I did that this year, too. Hadn't cut my hair to shoulder length in years (it was waist-length by then). Got a nice letter thanking me from the organization. I hope it made some little kid happy. I hate my hair this short, but I love thinking about how it may have helped someone.

My son has done this twice in his short 17 years on this planet. He grew his hair down to his waist then cut it short and donated it to Locks of Love. He did it because he had a friend in primary school who had alopecia and wore wigs.

I think you look better with the short hair. It also makes it look less like your hairline is receding. Not saying it is, but that the longer hair style made it look like it was.

Absolutely awesome! I usually donate every time mine gets over 8 inches long. The hair is sanitized and made into wigs usually for cancer patients! Such a great way to give!
I know your intentions are kind. But I can never understand why people say this. The face is completely visible beforehand. And if people never grow out their long hair to donate, then all the children who need wigs would not get them. Again I know you want to compliment this person, and you're not saying anything mean, I'm just confused by this thought process.

Please don't donate your hair to Locks of Love - they charge the people for the wigs made out of donated hair. Donate it to Wigs for Kids, please, they're a much better organization.

My grans village was the same. Our street had lovely small trees since the 1900s when it was built. Big enough to be pretty but small enough to not feel oppressive in a small street.
