entirely (much better when it builds dearly-needed affordable rental or supportive housing, though, rather than ever more tiny condos). There is a site near me where one of the Victorian townhouses spent a couple of years on some sort of frame being moved around periodically to accomodate the foundation work in a tight space.

Incorrect. Impurities within the structure can cause luminance under UV light. Roughly 35% of white diamonds will react under UV, with the reaction ranging from faint, to very bright.

Was it an animated snowglobe? I have repaired several of them over the years. They use two magnets to generate the swirling effect, and the magnet inside the globe is encased in nylon plastic. Over time water migrates through the plastic and causes the magnet to rust, releasing yellowish orange rust.

My husband's back teeth are still his baby teeth (he's 37) and my oldest actually grew an extra baby tooth for one of his front teeth. He had to get it surgically removed so that his adult tooth could grow in. It messed up that half of his mouth, including his jaw, but after 10k in orthodontics his teeth/mouth are in great shape!

Same if you fly into Reno. Like anywhere in Nevada. Just about every place you go has at least one slot machine. The difference between the two sides of Tahoe is the most striking example—-including one side of the Cal-Neva lodge to the other!

If I were Bryce's parent, I would be extremely upset, regardless of my personal beliefs. Was this "the school" that did this, or the teacher? Not the same thing.

As a Christian, I find that the disrespect for my religion (I am not an extremist or a zealot) has become the last acceptable form of bigotry. If that cookie said something about Allah, someone would have freaked out! (Charlie Hebdo memories?). It's only fair to treat all religions with respect and if you don't believe that and you're a lib, you're a hypocrite.

You'd get more respect if you kept your religion to yourself.

The difference is yours had the weights to keep it from moving around. This was a scam product made to deceive you just long enough that the return period would expire. This particular scam has been going on since the beginning of USB drives. They sell you an absolutely massive drive for a suspiciously low price, and its actually a tiny drive with hacked firmware that just overwrites your files again and again, reporting a huge capacity but any data you put on it just disappears.

The world is insane. I'mimgaining someone going to a rural area abd asking, "Will you trade your home, wait for it, this diamond ring? You can't do anything with it, but I bought it for the same price.". Like, what a mind f**k.

I work in a call center and these pods are used for having a quiet space to take video meetings, have a 1 on 1 with your manager and things like that

So people can tell they are in use I expect. They are just intended to be soundproof, good for small meetings or private phonecalls.

This is not an automatic transmission, this is an automated manual transmission (so, a manual car/stick).
