They benefit from high altitude, a culture which values good runners and an unusually high percentage of their muscle mass is posture muscle (endurance) rather than twitch (strength). Funnily on the west coast of Africa (the ultimate origin of many Jamaicans) the twitch/posture ratio is reversed, which makes for very good sprinters and other sports requiring explosive power.

IQ tests are flawed, though. They only adapt to one type of affinities. They're inventing various kinds of IQ tests and IQ groups because of that. And exploring various kinds of ways to measure intelligence.

LOL! This is the best comment I've read today. I'm picturing Saint Patrick's younger, less successful sibling gathering up a sack of moles.

Or new zealand. Isolated places get random introductions historically from ships, and I can't imagine a mole wanting to be in a ship. Obviously all UK is islands and they are in England etc, just saying :)

The large island of Great Britain was once connected to mainland Europe, as recently as 7,000 years ago. Ireland has been isolated a much longer time.

My grandad spent his life battling moles, he loved his lawn and they would ruin it. He would wait with a spade like a real life game of whack a mole, i didn't agree with his ways but old men love their gardens.

While in Golden Gate Park, I once saw a Great Blue Heron snag a mole tail as it was tunneling into its hole, toss it into the air, and then swallow it whole. The GGPark groundskeepers love GBHs.

No snakes. No moles. Just tiny men in weird green suits making shoes and hoarding pots of gold showing up every time it rains.
