Instagram Account Showcases How Good Design Can Transform A Space And Here Are 30 Of The Best Before & After Pics (New Pics)
The pandemic had a massive impact on the way we see our lives and many of us had to make the shift to working or schooling remotely. Constantly sitting at the same desk or looking at the same wall can leave us feeling sick and tired. No wonder that so many people had the irresistible desire to tear everything down and re-do their living spaces out of sheer boredom.
If you're one of them, one place where you can find inspiration for such makeovers is an Instagram account called Before&After Design. With over 1.6M followers, it's a massive gallery showing how to completely transform your house, backyard, or even your van. Full of entertaining videos and the most breathtaking renovations, it's the place to look for different styles and cool interior ideas.
If you wish to receive your daily dose of inspiration, just keep on scrolling! And when you're done, don't forget to check out Bored Panda's previous article on before-and-after pictures of the best house renovations.

It wouldn't really tell us much. Prices vary by country and even by city; how do you value your own time; etc. Sometimes it's just nice to enjoy the transformation :)
Load More Replies...I think this was done quite cheaply - brown paint on the right, pallet wall in the rear with plants (can't tell if real or artificial) basic 2 seat sofa, and bench with few plants in pots to left & right and some string lights - very good conversion on a budget
Fake wall of greenery in the back. Could be done, all told, for $1,500.
Question ❓⁉️ who's been following me around like a puppy has it been my family has it been a perfect stranger has it been a Bigfoot kind of curious I know somebody has because they're asking about it things on my daughters Facebook not mine that's okay I'm okay with that I guess Merry Christmas Happy New Year happy holidays love you love amen.
Every place I see has inspiration to me every place has an inner peace whether it's inside or outside alongside the road or up above the world's so high there's plenty of places inspiration we have to look as within yourself to see the beauty of lies beneath every Rock every stone every pebble.
Home renovation platform Houzz suggests that Americans are fixing up their properties in record numbers, based on a survey of more than 70,000 people. It means that the pandemic lockdowns and lack of activities made people invest in makeover projects. According to Houzz, 53% of surveyed homeowners reported renovating their houses or apartments and most of their work focused on kitchens, office spaces, and outdoor areas.
In 2020, people spent 15% more on renovation projects. This could have something to do with people being able to save more money as well as an increase in the price of labor and materials. Travel restrictions and business shutdowns that happened during the pandemic caused shortages in many fields and the costs just skyrocketed.
36% of respondents said it was because they finally had the financial means to move forward and 44% said they moved ahead because they actually had the time to do them.
For anyone who's never tried living in a shipping container, they're horrendously hot in summer and can be cold and difficult to heat in the winter. As you might expect from a metal box.
Google 2531 shipping container home and it comes up.
Load More Replies...This reminds me of people that had trash or things just jumped on their property from a distance and I told them to turn into a palace instead of a property piece of to do do poopy.poppy.
This also reminds me of 🎵 to self app. It's free too use. It's called Note to self.its a baby 🔵💙 colored app.
Load More Replies...I bet those neighbors were just thrilled when they dropped all the shipping containers on the empty lot next door. =o}
If you wish to make a change to your surroundings, there's quite a few things to consider. As Lindsay T. Graham, a researcher at the Center for the Built Environment in UC Berkeley, said, “Our homes can be incredibly important tools for shaping our daily experiences.” So first, you should think about what you like and don't like about your place. Graham mentioned that the way our homes are organized, decorated, and furnished can evoke a varied palette of feelings.
Secondly, see if you have too much clutter in your home. It can increase your stress levels so you should try to get it under control. It's a visual reminder of the things you still have to do, so decluttering will help you feel more at ease at the end of the day.
this article really should be titled "How Good Design, competent contractors, and a s*it-ton of time and money can transform a space".
I wish I could find a good architect, at a reasonable price, to do my remodel. Where I live, they won't take a job unless it's commercial or a giant residential project like this one.
