Long hair has always been popular in human culture - for both women and men. Thanks to his hair, the biblical hero Samson received his inhuman strength, princess Rapunzel's hair allowed her to escape from the high tower, and braided hair symbolized youth, beauty and even independence among different peoples.

I Don’t See A Lot Of Afros On This Sub — Figured I Would Contribute!
The 70s were a great decade for hair -- so many long locks like waterfalls and gorgeous chrysanthemum afros! Especially afros with a dusting of snowflakes, or fine glitter . . . .
I love afros. Hope to see more of them! Rock that beautiful natural hair!
4 Year Hair Growth With No Hair Cuts, Not Even Trims. From Yesterday, Back To Senior Year Of Hs (2018)
Oh my goodness sir. You must have to chase away the woman that follow you down the street on a daily basis because of your fabulous good looks and magnificent locks
Wow! Like standing in front of a roaring fire! (It's my favourite colour too).
I'm envious. I'm a redhead with natural curls like this but I can't grow my hair anymore thanks to it falling out for various reasons. ;-; (but tbh, even if I could I'd still be envious that hair just looks so perfect!)
God I hope if/when you decide to cut it you donate it. That is insanely attractive. You would be a LoL unicorn. Every few years you make some ginger kid's day/life. Either way, impressive.
My Mom Used To Cut Her Hair Short And Perm It, But Since I've Been Caring For Her I Let It Grow. She's 93!
My Grandma used a single long braid that reached all the way to her ankles :)
I imagine, having cut my own hair short and permed, she did it mostly for convenience. Her hair looks fine, long fine hair is difficult l, especially when you are busy. I love doing my girls' hair and I look forward to the bonding time of the reverse
Load More Replies...I have wanted, since I was 4 and there was a song called 'hair' on playschool, to have really long hair once it goes grey, like a woman in the video. Even cooler when in one shot she unfurled it from where it was braided and wrapped around her head a couple of times.
Sometimes I Don’t Know If I Want To Put It Up Or Let It Down. As You Can See It’s Everywhere . Lol
Wow. Those eyes. I may be falling in love with those eyes and that smile
36 Inches Of Curlzzz !
I vote the most beautiful hair I have seen here. It is ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS!!
OMG that is stunning! I do so love long hair and curly hair. You win this one!
If those are natural curls, I'm jealous. Flat and fine is mine but it is feets long.
Those are definitely not natural. If they have natural curls they've still done something to make them all identical.

By the way, in many cultural traditions of the peoples of the world, it is forbidden to cut long hair or, moreover, to shave - both for men and women. For example, Sikhs are forbidden to cut their hair throughout their entire lives, and their religion considers compliance with this ban to be one of its most important attributes.

Saying Goodbye To My Pandemic Hair; Chemo Starts Next Week
Oh nooooooo! I hope you get better and we hope to hear from you again!
That really sucks, I got cancer and I have had long hair all my life. I lost a head full of waist length, thick hair, it fell out a little at a time at the beginning of chemo, but suddenly, it just fell out all at once during a shower. Traumatized!! To say the least. All of that said to tell you this. My hair came back growing faster, thicker and curly! You see, before chemo my hair was long and thick, ya, but it was a straight frizzy hot mess. My hair grew back so fast it was to the bottom of my butt by the time 2 years went by. It's so much nicer than ever and I literally have strangers complimenting on how beautiful it is. After chemo hair can grow back totally different, it can change in color, texture and growth speed. God bless you and hope this gives hope.
Your very sweet. I had cancer as well but surgery took care of it. I went though some bad trial drugs as well, but never had to go through chemo. I'm sorry yall have to go through that. My love goes out to yall that have to use chemo. I am in full recovery for now but I have non-functioning neuroendocrine carcinoid syndrome, so it can come back. I hope you have a happy life and enjoy everyday, I know I do.
Load More Replies...Chemo and Cancer in general Sucks! I'm bald right now and I'm still here. My husband helped me by cutting and then shaving my head. As difficult as it was for me, it was double for r him I think. It brought us closer than I thought possible. Good luck with chemo and Goddess willing your hair will grow back. Small price to pay considering the alternative.
Have A Lovely, Happy, Funny Week Lovelies. Keep Smiling:))
I used to have dreadlocks down to my waist, and they were so heavy I was getting migraines from my neck being tense all day. I can't imagine how heavy these are.
Interestingly, according to some studies, women are more predisposed to have long hair - after all, the hormone estrogen, which, in particular, is responsible for the lifespan of each hair, is present in the female body in much greater quantities than in the male one. So it turns out that the "life span" of a woman's hair is on average 2.5 times longer than that of a man's.

