Hey guys, I just wanted to say thank y ou so much for your kindness. Especially, Fin, Pancakes, Zoe, Bird and Noemie. Truth is I've been really down about my work for a long time now. After a year of trying to do something with it and not even getting so much as a few likes on my Insta I'd pretty much given up. I haven't done anything new for months. The mountains in the background are from a cellphone picture I took a while back, the clouds are made with perlin noise, or difference clouds to the photoshop people and the waco is entirely vector.

To those who question my knowledge of painting processes: I've been painting for 40+ years, digitally since the 90ies, my father and many of our family friends are artists, I've taken classes, subscribed to an art magazine for many many years and currently administrate an art forum. Never once has someone said, in a tutorial, that you can start wherever you want and still get things to line up perfectly pixel by pixel in the end result. You need gridlines and sketch guides at the very least. Painting bits and pieces separately like this is most likely just gonna make you miss mistakes. If this is pointillism it must be done by eye dropping the colour of a pixel and then putting it down in the exact same spot on the layer above, which would basically be an extremely time consuming way of copy-pasting an image. So, no, I am still not convinced, but happy holidays to you too.

Its essentially pointillism, an art form I always enjoyed but never had the supplies to carry out on canvas. Regardless of whether I am using pencil or little blobs of color, I always start with the mouth, as its the hardest thing for me. As a side note, I cant help but find it ironic that as I worked on getting this technique down, and it was a disaster, everyone was happy to give me pointers and encouragement. Then I got good at it, and they started to look like photos, and then people say its a filter. So I started to take pics, to prove its not filter, that wont help any however. I know this wont help from my experience with the other Charlottes of the world, I know there is nothing I can say or do to change your mind. This used to drive me crazy, (I still dont love it) I have shared screen caps of them being done, even though i find the mistakes humiliating, and I am still told I faked it somehow. So all I can say is, Merry Christmas Charlotte, I hope you have a great 2021.

I really like this one! If you want this to be your final drawing, grab a pen and ink it. Try to make it as smooth as possible. If you want the inked version to look really clean, ink it all then erase the pencil drawing. Make sure to use a pen that DOESN'T SMEAR when you use an eraser on it.Great job! Both drawings looks fabulous!! Love it so much!

I love it so much, you've done fabulously! The details are all so great! If you'd like some tips, I recently learned that the nose and ear of a person is usually the same size and right across from eachother. Using this tip has really helped me when I draw realistically. Great job on the drawing, I hope I helped!

If you copy from a picture on the internet that’s technically tracing, which most artists/companies don’t like. You can absolutely use references, in fact, you should, but completely copying the image isn’t really a nice thing to do.

No, don’t listen to this person. You have all the rights so paint anything, you aren’t selling it or saying it’s your original idea. This is how you train your eye to paint what you see, it’s not tracing! You have done a great work on this piece and keep on working!

You can draw with a paper and pencil too! That’s all you really need. As for the computer thing— all you need is a good drawing program such as photoshop, paint tool sai, and clip studio paint (which all cost money, but there are free options too, like firealpaca and krita), and a drawing tablet. Drawing tablets without screens usually cost at least 40 dollars, but if you want a pen display that you can draw directly onto you’re looking at upwards of 200 dollars. You could also use an iPad. I recommend procreate, clip studio paint, or ibis paint x.