Load More Replies...It is, though. they put the lower sections, the one with the big window and glass-door in front of the old structure (you can see the differently-colored bricks) and put up a section on the roof to match the one to the right side. Look at the windows and the piping towards the roof - you can see where the old house is 'hiding'.
Load More Replies...All places service a 😻 places for war victims of the military families All involved are very happy to hear from you and I'm happy to hear that you can drop 📴 Private places back on too many people that I have come across in my paths of inspirations. I truly didn't think anybody was watching me help other people on my breaks of doing my job here and there and everywhere around the world I thought that no one cared enough or loved enough I was going through a rough time going to the places I went to war and the only way to let out my anger and frustration and not hurt people I love was to just disappear for too weeks at a time from my position of being medic the helping medic. With very little penny back in the day when you join the military you didn't get bonuses or a whole lot of money you can't respect honor integrity love and Hope.
Paint job, new roof, probably new windows, but it's hard to tell with the picture quality. But the fact is that just adding the railing to the balcony really changes the facade of the house, it adds dimension and the dream of a lovely elevated place to hang out.
The windows upstairs look as though they were replaced, and doors were added where the middle window was, to allow balcony access.
Load More Replies...As soon as you have 1 million, hey presto, a dump turns into a dream house! ✨
Not a before and after...more like a "during building construction' and after. We should just post all half build buildings here then.
Stained the shingles black, moved the plants from in front of the steps, painted and chose a railing (not my favorite.)
Load More Replies...Again during and after. That house in the first picture just isn't done. Stickers on windows no railings on balcony no gutters yet....
Ugh, did they paint brick? Yes, it looks nice, in many ways, such as landscaping, hardscaping, railing, but not a fan of the paint.
Also, color therapy can affect your mood and physical health. While reds and oranges might require your eye to adjust and help boost your energy, blues and greens require very little adjustment and are considered more restful. As Graham explained, you can “level out” the energy in your house accordingly, but keep in mind that everyone finds different tones soothing.
Thank you, I thought I was the only one paranoid about it being so well-hidden now.
Load More Replies...I want one! Now! Ready to quit my job and travel to the north and into tranquility.
North, South, East, West - I don't give a, just let me travel already!
Load More Replies...I've actually come to despise people who live in these kind of things (camper vans,RV's etc) , in my hometown there is an area that has a surprising amount of wildlife, and even some endangered species of flower/butterfly that are on the national protection list afaik, but literally like.. 60 vans etc will show up on an evening, light fires, s**t and piss everywhere, litter etc... and they are completely ruining the area, depleting it of its nature. It's disgusting. I hope they fall off a cliff.
Some of those people are okay, but yeah the others deserve worse than falling off a cliff.
Load More Replies...This is an extended version of that van. It is not that little. But still, pretty impressive.
Load More Replies...It looks great but, at 5ft 2in, I couldn't sleep sideways across my Transit...too tall! Unless they are very short folks, this won't be comfortable!
We spend so much time in our homes that we can forget the kind of impact it has on our mindset. There's a new trend that's taken the interior design world by storm and it's called comfort decorating. It's all about choosing furniture, artwork, and the basic feel of your place based on coziness and familiarity, not on aesthetics.
Amazing with thousands and thousands of dollars can do, isn't it?
concrete slab is not an improvement, and lovely tree worth more than any of this
I call fake on this one. The complete surroundings of this property vanished and changed.
This would be horrible to heat/cool anywhere but maybe pacific northwest
Without good insulation it's like living in a easy bake oven
Load More Replies...Nah, these are climbers (I think they are grapes? I have no idea) - they grow super fast and start over every season. Totally doable.
Load More Replies...Alln happiness going about their own business. Snug as a bug
Load More Replies...Very nice, but the "before" is simply the beginning of a whatever they are using to grow on the net (in this case, an actual netting, not "internet", for a change).