Your hair is beautiful girl! Also love the beadwork on your necklace & earrings... the colours are stunning!

My Hair After Four Months Of Weekly Rosemary And Peppermint Oil Treatments
I don't think my hair would look like that after 40years of Rosemary/peppermint treatment
Load More Replies...As far as I know, you apply generous amont of rosemary and peppermint oil mix onto hair and scalp, and massage it thouroughly. Leave it for minimum 1 hour (best in overnight), wrap with warm towel, and then wash thouroughly with shampoo with cold water. If still feel sticky, it's okay to wash twice. You can use it on hair ends to prevent split ends too, but it tend to make hair limp.

If this is a slight dig at the new live-action The Little Mermaid featuring the lovely Halle Bailey, get over it. Disney DIDN'T invented the Little Mermaid, it was Hans Christian Andersen who wrote a work of FICTION based on the mythos of mermaids. The Andersen's Little Mermaid made a deal with a sea devil to murder the prince to earn a soul since mermaids don't have one. She was too young for the prince who deemed her a child, marrying an age appropriate wife instead. The little mermaid commits suicide instead of commiting murder. And yeah, mermaids are not beautiful and have been depicted with scales, sharp teeth, and claws. That pretty sirens call is what brings all those sailors to deaths yard. And lastly, since it's fiction, ANYONE and any PET can be the little mermaid. I've seen it, Halloween and cosplay. But if this wasn't a dig at the new movie, my apologies and carry on. I'm just sick of Disney purists ruining it for everyone else.
Mine too. It's difficult to find someone who knows how to it the way I like tho. I hate straight blunt cut ends and that's how they alway insist on doing it.
Load More Replies...Probably the most popular bearer of long hair in modern culture is Rapunzel from an old German fairy tale and, more importantly, the famous Disney cartoon. Devoted fans specifically calculated the length of the princess' hair and got about 70 feet. By the way, in order to make Rapunzel's hair look realistic on the screen, a special computer program was made to calculate the movement of almost 100 thousand individual strands.

Now That I'm In My 40s, I'm Finally Letting My Hair Grow As Long And Wild As It Was When I Was 9
Sister - you are gorgeous! Honestly - 40’s was my personally favorite decade of life and long, wavy hair just shows the sexy confidence.
But in the real world, someone has even broken the record of a Disney princess. Asha Mandela from Florida entered the Guinness Book of Records back in 2009 when her locks were almost 20 feet long. Now, thirteen years later, the woman can boast 110 feet of her locks.
If, according to statistics, the average American spends about $77.17 a year on hair care, one can only guess how much her hair costs the world record holder. However, such beauty, we are sure, it is definitely worth it!
Haircut And Feeling Great!
The ends look so much healthier! I need to do that too, my ends look just like ur before cut pic. Your hair is beautiful.
So many people are so thrilled with their long hair that they don't realize how bad six inches of split ends looks. Even very long hair needs the occasional trim to clean it up.
Trim it on a full moon so it will grow strong and fast. Even a half inch, two or three times a year helps. I cut mine 8-10 inches a year because I don’t like sitting on it.

Fabulous colour, and such great condition now too, with it still being very long hair. You must be so pleased.
Stunning colour-- your hair looks so much healthier now. Occasionally cutting longer hair can help with hair health and even help it grow faster (yes, it sounds counterintuitive)
It's because of the color that her hair was in that condition. Not the length. Hair still grows at the same rate but it will retain the length to not damage it. Edit to add I'm a cosmetologist so I'm not pulling it from thin air (people will assume)
Load More Replies...Color did that to the ends but closer trims and conditioner should stop it from happening again. Source me a cosmetologist.

