Childhood innocence often brings about heartwarming moments of empathy and care, and this post is exactly all about that, Pandas. For example, picture a scene where a 3-year-old girl, noticing her large family dog appearing ‘weary’, decided to facilitate a good nap for him. With a sweet determination, she draped her favorite pink blanket over the dog, covering his head and back like a makeshift cape. It wasn't big enough to cover the entire dog, but it turned him into something of a resting superhero.

In another instance, a little boy demonstrated an incredible bond with his Spaniel breed dog. As storm clouds gathered, heralding a thunderstorm, the dog began to shake in fear. Recognizing this, the boy's parent explained that the dog was afraid of thunder. Instantly, the boy rushed to the canine’s side, hugging the scared dog tightly.

These are just a few of the examples you can expect to see in this post as the pure hearts of children continue serving as a beautiful reminder of the instinctive kindness and love they offer, regardless of the circumstances.

I have heard it before indeed. Yet, there could be some truth to this. When my daughter was younger, maybe 8 years or so, she had some bloodwork done for allergy testing. She asked the doctor if he needed more than two liter, because she did not think she could miss that much. Doctor obviously needed to fill just two or three little tubes. Kids really don't know.... so legend is plausible for me.

Snopes.com marks this one as an urban legend. https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/transfusion-confusion/ This other site also marks this one as being made up: https://factly.in/this-compassionate-story-of-a-little-boy-donating-blood-to-his-sister-is-not-inspired-from-a-real-incident/

Absolute nonsense and totally invented. Type O blood is the commonest type of blood (throughout most of Europe and USA), and any hospital that doesn't have any in stock shouldn't be operating as a hospital. Children would never be asked to donate, even in an emergency situation as its too dangerous for them. They have a much smaller circulating blood volume than an adult and losing even a small amount would be detrimental. Most countries with a public health blood donation set up have a minimum age limit (17 in the UK), and a minimum weight limit (you've got to be over 50kg in UK).

You are somewhat correct. Type O+ is the most common blood type, with 37% of the population having it. But in this "story" they needed O-, which only 6% of the population has, and is also known as the universal blood type. At least in my area, the blood banks are always running low on O-, I get several calls a month to donate. Unfortunately, I don't weigh enough.

Urban legend. It wouldnt be useful as a child (even if permitted to donate) only could give a small amount of blood.

My grandson 9 makes his own lunches in the morning. The first week of school his mom asked him why his normal peanut butter and jelly sandwiches were now just jelly. "My best friend sits with me to eat and he's allergic to p-nut butter" was his innocent reply.

@Len Mastin: I hear you. As a teacher of young children (4- to 5-year-olds), that situation drives me nuts. I work my a*s off showing them how to treat others with respect, and creating a classroom where there's peace and acceptance, even if they butt heads on occasion. (LOL.) Then I look around and see adults acting out of their selfishness, contempt, and hatred, and wonder if it will ever do any good. (Although these stories do give me hope. Maybe my sweet kiddos will grow up and change the world.)

Then I doubt he has has autism, unless he is at the low end of the spectrum. What looks like autism in a 3-year-old or even a 5 year-old can end be something different. (I've known at least three little guys where autism was the initial assumption/diagnosis, tests revealed a different type of disorder.) Kids with autism don't process emotions the same way. Now, I'm not an expert, I just teach at a school that for the better part of 20 years has had two classes of students who are profoundly affected. Many are nonverbal, even as they reach middle school age. One of the teachers at the 3-5 class was my roommate for awhile. She said one of the fathers said that sometimes all he wanted was to hear those three words. It's just not something kids who are severely affected with autism do as a norm

Oooh, boy, Mr. - you may have certain experience with some people, but you are wrong about some others, point blank. I clearly see your compassion, and I thank you for it - but more research and experience with people who have more moderately presenting autism (as occurs with asperger's, for instance) is needed, I submit to you respectfully... a kind heart and a fully informed opinion is a good thing...

My now 17 yr old was in Mexico City with me when she was 2.5 & saw a girl in her gown for her quinceañera. She gasped "mom, it's a princess" and ran over to bear hug the poor girl's legs. The look on her face though, when I explained what my daughter thought, was priceless. And by then I had the happiest toddler around, face covered in glitter from the dress. 😊

I've also been part of a charity's 'Cheer Squad' at a marathon where they had lots of runners; it is very lovely to see how people are spurred on my you cheering them. Plus spending a few hours shouting and cheering is surprisingly therapeutic. A good time all round.

He was probably the only kid who just stayed still and looked at them, instead of trying to scare, approach, or touch them. Animals respond to the vibe we give off. Being calm and quiet, he gave off a safe and kind vibe. Mama Duck saw that, responded to it, and decided he was the kindest, safest person to approach with her babies.

When my son was three he wanted to be "just a traffic light" (he got the idea from Daniel Tiger). It was the simplest costume and everyone we encountered that night thought it was the best costume they'd ever seen.

My son loved French bread - hot fresh from the store. When he was 2, we'd come home from shopping and I was making dinner. Couldn't find the French bread. Like anywhere and was second guessing if I'd bought it. Went in my son's room and he was stripped down to his underwear, leaned back against his bed, one leg propped in from of the other with the loaf of French bread on his shoulder just casually pulling hunks out and eating them while watching tv. Just straight chillin'. Pre-cellphones w cameras but I'd give ANYTHING to have a pic of that. He's 21 now and I still laugh thinking about it.

When I was eight, I made breakfast in bed for my mom. I fried bacon and eggs, made toast, and a bowl of cereal. Yes, at eight I knew how to use the stove. This was in the '70's. Anyway, I plated the food, put it all on a metal cookie sheet, and started the long trek to the stairway. Made it! I went slowly, as things were sliding around. Up the sixteen steps, and into the bedroom, and all would be good. I made it up fifteen. Sigh.