This will block the light going inside of the house. Totally not a good idea
Unless you're in AZ like me? I say bring it on! LOL
Load More Replies...I agree. I love this idea. But I love anything nature and from the earth. This would be my dream home.
Load More Replies...According to Apartment Therapy, the past years have changed the way people see their living spaces and they advise to look inward for decorating inspiration. Grace Dowd, an Austin-based therapist said that “it’s more important than ever to fill your space with things that make you feel like yourself, even if they’re not ‘Insta-worthy.’”
Unlike 90% of the other 'before & after' pics, this one actually seems 'doable' and has neat ideas many of us can try at home. imho too many pics are showing outrageously expensive construction projects.
Yeah I definitely agree if you're here for ideas but also they are super satisfying to look at.
Load More Replies...Is not having closet doors a thing these days? SO and I have been looking a house for sale lately, and we noticed a number of houses without closet doors. Blleeeaa!
That's so true and so annoying! I'm currently looking to buy a new wardrobe and I'm seeing everywhere this stupid style!! Who wants to get his clothes dusty?? I'm not doing a photoshoot for ikea catalog i just want a damn closet!!!
Load More Replies...I prefer not looking at my clothes while in my bedroom. Also, only half of my clothes would fit in that closet.
I prefer my closets to have to doors so I can hide everything. But I noticed the shelves to the sides. That seems like a good use of that space that's often so deep that you can't really get to it.
I wonder how long that closet looked that tidy. No way those shirts stay in those neat piles for longer than a week. MAYBE
I wonder if this was a spare room closet to begin with. The storage in the new closet is very nicely organized, but there doesn't seem to be a full wardrobe in there. I am trying to reduce my wardrobe by at least a third, but what I have left still wouldn't fit in this closet . . . I don't even think I could fit the third of the stuff I removed in this. I also agree about the closet doors. Its lovely to look at while it's brand new like this, but what about when the clothing stacks get messy, and you start adding stuff you acquire.
It's at least longer. The covered part at the back was a white wall in the before photo. Look at the left wall and window as reference. Also, there's a wooden wall (a room? A place to keep things?) that we see in the left front, in before, that disappears on the afyer, giving more space to the yard.
Load More Replies...I commented the same thing without even seeing your comment, I agree! 😂
Load More Replies...It's not bad, but do people really enjoy living in sterile looking show rooms?
It will look very different once people are living there and the camera is off. It’s a photo of the design, not a photo of life in the house. All the life stuff is hidden just outside the photo down the hall. 😂
Load More Replies...Haha, I was going to respond that it's fine for a basement kitchen, it's really nice actually. Then I noticed it's not a basement! Does anyone else think this looks like a basement?
Load More Replies...Sorry, I absolutely dislike this one. The floor looks cold and unwelcoming, the pattern of the rug makes me want to vomit and don't even get me started on this monstrosity of a banister. I much prefer a cozy den to a lifestyle catalogue cover!
I normally love this palette, but in this setting it doesn't really work for me. The kitchen is too... gray... I guess, it looks cold. I love the black entry way, but the thing behind the couch doesn't work for me either... prison vibes. Incitatus says it looks like a basement, and I think maybe that's the vibe I'm getting too.
Whether it's an old teddy bear, a family heirloom or a seashell you brought back from your vacation, it's important that it would remind you who you are. As you can guess, nostalgia is one of the key aspects of comfort decorating. If you choose objects that evoke feelings rather than look good, it gives your surroundings meaning and lets you get away from the difficult reality we have today.
Ah yes, so very easy to transform this outdated kitchen into a modern design (if you have a spare $20,000 or so). Anyone can do it!
You are way off. That Viking 48” Dual Fuel range alone is $17,000. The quartz wrap for the island runs $75-$150 per square foot. The built-in refrigerator, probably a Subzero or Viking, another $9,000. Tens of thousands for the custom pecan cabinet work. Expensive travertine backsplash. Designer pendant lighting. Expensive tile floor. Add in labor and contractor cost-plus, I would guess that’s a $100,000+ kitchen makeover.