You’re Never Too Old For Long Hair. She’s 94!
Like the picture of the 93 year old above, this hair is so lovely for their age, it's astounding <3
I have been told to cut my hair short by so many people since I turned 40. I am female. I did when I reached 55. Felt I wasn't me. I am growing it again and now I am 58 I have seen these pictures, and I am not stopping. Long hair looks great on people, whatever their age, if that is what they want!
I always wondered about this. Why should you not have long hair after being 40? If it suits you and your face and/or you always had it like that: just keep on rocking it girl! When I saw pics of my mom when she was young, with beautiful thick hair, I always wondered why she cut it short so early on. She didn't really have an answer to that question, she was more like that almost everyone of her age did that. By the way, I'm in my early 40's, I have had different hairstyles and lenghts over the years, and now I have wavy hair just over my shoulders. This is the longest I had it in years. Unfortunately my hair isn't as thick and luscious as the people in these pics have. The implant is tight, so I actually have a lot of hair, but the hairs are very fine, so it doesn't look like much. However, I'm proud of still being a natural blonde, I found my first grey hairs only about a year ago!

Strangely enough, it is! He is taking finasteride. From OP- "Finasteride is supposed to freeze hair loss from male pattern baldness, and in some cases people see regrowth. In my case that's what I've seen. The drug works to inhibit natural testosterone from converting to DHT, but it only lingers in your system for about a week I think. For best results you want to take it regularly, otherwise your hair loss will continue to progress."

My Sweet Friend Just Braided My Hair!! She's The Best!!!!❤️
When I try to do a French braid on myself, this is how it turns out, but I can't do it on other people. Only my hair is not this thick and my braid doesn't look this nice
Load More Replies...I really wish I could figure out how to do this kind of braid on my own hair. I can't even do a proper French braid on myself without it going crooked and sloppy (and not the cool kind of sloppy).
When I try it actually looks pretty good, but I ALWAYS miss one tiny strand of hair. Always, no matter how hard I try to gather everything up at the end. I honestly don't have any idea how this happens.

The amount of respect I have for these folk for dealing with brushing this much hair to look beautiful and not just a bunch of tangles is a lot. It's always the tangles that convince me to lop it all off and donate again.

I miss my hair sometimes. Had red hair to the middle of my back. But then I started going bald, so I shaved it off. Growing my beard out now, thinking of putting some beads in it.
35 Years ago (I was 7) I had hair halfway down my back. I kept insisting to my mom that a "Bob cut" was what I really wanted. She said no but I pestered and pestered. Eventually she gave in and said "fine!" I don't know what 7 year old me expected but I hated it. I cried for 2 weeks. After that, I said I'd never cut my hair again. Other than a trim, I haven't. Today, my hair is just past the back of my knees. I've never dyed it and the last perm I had was in grade 7. I take care of it. My hair is the one and only thing I love about my physical appearance. Please, before I am judged, 5 years ago when my sister was diagnosed with cancer, I vowed that when she needs it, I will absolutely cut it for her. Along with her, I think I can provide at least 2 more people with a head of hair.
I struggle with mine because it’s hip length and I’m disabled so washing it is a full day job but I don’t feel right without long hair if that makes sense.
That absolutely makes sense! I am not disabled but a few weeks ago I had double surgery and so washing, conditioning and wrapping a towel on my head has been a huge struggle. I can't imagine struggling everyday for the rest of my life so I am truly empathetic towards your situation. I really wish I could help you ❤️ Do you have someone who could help you? If you don't work or frequent an environment that is dusty or greasy and keep your hair in a braid, pony or bun a lot, you shouldn't need to wash your hair more than once a week. Also, if you don't use product in your hair, you're good for a week. Change your pillowcase twice a week if possible too. If you need help, don't be afraid to ask for it. I am unsure of the cost but if you can swing it, call a hair salon and ask what they charge for a wash only. Maybe a friend or friend of a friend does hairdressing as a side business. Don't suffer if you can help it.