Believe it or not, siblings don’t always fight, and they do always love each other. I was the baby of my family. I had 4 older brothers who were between 9 and 18 years older. This was in the days before baby monitors, and we lived in a big farmhouse, so when my brothers went to bed, and my mother put me in my crib and went downstairs to watch TV with my father, she wouldn’t be able to hear me if I fussed. But my brothers did, and would take turns getting up, taking me out of the crib, and walking with me until I calmed down. Sometimes they took me into their room and laid me down next to them until I fell asleep. If they fell asleep too, my mother soon learned to check the boys’ rooms before freaking out. Instead of being peeved at having their sleep interrupted, my brothers were just fine looking after me. When I was older I realized just how wonderful they were, because they wouldn’t let their baby sister cry and cry, but would get up and help calm her down. No warm blooded human being with a beating heart can let a baby cry for very long without getting up, checking on them, and soothing them. My brothers were always there for me, and I was always there for them. I’m 62 now, and have lost 3 of the 4, plus both parents. That’s something you never think about when you’re young. But it happens to all of us if we live long enough.

Thank you, Susan. Sincerely. My daughter is trans. She's in her 20s now and has always had her family's support. But when she was a teen, we were involved with a nonprofit where we met a lot of kids who did not have that support. I'm grateful there are people like you that provide a safe space if they need it. And it's a relief to know there are people in the world who have my daughters back if, for some reason, I'm unable to. I worry all the time. I need to know other people care.

Yes. Whether it is a nickname ("Meg, please"), a title ("Oh, I am Mrs. Smith now"), an honorific ("Actually, I am properly called Dr. Lam") or a pronoun ("I like to use 'thery/them'") it has ALWAYS been good manners to call people by their preferred identifiers and that no-one is in a position to 'correct' them. The people who say you can't use your preferred pronouns are in the same boat as the people who would tell widows that they couldn't be "Mrs. Jones" anymore because their husband died.

I suspect that it's often about party tribalism: people desperately searching for why the other party is bad as it becomes increasingly obvious that thier preferred party are the bad guys. Your party treats everyone they can get away with like $hît, impoverishes the country but you don't want to admit that your vote was unwise.

I respond to any gender pronoun. I don't gender identify so I really don't care. Besides this way I never have to correct anyone. I don't tell people I know about my identity cause I'm sick of the mockery.

If that random stranger had been a man, think it would have been the case. Hugging stangers kids can very easily be misinterpretated and the fear that the parents migh feel can make them cause a scene. In this society you have to step very carefully as male around kids if you don't want to be acused of something. This is still an area where very different rules apllies to men and women.

My son used to bring me dandelion bouquets all the time. I was always thrilled that he thought enough to make me happy. My b*tch of a sister ruined it when she told him they were weeds. He was heartbroken. I let him know that dandelions were actually very "special" flowers that pretended to be weeds so only very sweet little boys could find them. F*ck her.

I miss Canadian Tire money. Decades ago my Canadian ex's parents were working in England with a team of engineers. One family went on a tour of the Mediterranean on vacation and left the ship and rented a car for the day. They got stopped by off duty military who had set up a toll booth. They convinced the military that the Canadian Tire Money was Canadian dollars because it says Canadian Money on it. Got off scott free minus the Canadian Tire Money. Anyone know if they still do that? I miss Canadian Tire. QQ

I was buying goodie bags for my bday party and I’m standing in line, and my 8yr old brother comes up to me, and tries to give me his 5 dollars. I said, “Henry, I can’t accept this, it’s your money that you’ve been saving” he kept putting it in my hand and I kept giving it back. Finally he did accept the fact that it was his money and there was no need for him to spend it on his sister’s bday party

My niece used to hide all her birthday and Christmas money to help her single mom pay bills. To my knowledge my sister never took it, but I found out because she wasn't feeling well one day I came to visit and when I sat down on her waterbed I felt all this stuff poking me and when I looked to was a ton of cash. Sadly her older (1 1/2 years older) brother would steal it whenever he found it. Her waterbed was her best hiding place for years.

During lockdown, after the tightest sanctions were lifted, but we were all still social distancing and testing like crazy, my dad came to visit us for a walk in the country park. My then-2-year-old kept giving him 'presents' (rocks, leaves, acorns, etc) to put in his pockets. My father treasured every one of them and, when he got back home, put them in a wooden box to keep them safe. As far as I know, he still has them.

My 15 year old daughter still does this, I love it. She comes home from school with her little pocket of treasures like leaves, rocks, feathers and flowers. My teen son collects cool sticks.

I got a lot of rocks and leaves from walks and school from my son. He would carry them all day in his pockets to gift me when I would pick him up from daycare and elementary young years. I still have a lot of them on a bookshelf <3

One time, when my sister was baby, she was sitting in a highchair next to my cousin who is about the same age. We were all enjoying ice cream, and I look over to see my cousin spoon feeding my sister ice cream. Then he would continue to eat the rest off the spoon. This process continued until both of their ice cream dishes were gone.

So when I was little I was eating a hostess orange cream cupcake. My mom taught me to share. So I took a bite, the cat took a bite. I took a bite, the cat took a bite. My mom saw me and screamed so loud. 😂 and that's how I learned about germs.

during the first lockdown some local kids and an old man in a nursing home painted loads of these and left them on peoples doorsteps at night. every house got at least 3 over the 3 months we were stuck at home. best bit is we only know who the old man is, the kids all kept quiet. it brightened a lot of peoples days when they were home alone

Why is it exactly that historical same-sex couples that are buried together etc are referred to "close friends" because "we cannot know", but when a 10-year-old meets another human with different gender it's immediately a "date"? Could we maybe stop sexualizing kids?