Load More Replies...Just what everyone needs. A countertop that's too wide to reach across and a bunch of barstools that nobody sits on.
You'd have to sit on them to stare up lovingly at the fake beam.
Load More Replies...Do my eyes fool me or that is a very thin door? Great -but pricey- makeover, though.
The stove is in the same position in both pictures, but otherwise, there's not anything to signal that it's the same place, that's how totally they have redone it.
Believe it's a pantry door, but still- that is tiny lol
Load More Replies...That's the exact same place my eyes first went to as well.
Load More Replies...I wonder if that was underneath. I helped renovate an 1800s house in London and when we did the stairs we found a) three layers of carpet, each one just put over the other, and b) when we scraped off the horrible brown enamel paint from the railing, it was SOLID MAHOGANY. They covered up all kinds of things in the 1950s and 1960s; mind-blowing. We found other treasures too, like tilework around fireplaces under paint or even plaster.
That sounds like a lot of hard work, but very satisfying! Mahogany floors...sigh!
Load More Replies...According to the original post, that absolutely stunning tile floor was under that disgusting carpet. A little rough for wear and time, but what a restoration! Glorious! And the art glass? You'd pay thousands upon thousands for that workmanship today. My hat's off to the design team, the craftspeople and trades involved, and of course the homeowners.
Absolutely! I wonder if they had to restore any of the floor... it looks absolutely pristine, which makes you wonder why they covered it in the first place. 1960s sensibilities maybe...
Load More Replies...I hate the black walls too. The space looks so cold and uncomfortable now.
Load More Replies...I like the before, too. The painting and floor are fasionable today but this will be old and unfashion in some years.
This is one that looks reasonable to do and yet HUGE WOW factor on upgrade
Ah but you forgot to include the cost of that retaining wall by the sidewalk
Load More Replies...The garden and front wall too, but yes it is a huge difference and it looks lovely.
Load More Replies...Hardscaping, landscaping, it looks like wood details added to windows, nicer front door and paint. A world of difference.
Why did you get rid of that beautiful door? Couldn't you have just painted it?
It also shows how color and pattern can really make a space seem larger or smaller(too busy).
But comfort decorating should not be only about nostalgia. If a thing makes you feel good or brings pleasure to the five senses, it's reason enough to keep it: “Running your fingers along that tattered quilt or even smelling it can ground you in the present moment, which can help to alleviate anxiety about the past or future,” says Dowd.
This isn't a makeover. It's the building in progress then then finished product.
Woahhh, this is the ultimate meaning of modern and retro! Wood and modern styling! Nice!
Wow, that's - really ugly. I might be brand new but I do not like it at all, sorry.
During and after. I can't wait to tell the guys at work we are transforming the space to make them more satisfying in the buildings we are building.
Shows what a new coat of paint and the right decorative touches can do. Guarantee this entire reno cost less than $500. Love it.
I love the ones that look like they didn't need to hire a contractor and spend a bazillion dollars [although tbf this may have been designed]
Load More Replies...Looks really nice but is anyone else nervous with all these staff over the toilet?
That's not redecoration.. That's converting a tiny house into a three storey building.. (Beautiful though)..
Thank you! There's having a tidy-up and then there's knocking down your house to build a bigger one lol
Load More Replies...this is just a whole new building, not to mention it being higher than the original and the surrounding houses. Neighbours on the left will not be happy about their newly darkened rooms on the first floor
I haven't even noticed that! Though in my country you would have to get the neighbors' permission to build something so close to the edge of the property, so perhaps they've agreed.
Load More Replies...Sold for $3.79 million in Toronto. They bought the lot for $1.7mil and demo'd the cottage
Neighbor on the left isn’t too pleased with the loss of natural light, I reckon…
So if you didn't even start renovating but already feel overwhelmed, Before&After Design is a great place to look for inspiration. And just remember, in the end, your room does not have to be unrealistically perfect, it should be filled with things that make you feel good about yourself.
That’s more like half way through a storage container house and the end.
A container is only strong structurally with its original shape, with the expectation that you stack them directly on top of each other. The moment you start cutting big holes in them and having them hang off each other like this... you have to put a whole bunch of effort and materials into reinforcing them, which ends up making the whole thing cost more than if you just built something new out of wood or brick or whatever.
Aliquid novum nunc dixisti; I believe you've got something there!
Load More Replies...The after is nice but the animal fur seat! Huge no-no to that seat
Can I have the "before" back, please? You could make a lovely garden out of it - not a pseudo viking barbecue lounge...
The skylight is the best thing about the redo, it creates space and light where it was cramped. I'm not mad about the decoration, but that could be changed, while the skylight is going to be there as long as the house.
Load More Replies...Looks like a German bathroom... Usually we have guest toilets and I'm pretty sure the toilet moved to another place in this bathroom and you can't see it
Load More Replies...I hate these types of bathtubs, but the open shower and the new skylight are well-done. Decorations are... weird.
The after somehow looks more dated than the before.
Load More Replies...I actually like this one (gotta love your plants), but as Lyone says, that does look like a huge loss when it comes to storage space
I actually don't hate the before, I would have gotten rid of the tile.
Eh... all of these have a lot of plants. I'd probably get rid of a few to make room.
This is the same kitchen as above! I recognize the pendant light and ceiling beams
It's lovely, however, I am sorry I am kind of over 2000's kitchens. There are about 5 palettes that everyone uses. And don't forget the subway tile. So sorry, I'm never negative on here.
Why is that too bad? It's way more functional than it was before when it was stuck in the 80's.
Load More Replies...I mean it looks like a wood stove to me. I see lots of conversion buses here in the Pacific Northwest and most of them have wood burning stoves because our winters are pretty cold.
Load More Replies...Awkward space to be honest. And while the wall behind the sinks looks very beautiful, it will be a bitch to keep it clean if you actually use it.
Load More Replies...I was a guest in a house that had a huge bathroom like this. People, when you go to take a shower, you freeze to death. It was wintertime and all that tile made the room freezing cold. Unlike a smaller bathroom, the steam from the shower didn't warm the room. Personally, I would never want a bathroom that huge.
I agree about large bathrooms but they have a glass-door for the shower. So that part would be cozy-warm ... until you step out
Load More Replies...Did they eliminate (poor choice of words) a second bathroom or closet to make (sorry) it so vast?
"Before" had nice calming colours and nice window. "After" is too dark.
Nope! Gray bedrooms are depressing, and I cannot WAIT for this nightmare gray-and-beige crap to go out of style.
Speak for yourself, I find bright colours depressing because they give me a migraine...
Load More Replies...I'd have prefered they kept the window arch, but this still looks stunning and super cozy.
I'd be very happy there! I love turned beds. Bunny lamps and a stuffed unicorn. I might spend my second childhood quite happily.
Load More Replies...This should be credited correctly to the blog “Chris Loves Julia”. https://www.chrislovesjulia.com/
I'm very confused about that shower. How is the water going to be contained in that tiny little shower tray.
Sloped toward the wall? We did that. However, is that shower floor only about 24 inches by 24 inches?
Load More Replies...unless they have a secondary drain back behind that tub, those tiles are going to collect a LOT of water from that open shower. humans splash. i foresee trouble. This is pretty but without more shower enclosure this is crap design.
Hate the shower/bathtub combination. It's a bathtub, not a cattle-trough! Terrible design and so uncomfortable and that tiny shower is just a joke
Hey there, I've been really curious about these mobile homes too! It's fascinating how they function as both a house on wheels and a potential permanent residence. I'm genuinely wondering, though, if there are any special permissions or regulations involved in using them as a moving home. I mean, what happens in case of an accident? I'm not a fan of novelty furniture in my home, but I admire the concept.
Just needs some cushions and a pillow or two
Load More Replies...Awesome re-purposing that anyone with a minor degree of skill and tools can do! Thank you!
You turned a bathtub... into garden furniture... where can I buy this?
Looks like you have a broken bath tub in your yard. Looks like trash.
Wish they took the "after" pic from the same angle. Becuase the ceiling height looks different in the second image.
Indeed, it looks like their rebuilt the house around it. The photo was taken from lower down, but there are new windows, higher ceiling. Doesn't really look like the same place.
Load More Replies...I like that it blocks the light, sleep regardless of outside light. It looks like there is a play area in place of the top bunk.
Load More Replies...I think they just took out the blinds? It’s hard to tell with the angle the picture’s at
Load More Replies...Do you have permission from that girls parents to put that photo online?
Who exactly are you asking? They're from Instagram, do you not understand where this site gets its content from?
Load More Replies...They built wat is known as a mezzanine.......along with new and additional windows. The ceiling over the bed is lower, allowing a loft to be built above.
Well, they have less counter space now so they would have no choice but to put things away, I guess.
Load More Replies...These homes are extremely close together. They did improve the back of the house by moving the doorway out and change the windows.
why not just use press to open soft close latches rather than knobs under the stairs (hidden storage).
But fake grass is better than no grass at all. :) I know someone who decided to paving stone their entire back garden. Sweet cheeses, you could cook a turkey out there on a hot summer's day!
Load More Replies...Beautiful wood cabinetry and beam. Love how they opened up the ceiling. It some feels like a ship because of that. I'm keeping this image!
Lovely, I like the combination of black and wood, and the way they used it does not make the space too dark.
Difficult to tell with the end of the counter in the way.
Load More Replies...Why?? Looks like forniture and stove were burned to ashes! Too dark
Looks a bit tight, but I love the colours of the wood and those green seats, looks great but not sure it's very practical..
Haha, didn't notice! My kitchen is 9x9ft, so I could make this work!
Load More Replies...Not a fan of that shade of green, but this is a great renovation either way.
I'm such a sucker for dark green cabinets in kitchens. And the hardwood (laminate, looks like? But good hardwood laminate!)!
Oh I love this one, I'd have some of my herbs growing on those shelves though xD
I love what they did with the front, but the back looked better with the wood and brick.
They lost the character of the upper story sloping outward on the back wall. Sad.
Load More Replies...Yes. Just needed freshening up, not a whole remodel. (At least for the first pic.)
Load More Replies...I love the small changes in the front. Stronger looking wood columns, remove the awning, etc. The disappearing walls work better if the desk extends about ten feet so they'd be extending the living space. Here it just drops off. I love the windows in the upper story in back.
Looks like the stairs went all the way down to the glass before. I think they ripped them out and rebuilt them on the other side so that they'd fall short, creating a small living room near the glass.
Load More Replies...It took me a minute, but the coastline is the same. They moved the stairway to create that wonderful wraparound view and really open up the space.
I don't know where you live but we used to have a house like that and even for those few times the weather is nice... It is awesome to open up the doors. I live in the Netherlands.
Load More Replies...No shower now, no storage under the sink. Much more attractive, but not as useful. No medicine cabinet so the toothbrushes are out, just waiting for that fecal aerosol.
This is why you close the toilet before you flush
Load More Replies...I always think that the floor around these kind of bathtubs must be a nightmare to clean. I wouldn't want to bend myself behind it all the time...
I have bathtub like that and I can assure you it is dirty as hell. Mine is in a tight space and you can't just move it to clean. Big nope, looking forward to replacing it.
Load More Replies...If you have a lot of calcium in your water, black might be a really bad choice...
Load More Replies...Did they take out a closet? Maybe the washer dryer were behind the double doors.
Honestly I'd have kept that archway, don't think I'm all that comfortable having a massive window above where I'm bathing, too.
Again.. no shower?? Imagine all the water everywhere after taking a bath... uff
Looks nice from the front but it's a disaster once you go inside and see the back...
The table and chandeliers are too much for me. The whole interior is decorated terribly.
A lot of these are pretty dated. Some may look nice now, but in 10 years it'll be "looks like they remodeled in 2020, time for a change."
Load More Replies...Haha, I hate it, but I up voted you from negative points. You shouldn't be down voted because you like it!
Load More Replies...I doubt anyone would be walking in front of this window but boaters might get a decent view
Load More Replies...Ha! You're right! No stove. I didn't notice that.
Load More Replies...I love the tiles, but that's about it. There's very little storage space, no oven and the open shelves will collect so much dust.
That kitchen has no storage space and no oven. But it’s pretty.
Very Interesting couches. The children got old enough for the family to use that space together. Not a redo. It's a do.
It breaks up a giant flat empty wall. And maybe they adore candles but don't want kids knocking them over?
Load More Replies...It works, except I really detest that mural. Makes no sense with the design. Nor do the candles in a space filled with flammable clothing.
The candles aren't lit, and probably are never lit. You just love to nitpick.
Load More Replies...Why.... does anyone need a table inside a dressing-room? Just so you can knock down the candles with your chosen garment when you're in a hurry?
looks cozy, but I'd probably have tried to squeeze in a cozy sofa/armchair as opposed to the bench, just for that extra bit of comfort when curled up reading xD
We get it, you hate darker colors. Some of us think they're cozy.
Load More Replies...Well, you never know. I got rid of a cheap sink cabinet in my bathroom, since I happen to have a linen closet opposite. I suppose pictures can't get every angle...
Load More Replies...Nope! Now you have to hold it until you are 50, and then explode!
Load More Replies...Next to the cabinet, seems to be a lip sticking out.
Load More Replies...Oh, this is my favourite one! So much wood, contrasting nicely with the black. And I love the roof.
$$$$$$$. Huge improvement but I think some real money went into it.
Load More Replies...I like it, except for the overhead light. That looks too intense for such a small space.
All that green space replaced with a huge half-empty deck and not one, but two couches. Why?
"They paved paradise, and put up a parking lot" *sings*
Load More Replies...BP didn't even share the best part of this renovation, the wall across the beds is the true focal point of the room. It elevates the whole design. 223032519_...3d76e2.jpg
And also the before part. Not the empty room or the working progress.
Load More Replies...Walls are dark forest green. Went to school one day with medium green walls came home to not quite as dark green walls. Looked better.
Load More Replies...The new paint must make the neighbors happy. The house too!
Now it looks tidy but there's no music anymore. No soul. Just two dead guitars.
Maybe they just kept the electronics out for the pic!
Load More Replies...I hope they don't like having skin on their knuckles!
Load More Replies...This is a young person's bedroom. Just the thought of getting in and out of that makes my back and knees hurt. Ouch!
all I can see is bruised foreheads and broken arms on those of us who sleep-thrash
Load More Replies...That glam chandelier is kinda mismatched with the coastal vibe in the rest of the room.
Why not, it makes it look more rustic which is what i guess they were going for
Load More Replies..."You have married Fester, you have destroyed his spirit, you have taken him from us. All that I could forgive. But Debbie... pastels?"
They are both Befores — except the light fixture, which went from pleasantly unusual to aggressively tacky.
I kinda like the before more and I hate that they painted the bricks.
I can understand that, because the before is way too much brown. The 90s damaged me, I can't handle brown anymore.
Load More Replies...They miss a lot of storage place. Let people live there for a month and then take the pictures. You'll see the mess and the dirt!
But... there is storage space? There was none before, though. What are you talking about?
Load More Replies...And storage is sacrificed for style. That doesn't make sense, since it will create more clutter in the end.
I'd guess the most expensive thing they did was move the electric panel to make room for the wine cabinet
And they don't even think in using it, as they put full of big heavy things in front of the door.
Load More Replies...It's not the same room, or did they demolish a part of the building showing from the window?
And where is Paula telling us how much she hates the black?
Load More Replies...Stop throwing away antique fireplaces! Damn that looked victorian...
I love this room and all the furniture, but I hate when they rip out original features. All antique fireplaces and French doors were torn out of my house
Load More Replies...Fun fact: Just because you can't see it doesn't mean it doesn't exist.
Load More Replies...Please tell me that table is not meant for anyone to work on? That's way too small for anything!
I like the before better, at least, I love that fireplace, the "after" is just too modern for me
I would have redone the hearth to better echo the outdoor masonry. What they did fights with it.
Load More Replies...Dramatic contrast makes a space more interesting, it provides drama. A light room needs dark or else it floats away, there's nowhere for the eye to settle. All-light rooms are simply bland.
Load More Replies...Wondering if it's really suspended on ropes or ropes are used to conceal the support.
Load More Replies...Removing the curtains also loses a lot of charm.
Load More Replies...It must be storage space, otherwise it would be pointless.
Load More Replies...Nice bed-desk-storage area. But, bare florescent tube lights on the ceiling...?
Also that "Garden" of stones. 🤢 The house is nice, but what they did to nature is cruel.
Load More Replies...I like what they did with the house, but it's terrible they removed the trees and replaced the garden with gravel.
Don't leave the one arch. It's an anomaly and not in a good way. I also dislike the new skybox cut into the roof. A pity it's not on the back of the house.
I love the sounds of birds and the wind flowing through trees. It would have more me appeal to me if they had left the back foliage as-is..
Now it doesn't fit in with the rest of the buildings at all and that makes it look tacky. And why cover up all the windows?
That's a really depressing living room. No color. No plants. No books. Ugh.
It looks like the hotel lobby of a particularly boring hotel.
Load More Replies...Take away the strategically placed decor and it looks like a corporate lobby where prospective employees would be instructed to wait until some comes to get them.
Straightening out the hairpin turn was a great call. Not clear enough photo to tell for sure, but I think the before bannister had nice character, though. I would have kept that.
Bathtub in front of a huge window? No thanks. The light fixture is also kinda tacky.
Yuck!! Those beams were so beautiful. I swear I will never understand mixing stone finishes. It looks awful.
Hate the black floor. Like walking on ashes. I don't get what whith dark forniture. Looks burned, or oily.
It wouldn't be so bad had they left the ceiling white.
Load More Replies...If you need all that storage space then you need to de-clutter
Load More Replies...But... but the before was GREAT! Maybe remove a few things here and there and redo the paint but overall, I love it
I think they extended the original house. Looks ugly either way and doesn't fit in with the surrounding buildings.
Load More Replies...How did it get longer and a completely different shape? Did they just knock down the whole house and rebuild?
I think it's an indoor cinema! Which is super cool, imo. Just needs more seats.
Load More Replies...I'm really not a fan of the wallpaper. Too many colors and it's too busy.
This isn't redecoration. This is what a boatload of money, a good contractor, and a decorator can accomplish. Not really surprising.
Seems like every time BL posts stories like this it's the same thing. People with money spending massive amounts of money. Like where are the teachers with well decorated homes at.
Load More Replies...It's amazing what a great renovation you can do when you have a team of architects, builders, interior designers, an already huge house, and unlimited funds!
I am so surprised by such negative comments. The results on most are very nice. Of course it takes money to upgrade a home but doesn't mean they weren't well done.
Totally BS. Except for a few ones the rest is really bad fashionable interior renewals picture perfect and unpractical. And really expensive
Yes picture perfect for the after picture. Nobody puts an after picture all messed up ! Let’s see your space Steve I’m sure its a haven of practicality!
Load More Replies...I can't wait until this trend of the all-white interior, paired with greys and blacks, goes away. It looks so soulless to me.
